My husband and I took our friends to Maple and Ash for one of their birthday's. I made a reservation online, and I made sure to leave a note that we were celebrating our friend's birthday so they would make the Happy Birthday menu. When we arrived, the staff were very nice and welcoming! We were sat in the corner of the enclosed patio area when only half of the restaurant was full, which I wasn't a huge fan of. However, the wait staff were very friendly and attentive! We ordered the octopus and lobster dumplings as an appetizer. We all ordered filet mignon and ribeye for dinner with the Brussels sprouts, baked potato, and mushrooms as sides. We also ordered the gooey butter torte and Irish coffee souffle for dessert. I brought my wife and parents visiting from out of town to Maple & Ash for Christmas dinner after previously hosting my wife's birthday and a few business dinners here. Ambiance and initial impressions were great as always - but once the food service began - so did the issues. Ordered a seafood tower as usual - this time with extra crab legs. When brought, the food runner was asked where the additional crab legs were and he looked at me as if I had caught him by surprise and said "yes, crab". There was no crab beyond that which typically comes with the platter we ordered multiple times. We then ordered entrees and a different bus person came to take the seafood tower away. In doing so he spilled the candle heating the tower (and the couple cups of hot wax on my 80yr old mother's hands, arms and lap - burning her). The bus boy froze while my wife took my mother to the restroom to handle the situation. The server returned and was advised of the event and shockingly laughed it off, neither apologizing, asking what could be done, nor cleaning up the table or chair that were caked with wax. He then proceeded to send out the next course without handling the wax situation. While the remainder of the food was as anticipated but the lack of professionalism in handling the wax situation was notable and reason enough for me not to return. In a city with plenty of good food it is service that sets restaurants apart. It is on this point they failed. read more

I have no words! Truly an incredible experience dining at Maple & Ash. I love restaurants with dress codes because everyone looks so nice! Upon getting our table, we were greeted by our waiter and offered a drink (on the house) and a small appetizer from the kitchen. Both were delicious; the appetizer was a homemade chip and a dip with caviar. We ordered drinks, steaks, and two sides. Everything was seasoned to perfection and so yum. We ended up with scalloped potatoes and mashed potatoes by accident but no complaints from us. They also serve your first plate of food for you which was a pleasant surprise. I made a reservation to Maple & Ash for dinner with a friend. Highly recommend a resy, the restaurant was packed all night! The whole restaurant is a vibe. Super moody and fun. We ordered the potatoes au gratin and asparagus for sides, tuna tartare for an app, and steak frites and filet mignon as our mains - we weren't impressed by anything. The tuna tartare was fishy and we could barely touch the sides. The only thing we would order again was the filet mignon. The best app was the complementary app, homemade chips with a creamy dip with caviar on top. We also tried a fruity cocktail and a tequila espresso martini which were strong but nothing special. First timer here at Maple & Ash, the inside is absolutely stunning. It was my gfs birthday and they had a cute personalized menu for her. They immediately start you with a cocktail that is on the house, it was good for a little intro while browsing the menu. Their menu is very simple and straight forward. Our server whose name I forgot was great, thank you! We got the lobster dumplings, these were extremely small, I was not a fan. The steak tartare was a first for me, it was very mustard forward which I am assuming was used as a binder, it was a no for me. Their tuna was lovely. They only had one gin cocktail on the menu which is the one I got and it was so good, perfectly balanced. I went with the filet 8oz they were on point with the cooking, no issues. Just like any other steakhouse you must order sides, the potatoes au gratin were amazing with lots of Gruyère. The mushrooms were good just not my personal favorite. Sommelier had great recommendations on wine, they are so attentive with everything of course it's a very high end restaurant and I absolutely appreciate that. This is a great place to visit if you're on a first date ,hanging out with girlfriends, celebrating something, we happen to be there the day they were celebrating pride brunch featuring drag queen show and it was amazing. Not sure if the extremely loud music was because of this event. Hopefully it was because of the event otherwise it might be kind of hard to have a conversation with the music being so loud nonetheless the food was great. We had a wagyu beef carpaccio with lobster and caviar. Followed by soufflé pancakes and a lobster scramble. The