Considering the positive reviews, my expectations were set high. Unfortunately, my overall experience fell short. There was a party of 40+ that night and our food took a very, very long time to come out. I even noticed that tables around me were waiting on their food as well. Appetizer for ceviche came out quick but not very cold. It was an average ceviche. I've had better elsewhere. The drinks (marabu mule & spicy mango margarita) were decent. Skirt steak was overcooked. I ordered it medium but received close to well done. My dad's short ribs al carbon were so tiny! Also too charred. My skirt steak was also kinda burnt on the ends. My mom's local fish dish was bland. I enjoyed the side of mashed potatoes.. Best dish we had was the meringue cake. Our server was really nice though. I'm sorry but the food was not great. They automatically charge a 18% service fee which I thought they didn't deserve. Overhyped.

Most important: We came here because we looked for vegan Cuban options online, this has them listed online... There are 0 Vegan options here. So, if that's important to you, that online menu is wrong. Very good food. I loved the Cuban but that wasn't universal at the table. I thought it was thicker yet lighter than average and that was a nice change, other Cubans can be VERY dense. The drinks were very popular, I got a Cuban Old Fashioned. The espresso martini did great too. Great maduros.

Great dinner at this spot! Will come back for sure: must try's: the octopus appetizer (10/10), the tomato salad with strawberries and burrata (same) and the short ribs al carbone. Skip the shrimp and the wine - do a cocktail instead and get 2 of the octopus Lovely service and atmosphere!

If you're near the Brickell city center area, I would recommend coming to Marabu located inside the mall. To my surprise, there's not a lot of Cuban restaurants in the brickle area. You have to go outward a little bit so we were happy to have found something nearby . You can either get seated on their patio or inside. We opted for outside seating. I had their Vaca Frita plate and it was plenty. Service was kind and quick.

Came here based on the great reviews and we were not disappointed! We sat at the bar and the drink menu looked delicious! During the course of the meal I tried the traditional Mojito, Guava Mojito and the Cuban Old Fashioned, they were all absolutely fantastic. We had the pork and the flank steak both cooked over coals from Cuba. Both meals were incredibly flavorful and the black beans that came with the steak were the best I've ever had. Our amazing bartender Tony highly recommended a traditional Cuban dessert which resembles bread pudding but was delicate and had the best flavors. Overall this is the best restaurant I've been too in a long time. If you're looking for a great meal that is unique and won't break the bank, going to Marabu is the best decision you can make!

GRILLED OCTOPUS (J) ROPA VIEJA EMPANADAS

Everything from the service to the food phenomenal. The empanadas were really good and the octopus was cooked to perfection, it was like they caught it morning of, so soft and the eggplant to accompany it was just a chefs kiss. I don't know what they put in the egg plant but WOW. It was so good Ribeye didn't feel like 18oz but nonetheless it was still good. I'm not sure if I'd order again. My three sides were plantains, fries, and yucca. The yucca here is definitely different that what I've had in the past. The texture was similar to a mozzarella stick lol Plantains were sweet and so good! Octopus and Eggplant: 10/10!! Empanadas: 8/10! Ribeye: 7/10! Fries: 3/10 Yucca: 5/10 Plantains: 7.5/10 Service: 8/10

Came here to celebrate my grandmother's birthday and it was such a great choice. This place truly and accurately represents Cuban cuisine. We ordered a passion fruit mojito, and it was exceptionally made -- refreshing, well-balanced, and the perfect way to start the meal. The meats, cooked over coal, had that incredible smoky flavor that made them stand out. You can really taste the difference in quality and preparation. The fried rice was packed with flavor, and the lechón asado came with yuca and morro -- all perfectly cooked and so satisfying. To finish, we had Abuela's torrejas (bread pudding) for dessert, and it was the star of the night. The dulce de leche ice cream on top made it absolutely incredible and tied everything together perfectly. Overall, it was a great experience with fast service, amazing food, and a beautiful way to celebrate. We'll definitely be returning.

Wow! Coal-fired Cuban cuisine is unique and flavorful. The smoked masas de puerco was presented over charcoal. It was tender and tasty. The delicious Marabu Mule had the addition of guava. We also enjoyed the Marabu Ceviche with citrus marinated fish and shrimp, crispy corn nuggets and sweet potato chips. Marcia provided the best service. We appreciated her educating us on Cuban food. The ambience gave us a taste of Havana.

Best happy hour in an outdoor mall. On top of the great shopping Brickell Center has , they also have some great restaurants to dine in once you get hungry and those restaurants all have great happy hours but Miami is known for having great Cuban food so I'm gonna do Marabu. The mojitos were amazing and the food was too. I went on a Wednesday at 4 pm and got some nice outdoor seating to enjoy my apps. I also had the steak but honestly those sweet plantains stole the show for me as well as those tostones.

