PLEASE READ: !!!!!!!!The only reason why I'm leaving one star is because that's the least google let's me do. This place FUCKING SUCKS!!!! From the second I got there I should have known not to go further. Let me start by saying there wasn't a host on stand at 12pm when they open at 11am. It's a Sunday and they offer brunch is it your first day??Then we had to wait ten mins to be seated. Once we got seated we had to wait 42 minutes to get a drink order in. Then the server was no where to be found. We had to ask where the drinks were. When the drinks came they gave us the wrong drink orders. Then the food came out and there was hair in the food. Let's begin with the manager. He's a tall big guy. He sucks. I went to complain and he was NOT apologetic. He walked away and didn't care. Then I went back to my table and there was HAIR in my food. After everything occurred I talked to the manager and he said " you are the only table complaining" then he spoke among it with the host. I questioned why he had to discuss among his staff and point at my table. He did not care and said he didn't care about my input. At this moment I lost it and he said atleast I'm getting a free meal. THE FUCK obviously when there's hair in my food. My friend asked for the sour cream that they didn't bring with her meal and they charged her $2. The lady laughed and we had to show her the menu. I came July 7th on a Saturday and had Digna as our waitress. She was absolutely amazing! She came to the table with a big smile and her bubbly personality. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions we had. She was very attentive and definitely very good at her job. It was my husbands and I first time there and we had a fantastic time. We can't wait to come again!!!! If you ever go, ask for Digna!!!! read more

There's a lady that goes from table to table and asks guests if they want avocado wiith tomato's,onions and salsa,they DO NOT INFORM GUESTS THERE IS A CHARGE FOR THIS!,she made it twice for our table,I told my friend I will cover the check so he can leave,I receive the bill and it $76.82,for 1 Shrimp Quesadilla and 3 Happy Hour Margarita,I am then informed by the server that the Guacamole WAS $10 for the 2 we had,plus 2 more we had to go!,THIS IS NOT STATED ON THE MENU!!!,$40 for GUACAMOLE!!!,this place has a borderline nice atmosphere,poor hosting and if you have questions,you must be multilingual,this review is a culmination of incidents that were small to start with when they opened,but it has become obvious that Margarita Cafe doesn't care about the health of their customers (I can only imagine what goes on in the kitchen),I've spoke to management in a kind manner and have been literally brushed off,they treat customers as if it doesn't matter if you come back or not...I no longer feel the need to eat here ever again. read more

Horrible service, we arrived around 5:30pm was seated right away.... unfortunately the only thing that went right. We ordered appetizers and didn't fully get to order drinks. The server did not come back around as often to check on us. When i asked the waiter about a drink for my boyfriend he rolled his eyes and gave me an attitude. We waited 30 minutes before we got to order our food. After a while we realized certain tables that arrived after us were receiving food before we did. Came here to eat with my fiancé. Sat down after chasing and looking around for hostess, which was no where to be found. We sat for 30 min without anyone coming to our table. The couple next to us gave us a warning that they were there for for an hour and still waiting on there entrees. After speaking to them and asking the bus boy for our waiter. This was my first experience at this margaritas and I was super excited considering it's the first out door dining experience I've had since the pandemic. I've heard great reviews about the scenery and the food here but sadly my experience did not live up to those. We were sat in an area next to the restrooms and stairs which was a little uncomfortable for us. We asked to move to a table further away and were not allowed due to the distance protocols which we understood until seeing another family being sat there moments later. Our waitress was not kind to us she seemed like she did not want to be there serving my table. It took her 25 minutes to take our drink order and another 20 minutes to receive those drinks. Our food took 45 minutes to get to us and they forgot to make my food so I waited another 15 minutes, mind you they have a 2hr seating policy. When we finally got our food and began to eat she never checked on us but she did come back to rush us to finish due to our time being up. The food was good the service not in the slightest. The lady who made our guac was amazing she was so kind and the guac was DELICIOUS! I wish our tip could have gone to her instead. Also kind of weird that there's a motel on top of the restaurant and that I could see into peoples room as we were trying to enjoy our food. Came here for brunch. They just opened this location and the food was on point. There was no wait at all and mind you we can on Father's Day. It's by the water and the view is cool. Brunch prices are amazing especially for being by the water and quality of food. I would definitely recommend. Try the champagne punch for brunch it can creep up on you. I love love love the Margaritas in East Meadow, my fam celebrates every birthday there. I grew up in Freeport and was super excited when I saw they opened a new location there. I've been coming once a week since it opened and really been rooting for this place to get it together but unfortunately the food, drinks, service are not living up to it's reputation. At East Meadows I can't have more than two drinks and here I split a pitcher of Sangria with my boyfriend and all I felt was full. I've also brought several people here and hyped it up and they all left feeling the same. Right now the only thing this place has going for it is the amazing venue..they did a great job it's beautiful!!!! I'm sure I'll be back but not by choice but I'll stick to beers and guac. read more

