A great birthday dinner! Maple and Ash's fire roasted seafood tower drew me in and it did not disappoint. The seafood was cooked perfectly in a chili butter and tasted fresh and delicious --it was definitely a highlight of the meal. However, everything we ate was excellent! Our bone-in New York steak was cooked perfectly and our sides were tasty as well (why do my Brussels sprouts never taste that good?). The complimentary drink, chips, and celebratory menu are also a nice touch. Sadly we did not save room for dessert this time around but I'm excited to return and try more menu options. My husband and I dined at Maple and Ash on Tuesday, for our anniversary. We snagged a reservation online for standard seating and specified we were celebrating our anniversary; it was nice that the hostess and server acknowledged this. My first issue began right when we were seated as it was directly under a vent. They did address this by turning the air down but I asked if we could move to an entirely new table, to which I was told we could move over to the left or right. Honestly, this was kind of a put off considering we had gone early, at 5:15pm and there were plenty of open seating. Forging ahead .. we were offered a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival, which was similar to a margarita, and chips with French onion dip & caviar which was a nice touch. For our meal, we went with the IDGAF option, which is chef led. Here was a breakdown of what we were served. First was an oyster with a mignonette, there was also some finely diced apples. My oyster was alright, albeit a bit fishy tasting, because there wasn't much flavor. My husband mentioned his was still frozen which made for a weird bite. Next came the seafood tower ... about 20 minutes after the first course. Our reservation time was 5:15pm when we had sat down, and it was 6pm by the time this came out. This didn't seem like ideal timing for courses. Anyways, the tower is obviously the most ordered dish at the restaurant, as we saw most people around us get one. I did enjoy this course, without much to complain about. There was enough for the two of us to get one of each shrimp, lobster tail, oyster, and then two scallops. Following this, they brought out a pasta in lemon sauce which was mixed in with the remaining garlic butter/chili oil in the seafood tower .. sounds odd, but it was delicious! Next, around 6:30pm came out the hamachi crudo and wedge salad. Neither my husband nor I liked the crudo, it was very fishy tasting and also sour/bitter. I'm assuming there may be others who enjoy it but it wasn't for us. I'm usually not a fan of wedge salad due to bleu cheese, and there was a good amount of it on the salad but after pushing it off, the rest of the salad wasn't bad. The fried onion ring looked great, but wasn't crispy/crunchy as I had expected. It was around 7:15pm by the time we got our entrees. My husband and I don't like the same temperature on our steak (I prefer well done and he prefers rare) so they accommodated accordingly. They served grilled branzino with fennel & capers, ricotta agnolotti "pillows of love", whipped potatoes with gravy, and asparagus. Lot of food, but completely lack luster. I liked the grilled branzino the most, it was flavorful. The pasta was very truffle forward, almost too much so. Whipped potatoes and gravy were way overly salty. Asparagus was fine but just asparagus. And the star of the show should've been the steak but it was just alright, I only had a couple of bites. Then finally at 7:40pm, we received our last course of dessert - strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate ice cream, which we were told they source from Sweet Republic, and a variety of toppings like sprinkles, peanut butter sauce, chocolate ganache, whipped cream, etc. I'm sure this was intended to look/feel extravagant but I would've much preferred a smaller baked dessert on a plate to end the meal. Service also got worse and worse as the evening went on. Between some random jokes when my husband asked where the bathroom was, and having to flag people down we wanted our check, etc. the price definitely align with expectations. We were seated right in front of the kitchen, which turned out to be the best seat in the house. For the next two hours it felt like watching a perfectly choreographed symphony. Every person had a role, every movement was deliberate. Chefs, line cooks, servers, hosts--each one moving with purpose, sliding plates, calling orders, resetting the stage for the next act. What stood out most was the control. The place runs with the precision of a small operation where everyone knows exactly what they're doing. There were staff with earpieces quietly coordinating tables and timing, team leads guiding towering seafood displays through the dining room like prized cargo. It felt less like chaos and more like watching a well-run command center. The teamwork was impressive. Then there was our server, Dillon--charismatic, quick-witted, and clearly proud of what he does. The kind of server who reads the table perfectly. Every recommendation he made was spot-on. At one point we joked they should just add a "Dillon's Choice" section to the menu, because every dish and drink he pointed us toward ended up being exactly right. The seafood tower was pristine and indulgent. The tomahawk steak was everything you want it to be--juicy, deeply flavorful, and meant to be shared over a long conversation. We ordered far too much food and happily leaned into the excess. At the end of the night we were handed a beautifully printed menu stamped with the words: "Happy F**ING Valentine's Day."