My 42nd visit. The wine program is outstanding. Szabi and Sanabel do a fantastic job. I hate to say, however, that the food experience seems to have slipped during my last few visits. Some of the steaks have been merely okay, not at the level of flavor and tenderness I would expect. The shucking of oysters has also been problematic lately. Definitely a place to go for a celebration. Luxury to the max. For sure there's a dress code but the place is beautiful and please be mindful for parking. Valet is recommended as parking is a nightmare. But it's downtown. Everyone is super nice and they provide the experience of a lifetime. For date nights, anniversaries and special events. We visited Maple & Ash in Miami about a month ago, and I've finally had a chance to write this review. Our party of seven decided to go with the "I Don't Give a F***" tasting menu. It's definitely a splurge, so we were excited to see what the experience would be like. The variety of dishes that came out was impressive, and there was plenty of food to share. Unfortunately, the execution didn't live up to the price. The first seafood dish that was served was so salty that our table had to send it back. While the replacement was a little better, it was still much saltier than it should have been. The biggest disappointment was the steak. It was incredibly tough and chewy, making it difficult to enjoy, especially for what should have been the highlight of the meal. On a positive note, the desserts were excellent, and the cocktails were probably the best part of the evening. The service was also friendly throughout the meal. For a restaurant with this reputation and price point, I expected a much more consistent dining experience. I've been wanting to try this place out since they opened. So glad we finally made it. We mistakenly walked into the wrong place so when you go in, make sure you take the elevator upstairs if not, you'll be visiting a completely different spot. Once we did arrive, we were welcomed with open arms and in a very professional and classy way. Our server was exceptional. I visited Maple & Ash today for a friend's birthday. The food was excellent, and our waiter, Zafar, was wonderful. The staff delivering our food were equally lovely, and even the doorman was incredibly warm and welcoming. They were all fantastic. Unfortunately, the front desk experience was the complete opposite. I arrived before everyone else and was told to wait at the bar, which was fine. Once five of our eight guests had arrived, I asked if we could be seated. The restaurant had plenty of empty tables, but they acted like I was asking for something outrageous. The "manager" then asked if I was comfortable ordering for my missing friends because they like everything to come out at the same time. Honestly, what? Like, HUH? I'm the guest. It's my friend's birthday. We're paying to dine there. Why am I being made to run on the restaurant's schedule instead of being made to feel comfortable? Born and raised in Miami, I know this city's restaurant scene well. I know great hospitality when I experience it, and this was NOT it. The front desk staff came across as inexperienced, dismissive, and unprofessional. There was eye-rolling over a simple seating request, which is unacceptable at a restaurant positioning itself as a luxury dining experience. The irony is that once we were finally seated, everything was great. The food was delicious. Zafar took wonderful care of us. The table service was excellent. But first impressions matter, and the front desk is doing this restaurant a huge disservice. Great food. Great waiter. Great table service. Terrible front desk customer service. Tried Maple & Ash with their Miami Spice menu and honestly I'm not rushing back anytime soon. The place itself if a nice ambiance. Dark and candle-lit, but very noisy. There were so many large parties which is great for them but ultimately the space itself is so loud it's quite hard to hear each other and even the waiter. Everyone had to wait for their table that night. When we arrived we had to wait a little and when we were leaving people were waiting despite all of us having reservations. I'm not even bothered by that but the bar was very quick tp become crowded with guests waiting that there were just people everywhere. Anyways, onto food. They had two kinds of spice menus, a $65 and a $95. Our waitress mentioned the 95 was more seafood forward with their special tower. We went with the 65 menu and glad we did because I was quite full afterwards and wanted meat anyway. I got the tuna tartare as my appetizer, and strongly advise against it. It really wasn't for me. It was watermelon, tuna, avocado, and some cream on top that was spicy. Not the kind spice that I like to eat. Maybe it was horseradish? I'm not sure but the mesh of flavors just wasn't for me. My mom got the wedge salad which I should tell anyone who may order it that it's a chopped salad with the ingredients of a wedge salad, not an actual piece of the iceberg lettuce. The salad was alright but nothing to write home about. Honestly, I think we are spoiled with the wedge salad from