Breakfast at lunch! Gotta love it. Good meatloaf, brown gravy is silky smooth and works well with the mashed potatoes. Fried okra done perfectly. Everything was hot, portioned right and filling. Price is on point. Clean dining room. Service was great, Kim was accommodating came by to check on us multiple times without being too intrusive. After waiting 45 minutes, I went in to see the status of our wait. The young lady told me that she called and text the number we gave her but there was no confirmation on my phone. We have patronized this diner for years, however; I will never return after today. My husband and I came for breakfast and was told a 5-10 minute wait. No problem as we enjoy the food and service. After checking in another couple came in about 2 minutes after us and added their names to the list and was told the same wait time. Within about 6minutes one of the managers walked over and signaled to them and said "come on" and sat them. I asked the host why did they sit them before us and he responded the person who sat the couple was one of the managers and knew them and there was nothing that they could do. After standing there waiting another 6minutes or so I asked for a manager and explained my disgust in how that was handled. Regardless of whether the manager knew them or not, the order is set for a reason and should not be changed due to "friendship!" It's sad to say that I will not return here. Marie's Diner do better! The establishment is a true diner in that it gives you that "at home" feeling. The wait was a bit long, but well worth it (if you're in a bit of a hurry, consider going during the week). The food was awesome, filling and reasonably priced. They even offer mimosas with breakfast! I've been quite a few times and I can say that I've never been disappointed. I've had several of their omelettes, their plate covering pancakes and their chicken fried steak...all delicious. So, if you're looking for scrumptious food in a cozy venue, look no further. I am so excited to finally post a review of this place. I can't believe that we've lived in this area 5 1/2 years and had never tried it. Wait time: I read other reviewers who stated the wait time on weekends could be around 30mins. I walked in and was given a 15 minute wait time. The young lady took down my name and number and told me I'd receive a text when the table was ready. I sure did receive a text, actually one to let me know that I'd receive a text when my table was ready and literally another 5 mins after to let me know the table was ready. Ambiance: super chilled , nice and clean on the inside. They were pretty busy so I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable by taking pictures of the interior but just know, it's super cute! Waitress were very nice and immediately brought me coffee and my hubby his juice. Food: the menu is pretty huge! I wasn't expecting that. They have all sorts of items from breakfast to dinner to deli sandwiches. I didn't know what route to take lol but I chose an omelette (bacon , ham, and cheddar ) with home fries. Hubby went with the "Farm hand" which had HUGE pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon strips and home fries. Parking: when you first arrive there's parking right in front. But there's even more parking out back so if you ever stop by don't get discouraged. Make sure to check the back for parking. Rating the food : my omelet was so amazing! You can tell all the ingredients are super fresh and they are not cheap with the meat. Every bite of omelet was super meaty and it's pretty huge. The home fires were delicious, super tasty and even the biscuit was, wow.hubby loved the orange juice and his eggs. The pancake , OMG, HUGE, lol fluffy and yummy. I arrived at 1:15 on Sunday, party of one. There was no wait. I was second in line to be seated. The party in front of me, who walked in with me, was seated immediately. I was refused seating because " they close at 2" and are not seating any additional parties. However, I stood there and watched them seat three additional parties after refusing to seat me. To preface this review I need to say the food is always good and servings large. My family meets there several days a month for breakfast, usually a group of 8 or more. This day we were to be 8, 6 members had arrived and we asked for a table we were told that we could not be seated until all were there,ok, our last remaining members were in route. 3 of our family members are in there 80's so we asked if we could be seated until the remaining members arrived , we were told no. The remaining 2 members were caught up in traffic due to a auto accident. I told the hostess that the other 2 members might not make it due to the accident, she informed me that if we are seated and the other 2 show up they would not be seated. The whole time of this discussion the large table we usually sit at was empty. We then asked the mgr. and was told we could not be seated, rules was the answer. Marie's is a a spot no one wants to share and talk about. I know why, the wait is already long as hell. So don't go hungry, you won't eat for a while. The food is delicious, and never had a bad item. I crept the steaks are bland and that's just not my opinion. So no one I know has ordered it twice. It is very affordable and gives you down home country breakfast. Very good service, you seem to be rushed by some servers and some are very relaxed. But they are busy so hey what can you do. Formerly known as "Marie's Family Restaurant" before it was purchased by Valentin Escobar and renamed "El Ranchito." It was then purchased by Robert Cooper in 2008 and renamed "Marie's Diner." This is a local favorite for casual dining, especially breakfast. Weekends are crowded. My wife and I decided to try their food to see if it was as great as some people claim. We got a Homestyle breakfast, Ribeye and Eggs breakfast, Liver & Onions, Chipped beef with Belgian waffles, a short stack of blueberry pancakes, cranberry juice, and orange juice. All Homestyle breakfasts come with home fries or grits and toast, biscuit, or English muffin. The Homestyle breakfast we chose had 2 eggs with meat. The meat choices were bacon, sausage, scrapple, or corned beef hash. We ordered 2 eggs, home fries, scrapple, and an English muffin. The eggs were over-easy and they were cooked correctly. The home fries had a little salt and pepper added. Everything was cooked well and typical tasting.    