pancakes were simply delicious. It was more like having a dessert hence soufflé and the lobster scramble was delicious except that the lobster was a bit chewy some pieces like it was a little bit overcooked in some areas, but it was delicious. The ambiance and decor are amazing, beautiful restaurant. They give us a free welcome drink & crème fraîche with potato chips & a little caviar on top this was pretty good. We ordered the surf and turf, salmon and lobster dumplings. The inside of the dumplings could've been more seasoned but the broth was really good. The entrees were just okay, they weren't flavorful or well seasoned in my opinion & the steak was slightly under (I asked for medium but it was more on the medium rare side). This review is for the bar experience. We came for happy hour and had a great time! The happy hour drink is a bit too sweet for me, but I love their regular cocktail menu drinks! The bar is gorgeous, I love the decor is very warm. We ordered the seafood tower and it was delicious. You get a mix of shrimp, scallop, clam and mussels. The flavor is good, decent portion for $40. The Wagyu dip was ok, wish the bread was better. We would definitely come back for their drinks and seafood tower! Wow! My friend and I dined at Maple and Ash (each for the first time) this past Sunday March 23. From the moment we arrived to the intimate dining room with the white table cloths and the real candles, we were in love with the ambiance. The music was perfect for background without making conversations difficult. Our complimentary appetizer was home-made potato chips with caviar and dip--heavenly. Served with that were several mini-martinis which were prickly pear flavored. On this great pairing we knew we had found a great restaurant. Our server, Jessica, was amazingly helpful in guiding us on food selections and drinks. The "Attitude Adjustment" cocktail, for instance, was perfectly sweet and slightly spicy. The Caesar salad we split was uniquely presented and delicious. I highly recommend getting the M&A butter with your steak--it comes with an Instagram worthy table-side preparation that is great theater. Our main courses, Filet Mignon and Sea Bass, came out perfectly prepared. In the way of sides I recommend the asparagus and the amazing decadent french fries. We were too full for desert but the after dinner coffee was a delight and came with two bite-sized cookies. Kudos to Maple & Ash and Jessica for providing us with an amazing date night dinner. I wanted to take a chance to add to my previous review. Soon after posting my review, Kelsey Jordan from the restarunt reached out to ask about our experience what he could do. And after playing phone tags for quite a bit (I appreciate his diligence to connect with me) He explained the he was aware of the disappointing evening and profusely apologized for both the food situation and how things were handled, and asked how he could make things right. I explained that a special evening had unfortunately been a mess, both of us ending up sick. Kelsey graciously removed the charges for that evening, and welcomed us to join them again at their expensive to show us what an evening at Maple and Ash is really like. I look forward to visiting them, at some point, living in Ca. it may be a while, but the offer was a kind and thoughtful way to insure that we get to spend another evening with them. In addition to apologizing, compensating and welcoming us back, Kelsey was curious, and also wanted to know how in the world butter pats could have ended up in our pancetta desert. After discussing the situation with his kitchen staff, they explained they were was testing a new bread appetizer and they were working on unique molds for the butter, THIS is why the butter was ACCIDENTALLY in the pancetta molds. Although a unique situation, understandable. All this effort shows a commitment to excellence, not only did he apologize for the misstep, he wanted to know what he could to make things right, welcome us back, and he took steps to insure this never happened again. Working for over 18 years in the food and service industry myself, and coaching industry leaders I will say, I was throughly impressed with the level of professionalism, and dedication to make things right both for me and future patrons. I loved my dinner. Had a great evening. Yet I wouldn't return to Maple & Ash. To rephrase, Maple & Ash didn't do anything to make me want to return. Being the most expensive dinner I've ever had, it should have the best service, expensive feeling atmosphere, and of course some of the best food. I expect to be very well taken care of. They delivered on the food front. Wow-Everything on the table was excellent and perfectly prepared, from cocktails to entrees to sides and desserts. The bar room is beautiful, the dining rooms less so but still elegant. It made the place less attractive that half the diners were dressed so casually. I know we dress casually in Scottsdale, and at the same time there are still places in town filled with people who made an effort. Maple & Ash is not the place