I had the worst experience here. Came here for a party and now know to never have one here. There service was absolutely horrible. The people hosting the party hired a mariachi band that played at a low volume and people complained that they were playing Mexican music in a Mexican restaurant so they made the band leave. Then they told us we couldn't have dessert that our friends paid for because they were getting ready to close. What a joke, tried to call in an order and after I gave the girl our meals I wanted to pay with a credit card so my wife could just pick it up. Was put on hold for 15 minute, then I asked to speak with a manager and he said he would need me to bring the card there, they could not do it over the phone. Service was horrible. Asked for specials was told "two fajita $26. I guess since COVID no more weekly specials at this location. Food took forever to come out. Dessert comes for three people. One spoon. Asked for more utensils--got a plastic spoon. Here is what annoyed me the most: the bill was $125 plus change and I gave the server $200. My change was incorrect and she never came back to fix it. Nor could I find her to get it. It's very unfortunate that a place that has great food is losing customers. This had to be the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. First off we got sat, 40 mins for someone to come to the table and ask for an order.(should've walked out then) we were a table of 9, and we could see the servers trying to decide who would take the table and complaining. Our drinks took forever to come out. EVERY entree had something wrong. It didn't come with any of the sides offered.HAIR IN THE MEAT!!! I personally asked for syrup for the French toast as we went for brunch & got HONEY!! I had to walk up and ask for it and my server followed me up and almost got annoyed that I went even though he was wrong.Then sides ordered came as we were done with the food. Which was not at all what we expected especially after going to other locations and enjoying the food. Our waiter would disappear and rarely came to the table. The birthday girl went up to the manager (man) and complained. She got a response you should NEVER EVER get from a manager of a restaurant HE WALKED AWAY WITH NO RESPONSE!! You could see him laughing and POINTING TO THE TABLE. After going up to the other manager (girl) it was no help. After walking away we got see the manager has a good laugh at the fact that we were complaining ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! We finally asked for the bill on 3 different occasions to have ask again. The manager told us we were the only ones complaining and brushed it off. we finally get the bill and the charged for the sides that come with the entrees which had to be asked for 3 times. When we finally had enough the Manager was extremely rude, didn't apologize. I have NEVER see someone so unprofessional as a Manager in my life !! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!! Amazing experience every single time!!! I was just there yesterday and everything was amazing!!! The atmosphere and ambiance was great. Delicious fresh mexican cuisine!!! Great new spot in Freeport. Stayed at the Freeport inn and Marina right above the restaurant while in town for a show at Jones beach. Had great margaritas and food before heading over to the concert. Good decor and great service, would def recommend! read more

Big fan of Margaritas Cafe in East Meadow, Wantagh and Merrick. Unfortunately this Freeport location disappoints in every way. We where left waiting for over an hour while the manager sat his friends that just came in. Management is incompetent at running the floor and food is mediocre at best. We had a party of 11 and after over an hour and spending a lot of money at the bar and the mangers friends taking our table we walked out. Happy to spend our Money elsewhere after the way we were treated. read more

