I visited Maple & Ash for the first time time last week with three girlfriends on a Thursday night. The restaurant was the perfect option for girls' night because the decor is opulent, the service was excellent (aside from our experience at the bar initially which I will get to shortly), and it was the quintessential fancy steakhouse experience. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and sat at the bar for a drink. I asked the first bar tender which of their sparkling wines was the most dry (I pointed to the sparkling wine section vs. the champagne section) and she poured me a glass of the one she recommended. The prices for the sparkling wines ranged from $16-$18. When the hostess came to tell us our table was ready, my friend asked the second bar tender to give us separate checks, and he proceeded to roll his eyes at us. When he handed me mine, I noticed I'd been charged for a $35 glass of champagne, which was not what I'd asked for. When I pointed it out, he begrudgingly (and slowly) corrected the error. Sadly, the experience with that one bar tender tainted the experience for us. He was unnecessarily hostile and rude and should probably reconsider working in the hospitality industry altogether. Fortunately, one we were seated at our table, everything improved. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic and made us feel right at home. Before we even looked at the menu she brought us all small martinis on the house which I thought was a very nice touch. We were also given potato chips with some sort of caviar dip that was delicious. To start, we shared the HAMACHI CRUDO which was great. We then ordered the following items to share: the 9 ounce FILET MIGNON, the PILLOWS OF LOVE, the FLORIDA TRIPLETAIL, the BRUSSELS SPROUTS and the YUKON GOLD POTATOES AU GRATIN. The steak was good although slightly overdone (we asked for medium). Our server raved about the pillows of love, the sprouts and the potatoes au gratin, but they were all wayyyyy overrated. For desert, we had the SUNDAE TOWER and while overpriced, it was quite good. Was the food the best I've ever had, definitely not. But, would I go back for the overall experience? Yes, probably. Next time, I'd order more appetizers and stick to the steak. read more

This was such a memorable birthday experience. We truly enjoyed celebrating here at Maple and Ash. The drinks were outstanding. Mostly drank the Maple and Ash Old Fashioned, but at the end I had to finish the night with the IDGAF Old Fashioned, this was just perfect to end the night. We started with the Seafood tower that was outstanding at the end they gave us some pasta to eat with the remaining delicious sauce. This is a must! The meat selection was outstanding and cooked perfectly! The desserts, my favorite was the coconut, flavors were on point it's refreshing and lite. Best of all was the service all around from start to finish. The attention to detail throughout the experience was exceptional including the decor of the restaurant. Parking is a bit challenging, highly recommend valet right across for easy and smooth arrival. read more

Stunning Food, Hostile Management The food was excellent--the Tomahawk steak, oysters, mushrooms and hamachi were perfection. However, the service was a disaster. While we stepped away for a moment (restroom), the staff cleared our table, including unfinished plates of expensive food. When we addressed this with the manager, Paulo, he was incredibly rude, flatly stating he "wouldn't listen" to us. To make matters more confusing, after this hostile encounter, a waiter dropped off four glasses of wine we hadn't asked for--presumably a silent apology that the manager refused to give. It is a shame that a high-quality menu is overshadowed by Paulo's lack of professionalism. Great steak isn't worth being barked at. Note: if you aren't finished with your meal, do not leave the table. Funny but not funny. read more

