Not only did Marin do an excellent job with my dress alteration he went far and beyond in customer service as well. I was scheduled to pick up my dress on Saturday morning (the day of my event) and due to some last minute things coming up I was not able to pick up my dress until later in the afternoon. The shop was closed but Marin had his sister come out to open the store and give me my dress! It was amazing and very appreciated! I highly recommend Marin and will be coming back for my other alterations. read more

I know it is cliche to say a review is long overdue, but in this case I can't help but be predictable. I have been bringing my clothes to Diego since 2008. He has altered nearly my entire wardrobe: shirts, jeans, work pants, and suits. Every time I come into his shop he is extremely professional and I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes (but if I had to, I would wait anyway). He then really listens to you about what you want your clothes to look like, and if you have no idea he then gives great advice. He really understands how clothes should fit, and then delivers a product that is exactly to your specifications (and if it's not then he will fix it). Even though I don't live near Santa Monica anymore there is no other tailor that I would trust. As long as I am still in SoCal I will continue to bring my clothes to Diego! read more

I was really impressed with the quality of work done at Marin Tailor Shop. I wanted my suit tailored and it cost $75 total (64 to get the sides taken in, and 11 for a hem). They got it back to me quickly and you could tell they were concerned with how I liked it after. If I need something else tailored, I will definitely be coming back. read more

Love, Love, Love this tailor! I am a very petite woman, and find that I am constantly re-purchasing my clothing, due to alterations and the fact that I am not a size that is "off the rack." I work in Westwood, and live in Woodland Hills, and was looking for an excellent tailor that was not going to gouge me, whose turn around time was quick, and was conveniently located. Guess what? I found him! I came in on a Tuesday, with an intricate garment that needed taking in, and with a quick fitting, Diego told me that I could pick it up on Thursday. I walked out of his shop and looked at my receipt and it said "$10!" I could not believe it, I was thrilled. I picked up my blouse on Thursday, and Diego showed me how he hand sewed it and I was ecstatic. This place was so great. They helped me out last minute with an alteration. I've never had one done before (this was pretty complex I guess, a bridesmaid dress with a side zipper, boning and multiple layers) but they were really nice and helpful. Stopped by today to pick up my pair of selvedge jeans that I needed repaired and hemmed. Why the "repair?" Because I made the foolish mistake of taking these expensive made in the USA selvedge jeans to be hemmed by a tailor that lacked the skill to hem them correctly. The first hem job by a different tailor looked alright when you saw the exterior/outside of the jeans, but if you cuffed and saw the inside of the pants, it was a stitched up mess. In other words, the first tailor did a rather amateur job. So I took these premium jeans to Marin Tailor in hopes of getting them repaired/hemmed properly. Upon walking in the store, you are greeted immediately and warmly. They took my jeans to assess what could be done and quoted me a very reasonable and fair price of $18 for an "original hem." After about 1 week as promised, I went back to pick up my jeans and was blown away by the quality of the hem alteration/repair. SEAMLESS and PERFECT! Marin Tailors are experts at what they do and you can see that they too appreciate fine clothing. Inspect the exterior or interior and you cannot see any evidence of a hem/alteration. This place is great. I've taken all of my clothes there from suits to pea coats to jeans. They always do a clean job and their work lasts (unlike other tailer shops i've been to). Last time I went in to pick up a few pairs of pants and when I was there I showed him a small rip I had on the slacks that I was wearing that day. Without asking and without hesitation he asked me to see the slacks while I was trying the other pairs on and by the time I tried my pants on they fixed my slacks for me! FOR FREE! I like this tailor shop. I came here to get my ten pairs of jeans altered that I've been wearing for a super long time. I always hate taking my things to get altered but this place is quick and easy! When I walked in, a friendly employee greeted me. I tried my things on quickly and told them how short I wanted my pants. I picked my things up a week later. Parking is SUPER easy, there are a ton of empty spots all around because it's sort of in a random side street location. Prices are great. Recommended. read more

i love coming here. diego really knows how to take care of his customers. and if diego is busy, alex does a good job, too. i will give my input, and diego will give me advice and suggestions, in case it might end up looking too short, or too baggy. even if i don't visit the shop in over a year or so, diego always remembers my face. that's great customer service. i have taken pants/jeans to get hemmed. my new suit was just shortened, hemmed, and slimmed down. i've even taken some pairs of old pants, and diego has turned them into shorts...so i can breathe a new life into something i used to love. i always tell my friends to go check diego out...and i tell them to pay attention to the yelp reviews. there is a reason why diego and his shop has a PERFECT reating, even after hundreds of reviews. prices are very fair...except that the workmanship is perfect! no shortcuts, or cheap/quick fixes done here. there is parking on the street, at meters. or you can park in the neigborhood on the streets, for FREE for 1 hour, M-F, up until 7 pm. open on saturdays and sundays is a huge plus! read more