We tried Marabu on a whim as we were staying overnight in Miami before a cruise. We wanted something that was different and unique. The location is inside an outdoor shopping plaza so it was a little hard to find because it was on a top floor but the ambiance was great! The food fantastic and the service was awesome. You can't go wrong for a little date night while you are in Miami.

visited marabu several times during my last visit to miami. the happy hour menu has incredible drinks at great prices. i tried the espresso martini, lychee martini, and the passion fruit mojito. all of these drinks were great and the atmosphere was pleasant. i will definitely be returning to marabu on my next visit! read more

Arriving to Brickell City Centre (BCC) with no particular plan, but hungry bellies found their way to Marabú. The smells (and shorter line than Tacology) intrigued us to try. I checked in on the app and noticed a mojito special which they thankfully accepted - I wanted one anyway! It's obviously not difficult to find good Cuban food in Miami, but I enjoyed the new flavorful twists on classics like the vaca frita. Also enjoyed the generous portions Cubans are known for, thankfully their location in BCC does not dictate a fancy/small plate. I would return if in the area; however, there is tons of worthy competition. 4* for packing in the tables like sardines, which isn't the most comfortable environment (COVID or not) and uneven service (friendly, but pulled the disappearing act towards the end when you're ready to lay and leave). read more

Marabu is located on the 4th floor of the Brickell City Center. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant decor is beautiful with the aged iron structures. The food is fantastic. We visited during the pandemic and sat outside. We ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken, grouper, mussels, croquetas, and bread pudding. The chicken was super juicy and tender. The grouper itself was a little bland and dry but the paella-like rice that it was served with was great. The croquestas were so crispy on the outside and flavor packed inside. The bread pudding was amazing. Our server was also extremely nice. We have been back multiple times since for carry out desserts. read more

I was a bit skeptical about eating at restaurant in a "mall", but was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was beautiful and the food was AMAZING! I mean I could see the cooks in the back making the food from scratch!!! The staff worked as a team and provided a seamless experience. Johana had such a great energy and provided great recommendations especially as first-timers. Must visit and you have to get the short ribs, no the pork, no the rice and beans....nevermind get it all!!! You won't be disappointed. read more

My friend and I were visiting the area and found this cute Cuban gem at the City Centre. The restaurant has real cute decor on the inside and patio area. Even the bathrooms are decorated really nicely. The hostess got us seated immediately at a booth and our server, I believe was Andrea, came to take our drink orders. We got the Happy Hour Mojitos which were so refreshing! Then we ordered the half chicken with the beans, rice & plantains. The chicken was very delicious! Full of flavor and tender. The beans were definitely my favorite. The seasoning was so fulfilling. And I always love plantains and theirs were great. I would definitely visit again when I'm in the area because I really wanted to try their Cuban sandwich but it's only available for lunch. read more

100% geared towards tourists. This is not authentic cuban cuisine. First of all, we asked for regular water. Along came a $10 bottle of flat water. Diet coke came in small, 8 oz bottles at $5 each. After taking our order, our waiter told us he would bring "mariquitas de la casa" (plantain chips) while we waited for our food. We are still waiting for that. Next, our appetizers and food came out all at once. The main winners were the empanadas de ropa vieja, although $14 for 2 very small empanadas is a bit rough. The ropa vieja was good. Biggest loser was the cuban sandwich....not on cuban bread, served cold, not toasted, a dijon style mustard...nobody at our table finished more than half their sandwich. I get that it is a restaurant located inside a mall but for the prices they are charging, the food should be at-least decent. We were a party of 5 and all unanimously agreed we would not consider returning. There are much better options in the area. This is a hard pass! read more