Beautiful restaurant with great service! We went on a Wednesday night for their late-night special -- caviar, chicken nuggets, fries, and champagne. The whole experience felt fun and elevated. I'm a big caviar lover, so I can say this one wasn't the best quality (definitely not top-tier), but it was still such a unique and beautiful experience overall. We got sat right away, they give you a complimentary drink when you're sat and at no point did I feel they were upselling us or rushing us out. Cool spot in downtown Miami. Nice decor. We went to Maple & Ash in downtown Miami for an event at the lounge, then decided to stay for dinner. The experience started off cool. we were actually led through the kitchen to our table, which felt very "behind the scenes" and added a nice touch to the evening. The food was solid, definitely well-prepared, but for the price point, it didn't quite deliver that "wow" factor. We had the French onion dip with chips, Caesar salad, ribeye, and potatoes au gratin. Everything was good and clearly made with care. the steak was cooked well and the potatoes creamy, but nothing stood out as exceptional or memorable. Dessert was a soufflé, which was honestly the highlight of the meal. Service was professional although the waitress was dressed very odd for this type of restaurant. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a trendy Miami hotspot. The biggest drawback? The price. With one glass of wine for me and a whisky for my husband, the bill came to over $350. We recently had almost the same dinner, plus more drinks and a couple of extra dishes at Born and Raised in California for about $100 less and in a more beautiful setting. Miami prices are definitely getting out of control. Overall, Maple & Ash is fine, but if you're going for food value alone, there are much better options in the city. read more

1 star. Ruined my mom's birthday before we even got inside. Reservation made two weeks in advance for my mother's birthday dinner. We arrived early, appropriately dressed, and the doorman came at us with a nasty attitude -- singling my mom out over her outfit, then coming for me too despite being fully within their dress code. I watch other guest walk in with transparent dresses, unfitted tees and hoodies! Did i mention, all while we stood outside in the rain getting embarrassed in front of other guests. The manager did apologize and offered to accommodate us, but the damage was done. I wasn't spending hundreds of dollars celebrating my mom at a place that let its doorman humiliate us before we even sat down. And the aesthetics are beautiful. Oddly enough it was super empty but we still enjoyed ourselves. We always bring the party anyway! Lol. Service was great also. Let me just say "I expected more!" Our table wasn't ready upon arrival. We had a short wait for our table and the manager gave us a round of drinks on the house, which was really nice of him! The ambiance and the service is what got the restaurant 3 stars because that was amazing. I can't take that away from them BUT the food was not worth it at all. The Branzino was tasteless, the mashed potatoes were watery, more like soup, the Brussel sprouts were salty, and the potato au gratin was sharrrpppp, almost unbearable to eat! The lamb chops came with maybe 3/4 and they were the smallest pieces I've ever seen and for $79! We liked the meatballs and the Himachi. The drinks were also good, yet overpriced in my opinion! Now here is where the real problem came in, I was charged a totally different price on my bank statement than on my receipt! Luckily I kept my receipt! The Caesar salad and lobster dumplings were both good but very salty. For the mains we had the steaks. I liked my ribeye, but the non fatty portions didn't have a tone of flavor. The pillows of love were really good and very similar to a dish and Sunny's/jaguar sun. The service was very good from the waiter, but the 30 min wait on the front end dampened the experienced a bit. This establishment has a few different spaces to enjoy. There is a restaurant that is very nice and then there is a lounge area with a bar and DJ. The lounge area is a very nice space. It's great mood lighting with a nice view of the stadium that's down the street. The only improvement I've noticed is that there isn't enough staff to service that area of the lounge. There was one waiter who was running back and forth with too many tables IMO. There's really small bites and drinks in the lounge area so you wouldn't think it be as long of a wait like a restaurant, but it can busy on a busy night. Fantastic meal and experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with friendly staff and a stunning aesthetic. It's so gorgeous, it's definitely one of the prettiest restaurants in Miami for sure. I love the old, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic and this restaurant is all about that. Real candlesticks on each table on vintage chamber sticks was such a nice touch. We went for dinner the night before Valentine's Day and it was great. The music was very vibey but you could still hear each other talk. We were welcomed with a welcome drink and dip which was a nice touch. We ate the pillows of love pasta which was delicious, the wedge salad, the beef tenderloin steak tartare (wow!), and one of the wagyus. For whatever reason my drinks at the table were average, but when I ordered the same drink at the bar after dinner it was delicious. Must have been a different bartender. After our dinner, we were able to sit at the bar for a bit longer to keep enjoying the restaurant. We wanted to go to the speakeasy but it was at capacity. We did the IDGAF menu and it was stupendous. Every single dish was amazing. The dessert tower was phenomenal. We planned a date night here and were excited to finally try this place. Unfortunately, our sitters fell thru so we had to try and take our two boys. At first they said they couldn't add two extra and to maybe try new restaurant next door that was kid friendly....not a good start to this experience. Then I spoke to a manager and they were very accommodating and empathetic and sat us with no issues. They greeted us with complimentary cocktails and mocktails for our boys. Nice touch! We were honored with one of their famous menus celebrating our anniversary. The vibes were 10/10. The place is lit with just candles on each table. Very sultry and romantic. The drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable. They gave us a complimentary appetizer for anniversary and they were so patient with our boys. Had an exceptional experience here, despite a few small hiccups. I can never understand why a hostess will take you to the worst table in a nearly empty restaurant and when you ask for a table they say they have to ask someone whether they "can accommodate you ", all while leaving you standing like an idiot near the rejected table. Thank you so much for not putting us in the table we didn't want! On to the good: someone please copy their potato chip and caviar dip to start, so good! We ordered the I don't give a F menu, and it hit on every level. From the hot seafood tower (a little more shrimp and less clams please). And maybe some bread to sop up the sauce instead of the chewy pasta. Then an amazing salad, followed by the steak and dover sole, all first rate! Sides were rich and flavorful. The other negative was our expectation of getting their famous hot fudge sundae and instead being served a dry, flavorless coconut cream pie. My wife was crestfallen and we expressed our disappointment to our friendly waiter. He was a true pro and offered to bring us the sundae to make us happy. Needless to say, despite being completely stuffed, we eagerly accepted. It was as good as we had hoped, maybe even better! All in all, a really great meal and we will definitely return. read more

