First time visiting this eatery complex at the Long Beach Exchange. Many choices but I chose this eatery, since you build your own bowl. The selection is large and everything looked fresh during the dinner hour during the week. I wanted to try the salmon - but they ran out, so selected the Bulgogi bowl. I loaded up with veggies and brown rice for my grain. Flavor was solid and the portion was huge. Like many, I was drawn by the big sign that said "Bulgolgi Burrito for a limited time!" I tried to resist it but that damn marketing line worked on me, so I got the burrito. Initially I was afraid of it being on the sweet side, and it is for me, but that hot sauce they provided is what makes the whole thing good. It is spicy as hell but in a tasty way. All the ingredients inside worked great with one another. Wish it as a bit bigger though! Also got the popcorn chicken to share. Again, on the sweet side, but chicken is juicy and crispy. It's easy to overlook this spot in the busyness of The Hangar, but if you're a fan of Korean food, big portions, and the ability to customize your dish Chipotle-style, then I'd recommend stopping by here if you're at LBX and aren't sure which restaurant to eat at! It's fairly simple: you walk up and can either build your own bowl (base, veggies, protein, and sauces), or you can choose from some of the preset bowls and build from there. I opted for the Spicy Pork Belly Bowl and kept it as is, adding other vegetables and sauces to it. The person who was building my bowl was really patient and guided me through the process, and he offered his own favorite recommendations when I couldn't decide on the sauces. There's a bit of a wait between building your bowl and having it finished because they grill the meats as they're ordered, which I didn't mind since I liked that the pork belly was warm and soft. It got a little hectic at the end for the cashier, though, because there were about six bowls waiting to be completed, and she struggled to figure out which bowl was whose. I think she handled it well - major props to her - but I think that part of the process could be more efficient. Overall, I was happy with the service and food. It's a fairly quick process (again, very similar to Chipotle except your protein order is grilled on the spot), and the portions are huge. Came here last night with my husband and a friend for dinner around 630/45pm-ish. The gentleman who first took our order us was great, food was out quick, but when I came back to ask for utensils, I was met with a rude eye roll and scoff. The most annoying thing in the world is to politely ask for help and be met with hostility. I don't understand your problem, I asked you kindly to do your job? I greeted you with a smile, and you didn't say one word to me. It's the guy who looks like a little boy. You don't have any right to be rude because you feel like it, kid. It's a bummer because the food here was awesome, it's hard to find a decent fusion spot that's reasonably priced and wait time. You get to add your own toppings and sauce. I believe it was an unlimited amount. I took him home to try and the flavor was really delicious. Went to The Hangar for 1st time excited to try this place but was disappointed. We ordered the bulgogi, pork belly, and the popcorn chicken. 1st complaint is the food ratio! 90% rice & veggies, 10%meat. It was especially disappointing for the pork belly because they charge an extra $4 for it but the amount of mushrooms I had was more that the amount of pork belly in my bowl! Which brings me to the 2nd complaint, the price is not worth it considering I mostly had veggies and rice. 3rd is the popcorn chicken was not thoroughly cooked, the chicken was pink. The flavor was good though if only it was cooked right. Bulgogi was OK, nothing unique. Other places like Wagyu grill taste better and they give way more meat. On the positive side, i love the sauces... I tried both the Yuponzu and the ssamjang. ... Sadly, I don't think I will buy here again. read more
