Best bolgogi burrito we come here every week my wife gets the bowl here and she loves it

I'm a man who enjoys a good Korean Barbeque. Bulgogi has my heart and I love kimchi so much that I may name my first daughter after it. The only problem is that I've yet to encounter a KBBQ spot that will let me dine in by myself. I'm a lone wolf sometimes... Queue Marinate Korean BBQ. It's located inside the Hangar at the Long Beach Exchange. It serves Korean BBQ bowls. Think Chipotle but with Korean veggies and proteins. Finally. A place where I can get my bulgogi fill in the middle of the workday. I no longer have wait to make plans for the weekend with my friends. I'll just come here on my lunch break when the urge is too strong. I won't have to worry about the dreaded KBBQ food coma either. These are bowls so overeating won't be an issue. I get there and I notice that their bowls are $9. That doesn't seem too bad until you realize the bowl is just rice, veggies and the sauce. The protein is not included in the price of the bowl. If you want bulgogi that'll be an extra $3. That seems counterproductive. So $12 for a bulgogi bowl. That seems steep but I noticed there's a board with popular combinations. The number 1 is Bulgogi, white rice and two of their sauces which I don't remember the names of. I'll take that one. That's exactly what I wanted and I figured most places have "combos" at a slightly cheaper price than the custom bowls, well Marinate isn't like most places. I go up to pay. I ask for a lemonade as well and that brought my total to $17.36. Think about the last time you went out for proper KBBQ. Think about how much you paid per person. Now look back at what I paid. For that much I could have gone to an all-you-can eat spot. Incase you're wondering, the food tasted okay. Just okay. Not good, not great, just... Okay. For $17.36, "just okay" doesn't cut it. read more

Came here today and I was very excited to try this place out, especially that Bulgogi burrito. Immediately before I started my order you can tell that customer service isn't a priority here. I came for the salmon bowl (light on the pesto) and was NOT disappointed. Flavorful and mild- I got the kimchi on the side. It was amazing, but spicy. So beware. The salmon was flavorful and all the sides were a compliment to the bowl. Again, simple flavors but very good. Not greasy or over the top. Great customer service too. I have been here twice. Both times on a Sunday afternoon. Each time the wait was over 15 minutes to get our bowls made. I had the rice and chicken one time and salmon the other. I added kale, Asparagus, mushrooms, corn, Edamame and spicy house cream (not sure what the name was of the sauce?). Each time the food was bland and flavorless. It's totally not worth your time. But the cherry on top was they were playing the "F*#% Donald Trump" song blaring over the speakers in the shop. I had kids with me, so I sent them back to their seats. The song was really loud and loaded with cuss words directed at Trump. Got the last of the bulgogi meat for the day with all the veggies no fruits and habanero sauce. The bulgogi was really good but a little sweet the habanero sauce and veggies balanced it out though. The meat was tender the veggies was fresh including the leafy greens. I would come back and for the same thing. read more

No, no and no! I'm sorry but I didn't like anything about my bowl. I ordered the white rice , with tofu as the protein and the yuponzu sauce as the base. I didn't like the sauce at all. It gave the whole bowl a bitter citrusy taste. All of the toppings are cold and tasteless and add nothing to the bowl. I expected the tofu to be diced and warmed and seasoned but instead it was cut in strips and fried. I'm not sure it was seasoned at all. There are other protein options, salmon, beef bulgogi, and lemon chicken that looked pretty good . Maybe I just chose the wrong one. I don't know but I'll probably never come back to find out . read more

I don't understand why this place has a low rating?? But it happens on Yelp and 3.5 stars should be a 4-5 stars sometimes. This place is fantastic. They know what they're doing in the kitchen. The bowls are large serving size and I got a little overwhelmed when I saw them. I'm able to eat some of it right away and save the rest for later and the leftovers heat very well in the microwave. We got a bulgogi bowl and a lemon chicken bowl. Everything you want to add to the bowl looks and tastes fresh. Everything tasted incredible. We will get extra kimchi next time! We got all of the sauces to try on the side. The pesto was the best out of all of them. It paired excellent with both bowls. Bottom line: Sit down restaurant quality. We were SUPER impressed. We're happy it's so close to the house. We will be regulars. read more

Got a pork belly bowl with all the veggies and it was so delicious. I love eatery where I can choose what I like and what I don't. The portion was huge that I can have dinner for tonight. Paid $12 for hair in my food... didn't even bother telling the workers because I honestly do not think they could've served me anything better and with more flavor. Yes, the chicken was moist but lacked in flavor. I added Brussels sprouts to my bowl and it wasn't cooked all the way. Also, the worker continued to talk to another worker while I was waiting for my chicken to be cut. I am sure your conversation is much better than cutting the chicken right in front of you. Thank you for inconveniencing the customer first. TLDR: Poor customer service, lacking in flavor, and too much money spent on food that has hair in it. read more
