I came to this place because I had won a gift card at a charity event. I had heard such great stuff about this place and had high expectations coming into the restaurant. I got a margarita and my friend got a mojito, I must say the liquor content in these drinks were well worth the expensive price of the drink, the food however, was not. It may have just Of when the dishes we had purchased, but the portions and quality in my opinion were not worth the dollar value. My husband and I are from town and after weeks of trying to get into this packed place we finally decided to go there last night and were surprised to see the place packed around 5:00pm on a Friday!! We put our name down on the list for a table and decided to sit at the bar and grab a drink, and boy are we glad we did! We loved the bartender Melissa!!! She offered us a menu and told us about the happy hour specials so we decided to just sit by the bar and have dinner. She brought out delicious chips and salsa while we waited for food, never once did we have empty drinks and I highly recommend her jalapeño margarita!! She recommended the skirt steak tacos and they were phenomenal my husband got the Salmon and it was delicious as well! We will definitely come back to this establishment!! We love the decor and the atmosphere is great. It's nice to have great Mexican food in town for a great affordable price !! Been at this restaurant since 7 pm. Got seated at 8pm, ordered a drink at the bar and thank God I did because after being seated it was like I did not exist in this place. I had to hunt a server down for menus. Immediately ordered food, still no chips or salsa served 8:42 PM (when I began writing this review) . Decided to get up and ask for the manager since, at this point I was parched. Saw who I thought may be the manager walking toward the back of the restaurant and I stopped him to ask if he was indeed the manager. He told me he was. I told him, I didn't even have the opportunity to order a drink, nor was I served the chips and Salsa given to the neighboring table. He quickly told, "we opened yesterday" and that "we have new servers!" I returned to my seat. The server finally brought the chips and salsa (which was good) along with my steak taco salad (which was actually really delish!) and the manager shortly after came over and asked if I would like another drink. I said yes and he brought one over. My husband got his pollo Margarita which he was impartial about, def not worth the wait. At the end of the night my drink was comped which was a nice surprise. I would've liked a kinder response from the manager and just a little more attention at our table. Bad, really bad. Hate to leave a negative review and used to work in the food industry but I must warn others. Started out feeling optimistic. The atmosphere is fun and lively. The drinks are strong and go down smooth. But then you wait, and wait, and wait, and wait for tasteless, mushy, salty food. No acknowledgement whatsoever that we waited an hour for our appetizer. Couldn't even find the waiter two hours into the fiasco so we could get our check. Newer establishment or not: no excuse for total lack of service, slow kitchen, and lousy food. This place is a gem in the area- the lively and colorful decor is a nice escape you wouldn't expect in this side of town. We never have a wait and our servers are quick. The food is quite good, but average overall. I ordered drinks with a friend and we were mildly disappointed that they were served in dinky plastic cups instead of real glasses because we could see that other tables were served with glasses. I am completely embarrassed after bringing another couple to this restaurant. Out of the four adult and one kids meal that we ordered only one came back correct and multiple have been incorrect after the second time. When the server brought out the food the first time he came back with 4/5 meals and then after 10 minutes realized the last meal was never even put i to the system because he forgot the order and asked what we ordered. Then when he finally came over we asked for sides to be on the side of an entre and ask him to fix the error. They obliged and fixed the first two errors with no other problem. When they did we realized our plain chicken quesadillas 1 adult and 1 child's meal had no chicken in it so asked them again to fix the errors, again they say they will and bring out two new dishes the plain kids meal but the adult meal had sauce on it when we asked for it to be on the side. When brought to the attention the take it back and say they will fix it and proceed to wipe off the sauce and serve us the same entre with half the sauce still showing when we said it was a dietary restriction. When we ask for the manger he apologize and finally makes the dish correctly after everyone else had finished their meal. He proceeds to bring out one new drink who no one ordered to try to make up for every meal being incorrect and/or forgotten our friends visiting just look at each other confused. Both the server and manger came up with several different excuses which they couldn't get on the same page with. We were told the POS system was not working, that the kitchen staff was new, and that they had forgotten the order. Clearly the communication is not there at this restaurant and we now understand why the place was empty. read more

My husband and I went here last weekend. The establishment in east meadow came highly recommended but east Williston is closer to our home, so we chose to go there. We went at around 4:00 hoping it would be empty. It was pretty much empty. We were seated at a tiny table and asked to be moved to a bigger one. There were several bigger ones. We were told no. We each ordered a margarita. They look really pretty, but they weren't my favorite. Too sour. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer. They were flavorful and good. I ordered a beef taco, a chicken quesadilla and beef burrito. They sent me a chicken taco which was dry and had no flavor whatsoever. The beef in the other two dishes proved equally as dry, with no flavor. The burrito had over cooked celery thrown in and the quesadilla was mostly cheese. The beef in the dishes reminded me of tiny pieces of stew meat that were not cooked long enough. Very tough to chew. All three dishes were very dry with no flavor. My husband ordered some sort of lobster dish. It resembled a burrito. It came out dry and tasteless. Perhaps some sort of sauces or salsa might have improved the flavor. At the end of the meal the waitress came and asked how we liked our dinners. I pointed out I ordered a beef taco and I received a chicken taco. Her reply was, "ok". I will try the east meadow establishment but will not go back to east Williston site. Debated on 1 star but went with two because we liked the empanadas. read more