* We laughed, nodded, and couldn't have agreed more. As parents of two kids under four--with another on the way--luxurious nights out are few and far between. The steak was tender and packed with flavor. Fries were terrible- it was like eating rough cardboard. Fried until there were dehydrated basically. The filet mignon was delicious. Tender, tasty and good sizing. My husband highly rated this dish. The Brussels sprouts were extremely salty. Both my husband and I found it hard to eat but tried to mix it in with the steak juices to wash out the heavy pour of salt layer. Every few bites you'd get a mouthful of salt pieces or like sipping on a full salt rim. The butter cake was Sarah's top recommendation and she was right! It's delicious. First timer here at Maple & Ash, the inside is absolutely stunning. It was my gfs birthday and they had a cute personalized menu for her. They immediately start you with a cocktail that is on the house, it was good for a little intro while browsing the menu. Their menu is very simple and straight forward. Our server whose name I forgot was great, thank you! We got the lobster dumplings, these were extremely small, I was not a fan. The steak tartare was a first for me, it was very mustard forward which I am assuming was used as a binder, it was a no for me. Their tuna was lovely. They only had one gin cocktail on the menu which is the one I got and it was so good, perfectly balanced. I went with the filet 8oz they were on point with the cooking, no issues. Just like any other steakhouse you must order sides, the potatoes au gratin were amazing with lots of Gruyère. The mushrooms were good just not my personal favorite. Sommelier had great recommendations on wine, they are so attentive with everything of course it's a very high end restaurant and I absolutely appreciate that. Our server recommended the bone in rib eye, and we also got the sea bass, the short rib bolognese and the pillows of love pasta, everything was awesome but the steak was very disappointing. Lacked seasoning, flavor, and for $100 steak, this was very sub par. Service was great, so I recommend staying away from the steak if you go. We mentioned it to our server and they gave us credit for the cheaper pasta dish which was unexpected but at least an attempt. This was our second time there. I brought my wife and parents visiting from out of town to Maple & Ash for Christmas dinner after previously hosting my wife's birthday and a few business dinners here. Ambiance and initial impressions were great as always - but once the food service began - so did the issues. Ordered a seafood tower as usual - this time with extra crab legs. When brought, the food runner was asked where the additional crab legs were and he looked at me as if I had caught him by surprise and said "yes, crab". There was no crab beyond that which typically comes with the platter we ordered multiple times. We then ordered entrees and a different bus person came to take the seafood tower away. In doing so he spilled the candle heating the tower (and the couple cups of hot wax on my 80yr old mother's hands, arms and lap - burning her). The bus boy froze while my wife took my mother to the restroom to handle the situation. The server returned and was advised of the event and shockingly laughed it off, neither apologizing, asking what could be done, nor cleaning up the table or chair that were caked with wax. He then proceeded to send out the next course without handling the wax situation. While the remainder of the food was as anticipated but the lack of professionalism in handling the wax situation was notable and reason enough for me not to return. I have no words! Truly an incredible experience dining at Maple & Ash. I love restaurants with dress codes because everyone looks so nice! Upon getting our table, we were greeted by our waiter and offered a drink (on the house) and a small appetizer from the kitchen. Both were delicious; the appetizer was a homemade chip and a dip with caviar. We ordered drinks, steaks, and two sides. Everything was seasoned to perfection and so yum. We ended up with scalloped potatoes and mashed potatoes by accident but no complaints from us. They also serve your first plate of food for you which was a pleasant surprise. My friend got a personalized menu for her birthday which is such a core memory! The restaurant itself is beautiful with the