The Ribeye and Eggs breakfast had a large 14 oz ribeye steak; 2 eggs; home fries or grits; and toast, biscuit, or an English muffin. We chose home fries and an English muffin. The steak had a strong grilled flavor. It was moist and a little chewy with no seasoning or marinade flavor. The taste and texture were like sirloin steak. It was about 1/2 inch thick. We ordered the eggs scrambled and they were fluffy. That was an unexpected good thing! The home fries were lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. For the price, this was a great bargain!    The Liver & Onions had 2 pieces of liver, 2 sides, salad, and a choice of dinner rolls, biscuits, or cornbread. The side choices were french fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, coleslaw, fried okra, corn fritters, applesauce, potato salad, green beans, broccoli, vegetable of the day, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cinnamon apples, and cornbread stuffing. We got mashed potatoes, cinnamon apples, and cornbread. The liver was a little chewy with a little dryness. It was slightly overcooked. The liver and onion flavors were natural with no noticeable seasoning. The gravy had a mild beef flavor. The mashed potatoes had the taste and texture of boxed instant mashed potatoes. It was too thin. The taste was okay. The cinnamon apples were undercooked and slightly chewy. It was mildly sweet and had only a little cinnamon. The cornbread was crumbly, moist, and slightly sweet. The salad had lettuce, red onions, cherry tomatoes, croutons, and cheese. The dressing choices were ranch, blue cheese, thousand island, french, Caesar, honey mustard, raspberry walnut vinaigrette, or balsamic vinaigrette. We chose the balsamic vinaigrette. Everything was typically okay in this side salad. Overall, this dish provides plenty of middle-of-the-road food for a low price. The variety of side dishes was impressive!    The Chipped beef with Belgian waffle was creamed chipped beef. The first flavor was salted milk followed by a mild beef flavor. It was okay because the beef was tasty, but the cream sauce needed improvement. The waffle was moist, soft inside, lightly crispy outside, and plain tasting. The key to this dish was the cream sauce and it was only edible.    The short stack of 2 blueberry pancakes had a choice of blueberries on top or inside the pancakes. We chose to have them inside. The pancakes were over 8 inches in diameter and an inch thick. They were stretchy and chewy. This is what happens when you overmix your pancake batter and cook it too soon. The activated gluten doesn't have time to relax. The taste was typical, but the texture was bad. The blueberries were fresh, a little tart, and not sweet. This short stack NEEDED syrup to make it edible!! The syrup was moderately sweet with the taste of a generic value brand syrup.    We got 2 glasses of orange juice. It tasted like the gallon-size orange juice at Walmart. It was not too tart, not too sweet, and had no pulp. It was okay.    The cranberry juice was mildly sweet with a light cranberry flavor that was slightly tart which left a dry mouthfeel. I think it was a cranberry drink with some real cranberry juice. The cup size was about 20 oz. It was okay.    The dining room and restrooms were very old and worn down. They were relatively clean. The food prep time was reasonable. 29 minutes after ordering to get the first entree. The service was efficient and professional. This place has diner food that is okay, nothing more and nothing less. It has a high rating for two reasons. Sentimental value for locals because it has been here for a long time. And low prices for a lot of food. So, if you're looking for flavorful food with a well-rounded and well-balanced flavor profile that has depth or uniqueness, then go someplace else. The food here rates at 3 stars. The amount of food for the money added an additional star. It can't be beaten in this time of hyperinflation. read more

Takes both cash and credit card. Tons of free parking. Located off of Crain HWY. I normally don't like diners because I'm not much of a breakfast type of person. However, this place earns my respect. If you come here, expect to line up early or expect to be waiting for at least 1-2hours. They normally have lines out the door at this place. The staff here are very friendly. Our server who asked us to call her "grandma" was extremely nice. .We had a large party and she was very great in making sure our orders were correct, asked for refills and helped answer any of our questions. My recommendation is to try their pancakes (they are HUGE), country fried steak, bacon and any breakfast item! I will definitely make a trip back there again if I'm ever back in town. Finally we did and it's your classic small town diner. My wife got 2 chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and eggs and I got the country fried chicken with mac and cheese and fries. All that for $26. Portions are massive and everything was delicious. We had leftovers for 2 meals after we left. Pancakes were the size of the plate and good enough it didn't need syrup if you wanted.
