We had a handyman out to change some light fixtures. When he got to the kitchen fixture, he said he wouldn't touch it because "it wasn't to code". And worse than not changing out the fixture, he disabled it, and we had NO lighting in our kitchen. All of a sudden, a quick fix, turned into darkness. We called Marine Services late on Wednesday afternoon, and he said that he could come by Friday afternoon. Well, his first appointment didn't show up, so he called and asked to arrive that morning, which was great for me! He worked neatly and efficiently, and told us that it WAS to code, and he put everything back together and installed our fixture. At one point, the fixture was missing a piece that he didn't happen to have on the truck, and he ran to the store to get it to make sure that our job was completely done. We always appreciate when a job is done well and neatly! I hope we don't have any more electrical issues, but if we do, he is top of our list to call. read more

The day before the walkthrough by the buyer of my townhouse, I discovered water on the floor of the kitchen cabinet. It wasn't a lot, but any water leak is bad. I ran both hot and cold water, the garbage disposal, and the dishwasher. No leaking. I called Marines Service Co (recommended by my heat/A-C company). They scheduled me for the next day. Alejandro Solano and his assistant discovered the issue in less than 15 minutes. After checking a few things, they inserted the drain stopper and filled the sink partway. Then they pulled out the drain stopper, and we watched the water not just dribble, but stream down the side of the garbage disposal. It leaked only if you used the sink drain stopper, which I rarely did, but happened to do so the day before I discovered the leak. Turns out that the company that installed my new sink four months prior, along with a new garbage disposal, didn't install the garbage disposal properly. Alejandro quickly installed it correctly. Had a visit from Trevor of Marines Plumbing yesterday. Have what's probably a 20 yr old Toilet on a first floor "Powder Room" which my wife contacted the Owner about to have it looked at. Bottom line from Trevor was to Fix it would've cost approximately $300 so it made sense to replace it with a new, more efficient and better looking one. What I liked best was that he showed me several options on the iPad he uses to make all notes and proposals on. They definitely use high quality gear from Fergusons over stuff from any "Big Box Stores" whicj Trevor showed true professionalism by not slamming them. He also pointed something out which I didn't even think of - to go with a Round Type Bowl instead of the Oval one due to the small size of this downstairs powder room. Trevor is also a sportscar lover and engaged in some great conversation while looking mine over! Big plus! However, I just couldn't get over the fact of spending $800+ to replace a toilet that's only warranted for 2 Years with them. Yes I realize it may be better quality and be installed by a trained professional with an option to add their "Enlisted Package" for an additional $150 that discounts both Parts and Labor by 15%. Both Lowes and Home Depot offer 10% discounts when Marine Plumbing only offers a 5% one - unless you drop the extra $150. For a Former Marine Corps 1stSgt I actually thought I'd make out a little better, which is the only reason I couldnt give 5 Stars. Semper Fi Marines Plumbing! read more

I used this company for a well problem in April 2023. They moved my holding tank in the well and provided a new larger holding tank to another location ($5000). In the process, the broke the concrete cap to the well. I kept hearing excuses and don't feel like chasing them any longer. That's why I'm here. Have relatives who were marines and want to graduation in CA. Took a few hours to fix and had to get part and redo pipe connection b/c leak. I recently had Marines Plumbing (MP) to come to our home to unstop a bath tub drain The tech came out without any shoe covering. He checked out the tub and ran some water and gave me what I thought was an estimate but in fact is was a contract ... .for almost $300. I did sign the agreement with out carefully reading it ( my big mistake) The tech did snake the sing and quickly looked at bathroom faucet and was done in less than 30+ minutes As I was frustrated with the expense I called MP and after four times leaving messages with their staff to speak with the Manager. After being told that my earlier messages " must have fallen thru the cracks" I got a call from CJ who needs some training in customer service and when I asked if he was going to make any adjustments which he said no, I informed him that I was going to write my opinion and he then accused me of blackmailing him How is that for customer service accusing a customer of expressing an opinion as blackmail.......he must have had a bad day or this is not the first time he was challenged on their high pricing So the lesson is apparently their practice is one must negotiate on pricing and not based on the level and scope of the job. The process of scheduling and interacting with admin staff was perfect. I had asked for a water-activated backup sump pump. The tech was efficient, polite, all business. He had to search for the model I liked, went right out & purchased it, installed it in a matter of hours, cleaned up afterward, & reviewed maintenance. I'm so pleased & relieved to have a backup to the sump pump. Having experienced a pump outage (in a different home) during a hurricane & having dealt with 6" water in my basement, ruined carpet, mold, delay in getting help--everyone else had the same problem!--I'm a bit paranoid about ever having to deal with a similar issue. I know the cost was competitive; I'll be calling Marine Plumbers again to replace an aging water heater. read more

