Five stars for the atmosphere. I love the decor and I think I may need to redecorate my kitchen now! They definitely spared no expense on the interior design for a sophisticated but casual feel. The food was great- I would also rate food a five star. I was there for breakfAst and had the chicken hash which was really good. I also had to try the lemon ricotta pancakes which were absolutely amazing. What I didn't enjoy was their process for seating. You have to go to the counter and order and then they seat you. It's serve yourself drinks at the fountain machine. So this works for Chipotle when I need a quick lunch. Im not going downtown, parking in a garage for a quick lunch. I just don't think the whole "fast casual" works for this setting. We were waiting for another person in our party to arrive, so we sat to wait. The host came and made us move. It was just inconvenient. Maplewood is a restaurant not "fast casual" eatery. The decor makes you want to stay. We all had excellent meals and have nothing to complain about. The only thing I'd caution you on is the prices for the fresh juice. WOWZA! It was like buying a beer at a sporting event. Ordering was quick and easy. My food arrived quickly and at perfect temperatures. The self-serve coffee was delicious and plentiful. I was able to fill a bottle with my choice of still or sparkling water on tap. I'm a sucker for sparkling water, so I found this perk especially pleasing! My food was delicious. I ordered a Greek yogurt and berries (I'm picky, y'all. The mix of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries were perfect-not old or unripe. They were perfect for eating right that minute!!), a side of applewood bacon (4 perfectly crisp strips!), and a side of lemon ricotta pancake because I couldn't visit this place and not taste that dish. Wood tables about with comfy seating options (wooden chairs, cloth padded booths, high-top seats at the bar). The big windows looking out on the downtown street encompassed their urban vibe well. The menu, clipped onto wooden clipboards in a basket by the ordering counter, was good on the options. PS, not sure why they don't also have menus by the front door. I would have been able to decide what I want to eat BEFORE I was the next patron standing in front of the register figuring out my options; just a suggestion. After you order, customers are given a flashing vibrating pager, and the food runners bring your food to your table. I got both the Lemon Hummus and Guacamole appetizers. The hummus had a lemon pucker, maybe more chickpea flavor, less lemon pop, I would have fell completely in love. I'm not a fan of crisped pita chips to go with hummus, period, so that was a personal frown. Warm, soft pita is my kryptonite. Now, the guacamole? TAY-STAAAAAY! The hujass chicks of avocado. This is one of my favorite brunch places to go when I have visitors in town! It's in a desirable downtown location, so with that being said be sure to leave time to park! Once you arrive there's usually a line to order food! That's right your order before you sit down! However once you order and pay you hang out at a "waiting table" until a host or waiter seats you! I'm guessing that's to ensure a group of two doesn't take a table of six! Once seated, your food is brought to the table. Easy enough. Now on to the food. Everything is farm to table which is a pleasant treat. But my favorite? I LOVE that chicken tinga. So much so I always forget to take a photo!! It's one of their most popular dishes and I'm so glad it was recommended to me. I've also tried their bowls and those have been great as well. Finally, they have really good drink options, but as a water fan I love that they offer sparkling or still! Lastly, the indoor decor is so nice!! Check out others photos! The smores cookie was crispy on the edges and perfectly chewy in the middle. It was loaded top to bottom with chocolate and marshmallows. I have been to Maplewood a few times. Overall I find it enjoyable with a few things I do not enjoy. Pros: - The food is really, really good. I have had breakfast entrees, grilled cheese, and a burger. All are really top notch. The side salad that you can get with a sandwich is really good. The fries are fine, but because they are thin cut, they get cold quickly (not the fault of the restaurant) - The atmosphere is nice, I like the openness - Paying in advance is convenient Cons: - The price point is a bit high ($16 for a burger and iced tea). I also in general hate the stress of tipping when you pay in advance but you haven't gotten service rendered yet. Like they are "just" bringing food to the table is that 10%? 20%? If it's 20% then it's about $20 for a burger with a side salad and iced tea where I didn't get true table service. - The seating situation is not my favorite, where you are guided right next to other people. I understand, it is crowded, but I still would rather find my own seat. I recognize that is more on me than them. read more

We were in Cincinnati for a day and I saw that this place had fresh juice so I picked it for brunch. When we walked in, we were greeted by a host making mimosas. He explained that we were to grab a menu and wait in line. We could get mimosas to drink during our wait. We did not but it looked like they took your glass at the register to pay. When you get to the register, you order and then wait to be seated. They have a nice drink station. We were seated after a short wait and our food came out quickly. I got the Power Bowl and I'm so glad I did. Fresh, organic ingredients and very nutritious as well! The restaurant is very modern and it's beautiful. I loved the open windows and classic look. The asparagus was chopped and blended well with the other flavors in the dish. The avocado and avocado puree on the plate was divine! The diner itself was very pretty and sterile looking. It was decorated with soothing artwork on a relaxing color scheme. It was also decorated with life- hanging baskets of ferns and green plants hung above. There were decorative arrangements of succulents on the table. Everything just looked and felt clean. The staff was most attentive. They kept our drinks filled and our empty plates removed. I had to chuckle to myself comparing my breakfast the day before (Cracker Barrel) with my experience here. Totally opposite in every way (well...expect for maybe the loudness factor). So I pulled up Yelp and found Maplewood. The reviews are awesome, so good they're almost hard to believe it would live up to it's hype. But it did. And then some... As you enter, there's a drink cart with fresh healthy juices (Kale, carrot, etc) and coffee. Nice! Then you grab a menu and head down the line. I had read about the cookies, and although I had no intention of indulging, I did when I saw the Lemon. It was more like a muffin top than a cookie, in a good way. And it was nice to have something to munch on while we waited for the main event. As others have said, you place your order, are given a number and find a seat. I was dying to try the steak and eggs, and assumed Bob would order them and I could go with the avacado eggs benedict. But he didn't...opting instead for bacon and eggs. So I had to get them. I had to. And these