The one star isn't for the food because I never had the opportunity to try it. When you tell your guests the wait is a half hour, then the wait should be somewhere around that. When 45 minutes go by and there are still 12 tables to be seated ahead of you, it's an issue. So then I complain and the hostess wants me to squeeze 3 into a table for 2. Really? DO NOT GO HERE!!! I am appalled at the service of this location. I have been going to margaritas cafe in east meadow since it was the only location. We decided to try out the Freeport location and was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and attentiveness towards guests. We arrived and it took 35 minutes to get greeted. Once we finally ordered our drinks and guacamole, there was unwashed fruit with produce stickers in our sangria glasses. The chips and salsa arrived with the guacamole, and there were very little chips for 4 people. We asked (very nicely!!) for more tortilla chips being at this point we had been waiting for over an hour for our entrees to arrive and we noticed the bus lady growing very visibly angry at our request as she was shaking her head aggressively and stomping away. We felt so uncomfortable but we had so much guacamole and no chips to eat it with. Then finally after ordering, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. When it arrived, only 3/4 entrees came and they told us they forgot to put one in. Finally the 4th entree came, and we were missing sour cream, cheese and the tortillas for the fajitas. How am I going to eat my fajitas without tortillas!? At this point, the food was cold and we were very annoyed and disappointed. The woman that refused the tortilla chips, avoided us for the rest of the night and we no longer had water, silverware or our plates removed. The cherry on top was when we received the bill and we were CHARGED for the sides that were supposed to come with the meals. It is slow, unorganized so check your bill before paying and taste your drink before they leave the table because we found both wrong during our visit. Went here with a few friends. Started at the bar. Two of us had to wait around and try to find someone to pay for our drinks. Weird that we were searching for someone so we could pay. There was pretty much no alcohol in the drinks. Then we sat and had dinner. The waiters would put the used cloth napkins behind a stand by us on the ground which was weird and obviously in view. That's kind of a turn off. Besides that, We all agreed the food was good, but once again the drinks we got at he table had no alcohol. Same thing with the next drink. Three margaritas later and I didn't feel anything for someone who normally has a half a glass of wine and feels it! We. But first off we went in and the host or one of the serves because they didn't have a host said "oh shit there's a lot of people" and you know it's fine whatever don't really care if he said that. We sat down, took about like 10 minutes, that's fine don't expect them to do everything ASAP. We sit down they give us menus and we are good we are talking and having a good time. Then 42 minutes pass by and still no waiter. At this point they were ignoring us and they were arguing about who was going to take our tables because none of them wanted to. And it's not like we were being assholes to them and claiming our waiter to come. Btw this is a party of 9 for my gf's 21st. So this one waiter comes who's juan and he's cool he takes our orders and drinks. We wait another 25 min for our drinks until one of us asks. My gf at this point is like concerned at to why no one is being polite or attending us as we were not pressuring them or being nasty. The manager asks how many of us were and walks away and my gf at this point is like they don't care. We get the food and their happens to be hair on my girlfriends food. That's fine I go up to them and tell them if they can just give me another plate that it was all fine. Once again waiter nowhere to be found. But gave good service to the other people around us. So I go to the manager and was like "listen, there's hair in my gf's food I just don't think it's right if we get charged for it and if you can please do something about their server he's been ignoring us" and he literally looks at me and says "You guys are the only table complaining" at this point now I'm aggravated. As a manager you care about your customers, you try not to argue with them and try to make them pleased and it's not like we were being assholes to them and demanding them. You would think that during Covid, restaurants would be more careful but definitely NOT this one! I went with friends thinking that because it was outside dining, we were going to be ok and safe but people were seated all crowded together in one section when they had other open sections. When we kindly asked to be seated in a more separated area, we were told in a rude manner that it was not permitted. At that point we were considering going elsewhere where we would be seated more separated at which to our surprise, the waitress said that it was fine with her and even proceeded to ask if we were leaving or staying...totally uncalled for and disrespectful !!! We stayed because it was a Saturday evening and by that time, it was too late to find another outdoor place. We were also hoping things were going to get better...But when the appetizers came, the chips and guacamole were all on the same plate for the group to share like pre Covid times. I certainly did not like that. Then, the meals took forever to come which is fine with me but when you are told you have limited time to eat/stay, it becomes a problem because you are rushed and cannot enjoy the meal counting the minutes. We were so excited to celebrate a friend's birthday. The initial greeting by the hostess was very odd and unwelcoming. Due to COVID, we asked that she seat us distanced to the crowded area, but she stated that switching tables is not allowed. We were surprised by that response. Then she proceeds to tell us that we have a 2 hour limit to eat there. We explained that we didn't feel welcomed by what she said to us, but she didn't seem phased. Later when we asked a manager about the 2 hour limit, he responded that is was a mandate from the governor. I have been following the governors coverage and not once did I read about restaurants giving their patrons a 2 hour limit. I thought this was completely unprofessional and created an unwelcoming atmosphere that made us feel rushed. Aside from that, the food was just ok. Definitely not worth coming here. The scenery is beautiful as it is on the water. The decorations are also beautiful. So I give it an A+ for atmosphere but for a Mexican restaurant, the margarita is very weak and tastes just like processed lime juice. I have been to the other locations in East Meadow and Wantagh and the house margarita has never been like that. I complained to the waiter who told me "that's just how the house margarita is" and never offered to make a new batch. We asked for a shot of tequila to add to it, which we later saw on the bill fo $9.95. So all in all, a pitcher of margarita for $28.95 plus cost of the shot= $40 and not even a slight buzz. No manager ever came over to make things right. Food was tasty so we had our meal and left in peace. This location needs to work on their customer service..oh yea and the "salsa" served with the chips is watery marinara sauce. Disappointed. Let's start with the wait time. We called in advance to see if reservations were needed. We were told no. When we arrived we added our party to the list and was told 45 min. or more. It was definitely more over an hour. We became concerned when others were being seated before us. That was immediately rectified. We were seated by the kitchen; not ideal or esthetically pleasing. One person in our party wanted to substitute rice for anything else they may offer...we were told, " I don't know what else to tell you, everything here is rice and beans. " The waiter didn't even make an attempt to try or offer a suggestion like maybe a side salad. We were seated at 8:30. We received our meals at 10 minutes to 10. We never complained. NO apologies. The food was o.k.,..typical at best. I would not return. The portions were laughable. The sides were in a plastic Dixie cup and not full. Instead of beans one of just got sauce. The plates were way hotter than the meal...It was crowded. However,if you would take reservations, you could appropriately meet your demands. If you are under staffed, do not seat to capacity. I get it. You need money, but do not sacrifice quality. I could get a better meal at Yummy Taco, which we enjoy from time to time. With all of that, we did not say a word and gave a cash tip in hand.
