I ordered through Uber. Uber showed me the order and prompted me to add "items" I realized I forgot $6 rice. I added and Uber created a separate order and charged me $10.50 for the new order. I wasn't going to pay $10.50 for a $6 rice so I canceled through Uber chat bot because there wasn't another way. Uber mistakenly cancelled the original $24 order and charged me $20 fee. I called the restaurant to reinstate my original order but they said I would have to pay $24 on top of the $20 I was charged. I canceled within 5 minutes and couldn't understand what damage the cancellation caused to the restaurant and that cancellation wasn't mistakenly executed by Uber chat bot. So I ended up paying a $31 dollar rice that worth $6 dollars. The restaurant took about $26 for the $6 rice they provided. Not a win win transaction. I am no longer customer of this restaurant AND Uber eats. read more

The Aloo Tikki was very good. I had never ordered them before but as a potato lover, I definitely will be doing so again. The price listed for this item and the quantity/ quality were on par. 8/10 The garlic Naan was very well made. I love a Naan easily 9/10. The goat curry (medium spice, no rice) was relatively good and flavorful. A little on the expensive side, not a whole lot of meat, but a lot of bones. My wife and I had the lunch buffet for $16.95. The waiter promptly brought a bottle of water and fresh naan, which was excellent. The buffet featured expected dishes like chicken tikka masala, chicken or goat curry, saag, lettuce salad, fruit, basmati rice, etc. The food was well cooked and presented, but was a bit too spicy (salty, hot) for our tastes. We ate it with lots of rice. It is about medium heat and probably what more of the customers want, but was spicier than other similar buffets we have visited in Riverside. Yes, apparently if you order Paneer tikka, they will bring you the indo-chinese paneer chilly type of a thing and not the tandoori paneer appetizer you were expecting. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was busy. They have a really good lunch buffet. I will comment on the vegetarian dishes. The appetizer pakora was nice and crispy and went really well with the green chutney. For the main course dishes, I really enjoyed the kofta curry, punjabi kadhu, black dal with jeera rice. They also had the spinach and corn, aloo gobi. It came with garlic naan, which was amazing. Also, they had desert gajar halwa, ras malai and rice kheer which were all surprisingly good and not too sweet. Ambience is nice and they have their own parking lot. Service can be a little better since they brought us the paneer tikka when we were already eating desert, just saying. We did phone order and picked up to-go since we can't eat there due to the current global pandemic. We bought garlic naan, rice, matar paneer, daal, samosa, raita & aachar and chicken masala. I used to eat here often when it was it its previous location (former Villa Amalfi building). I came to the new location for the first time and recognized it as a former Chinese restaurant that I used to eat at. I showed up at lunch for the buffet. I was promptly greeted and seated. I took one trip to the buffet line and selected some of my favorite Indian items such as Tandoori Chicken, Palak Paneer (Spinach and cheese dish) and Chicken Tika Masala. Naan (flat bread) and water was already on my table when I returned from the buffet line. I eat Indian food (buffet) quite often but I realized that Mantra's food tasted so fresh compared to the others. The food was good quality but lacked spice in most of the dishes that I tried. I typically like a medium spice to my Indian food but it was lacking here. I had to flag someone down half way through my meal to order a Diet Coke. At the end you walk up to the register to pay. Friendly staff who welcomes arriving guests and quickly seats them in nice booths. The main draw for our family is/was the excellent lunch buffet which brought us to Mantra over competitors without one. Alas, Mantra management has chosen not to resume the currently suspended buffet even though the pandemic that caused the suspension is now history. While once our primary go-to Indian restaurant, Mantra has now been removed from consideration as a result of no longer offering the lunch buffet. Our typical meal consists of Veggie Pakora and veggies Vamosas to start. Began Bartha, Alu Gobi and Basmati rice with a side of garlic Naan and raita. It's been few years that I havr been to Mantra. The last time which was back in 2013 I didn't had such a nice experience with this place. So after years I wanted to give it another try. So we went there and first thing I am observing is that servers are all wearing uniforms (which is very professional) and as soon as we walked in they made us seated and right away poured water in our glasses on the table. So far things were going pretty good. We ordered my Favorite Kadai Paneer and Yello dal all spicy with Garlic Chili Naan and a regular Garlic Naan. To my surprise the order came out pretty quick. So here is the reasons why I gave a 4 star instead of 5: 1. Food lacked proper salt seasonings. I am not someone who will put or eat a lot of salt in my food, but I want my dishes to be properly seasoned. 2. The consistency of their naan is very thin and traditionally naans are a little bit more thicker bread. I guess I would not consider this as a valid point for giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it all depends on restaurant to restaurant, but none the less I wanted to point this out. 3. KEEP YOUR RESTROOMS CLEAN. The male restrooms were pretty dirty. 4. Please stop using food coloring in your Curry's. Let me be natural. The amount of food coloring I had yesterday made my fingers all yellow and orange in color literally even after washing my hands. Overall the food was decent and service is good as well. From the last experience I had compared to what I had presently, they have come a long way with other competition in the area. I asked the person at the motel where to get good Matar/Mutter Paneer, and he recommended this restaurant. I haven't found any good Indian restaurant for a long time and I was wanting this dish most of all. I was afraid that this was another "butter chicken" restaurant to serve the masses. When I entered, I was greeted quickly. When we established that I was one person and eating there, I believe she said "you can start any time." Start what? She walked away. I tried to ask for a menu. Hmmm Well, I saw the buffet and examined the dishes and they didn't have anything I wanted, so when someone came to bring water, I asked for a menu. He acted as though he didn't speak English but he got a menu for me. Eventually, the lady returned and took my order. She seemed annoyed that I didn't want buffet. Maybe, it would interrupt their cooking routine. In any case, she brought things to the table, including my iced tea, some roti (or is it puri?), and sauces. After a while, the samosas arrived. I'd never eaten any but friends told me that this was a tasty treat when they were younger. There is a food court booth at NewPark Mall up north called Samosas. First off....DELICIOUS!! My family has ordered from Mantra via Doordash 5 times. The food is always packaged securely, never any spills, and always hot. Shout out to the Dashers who never fail to deliver, literally and figuratively! Our typical order is Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Shrimp, Shrimp Curry, Paneer Masala, Rice, and Garlic Naan which usually costs about $70. Sounds pricey, but its enough food to feed a family of 5 adults and 1 child with leftovers. The food is fresh, flavorful, and colorful. It appeals to all the senses.
