We had a last minute move, where I needed to pack and move everything out over the weekend. I requested a moving and packing quote from Yelp. Out of all the businesses, Brian had the most professional email and very straightforward pricing. After checking out a few reviews, I felt like his company was the best choice to do business with. I explained how I needed movers that weekend and he was very on board, telling me it was no problem. I even had a slight setback where I couldn't move for a couple days due to bad planning on the new place's misinformation and Brian worked with me on a date. When I suggested a date and time of less than 24 hours, he didn't even hesitate. He told me a time they could be there and I agreed. He even called back to let me know he could send movers sooner, which was wonderful. I would recommend getting cash out beforehand for the movers' tips. I hadn't had time and gave them all the cash I had but honestly wish I had thought of this beforehand to get them more. They were extraordinary - packed all our items, nothing broke and helped put together a couple furniture pieces as well. I highly, highly recommend Brian and his team. He checked on our progress throughout the day and made sure I was happy with the service. ManPower Movers did a great job moving my elderly parents into their new home. They don't speak very good English, and they are very particular about their belongings. They didn't trust moving companies previously, and wanted myself and my husband to do all of the moving. Quite frankly, moving all of the stuff they have takes professionals, not only to get everything out of their old home and into their new home safely, but to also do all of the heavy lifting, all while securing items from being damaged. As you can see, it would be impossible for my husband and I to do it on our own. We chose ManPower Movers from a relative who also used them. My parents had many requests and special accommodation in terms of where they wanted their items, what rooms everything should go in, and how carefully their belongings need to be handled. Again, my parents don't speak very good English and this can be frustrating for some. However, the men that came to move my parents did an excellent job. They arrived within the designated time window they had specified, our cost was comparable to the quote they had previously given us (actually it was a little bit less) so we decided to tip them the difference for their excellent service. If you're looking for movers that are: 1) patient, kind, and friendly; 2) understanding, good listeners, and respectful; and 3) efficient, capable, and professional then I would highly recommend ManPower Movers. I compared a few companies before I chose Manpower. Then I narrowed it down to two companies with similar, very reasonable rates. The "other" company lost my business because of the curt telephone representative. Manpower was professional and FRIENDLY at EVERY interaction, both on the telephone and in person. Love that. Workers showed up a wee bit late, but called to let us know, which makes it OK in my book. They wore the company shirts, introduced themselves, shook hands, and smiled. Perfect. I hate doing business with people who seem indifferent. They worked very hard, non-stop, for three hours. Polite the whole time. Did everything as they were asked. I could not say one bad thing. I was asked to remove my review. I said no, I wouldn't. I was not satisfied with the company then, nor am I now. I stated that my bedroom dresser was taken to be fixed and never returned. I am a frequent mover and usually move once a year at a minimum so I have dealt with my fair share of movers and let me just say that Manpower Movers has out right performed over all of the others! I have watched movers bang my furniture into walls, take breaks on the clock, drive recklessly on the way to my new residence and plainly said illustrate no regard for any of my belongings. However this moving company proved to do exactly the opposite! They took the time to correctly wrap all of my large items, never stopped working other than a quick lunch break (since I scheduled a move at 11:00am) but that wasn't a big deal because I had to eat too and they drove with caution once my items were loaded. This is exactly how I have expected every moving company to be but until now i hadn't found one that delivered on all levels, and Man Power Movers does just that! All around GOOD experience. Our office needed to move around some heavy filing cabinets and a considerable size safe within our own office and a lot of Misc items to our storage room down the street. We had neither the muscle power or the man power to get this done. So we called up Manpower Moved and was quoted a decent and fair price. Chris & Jason called in plenty of time to let us know they were running a few minutes late due to traffic, which was courteous and appreciated. They got here, they are in casual clothes, and from what I saw they went right to work and moved everything we had asked of them. No slacking at all from what I saw, which is what you want since we have all heard nightmares about lazy moving men. Update after the move: My experience with Manpower Moving was amazing! Glen and Eric showed up 15 minutes early so we were able to get the paperwork done. We walked through the condo and I showed them everything that needed to be moved. They were extremely clear with the details of the move. I had a time limit that I was hoping to keep the move under for financial reasons and they were able to meet it for me. They hustled, were extremely nice, and were really hard workers. Upon arriving at our new place with our stuff, they placed everything in the proper area. We were getting close on my cut off time and they picked up the pace even more (I even saw them jogging back to the truck a couple times). I would recommend Manpower Moving and especially Eric and Glen to anyone for their moving needs! Experience with them scheduling the move: I scheduled our move with Manpower Movers for next Sunday and so far so good! I spoke with Mike and he was very straightforward, explained all the costs, and was a nice guy. I have had bad experiences with movers in the pasts so hopefully this will be different. The main things I am looking for in the move are: keep the move at the 3 hr mark (totally do-able with our small place and how well we will have everything ready), careful with our stuff, and polite. Doesn't seem like to much to ask for, we just don't need anymore stress since we already have a newborn! I will update this post with more detail after the move. read more

