Just Wow! We had a great lunch here. The short story is that the prices were good, the food and service were wonderful. And we are already planning on returning. We parked right out front in their lot. The restaurant is large. One whole side was not being used during lunch. There's a large bar/counter in the middle that was busy, too. We were welcomed and seated on entering. BTW, you won't have a language problem here if you don't speak Spanish. Our super friendly server has been in the US and West Palm Beach for over 17 years. They have quite a few lunch specials. They vary by the day of the week. We had a few appealing options from which to choose. They also offer the entire regular menu as well. My husband had the pernil lunch special with yellow rice with gandules (pigeon peas) and maduros (sweet plantains). Pernil is pork that has been slow roasted until tender. There was a ton of meat in his dish plus some nice crispy bits of skin. It was delicious. Pernil is a popular dish in Puerto Rico. He took a portion of his lunch home for dinner. I had the pollo guisado lunch special. This was described as chicken stew on the menu. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This was the tenderest chicken pieces in a light tomato-based sauce. It was very tasty. For my sides, I got white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. As a note -- I looked this up later when I got home. A more accurate description in English would be stewed chicken. In any case, I'd get this again. And I, too, took a portion home for dinner. We were too full to try dessert. My husband did, however, try one of their passion fruit margaritas. Instead of a salted rim, he got sugar. He said it was very good. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was good, but there are a few things to note: Mangu is only served during breakfast until noon (I think), and Mofongo is served after noon. So vegetarians can only get Mangu during breakfast hours. Some dishes offer generous portions for a good price, while others give very little food for a higher cost. Wonderful place. Had a very nice time here. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming, prices were excellent (lunch specials were like $12 and under), and the place is nicer than expected. I just wanted some good Dominican food and didn't care about the atmosphere but it was lovely inside. Very clean as well with nice bathrooms (walked here from the airport and was sweating profusely from every part of my body so freshening up was crucial). I had the carne guisada and it was a huge portion but that didn't stop me from effectively licking the plate clean. The plantains, rice, and beans were all cooked well. Everything that the people around me ordered looked tremendous as well. If I have one complaint, it's that the michelada wasn't great. To be fair though I consider myself a michelada connoisseur so my standards are high. It was fine but a bit lacking in flavor and too expensive. Overall a great place and would definitely go back. We arrived right before 11pm and were able to order food before the kitchen closed. The mofongo was very good, the octopus salad was ok; the chimi was ok. Being a Saturday we expected some kind of a crowd but it wasn't that busy. This is a spot that was completely new to me. It is very nicely decorated inside with ample seating, and they even have an outdoor area that they seem to rent out for events. We were sat fairly quickly. They did get steadily busier the longer we sat there which contributed to higher wait times for the food and for the server to come around and refill drinks. So that's something to look out for. We ordered the Dominican breakfast. Unfortunately, they were out of mangu for the day. Not your typical Dominican restaurant. It's "Dominican like" but there are others in the area 100% Dominican. Being a native, I can preach. I won't go down the list of differences but I will say that the food was still good and the service was great, can't knock that. Half the menu offers things that are more in line with an American style of cuisine while mixing Dominican/Caribbean like sides. It was a Tuesday night but the place was completely empty when I walked in and stayed like that entire time until we left when there were two more couple there. The place is pretty big and can sit a lot of people, so the fact that it was empty was glaring. Again it was Tuesday, so maybe on the weekend they get better foot traffic. Food is authentic Dominican food not sure what others are nagging about... the atmosphere and service are amazing and a bit more classy than other Dominican Restaurants in the area. Clean, good ambiance, definitely not trashy or ghetto. My parents are both Dominican and we owned a few restaurants in the Bronx, NY since the late 80', so I have been around Dominican food since I have recollection. A friend recommended this restaurant, and I immediately checked out the reviews. Based on the reviews, I felt skeptical that this was going to be a good Dominican Republic restaurant. I had been to this place when it was another restaurant, and I will say they did a great job at redoing the inside. Lots of seating, a nice bar area, and an outdoor patio with plenty of seating as well with nice decor (I'd definitely do a small birthday party or event there). The restaurant also has lighting and speakers throughout, so you know that at a certain part of the day, my Dominicans throw it down party style. Let's talk about food.... started off with some beef empanadas, and they were good. Not greasy, crunchy outside, and flavorful filling. They were brought out with some pique, and it was fire , oh so good. I could eat that with everything! The 4 golpes con mamgu was delicious. The mangu was suavecito. The chefs did not cheap out on the pickled red onions.‍ The pernil with habichuelas rojas (red beans) and rice took me back home good. Arroz con gandules with pollo a la plancha (which was a huge chicken breast) did not disappoint. Oh, and how could not mention the Morir Soñando which is like an orange Creamsicle in a glass, delicious. Ended the meal with a little cafecito. Our server was awesome, very attentive. Don't bother with this place. It is a typical South Florida rip off. These places come and go quickly and this one will definitely go sooner than most. Over priced and inedible food. Apps tasted like freezer burn and the condiments were from cheap bottles. Steak was ordered well but was delivered pretty much raw. Made from the tough hard to chew inside skirt and not what a real restaurant would use outside skirt.