Exceeded expectations. The food was very tasty and fresh. We ordered the stuffed tostones to start and shared the black grouper. The portion was small but satisfying. Marabú is the newest spot in Brickell city center. It is next to tacology. The place was packed which is always good to see. Make sure you make a reservation as the wait time can be quite long. Marabu has indoor and outdoor seating, the decor in both is really cool. They did a great job of modern industrial. So first let me start with the soso. The drinks took a long time to get to our table and we ordered two rounds. Our appetizers came before and we ordered them at the same time. Secondly the vaca frita was dry. I'd have to say it was a little over cooked. Putting some lime on it definitely helped but it needed a whole lime to bring it back. Just a note, one of our friends ordered the masa's de puerco which came out on a little wooden box with glowing red charcoal inside. We booked a 6:30 PM reservation so we could grab a happy hour drink before hand. I think the cocktails at the happy hour bar are different from the regular menu. I had an apricot gin cocktail that I didn't love, but was decent and a slow slipper and my husband had a campari cocktail that is great if you like campari. The bartender was accommodating and overheard me asking my husband if he knew how to spritz the lemon peel like she did but he hadn't been paying attention so she did it again. For dinner, I spotted the table next to us dining on the rolls and Caesar salad and decided I wanted both. The server mentioned that salad is one of their most popular. The rolls were light and fluffy, and very large with sweet and savory honey butter. The Caesar salad was good. It comes out as large leafs of romaine, which is a nice presentation but I do think that leads to breadcrumb and dressing distribution being uneven. It was a very good salad dressing though, not too tart or heavy but still creamy and zesty. For our entrees we had the cavatelli with duck ragu which was my favorite. There were both crispy and tender elements to the duck and the pasta just melted in your mouth. We saved a tiny bit of it to take home because we couldn't stop nibbling on it, and it was great the next day too. They brought our steak out after our pasta. We should have specified we wanted them at the same time. By the time our steak arrived we were pretty full. The steak was served tender and juicy. We got the Prime Hanger. I appreciated that the server mentioned their two less expensive cuts were very popular instead of trying to upsell us on their pricier options, as we were very happy with this option. We had some steak leftover as well which was delicious the next day too. As it was perfectly medium rare, we were able to heat it up on a skillet without it overcooking much. We ordered the Bernaise sauce with our steak, but it was not necessary and I probably would have skipped it. Service was good and pretty efficient. They made sure to check on us frequently but the meal was good without any additions. I don't remember if when booking I requested an outdoor table but their patio is quite hot in summer. I think they need some outdoor fans to help with the heat as I was shvitzing a bit. If I were to visit again in the summer I would make sure to specify the need for an indoor table, but I'm sure it's lovely in the winter months. There was also the occasionally fly near our food which did kill the mood a bit and some table fans might help with. There is a gravel parking lot next to the restaurant. When we arrived there was only one spot available so it does fill up.

I think since they don't even speak English I guess they don't even know what BBQ is. 3 of my co-workers tasted they pizza and they confirmed no Bbq sauce on the pizza. The pizza was dry and Burned . I throw it out. The worst pizza I ever had. Don't throw your money away.

We frequent this upscale Cuban eatery every time we go to the movies @ Brickell Center and it NEVER disappoints! From the warm welcome from the host, to the attentive and prompt waiter to the hustling but not obtrusive buss boys. Then there is the food and drinks! Classics Cuban fair presented in fresh and unique ways ... the lightly crispy croquetas stacked 4 high on a metal / wood spatula accompanied by a cilantro and garlic sauce was amazing And a most order!!! We had the Ropa Vieja empanadas, a trio of stuffed tostones cups w/ criollo shrimp, savory picadillo and that amazing Ropa Viejo and the truffle yuca fries served w/ traditional garlic sauce - I was transported back to my grandmother's' kitchen as soon as theses dishes crossed my lips. My son and I polished that off w/ a made on premise "cuatro leche" - spoiler alert, the 4th leche is a healthy dollop of dulce-de-leche ice-cream tucked in the middle !!! We also enjoyed potent drinks. A classic mojito that included a real slice of sugarcane stock and a skillfully prepared bourbon Old Fashion. And finally there was the superbly attentive service. Tonight the host was the lovely, and charismatic Luna. A native of northern Italy, Luna is a striking tall and slender young woman w/ olive skin, contrasted by long golden curly hues of golden blond hair that draped halfway down her back. She greeted us w/ a genuine warm smile and even put up w/ my corny dad jokes. Luna was not only this way with us but with every guest she interacted with... she was a pleasure to meet and exchange with. Then there was our server, Jenny - a bright, petit, and beautiful young woman w/ impressive dark onyx colored hair worn in a cute high ponytail. Jenny was very observant, attentive and relaxed in her approach and exchange w/ us. She skillfully read the room and tables she was serving ... watching her guests for the slightest need / request even from a far. She did not hover, seemed stressed or made you feel rushed.. Jenny made it feel like you were w/ friends. So did I like the place .. Yes, the food ... Yes !!! And the service ... a most definite YES!!! Be advised this is on the fourth floor of the mall...don't wander around and be late for your reservation like us (although they'll be totally gracious if you are). Carlos was our server and he was so delightful putting up with our indecision as everything on the menu looked incredible. Carlos recommended the house mojito to me - Mojito Marabú- having had a too-sweet mojito elsewhere I was hesitant, but the mint foam was delightfully refreshing and the drink was well balanced. Settled on la ensaladita de pepino to start - fresh and light with a hint of spice. A great starter to whet the appetite, and I will be trying to replicate that vinaigrette at home. Went with the branzino and the whole red snapper after Carlos talked us through options. 10/10 would order again hands down. The Josper grill flavor on the branzino was incredible. And the whole fried fish is prepared for you so you don't have to work through the bones - all the quicker to enjoy it with the irresistible house ponzu sauce. For sides we had maduros, tostones, arroz, yuca frita, y frijoles. I'd maybe skip the tostones next time but the frijoles were perfectly seasoned. I'll also note - my boyfriend is Spanish speaking and I am...Spanish understanding? Just slightly? Carlos graciously let me practice my Spanish but transitioned to English with ease whenever I needed more detail. read more

