Came here on a busy Thursday lunch hour to re-visit LBX and the Hangar (with some Boeing friends) since the last time I visited more than a year ago at a YEE! Definitely great to be back! Finding parking near the Hangar was fairly easy; there are lots of spaces around, near both the commercial and industrial buildings. Even on a weekend, finding a space was a breeze, although you might have to walk up to 10 mins to reach the Hangar and the rest of LBX. After a couple of laps, I decided to try Marinate Korean BBQ as I missed this spot during the Passport Party in 2018! The limited-time Bulgogi burrito instantly caught my eye and I finalized my decision immediately. The flavors worked very well together and the presentation was fabulous! My wife and I really liked our korean bowls. This place is kind of like a poke bar where your start with a base (mine was spicy korean pork and rice) and then you pick a variety of toppings. I was trying to stay with some korean flavors, so I got kimchi, pickled radishes, and ssamjang sauce and then some edamame, corn, and cucumbers for texture. My bowl came out really good. Reading the previous reviews, people were complaining about the lack of flavor. I really think you have to choose wisely. The spicy pork is already a tasty base. If you get the chicken or salmon, try getting one of the spicier sauces. Definitely get the kimchi and pickled radish too. The other vegetables are pretty plain (cooked brocoli, squash, cucumber, etc.). Oh, and korean food always goes well with a beer, so get a beer down the hall. It's about $12 for a bowl, but it's big enough for two meals for me. I got halfway through, and thought I could power through and stuff myself, but then ended up eating just a little bit more. Delicious! The bulgogi here is delicious! * FOOD * I ordered a bowl and had a salad mix with bulgogi and a fried egg on top. The set up when ordering is similar to Chipotle in that you're guiding the server and telling them what to put in your bowl. The ingredients I selected tasted fresh and the bulgogi was perfectly cooked. Honestly, there's not much to say b/c you have some control over what you'll eat since you can see the ingredients and choose your items. This spot is great when you want a mix of something healthy yet fulfilling. They also have a number of sauces that you can choose from and I really liked that. * LOCATION * This spot is a part of a larger food court called the Hangar. If you haven't been, the Hangar is one part of what's called the Long Beach Exchange... a tight knit plaza with shops and gyms and restaurants and grocery stores in addition to the Hangar. Parking in front of or around the Hangar can get tight but there's plenty of parking in the general vicinity. There's lots of seating in and around the Hangar if you wanna stay and enjoy your food. I visited this place on my lunch break and absolutely loved it. I got the bulgogi bowl with white rice, lettuce, kimchi, radish, and yuponzu + ssamjang. Every bite was delicious and the food was finished really fast. I was in and out within 5 minutes. Awesome place! read more

Food: The food was good, but I definitely feel like if you do have a bigger appetite it can get fairly pricey. For me it was the perfect amount, I even had leftovers. It was flavorful and the bulgogi was cooked well. It's not something I would have all the time just because it is overpriced for what it is but once in a while when I don't feel like cooking, this satisfies that korean food craving. Service: It was kinda shitty...the guys all working looked like they hated being there, understandly so because who likes working but the customer service or the lack of was almost comically bad I can't even be mad. The food here is definitely delicious but over priced!!! The limited edition bulgogi burrito is a must try if you decided to dine here, it is prefix already so you can't really chooses what type of stuff you want in it, but if you do want a bulgogi bowl you are able to put whatever toppings you want in the bowl. The bulgogi is definitely better than the ones at a Korean bbq, but the flour that it is wrap on to isn't that well it tastes like the ones you buy off the store. Maybe they can cook/heat it better. This place is located inside the hanger so it quite lively inside and lots of seats to sit, if this is way over your budget go next door and you can get a burrito exactly the same price as this 9.92 but much bigger and yes the burrito next door is AMAZING!!!! read more

If you're a fan of Korean BBQ, this is the perfect meal for when you want bulgogi but don't want to get AYCE. Typically places that serve single serving kbbq tend to have low quality meat. That is not the case at Marinate. Their bulgogi is great and so yummy. You have the option to add on things such as jalapeños, mushrooms, kimchi, rice, and spring mix. It's basically the kbbq version of a poke bowl. I recommend getting a fried egg on top! It's a game changer. They have large servings so I usually eat half of my bowl and then save the rest for later. It's located inside of the LBX Hangar so expect to have a hard time finding parking. But once you're done eating you can walk around and check out dessert places as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Korean barbecue! read more

First time visiting this eatery complex at the Long Beach Exchange. Many choices but I chose this eatery, since you build your own bowl. The selection is large and everything looked fresh during the dinner hour during the week. I wanted to try the salmon - but they ran out, so selected the Bulgogi bowl. I loaded up with veggies and brown rice for my grain. Flavor was solid and the portion was huge. Like many, I was drawn by the big sign that said "Bulgolgi Burrito for a limited time!" I tried to resist it but that damn marketing line worked on me, so I got the burrito. Initially I was afraid of it being on the sweet side, and it is for me, but that hot sauce they provided is what makes the whole thing good. It is spicy as hell but in a tasty way. All the ingredients inside worked great with one another. Wish it as a bit bigger though! Also got the popcorn chicken to share. Again, on the sweet side, but chicken is juicy and crispy. It's easy to overlook this spot in the busyness of The Hangar, but if you're a fan of Korean food, big portions, and the ability to customize your dish Chipotle-style, then I'd recommend stopping by here if you're at LBX and aren't sure which restaurant to eat at! It's fairly simple: you walk up and can either build your own bowl (base, veggies, protein, and sauces), or you can choose from some of the preset bowls and build from there. I opted for the Spicy Pork Belly Bowl and kept it as is, adding other vegetables and sauces to it. The person who was building my bowl was really patient and guided me through the process, and he offered his own favorite recommendations when I couldn't decide on the sauces. There's a bit of a wait between building your bowl and having it finished because they grill the meats as they're ordered, which I didn't mind since I liked that the pork belly was warm and soft. It got a little hectic at the end for the cashier, though, because there were about six bowls waiting to be completed, and she struggled to figure out which bowl was whose. I think she handled it well - major props to her - but I think that part of the process could be more efficient. Overall, I was happy with the service and food. It's a fairly quick process (again, very similar to Chipotle except your protein order is grilled on the spot), and the portions are huge.