Daniel's and Truluck's that are just phenomenal (especially Daniel's). for main we got the filet mignon medallion that came with potato puree. Steak was great. Honestly saved the meal from where it was headed with the appetizers. We also ordered two sides from the regular menu which were fine and I'm glad we tried them. One critique for the steak though was that their knives are very dull! Made it hard to cut the filet. For dessert we tried one of each option. The coconut one was pretty good, the strawberry tres leches are also tasty, and the chocolate cake was also good. Drinks we had wine but also when you arrive there is a nice welcome cocktail. None of us actually drank it because it just tasted like sugar water but it was a nice touch along with a little crudités when you sit down. Did not complain or want his money back, (against my encouragement to at least communicate with the klitchen. ) He also ordered the newly added cream spinach , which I agreed was inedible ...just by looking at it !!! The place is nice and spacious with a nice bar as well. Service has been great when I have gone and friendly. You have to find parking in a nearby garage or something as parking is scarce. I am not much of a drinker but I enjoy the entry drink they give you. Also highly recommend the Parker bread you have to order separately as a side. Delicious. Food is good overall. So I did another Miami Spice. This place was...disappointing. It was only two of us and the bill was $500. The spot itself was alright. I always thought the personalized menu's were clever. I can see how it draws people in. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but when ordering, I asked if I could have the dressing on the side for my salad and they said it was pre-made but somehow the server still had to "finish" it table side. It was also mad salty but at that point I gave up on the salad. Probably one of the worst caesar's I've had in a minute. Not sure why they couldn't adhere to my request, but if I were the chef, I'd fix that detail. You go to places much cheaper and they can easily put the dressing on the side. don't call it a "tableside caesar" if all you're basically doing is moving it from a bowl to the customer's plate. we also ordered the bluefin tuna tartare and steak with our food; both great. seafood tower was also disappointing. we upgraded from $65 to $95 for the tower and it was the saddest thing I've ever seen. TDLR: sneaky over tipping off food that was not available and didn't come out correctly. Over tipped $30 on food we didn't even get or eat. I wanted to like this place since a couple of people have said they had good experiences. Sadly, it was underwhelming. I can cook a better steak at home. The only redeeming thing was the wagyu carpaccio. I think other diners deserve to know how sketchy this place is and being that it's a chain, there is no way that this is an accident. We ordered sparkling water which took 15 mins to arrive. Then we ordered skirt steak and it wasn't available so it didn't even come out of the kitchen (tipped on this). Because it was not available we got the the classic rib eye instead. The server said he can comp a couple of sides to make up for the skirt steak not being available. The first rib eye came out well done (tipped on this). So it got sent back and another one came medium which is what we wanted but it was very over salted and tasted like it was made on a dirty grill. We got sides of asparagus and fries were fine. Branzino was bland. Not worth getting. All in all, the food is below average. The service was average but seeing the way they operate by charging mandatory tip for food we didn't get, I will not be going back. read more

So tonight was my first time dining at Maple & Ash, and here is my honest review. We started at the bar for drinks, but the bartender was standoffish and it took a while to get her attention. Once seated, there was another delay before our waitress came over, and we had to ask someone to send her to our table. When she did arrive, she was very friendly and personable. For appetizers, we had the lobster dumplings, which were just okay, and the French dip that our waitress suggested, which was amazing. The oysters on the half shell were excellent, and the Maple & Ash wedge salad was outstanding. Our waitress suggested splitting the salad and serving the bacon on the side since I do not eat pork, but the salad arrived neither divided nor with the bacon on the side. The Golden Kaluga caviar was absolutely delicious, and my Mediterranean branzino was a 10 out of 10. Dessert was the flambé, which was incredible, though next time I would ask for less rum. Overall, the food was outstanding and lived up to the hype. While our server was sweet and had a great personality, the lack of attentiveness made the experience less enjoyable. This space is absolutely stunning and a great addition to downtown! The bar area is pretty and dimly lit. Once you sit, you are given a welcome drink which is such a cute touch. Our waiter was quick and efficient and gave great recommendations. He also served us potato chips with a caviar dip