most perfect ambience. The prices are a bit high but well worth it. I made a reservation to Maple & Ash for dinner with a friend. Highly recommend a resy, the restaurant was packed all night! The whole restaurant is a vibe. Super moody and fun. We ordered the potatoes au gratin and asparagus for sides, tuna tartare for an app, and steak frites and filet mignon as our mains - we weren't impressed by anything. The tuna tartare was fishy and we could barely touch the sides. The only thing we would order again was the filet mignon. The best app was the complementary app, homemade chips with a creamy dip with caviar on top. We also tried a fruity cocktail and a tequila espresso martini which were strong but nothing special. Overall we had a great night with great service but the food wasn't anything memorable and severely overpriced. read more

Maple & Ash in Scottsdale presents a luxury aesthetic but lacks the culinary and service refinement needed to support it. The space is beautiful, yet the execution never reaches the level the branding promises. The evening began with an oversized amuse bouche served directly onto the table setting meant for the appetizers, with no plate swap or transition. It left behind a chunk of carrot top that I ended up eating simply because it was sitting there. An amuse should be a clean, intentional bite; this one was large enough to disrupt pacing and visually messy enough to undermine the start of the meal. The grilled oysters were flavorful, with a bone marrow level richness that was smoky and briny, but they were plated leaning on their sides so the oyster liquor and seasoned butter spilled onto the plate instead of staying in the shell. The best part was lost before we could enjoy it. The lobster dumplings continued the theme of missed potential. The dumplings were pre formed and placed in the bowl before the server poured the bisque tableside, a theatrical touch that only highlighted the flaw. The bisque had visibly split, the fat separating from the liquid, and the flavor was flat and in need of salt or acid. My steak frites arrived pre sliced and cooked to medium despite being ordered rare. Pre slicing drained the juices and dulled the texture, and the small plate left no room for the sides. The fries were skinny but unusually short, almost stubby, which made them feel like trimmings. The herb seasoning was overpowering and the salt level was aggressive. The steak itself had excellent flavor, deeply beefy and well seasoned, which made the extra sauces unnecessary. The mushroom sauce tasted good but had a faint grit that could have been avoided by passing it through a fine sleeve. The green beans had excellent texture but the flavor was completely off. Whatever herb was used turned sharp, bitter, and almost soapy, creating an unpleasant petroleum like note. Even non culinary diners noticed something was wrong. The summer squash dish had potential. The gremolata was bright and delicious, but the squash would have been far better if coated in the pine nut sauce first and then finished with the gremolata. The flavors were present but not layered in the right order. My husband's roast chicken was excellent, tender and buttery with a light, elegant smoke and crisp skin. The chestnut mushrooms were deeply savory and perfectly cooked. It was the one dish that felt genuinely refined. Dessert continued the inconsistency. The ice cream had large candied nuts mixed in, which disrupted the smooth texture that makes anglaise special. The chocolate cake, however, was rich, balanced, and well executed. The wine service was uneven. Our Bordeaux blend was served cold, not cellar cool but genuinely cold, which muted the fruit and flattened the structure. If I wanted a red that stands up to being chilled, I would have ordered a Beaujolais Villages. Serving a Bordeaux this way reflected a basic misunderstanding of red wine service. When I returned from the restroom, my Bordeaux glass was still sitting on the table with a couple tablespoons of wine left in it. It had not been cleared, and no one asked whether I wanted to finish it or have it removed. It signaled inattention and broke the pacing of the meal. My husband's Chardonnay was excellent, balanced and served at the correct temperature. The house amaro was also excellent, ginger forward and intentional. The martini, however, was not made dry despite specifying it and lacked the cold, crisp finish expected from a proper up martini. Other elements added to the inconsistency. The sparkling water was San Benedetto, which felt out of place for a restaurant positioning itself as high end. The bar displayed the 818 bottle shaped like an eight, a nightclub coded visual that clashed with the supposed fine dining tone. The offer of a Louis cognac service ranging from 150 to 600 dollars per pour felt more like a scripted upsell than a natural part of the evening. Throughout the meal, we felt steered toward higher priced items rather than guided through a thoughtful dining experience. read more