I've had a very nice experience at Marabu Brickell today. Hostess Angeles was the first person I ran into and was very welcoming. Server Ivana who waited me on me was and is the nicest and most attentive person you can have as a server. She is always with a smile on her face. She is very professional indeed!! Manager Desiree, Busser Jose, Bartender or Mixologist Miguel( great cocktails) , Chef Yordany were all available and quick to take care of customers' needs. The food was delicious!! Kudos to Chef Yordany and the kitchen staff! The atmosphere was lively but not noisy. The music was simply the best. Great choice of genres. Its perfect sound level allows customers to enjoy the moment there, too! I truly enjoyed the place and service!! Keep up the good work!! I highly recommend this place to everyone!! read more

Absolutely perfection. This restaurant had about five staff members engaged in conversation around late lunch time were my husband and I arrived and they all turned and greeted us with warm inviting hellos. We were inspired by the well designed area and the well thought out decor. Most importantly the staffs engagement. It was very pleasant for our first time we experienced perfection. Our waiter Joao was extremely above and beyond our expectations. We shared it was our first time he gifted us a wooden welcome fan with restaurant name definitely recommend and will return with family and friends. This place was great! I brought my family here all the way from Kansas City. This place left us with an experience of what Miami's culture is all about. At first, our server greeted us in the best way possible. He quickly arranged a table for 9 people and treated us as royalty. The food was good, the drinks were awesome. The attentiveness of the server Joel and Leonardo was incredible. If you ever want to come to this place ask for any of them. My mom did not enjoy the first round of her drink and they went above and beyond to find something that would please her. I find it that the service staff really knows how to treat their guests . I recommend this place if you are in the Brickell Area. PS: the Paella Campesina was the least favorite. But everything else was great. read more

I dined with Arianna this afternoon and my experience exceeded my expectations! I am traveling from out of state and stopped in the mall with my friends to grab a quick bite to eat and ended up with an unforgettable lunch! Arianna was very attentive and her recommendations for the food were beyond amazing! We got the ribeye and the presentation was nothing like I have ever experienced before, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The interior design was gorgeous, and although we sat outside, the food was delicious, the vibe of the restaurant still reached us from outside, and the service was some of the best I've ever had for a very reasonable price! Empezando por la langosta que habiamos pedido que decepcion . 65 dólares, Red lobster supera este plato. Y no solamente por el precio sino por el tamaño de la langosta que por cierto solo la cola sirvieron , ahora el plato de camarones al ajillo simple la salsa y 5 camarones y demasiado arroz , el apertivo ceviche supuestamente llevaba coco pero era que yo me tenia que matar sacando el coco con el tenedor . My parents and I had been to the mall in Miami once before where the Marabu restaurant is located but this was our first time sitting to eat some dinner and i could not tell you enough how amazing the food is at Marabu, I had high expectations coming in and I can honestly say they not only exceed them but blew us away with every course we had, drinks and all! I went to have dinner at the Marabu restaurant with my family, I personally loved this place. The food was incredible, we ordered 3 appetizers, the first one was ham croquettes which were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. We also ordered a ceviche, amazing it was right on point and lastly we ordered some empanadas which were also very tasty. Furthermore, the ambient of this restaurant is very nice. The service was outstanding and the decoration of the place gave it a great vibe. Overall I completely recommend this restaurant and I am planning on going a second time. read more

First of all i was greeted soon as i walk over there and that's always amazing... my server Roberta was very nice, sweet and patient especially because i didn't really kno the menu and she helped me with that... also i believe he was the manager but lee was very amazing. He kept checking on us and making sure we was good and asking us if we needed anything. Love that.... Now the food was great so much flavor and i also will suggest the passion fruit mojito it was delicious and strong... exactlyy how i love my drinks... i would recommend this place if your visiting miami. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular hamburger and wow... there are no words. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (ketchup, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of specials, so it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. read more

Joao was amazing and very personable. Never been here yet made us feel welcome and was extremely attentive. I would come again in a heartbeat!! The Cuban Old Fashioned was amazing (we each had one) and the Tuna tostones and Ropa Vieja empanadas were great. Tostones with picadillo was so so but edible. I would not order that one again.