complimentary, so delicious. To start we had the meatballs, which were very tasty and came with a little piece of toast. I loved the caramelized tomato sauce. We also had the wedge salad, its tasty and comes with an onion ring on top. The hamachi crudo was very tasty not too fishy and i loved the ponzu sauce on top. The star of the show, without doubt, are the pillows of love pasta with the agnolotti inside. DELICIOUS. We also shared the ribeye and ordered a side of potatoes gratin. Very good. Last but not least, we had the frites, which were good, but personally i could do without but im not a fry person. Another amazing addition was the flambe which they make tableside. We had a reservation to celebrate my partner's birthday. While the service once we were seated was a 10/10, our first impression left much to be desired. Before we even completely reached the front door we were stopped and told by the guy at the door that we wouldn't be able to come in because "We don't allow shorts." I responded by telling him that we had a reservation and the reservation reminder didn't mention anything about shorts. He repeated that they didn't allow shorts and I repeated my response. He then said, let me ask to make sure. When he came back to us he told us that shorts are allowed but only in the bar area. This entire interaction put a bad taste in my mouth and felt discriminatory especially since there were other men with shorts in the restaurant and even tennis shoes. Each table was lit by candlelight, as we were sat they gave us complimentary cocktails and a menu with a happy birthday printed on it. I also had the beef tartar which was fantastic , that came accompanied with some toasted sourdough. For the main dish I ordered the New York strip and the Bone-In ribeye which were both fantastic , a little bit overcooked than how we ordered but so flavorful. You must get the beefed up butter to top the steaks. For sides i got the golden potato dish which was phenomenal and the Mac and cheese was good as well. Maple & Ash has long been a Chicago establishment, but its arrival in Miami has brought a new level of excitement to the city's dining scene. With a menu crafted by two Michelin star Chef Danny Grant and a wine list lauded by Wine Spectator as "one of the most outstanding in the world," expectations were sky high and somehow, the experience managed to exceed every single one. I'd been saving Maple & Ash for a special occasion, planning to celebrate our one year anniversary there. But when I saw the announcement for their exclusive Marble and Flame Australian Wagyu experience, I knew we had to grab the moment. It turned out to be one of the best dining decisions I've ever made. We arrived a little early and decided to start our evening at the bar. I ordered the Illicit Affair which is a dangerously delicious cocktail made with Grey Goose, St-Germain, dragon fruit, lemon, cucumber, and basil. It was so refreshing that I could have easily enjoyed four or five of them! My boyfriend went with the classic Old Fashioned, which he truly enjoyed as well. The bar set the tone for what would be an unforgettable night. After our drinks, we were escorted to a private room decorated with a gorgeous chandelier at its center. The atmosphere was elevated even further by a live violinist, whose music set the perfect mood for the evening ahead. We were greeted with a dramatic ice display featuring Island Creek oysters, wagyu tartare, Skull Island prawns, and passed wagyu nigiri sushi. Each bite was phenomenal so much so that I had to restrain myself from going back for seconds, knowing there was so much more to come. The next course was King River wagyu tataki with ribeye, topped with king crab in a smoked beef ponzu sauce. I can honestly say this was one of the best cuts of ribeye I've ever tasted..tender, flavorful, and unlike anything I've had before. The fact that this particular cut of beef has only been available in the U.S. for six months made it feel even more special. Following that, we enjoyed vintage Galician beef and Gudaghai lamb chops served with pomme purée with truffled onion. "Wow" is the only word that does it justice. The meats melted in your mouth, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Just when I thought the meal couldn't get any better, dessert arrived which was a black truffle cherry sundae. The truffle vanilla ice cream was out of this world, paired with black cherry and white soy caramel. I devoured every bite and even finished what my boyfriend couldn't. The fact that some of the beef fat was used in the ice cream was a unique and delicious touch. Throughout the evening, the wine pairings were spot-on, featuring excellent selections from Penfolds. The Chardonnay and red wines complemented each course beautifully, and the attentive staff ensured our glasses were never empty. To top it all off, when I mentioned to the marketing manager that we'd originally planned to celebrate our anniversary the following week here, she surprised us with a customized menu wishing us a happy anniversary. Such a thoughtful gesture that made the night even more memorable. Maple & Ash's Marble and Flame experience was, without a doubt, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Wow finally a great steakhouse experience in South Florida! We made reservations on Resy and upon arrival, were seated promptly. There are 3 areas that I saw, the bar area (with some table seating), a dining area next to the bar, and *the* dining room. We were a party of two and were seated in the dining area next to the bar along the wall. What I didn't like most is that it wasn't as intimate being seated so close to others, so next time I'll reserve a table in the main dining room instead. So upon seating, the waiter immediately greeted us with a cocktail on the house. It was a light and refreshing vodka based drink. Then they gave us some chips with onion dip and caviar. Very good. We ordered a 'field greens' salad and a meatball appetizer to start. Both were shareable between two people. Our main courses were filet mignons which were cooked perfectly to order and the meat quality was on point! Side dishes were French fries and potatoes au gratin. The Au Gratin potatoes were amazing, very delicious. They were cheesy (manchego & Parmesan) and so worth it. The later it got, the more they pumped up the music, I'd say the restaurant was almost club-like, it was loud so if that's not your vibe, keep this in mind. Maple & Ash has been a long awaited addition to the Miami scene and they're already a legend. Very much the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion because that is their forté. Szabi is their head sommelier and enough of a reason for me to pop in for drinks alone. He's an expert at his craft and will make you fall in love with wine if you haven't already. It's an art at this incredible restaurant making it an experience with every visit. If you're lucky enough, you'll be able to see their amazing wine cellar, one of my favorites in the entire city. read more

My search for a really good steak in Miami continues. I went to Maple & Ash tonight, through Miami Spice's $95 deal. The Cesar Salad was mediocre. I ordered the NY Strip, which was to come with mashed potatoes and truffles. Where to begin. The portion of mashed potatoes was roughly equivalent to what you'd get if you boiled and mashed one of those really small potatoes you can buy in a mesh bag at the super market. You need to eat about a dozen of them to serve as a side to you main dish. It arrived cold. The shaved truffle was completely tasteless, which is saying a lot when you're describing a truffle. Now on to the star of the show, the steak. It was laced with a thick layer of grizzle that was unchewable. The steak was tough, like shoe leather. And again, cold, covered with a thin, tasteless demiglace. I told the manager it was unacceptable, and he mentioned that it was prime beef. If was not even choice. He brought me a chicken dish, which was better, but not by much. Most restaurants who aspired to superior customer service would have perhaps at least offered me a complimentary glass of wine, but there was no effort to appease my dissatisfaction. This is yet another way over-priced Miami restaurant that goes for style over substance, which would be empty in a real food city. It was a huge disappointment. read more

The service was great! The staff super nice and friendly. I got a cherry on top which was delicious. It had a nice lay out too. It wasn't too bright or dark. The lighting was perfect. Definitely recommend stopping by for a few drinks. read more

Came back because I loved it so much the first time but this time it was not so good! I think service was inconsistent and food was below average this time. I came here with a girlfriend, we both live in the area and I was raving about it so much I think we both got a little disappointed. It's a steakhouse so of course we order the skirt steak. They didn't have it so we ordered the rib eye. The waiter told us that he would make it extra special. It came overcooked so we had to send it back. This was the first time I've ever sent a steak back... and the one they served us was covered in charcoal taste. We ordered sparkling water and that took forever as well. Anyways, they comped us the sides to make up for not having the skirt steak available. And then they give you a welcome drink at the beginning that you don't ask for and charge extra for. They also put the skirt steak on the bill, and remove it as a "courtesy" but it shouldn't even be on there in the first place since they didn't have it in stock. Then they "remove" the sides that came with the steak on the bill, and so it looks like they comped us a lot of $ when they just do that so they can charge you tip on the items... this is a huge scam. I didn't even notice this the first time I came because we were in a big group but if this is how they do business then I hope they do not stick around much longer. How unfortunate, I loved it but not good for the locals!! Anyways, let's end on a good note. We also got the king crab salad, sea bass and the Wagyu beef carpaccio, the Wagyu beef carpaccio is definitely a must try here. It is my absolute favorite to appetizer. read more