I have moved a number of times in my life and Ive always been the guy to just invite friends over and do it myself, but something always seemed to break when my buddies were doing it. I've used these movers multiple times and even had them store a full apartment worth of stuff while i was gone to school for 6 months. I recently used them in Dec 2012 and they were very efficient. I even ended up adding some more work because my landlord had left some stuff in my level of the house and I asked them to move it up to the garage. It wasn't originally in the plan, but they didn't complain and continued to move quickly and still complete the tedious job within the 3 hour time limit...of course I did give them a larger tip for their extra work to make it worth it, but they didn't know i was going to do that at the time. read more

This is the second time we've used Manpower Movers. The first time I was impressed with how professionally and carefully the guys moved our stuff. Lots of antique furniture and really heavy stuff with stairs at both locations. They stayed under budget and everything arrived safely. This time (2 years later) we had them pack and move us. I will never pack again. These guys were wonderful! They were professional, courteous, efficient, careful and extremely conscientious. And the next day they moved us. Same thing. Under budget, careful, hard workers and very professional. We decided to go with the green re-usable crates. This made it not only easier, but there are no boxes to purchase or recycle. And I get an entire week to unpack and return them at no additional charge. I highly recommend Manpower Movers. I moved on 12/30/10 - sorry it took so long for me to write a review. I would absolutely use Manpower Movers again. In fact, I will probably move soon again as I had a death in the family and my mother will be living with me when I find another space. Anyway, I was freaked out about using a moving company I didn't know, but looked at the reviews of several places online, and went with this one. They answered my questions beforehand and the van arrived on time to my apartment in Pt. Loma. I had lived in the same place for close to six years and was totally stressed out. I had a wood futon frame bed that had been put together for me and I did not know how to take apart. I had nightmares the night before, wondering how that would go. They took it out in one piece, after having just taped the part that folds up, to the rest of the bed frame. Troy and Fred were the movers who helped me, from Manpower. They knew just what to do. All of my things, a studio apartment-sized goodly amount were moved without incident or damage. From negotiating the old apartment to up some stairs at the new place and in a skinny door, they worked well together getting everything moved. Not overcharged. I feel bad writing a bad review for Manpower Movers. I've had 3 separate moving experiences with them and the first two times were great. They were on-time and fast! The movers were courteous and never took breaks (even when I suggested it)! But, the last move was a big one, we moved from San Diego to San Francisco. We had two movers in SD, one of them driving the truck up to SF (Eric), and a new mover meeting us up there. The one in SD was great, he was super nice and quick. Eric, on the other hand, was a handful. He told us he took donations and we felt like we had to give him our stuff. Also, he just seemed really lazy and complained about what we were making him carry. The guy who met us in SF threw our boxes around and most of our boxes were ruined. Like the end of our other moves, they asked us to fill out a survey of how they did. Eric stared at us while we filled it out and when we didn't give him 10 out of 10s, he asked us what he did wrong... mind you, this is a 6ft 350lb guy...!! We lied and said he was great. read more

I ended up having to get a U-Haul and move my own things. I was quoted a price on the phone and then presented a price triple that amount the morning of the move. On top of that they wanted to change the move date to the next day. After I refused to pay there higher price they called the office and offered to move me for only double the quoted price. I declined their offer and did the move myself in less time than they wanted to do it. I was quoted $89 an hour for 2 guys and a truck. I was also told it should take 3 to 4 hours since I was already boxed up. The morning of the move I was told it would take a third person at $120 an hour. I was also informed that they were sure it was going to go into overtime. 8+ hours. On top of this, since they wanted another person the move would have to be pushed to another day. This was for a 2 bedroom home with garage. Since the agreed upon charges changed the morning of the move I chose not to use this mover. read more