I live in the area and have been to this place countless times and the service is terrible. The servers are so disrespectful and rude and this has been going on for a while now. They tried to tell the group I was with that there was no special for margaritas but continued to give the special to other customers. They have rushed us out of our seat and forced us to order more food in order to receive drinks when the table had already ordered 3 appetizers. I think I have found my favorite Mexican restaurant in NY. I have been looking for a decent Mexican restaurant in NY ever since I moved back in town 3 years ago. The food was wonderful (great tortillas, does not taste plastic-y like most other places in town), and the service was superb. We tried the Wednesday special (1 appetizer and 2 entree for $20, great deal), and it was wonderful. The portions were just right. Overall a great place and I will definitely be a regular. read more

I was there with a small group of friends on a weekend. We were really disappointed. The food was mediocre and there was no space. Everyone was really crammed into a small area. While the service and drinks were very good, I wish the food tasted better. They had some decent entertainment. At the end, we had a special guest join us near our table. Giving this 3 stars because i ordered the paella and it was a big disappointment. Mostly rice and a few scallops and empty mussel shells and a few clams. Tuesday night / Service was very very good. The manager and servers were constantly making sure we were fine. I never had to ask for more water. We've been trying this place for the past week or more but it's been so crowded we couldn't get in without willing to wait 20 minutes or more. There's loud music a lot of people by the bar. Very happy place. Drinks were very good and the food was good. This is a loud place to have fun and drink. If you are looking for a quiet night out with friends then then place is not it. I came here to get pick up once before writing this review. The first time I had no complaints because it was during lunch time and there was no one so my order came on time. However, I ordered around 7-8 on a Friday and though I understand it is a busy time, I was told my order would be ready by 8:40 PM which is about 36 minutes. However I had to wait until 9:05 PM in order to get my food. People who were dining in and seated while I was waiting for my food were able received their food before I did. I am disappointed in the lack of the quality of food, customer service, and the margarita pitcher we ordered was completely watered down as they made the drink before I even arrived and I saw it on the bar counter while I was waiting. Overall meals were pretty good and the prices fair. Wait service was good. Issue with their gift card that left us with zero $ value and the business with more in their pockets. I have to say I do not like using gift cards and our experience with Margaritas reinforces this inherent aversion. With the gift card declined during an earlier visit due to "computer issues", we ultimately paid the bill and returned for another visit the following month. The overall experience was fine until we submitted the card once again along with the expected balance/gratuity. Waiter appeared to be talking with a manager, then returned to claim the card had a zero balance. I asked the manager what could have occurred that would've totally depleted a cards value. I explained the supposed computer issue the prior month and inquired whether the value was indeed drawn down at the time, unbeknownst to us. Asked if perhaps the card was never appropriately processed by an employee when originally purchased. No response or understanding. Asked if it was a corporate policy to return zero balance cards once the value is indeed depleted? Doubtful, but I was made to feel that I was trying to put something over on them. INDIFFERENT is the word I would explain my now 3 experiences at Margaritas Cafe. Clearly a pattern has formed and that's what's prompted me to write this review. 1. The older manager couldn't be bothered to lift his head up from his podium when people are lined up in his hallway waiting to be acknowledged, just didn't happen. We all started talking to each other asking "are we bothering him?" 2. Service is just getting your order taken and that's it, I asked about a few items on the menu and I was referred back to what the menu stated w a condescending smile (thanks I can read and my questions were never answered) 3. Food took a while to come out while it was barely busy (5:30 Wednesday night) and when it did it was warm, just warm; it clearly had been sitting for sometime before some realized it should be brought out. 4. The food runner twice said "be careful ladies the plates are hot when there was "2 males and 1 female" when bringing the apps then again during the entrees. Very odd and created an awkward environment. 5. Manager on all 3 occasions never greeted us good bye when we left, just silence from his podium barely an acknowledgement. WOW! So this was my first time coming to Margarita's Cafe. I've heard lots of amazing deals and things about this place. First the atmosphere and decor is really great. It's very comforting and very cultural. I came on Monday the 14th with my boyfriend and we sat at the bar. The Bartender, Leo, was honestly the highlight of my experience. She was sooo sweet and her accent is adorable. She helped me with drink recommendations and found me my favorite Margarita. It was the Malibu Red Margarita. My goal is to try every single Margarita on the menu! :) I also ordered empanadas and those were DELICIOUS!!! Leo was very conversional and made me feel very comfortable!