for people watching. Service made me feel like I was being ripped off. Our server was also covering at least 4 other tables. Really, how much in tip money does one server need? This one server was taking care of at least 15 people, each person spending about $200. Imagine that server's tip haul for the night. Goes without saying, I hardly saw our server and everyone's drinks went empty for some time before we were checked on. We chose this beautiful restaurant for brunch on our last day in Scottsdale. It's located near the fashion square mall. Hubby called in the morning to change our reservation time and they happily accommodated our request. The corner booth seating was so spacious and cozy for hubby and I. We went for brunch "I don't give a f*@k" set menu for two. The amount of food we got was enormous. Even though this restaurant wasn't gluten friendly but they tried their best to accommodate my gluten sensitivity. We loved fire roasted seafood platter and truffle scrambled eggs. Caviar service was divine of course. Hubby loved the pasta and steak but it was too much food for him to finish by himself. The welcome coffee vodka and flowing champagne were great with our comfort brunch food. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive the entire time. I went back and forth on my rating, here's the pro Ambiance-we were lucky to sit by bar in our own booth which felt private! Food-amazing which is satisfying because your bill is definitely going to be steep here. Con: So with that because this is a fine dining establishment, the service was flat. Waitress never introduced herself just came over with her pitch about the free drink, which prompted us to ask if she was our server and to introduce herself. She never told us she was leaving and then another kind lady started to help us, I guess since she knew the tips were shared she didn't have to tell us she was leaving. Another guest next to us called her out immediately for not saying good night. I eat out quick a bit at expensive spots so the above and beyond service was missing, and could have made this a five star. Little did she know, the notes should have said accordingly. When I approached our server Amy regarding the birthday note and menu, she said "I usually present the menus at the end however, if you want it now, I can get it. HORRIBLE! I have eaten at the Maple & Ash in Chicago, and it was fantastic. The same cannot be said for the Scottsdale location. My wife and i made reservations to dine there last weekend, and requested to sit at a quiet table. The hostess sandwiched is between two, large tables with loud, obnoxious, drunk diners that acted like prepubescent teenagers. Enough about the ambience . . . It took a LONG time for a waitress to come to our table. When she finally came, we ordered some cocktails, some salads (as appetizers), and a loaf of bread. It took forever for the drinks to come, and the waitress brought me the wrong drink. It took over one hour for the bread to arrive, and that was after me asking repeatedly about the bread. The main meals were fine, but dessert was another troubling matter. I asked for a cappuccino, and the waitress brought me an espresso, and it took a long time to arrive at the table. BOTTOM LINE: I would not recommend this restaurant, especially with all the great restaurants in Scottsdale that offer excellent ambiance, food, and service. read more

I really enjoyed the complimentary salted pear mini martini they gave me when we got there! It was so good I ended up ordering that one as my cocktail for the evening. Typically I not into the salted sweet craze and this did not even taste salty at all, it just tasted like a less sweet lemon drop - REALLY delicious!!!! The welcome crudite of white bean something or other was OK. I first ordered the ceasar salad and did NOT like this at all. It was like semi warm romaine and dill pressed tightly together to form a loaf (LOL) then covered in heavy dressing and smothered with too much parmesan. Sounds terrible, right? No wonder I sent it back, it was SOO much dill I couldn't eat it. I requested to change it to the wedge salad (but I don't eat bacon or blue cheese) so I had to modify it a little. And this salad ALSO tasted very strongly of dill. I guess the head chef really likes his dill! Because when my main entree, the salmon showed up in a sauce, it was also surrounded by lots of (you guesssed it): DILL~! LOL. I mean I do like dill but this was a bit overboard. The truffle baked potato was pretty good (the truffle was overshadowed by the bacon). And my favorite part of all was the brussell sprouts. Also, I took the salmon out of the sauce and put a tiny bit of of the sauce on and it and then it actually tasted really good. The service was good and friendly. My husband really enjoyed his steak frites, wedge salad, all of the super thick bacon (thickest bacon I have ever seen) and the sides. This place is beautiful on the inside. The decor I believe is chic and very inviting. Very upscale. The service was fantastic. The hostess who seated me at my table was super cool.