The Wood-Grilled Octopus was fine, but salty. The Lobster Dumplings were awful -- freezing cold and inedible with the amount of salt in the lobster bisque that surrounds the dumplings. The Spanish Dover Sole tasted like straight butter. The Lobster Spaghetti was so tasteless that they took it back and I did not order anything else. I would have given this restaurant 1 star had the manager not come over and give me her card and apologize for the terrible food. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit in the Downtown Miami area. I'm slowly tasting my way through the menu and so far, all hits, no misses. From the starters I would go to bat for the Cesar, Lobster Dumplings, Wood-grilled Octopus, and Tuna Tartar. From the entrées I would not skip the Pillows of Love (name well deserved), Fire-roasted Chicken, and the Spanish Dover Sole.. babyyyyy that Champagne Sabayon they bathe the Sole in is criminal. I loved the Mac & Cheese as a side. My favorite drink (possibly in all of Miami) is the "Home by 8" . The "Illicit Affair" is a close runner up. Everything is so good you can't go wrong here. Thank God for the assistant, otherwise I would've gone into shock. The food was good. We ordered as the entree filet mignon with Yukon potatoes and mushrooms. All were good; hence the stars. The place looked like it had a good ambiance in the adjoining room. Too bad we were not seated there. Finally, nice touch about receiving a personalized Happy Birthday Card. However, could've gone to Sir Speedy and gotten the same card printed for $100. All said Happy Birthday. Then wondered whether by saying this on the reservation a conclusion was made that I was a one and done, pump and dump guest. The waiter was so disconnected that I told him we were locals; no effect. He said: we've been opened 55 days. I give them 311 more days. No locals in the summer=dire fall. When we first sat down, I was a little disappointed because we only received the regular menus--I had saw reviews with the congratulatory menus and was expecting that touch. We went all out and ordered the "I Don't Give a F#ck!" menu. I don't understand how they have high reviews on Yelp because it's a lie. The restaurant is beautiful but the food sucks. The waiter was not even attentive and our bill was $700 for 3 people. We tried several different items on the menu and I definitely would never go back to eat, only for the ambiance and for drinks. The expreso martini is tasty but all the food was bland and tasteless.