It is always tricky to find a great tailor who you can trust to do a fantastic job on your alterations, plus with such a fast turnaround. But this place does both! Not sure if the guy that is always at the front desk is the owner, but whomever he is, he is awesome! He's super friendly, and always greets you with a smile. Plus, I once left my expensive sunglasses on the sofa and figured I had lost them somewhere, but he held on to them for me and gave them to me when I picked up my tailored item, it was such a great surprise! I had a tux tailored with Diego. He is a friendly guy. The tux already fit pretty well so just needed pants hemmed and very minor areas taken in elsewhere on jacket and pants. The result was good but very, very pricey - $155. I also didn't like when I tried on the tailored tux, Diego did not stand with me up there next to me to make sure everything worked. I have been going to this shop for over a year now. Diego Marin, owner, has been reliable and knowledgeable. He is my go-to guy for alterations as well as general clothing advice - a true tailor. I have found him to be generous in spirit and acutely aware of what is generally considered good taste (down to fractions of an inch) in regards to a myriad of aspects concerning attire. His measurements have proven completely agreeable time and time again. It seems he is always on site and available. His Saturdays are busy so I tend to catch him on weekdays. Love this shop! I usually don't write Yelp reviews but after discovering this nearby tailor online and receiving phenomenal service, I definitely wanted to share about my experience. I had a pair of pants that was very design-specific and wasn't sure if it would be able to be tailored without messing up the design but Marin Tailor did a great job! It was a little pricier for the job but I was so excited when I picked it up that I wore it out the door to my dinner that evening because it fit so perfectly. Alex and Diego are great as well. im more than impressed with the service and quality of work that this shop offers. first, the service is awesome. Diego is his name (i assume from the other reviews), and he is friendly and responsive and helpful. he explained to me the options available based on the way my jeans were designed before i checked them in. he also was super cool when i forgot my wallet and he let me pay later. im still waiting for the invoice to arrive, but will obviously pay the bill. i think that the only small issue i had was that the shop doesn't call by default when the work is finished, but they do give you an estimated day for the work to be complete. i just stopped by after my estimated pickup date and it was done and ready. i'm sure if you ask for a phone call, they will give you a phone call. I didn't ask when I dropped off my jeans. the tailoring work they do is excellent. very good work. my jeans look like they were never altered and they were hemmed and tapered the way that i expected them to be. im very happy. the hem was $10 per pair and the taper was $15 per pair. will come back here if I haven't learned how to hem pants by then! read more

Got some jeans hemmed (shortened length): $10 each Brought my business pants that were oversized and had them made skinny: $35 Came in around noon on a Friday night, I didn't have to wait. To get all 5 pairs of pants done too about 15-20 minutes depending on how fast you change. Overall one of the best experiences I have had in any business. I am definitely bringing everything I need tailored here. The price was very very reasonable and Diego was great and really fun to work with. Really kind on the phone and in person LOOOL. Parking: parking meters throughout the place. No issues with parking at the time I went. Bathroom: if you really have to go, they have a pretty neat bathroom in store. When will it get done? For my pants, they ask for a week. But if you need it earlier you could let them know. read more

I came here to get a bespoke suit altered (ironic isn't it?) in early July of 2016. The tailors who made my suit in Hong Kong were a bit too conservative in their cuts and the suit was a bit too boxy and loose for my fashionable tastes. Since I did not have the funds to travel back and forth to Hong Kong to get alterations, I came to Marin Tailors due to all the rave reviews here on Yelp. Marin did not disappoint and I got the suit back to me in exactly the way I wanted it: slim and sleek. I was so satisfied with the job that I came back with another suit in mid July and once again they did a fantastic job. I don't believe Marin Tailor is the cheapest place to go for alterations but they certainly aren't the most expensive and they do a great job so I'll definitely be coming back again and again since I know what to expect from them. Excellent work. Last year I needed sleeves adjusted on numerous sport coats. I literally brought a couple of jackets in every week for a month.
