We both laughed so hard when our food came. The night before my big surgery we wanted to find a fun place to eat with good reviews - Maria's Mexican Kitchen is what we landed on. How can you go wrong with Mexican food?! The ambiance is stunning. The entry way, outdoor patio, architecture, indoor seating, all of it is gorgeous and very inviting. However, the posh dining room should have been an indication of the prices we were about to be facing for our meal. The chips & salsa were brought out - hooray, but oof the chips were a dead ringer for Tostitos, and not the good ones. I've NEVER turned down chips & salsa, usually it's my first meal at a Mexican restaurant, but these chips were so bland I barely touched them. Then we turned to the menu & while we choked down the cost of everything on the menu we finally settled on a $23 Pollo Asada and a $23 Steak Salad - yes $23 for a salad - good grief! Let me tell you the expectations are HIGH when I am paying $23 for a salad & what a joke it was - hence the laughing when our food came. As the photos show, it was a few slices of steak with a garnish of "salad". My husband's $23 Pollo Asada was a few pieces of chicken covered in sauce. Chicken + Salad + side of bean/rice should NOT have been close to a $75 meal - we will NOT be going back. read more

Mexican food is my favorite (especially being from California). We decided to plan date night at Maria's and I am so glad we did. We were seated on the patio which is perfect when the weather is nice. The ambiance was great! We ordered the street corn, which was delicious, and the queso for starters. I ordered the enchiladas that had three sauces, red, green and mole. My favorite was the green sauce because it had a bit of spice to it. My boyfriend ordered the steak which he said was delightful. The cutest Mexican cocina, I ordered the tuna ceviche, which was absolutely delicious. I will say initially it was a bit too salty, but the server and service was outstanding. Mark Anthony was quick to offer a remake and brought the sesame and ginger sauce separate. I was able to mix in the ginger sauce to my liking (I only did half what was Recommended) and wow, amazing! My wife left me a note once that said she "...loved me more than Mexican food." Tonight I might not be so sure! We went and tried out Maria's Mexican Kitchen and WOW! I had the short rib, braised in a chile negro sauce (close cousin to a molé sauce), crispy fingerlings (fancy potatoes) and topped with Mexican crema and arugula. It was served with sautéed vegetables on the plate with rice and refried beans served family style. She had the El Señor which had 2 chicken enchiladas with a ranchero sauce, one crispy ground beef and potato taco plated with a serving of guacamole. I can't even comment on the salsa that was served before the meal. Next time I'm bringing my own mason jar to smuggle some out. We did ask and their tortillas are made in house which means the chips are out of this world! The food was excellent but better than that was the service. Top notch service, attentive, efficient, not overly intrusive but spot on with refills and clearing empty dishes. Maria's is well worth the money ($$ here on Yelp) you are going to spend. You may have to wait for a table but know ahead of time you can make reservations through their website and they do not offer call ahead seating. read more