are nothing like the steak and eggs you get on special in Vegas at 2 a.m. These could be served in a 5 star establishment. Which this is...on Yelp!!! Well deserved. Only two small complaints - serving sizes are so large that one plate is enough for two. If you can agree which Bob and I never do! And it is loud. What I got was a fantastic looking place with lovely mimosas, kick a$$ food and awesome customer service. Wow... this place was just what I needed to start my day off right. After stopping at the door and getting a mimosa, we walked up and grabbed a clipboard that was attached to a railing to look at the menu. I couldn't decide on what to get, so I ended up with the Chicken Tinga and a side of the Lemon Ricotta pancakes, both recommended by others on Yelp and did not disappoint. While we were placing our order and paying at the register, someone came up and took our number and pointed to a table where she placed our number. We stopped by the water bar where we chose between still, chilled or sparking water and then went to the table with a great view of the restaurant and the street. I'm so glad I finally got to try this place! We came here with a group of friends for dinner. From the moment I walked in I was excited to be here. The location is also conveniently located to be in between downtown fountain square and OTR (about 5 blocks away) if you wanted to walk around afterwards like we had done. If you love cucumber flavors like me, this drink is perfect. The lemon and cucumber combo balances the sweeter white wine. I tried a few of the drinks my friends got as well and the cocktails were all served with great presence and tasted refreshing. This place looks like a fancy restaurant with the decor but it's more a fancy self serve restaurant where you wait in line and order whatever you'd like. Then they bring the food out to you. They come by refilling water but any drinks and things you want you order at the checkout counter. I had ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with the potato salad. My sandwich tasted delectable! The flavors were juicy and worked well together. The cole slaw balanced the spiced chicken so it actually didn't taste spicy at all. I was looking for some more spice but I wasn't complaining because it taste so amazing. The potato salad was also mixed with some green beans and had a mildly sweet and sour flavor to the sauce on top. Definitely paired well with my sandwich. I wanted to try something other than the typical fries with my sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. Everyone at our table was satisfied with their meal. The veggie burger and the tacos were all delicious and there wasn't a single thing left on anyone's plate at the end. The taco plates come with 4 tacos which fills you up. A friend of ours also got he snores cookie to share with the table and I have to say that was probably the best cookie I've had. They have it toasted to perfection that it's flaky and crunchy when you bite into it. It wasn't too sweet and was chewy, which I love! The prices for the menu items are very reasonable and everything for the most part is about $11-15 which is not bad for the proportions. The menu was very difficult to choose from because all of their options sounded delicious. I went with the Guajillo Chicken Bowl. It was filled with an assortment of flavors and textures. The chicken had some heat to it but was mellowed out by the fresh avocado and acid from the onions. The corn was sweet and the grains provided a nice balance. We have been to Maplewood several times now and we love the food. It's fresh and healthy options, which sometimes are hard to find in breakfast food. A few things keeping me from a 5 star review: - they are ALWAYS out of juices. We've been at different times of the day and there are never any juices available - we went on a Saturday to eat, showed up at 12:30 and the line was to the door. We weren't too worried as this usually takes about half an hour to get to the register. However, it was nearly 1:30 by the time we ordered and 2:10 before our food came. It was insane. We were starving by the time we ate. All the while we waited in line we counted at least 5 tables open. The line moved so slow. They need an extra register to fill the tables that are available and get people fed faster. We probably won't be back for a while with that slow of service. read more

This is probably the coolest food establishment i have been to in a while! From ordering to receiving food, Maplewood does it different in a good way. Almost everything they serve is fresh homemade, organic, cage free, grass fed, etc. I normally am not one to seek out these kinds of places but after eating heavy greasy foods all week we wanted to try it out and lemme tell you, It did not disappoint! You walk up to order and pay for your meal and then you can sit wherever you'd like. I love this because you don't have to wait around for a server to bring you your check. We ordered coffees to drink and a barista brought them out almost immediately. Our food was brought out shortly after and it looked amazingly Presentation is huge here you can tell. I swear we didn't even have to wait more than 10 minutes for everything. The food was delicious, coffee was fantastic, service was mind blowing. But what I didn't expect and wasn't happy about was that there was only one person at the register taking orders and there were plenty of empty tables. It wasn't until 20 minutes later that they added a second person at the registers which helped get the line moving. My friends visiting from San Fransisco were really confused by the empty tables and the long lines. I got a Super Greens salad which was good. And I had to get the lemon ricotta pancakes which were a highlight the last time I came. We got a pitcher of the cucumber sangria to share. After reading many, many good things about this place, I finally had an opportunity to check it out for myself. My husband and I headed down for Saturday brunch. The line was long, and we were worried we hadn't put enough time on the clock for parking, but it ended up working out fine. As many have noted, there are clipboard menus along the wall where you line up to order. You place your order at the counter, and then the manager will help you find an open table. This place is fairly spacious, but it gets very busy. We got a table up near the front window and loved every bite of our food to come. I had the Whipped Goat Cheese and Ricotta Toast, which features cherry tomato, pickled red onion, radish, micro basil, sea salt, and extra virgin olive oil. I also had a side of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, which were flipping delicious. They had a slight crust and a thickness to them that was akin to biting into a fresh donut. My husband had the Avocado Benedict -two cage free poached eggs, lemon and herb emulsion, 16 Bricks toast, and asparagus. I had forewarned him to expect a lighter take on the traditional Eggs Benedict, and he was completely pleased with this dish. We had also picked up a Cornflake Cookie when we were ordering, and this was the only aspect of our meal I found disappointing. It was a little too well-done, and I didn't love the flavor.
