I hadn't been to Marigold Cafe for at least 18 months. We had an old paper menu, our fault. Decided to order takeout today, ordered 2 tiki masala flat breads, our old menu said $8.65 . Flatbread was tiki masala, mozzarella, purple onion, cilantro. When I called in order luckily server said would you like chicken ? He said chicken add on, okay that's fine. When we picked up order ( and I understand everything has gone up) Tiki masala flatbread $12, plus $4 for 6/8 pieces of dry chicken, thrown on flatbread with minimal bland tiki masala. What a creative menu! It was hard to decide what to have and everything we ordered was delicious. We'll have to come back so we can try it all! The portions were generous, and we were so happy with our food. We shared an appetizer platter with samosas, fried onion and mozzarella balls, and multiple sauces. YUM! I had cauliflower tacos and my partner had a chicken soup. YUM! They have a comfortable outdoor patio, and the dine-in food was all served on reusable service ware. Don't expect good Indian food! I went here for the concept, but I have to say I was a little disappointed. The Indian flavors were lackluster, I would say it's more of a American food restaurant with an Indian twist rather than any type of fusion. The ingredients felt low quality, thin bread, cheap rice, and just not what I was looking for. HOWEVER if you go in with the attitude that you'll get some solid Mac and cheese and other American/New Mexican staples, you might be very satisfied! I really love this little cafe and its varied menu with a touch of Indian flavors. I almost always get one breakfast taco w/ green chile -- perfect for the light appetite. On a recent visit, my three companions and I enjoyed lunch on the patio. Top ratings from everyone: Marigold Salad, Vegetable Curry Bowl, Gobi Tofu Bowl, and Green Chile Chicken Curry Bowl. I preferred the Vegetable Curry (with coconut milk) more than the Green Chile Chicken Curry (more broth); next time I'll be trying the Chicken Curry Bowl on account of my cravings for coconut milk. One of my friends ordered the chai latte and thought it was too sweet. Marigold Cafe also displays some delicious looking treats in its pastry/dessert case. I give the restaurant 4-stars (vs 5), since I haven't tried many other menu items and today's breakfast taco not quite as fresh & delicious as I've previously had. I can't stop coming here... it's getting almost embarrassing to be recognized! This little East-Indian-meets-New-Mexican restaurant opened a couple months ago and it just keeps getting better. Quality ingredients and excellent, knowledgeable staff. My go-to is the lamb tacos, which I crave because of the incredible flavors - juicy deliciousness!! I try to add something new to try everytime I go, and I haven't been disappointed, yet. The 8am opening for breakfast seemed a little late but a colleague and I decided to have breakfast meeting. It seemed the majority of the staff was arriving just in time to open the doors for us. The chairs were still up, no coffee made and other prep was taking place while we were deciding on our orders. Avocado toast and scrambled eggs sounded good but turned out not to be. Our order took about 25 minutes to make it to the table, the eggs were mostly brown and crumbly from not being stirred on the griddle and the avocado and toast was barely toasted. My comment about overdone eggs was acknowledged with a "Yes, I noticed that" instead of a "Can I have those recooked for you?" All in all very underwhelming and I will never return. I randomly saw this restaurant and decided to try it for lunch yesterday. I was very pleasantly surprised. The burgers here are extremely tasty. They are cooked to order and they have some delicious toppings such as fried green Chile and homemade spicy mayo. Plus, they can do lettuce wraps instead of a bun. Such a great find. I only lowered my rating due to their ambiance and their coffee. It is very bland inside, which is not a horrible thing. It's really preference. Their coffee is very dark and strong. So, if you like that, then this is definitely your place for coffee. If you are like me and like more of a medium roast, this will not do the trick for your taste buds. However, once again, you should definitely go to try one of their custom, delicious burgers. read more

Once you get into the place it is comfortable and inviting with a warm decor. The service was friendly and helpful, the food came quickly and was both interesting and delicious. Staying in the Marriott Courtyard immediately behind this little gem for 5 days and have eaten here every day (1 day twice!). Everything I have tried on the menu has been amazing,, the staff are lovely, the ambiance and decor is just perfect. I had very high hopes going into my first experience at this place based on the amazing looking menu. I ordered the tikka masala bowl with cauliflower rice and garlic naan. The tikka masala tasted more like a thick creamy tomato soup, with very little Indian spice flavor or heat and the cauliflower rice could have also really used more spices. Nice find!! We were staying nearby and happened to see their sign. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio. Marigold toast and eggs for me were quite good. My friend's son opened the Marigold Cafe and I was able to eat there last week. Everything I tried was super yum. We started with the green chile strips, which were perfectly battered and served with a spicy ranch. The only drawback was that I had to share with my lunch companions. The tomato soup, made with coconut milk for just a hint of the exotic was excellent. I also had the chicken tikka flat bread, which was also great. My family and I went here 3 weeks ago for diner. One of the best meals I've had in Albuquerque since I've moved here! It is now our new Friday night dinner spot!