It's an upscale Mexican restaurant and the food was delicious! We had the tuna tostadas, queso, and the seafood enchiladas. SO MUCH FOOD. Their salsa tastes fresh, very mild, but flavorful. The queso was nice and creamy. The tostadas were the perfect bite. I loved how the tuna had a bit of fish sauce in it. Savory, umami flavor. The seafood enchiladas come out like their "tres colores" enchiladas with three their signature sauces. My favorite was the orange sauce, I believe it had some chipotle peppers because it definitely had a slight kick. The enchiladas themselves were packed with butter poached shrimp and blue crab, they didn't skimp on the seafood here. Their sides come out "family style" but you can always ask for more. The rice was superbbbbbb. Definitely couldn't stop eating the rice and had to pack up 2 of my enchiladas to go. They also have happy hour M-F from 4-6PM. I had the "horned frog" cocktail which was basically a Moscow mule with tequila. Delicious and packed a punch! The queso we had was only $3 from the happy hour menu. The ambience was great for a date night or a girls night out. Felt swanky without feeling out of place in our normal outfits. Service was also stellar. 1st time here. Over all staff was friendly and food was really well done. Impressed how everyone helps out. Had the Barbacoa enchiladas. Chips are a thicker variety, and salsa had a great flavor. My biggest complaint is when servers grab plates/drinks when not finished. As a trainer for many years, ask your guest how it was and if they are finished before grabbing. Goodness all over this place. Met at the door with bright smiling faces and given a server that treated us like a cross between royalty and deity. It sounds corny but we left just feeling good about ourselves by the way we were treated. The food was the best Mexican i've ever had. From the lightly seasoned chips and salsa so good you want to eat it with a spoon to guacamole and main dishes that leave you full and satisfied. The entrees were so good with so many flavors that your taste buds may check out before you get full. Excellent bar and extremely quick in getting mixed drinks. I hadn't been here in a while and tried it again this weekend. The service continues to be top notch and the food is still great. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and they are always a win. The one thing I don't care for.. their cocktails. The variety is good, the prices are what you expect, the flavors are great but I hate the amount of ice they put in your drink and how little it really is of the drink itself. If I pay 16$ for a drink I don't expect a glass of ice. If I have a two or three sip cocktail at this price of course I'm annoyed. Maria's is presented as an upscale Mexican restaurant. We ordered the queso and it was cold and runny. Lacked flavor and barely had any guacamole, meat or sour cream. A major disappointment and severely over priced. I ordered the tacos, and asked if I could mix match them, fish, asada and pork and the waitress said I'd have to do À la cart and would be a lot more expensive. I settled on the fish Tacos but asked that one of them come with the mango slaw. All 3 arrived normal. They were good, not great. The sauces, including the salsa (served warmed vs chilled) were horrible. My sister had the asada tacos and liked them. We also received on the side refried Beans and rice. 1 plate, served cold. Maria's is my favorite restaurant in Fort Worth. The food is incredible, margaritas taste like heaven, and their staff is always incredibly friendly. Due to the demand at the restaurant there are times when service can be a little slower, but the incredible food, people, drink, and ambience make up for it. WELL worth the wait. I've celebrated many milestones at Maria's and will continue dining with them as often as I can for years to come. I live in Dallas now and still love making the trip back to eat at Maria's. Now I want to say the place is lovely inside, I was greeted by a host who looked me up and down, I can only assume because I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. It is Texas and it is summer, if there was a dress code then I would have been fine with that but don't size me up like you think I am beneath you and then greet me with "Can I help you"? Delicious food. It's almost too good for words. Our server, Andrea, was fantastic. She was super attentive but not too pushy. Keep in mind, you better make a reservation. If you try to walk in and get on the waiting list it will be a long wait and there is NO indoor waiting area. Furthermore, they will bump your wait on a whim--nothing like going from a 45 minute wait to 1.5 hour wait on a Wednesday evening. (We gave up and came back another night... With a reservation.) The hosts here are pretty snobby and will 100% roll their eyes if you don't have a reservation. Also, their entire parking lot is reserved for valet parking so cross your fingers for a street spot or prepare to pay. All that to say, the food makes up for all the other inconveniences. So come for the food and know that the experience will be mixed. read more

A great new upscale Mexican restaurant by the owner of The Tavern, Pacific Table, and Press Café (each of which has their own unique menu and atmosphere). You will need a reservation on Resy in order to eat at Maria's, and it can get pretty crowded. We have been there twice, and one time ate at the bar without a reservation, although the bar can get quite busy during normal prime hours. The parking lot is valet only, but there is a fair amount of parking on the street and nearby. The restaurant opened about three weeks ago and they are still working out the little details, but both of our visits hit the mark. The service is great, the food arrives quickly, and there is a positive vibe to the place. For a Mexican restaurant, I would expect a broad tequila and Mezcal selection, but they are still working on that. Nevertheless, each of the bartenders we interacted with knew their Mezcal quite well, and one of them had even lived in Oaxaca for two months. They definitely have a good start, but they need a menu specifically for these two liquors. There are several cocktails on the menu and the ranch water is excellent, as is the Caballero, and their margarita is handmade and delicious. All of the menu items we have tried are great. The chips and salsa appear to be house-made, and the salsa is served slightly warm and has a light kick to it. The guacamole is delicious and has a unique blend of flavors. So far my favorite thing on the menu is the crab enchiladas, which are served three ways. The light flavor of the crab coupled with the three very unique enchilada sauces make the meal unique. We have also tried the Enchiladas Tres Colores, the El Señor Special, and the Snapper al Carbon. Each were very unique and quite tasty. We will definitely be back! read more

So first impersonation was it's kind of a trendy, come for the atmosphere kind of place vibe. But honestly the food was pretty darn good. I had the Mole which was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The service was top notch but seemed a little snooty. It could be because of my initial impression so I don't want to make anything negative out of that. Bottom line...,I'll definitely be back and fully expect to raise my rating to 5 stars read more