I used this company in June 2010 and it was by far the worst moving experience. I've made well over 10 moves in the last 7 years, I know what to expect from movers. I hired movers and packers and only movers showed up with just a lame "someone didn't show up this morning". I had about 95% of the items packed and I was done well before they had loaded the truck. I was moving my things into a storage unit 5 blocks away. When I moved into the place I was moving out of I moved 10 blocks and did a full move that took 3.5 hours. It took these guys all day and for a good 45 minutes they were missing. I called the office and was given the run around and on the second call I was told that they took lunch. I understand the need to eat but bring your lunch if your on my time and at least tell me, don't just leave. The thing that upset me the most if that I was alone and I think if my husband had been there during the move I wouldn't have had so many problems. I was taken advantage of and would not recommend this company at all. There are good moving companies in San Diego but this is not one of them. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Update It was a year ago, I was packing up my house to deploy and writing about crappy customer service wasn't first on my list at the time but I saved my paperwork and low and behold it has Joe G's initials at the top. You can see that Manpower Movers has a lot of negative comments and he disputes them all. Unfortunately I never got a chance to use them. I called to set up an in-home estimate, but they stated they no longer offer residential/in-home estimates--that's now a service only offered for businesses/offices. [Really??] Personally, I'd never (ever) consider using a moving company that won't do a simple at-home estimate, simply because it may lead to a nasty surprise on your final bill. Bad move, Manpower. The boys are very helpful and work around your schedule if needed. I returned from a three month trip and dreaded the thought of having to move things. They gave me helping hand moving the things out of my storage unit and were very curteous. Storage unit is good enough for one room. I was able to fit...queen size bed and box frame, large desk.. round dinner table with four chairs. Tall dresser, two bed dressers and a mini fridge. That was just the large furniture! You can always stop by and see the unit before deciding, which I recommend. read more

Well, we moved again (hopefully the last time!) and this time we hired Atlas/Allied Movers. Not only did they come by before the move to assess all of our stuff but they worked ridiculously hard. I thought our previous movers were fine, and they were, but they were nothing compared to this crew. I was so impressed with the prep on the front end and the determination of the team to get our move done quickly and without damage. The movers were very nice and friendly. That was the good. There were several areas of concern though. I had to "suggest" that they do things normal movers would do, such as protect my walls and bannisters. Half the time I thought I was the professional mover, having moved over 5 times. Also, when I scheduled the move, I suggested 3 movers, but was assigned 2. This increased the time it took since I had many large pieces. The movers were even repeating to me during the move that this should have been a 3 person move. All in all, my things got there in one piece. read more

I was hesitant to hire movers but since my friends are as old as I am, I could no longer ask them to hook my U-haul full of crap up to their cars! I did some research on YELP and found Manpower and BOY am I glad I hired them! Eric and Glen showed up on time (early even) and had me out of one house in 1 hour and 15 minutes and in to the other in 45! The entire time I kept telling them how much I loved them, which I'm sure made them think I was a nut-job, but I truly did love having them take the stress off of me and take care of everything. They respected all of my wishes which was a relief. Plus, they were both cool and "got me" LOL From start to finish Manpower was professional, reliable, fast, affordable and I've already told all my friends about them. We needed to make a quick local move....Manpower came and packed up our entire house (3/3, 2k sq ft + garage) one day, and a fresh crew came the next day and moved us. These guys were dedicated, they were polite, fabulous to our 3 yr old and small dog, I wanted to invite them back to watch the game! I'm a pretty hard worker when it comes to accomplishing a task but Eric put me to shame....he's unbelievable, didn't even stop for a lunch break when I bought a pizza. Use these guys and request him!! The only reason I gave four stars is the other guy was slow (but still polite and courteous...which isn't always the case). Awesome. Quick, careful, and professional. I had to move out by 11/30 and my move in was on 12/9. Manpower was able to haul my stuff out, store it at their warehouse, and move it in. There is a 3 hour minimum at $89 per hour, plus a $40 gas surcharge. Joe was able to cut me a small break on the storage fee (about $20 off), and agreed to count the entire move as one move. So, I avoided a 6 hour minimum and two $40 surcharge. Very reasonable. Total for my 1.5 bedroom was about $600, including taxes, insurance for my plasma, etc. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. read more

My husband and I just made a move up to Sacramento from San Diego. Jeff the driver and mover did a fabulous job. He was prompt, polite and extremely friendly. Manpower movers was awesome! Last summer, we had a psycho woman that refused to vacate her property (which was no longer hers) and had to have Manpower store our stuff overnight. They were available to unpack our stuff at 9am the next morning. I love the fact that they are very eco-conscious and delivered the green crates 2 weeks beforehand.