It was easy to schedule an appointment and they came on time. But the pricing was very heavy and the technician's goal seemed to be to up sell with even more expenses. I had a leaking toilet in a rental unit which needed a new flapper. They provided one quote to change all the internal parts for over $300 and their other proposal was to replace the toilet! We eventually settled on just changing the flapper - a $12 part that they charged $150 to install For this I do get a two year warranty. However, it left a bad taste that they were up selling with suggestions I replace the toilet and massively over charging for a simple job. I will not use them again. read more

After a glitch when noone was able to come on the day originally scheduled we rescheduled for the following afternoon. Jason called before he arrived, and then arrived promptly with mask and shoe covers. He identified the problem causing the leak and prepared an estimate for fixing it. After several minutes he revised his assessment and recommended replacement rather than repair. Again he prepared us for the change in cost, we agreed and he promptly went back to work to fix the problem. He cleaned up nicely after the job was done. Everything was done promptly and efficiently. He also looked at a modification we are considering and gave his opinion on its viability. Cost was more than we anticipated but we are new to area so it well may have been competitive. read more

My kitchen sink backed up I scheduled an appt online chose Fri morning they scheduled me for the hours of 8-12...Jermaine arrived about 830 figured out the problem right away...went to get the supplies and started the repair. Total NIGHTMARE customer service...We had one of kitchen sinks clogged, so we have had one of the technicians come out to unclog/snake. We do not recall his name, but he was professional and transparent. He told us that he did unclog to the main pipe, but he saw some sludges. So he recommended hydro-jetting (some sort of high pressure water cleaning) in the future, and we received price estimates of camera + hydro-jetting services per stack upon our request. We even heard that these prices would be honored for 6 months. Within two days, we found out that it got clogged again, and we followed up with their customer service line to request the hydro-jetting services in the stack where the clogged unit belongs. They set up a time to come out on the next day we called, and then they canceled it just 3 hours before their appointment timeline (duh - they gave us a 9 hour time window - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ) was to expire. They informed us that the price quote was wrong without any apology, and they need to send out an estimator to give a new or correct price quote in 3 days before they can send out a technician. Obviously, we cannot have our tenant wait that long, and throughout the process, they had not apologized once. When I even requested to talk to a manager, they said that they can handle it. I get mixed messages of how they wold handle the issues. Of course, we now have to look for other plumbers. NOT PRFESSIONAL!!! read more

A great company! We had several issues that we wanted to have fixed - our outside hoses, a shower, a toilet pipe, and our outside shut off valves. When I called, I didn't know it was after hours and got the answering service. They were very helpful and I received a phone call a few hours later from the company. We scheduled for the following Monday. The two plumbers that came - CJ and Daniel - were polite and courteous when I showed them the various projects. They instantly identified the issues but said they needed a few parts. Before they left, the parts were ordered and we had scheduled a follow-up visit today for all the work to happen. Although we had a 12-4pm window, Daniel showed up early and was done early. After each job, he let us know it was finished and showed us his work. Friendly and knowledgeable, working with Daniel was a pleasure. Side note: Our total price was a bit high - and higher than I wanted to spend, but everything was done quickly and professionally. Our kitchen sink was clogged and after a few quick swivels of a wooden spoon and my husband pretend plumbing (getting water everywhere); we decided it was time to call the professionals. This was my first time calling Marines Plumbing and the dispatcher was super friendly and kind; they were able to have Dan come out on the same day. Dan was very personable, friendly, "good people," and I could tell he takes pride in what he does. Our clogged sink gave him a bit of a challenge but he was able to resolve the issue. He also gave me knowledge on the type of disposal we have and advice on what not to use the disposal for. He also gave us suggestions/pricing on upgrading our disposal but there was no pressure in making the decision. Nightmare!!!! On 7/29/23 we had a sewage backup and called Homeserve. Because of the backup we could not flush the toilet, shower, use washing machine, dishwasher, etc. The following Monday 7/31 Long's Plumbing evaluated and said we had a back up or a break of our sewage line located behind the mailbox. They're 1st recommendation was water jetting to clear the line, a service their company did not provide. On Weds. 8/2 Marines Services came out and said we shouldn't water jet, but that the pipe needed to be dug out and replaced. They said the break was not at the mailbox, but 6 feet in front of it into the street, and because it was in the street we would need to not only get Homeserve's approval but also VDOT's. Marine's Services sent us an estimate of around $3700. By Friday 8/4 Homeserve had approved the work. We called Marine's to make an appointment (they knew this call was coming and by now we hadn't been able to use plumbing for about a week. All our kids were home for the summer and my husband and I both work from home). Super difficult situation. They said the earliest they could schedule us in was 11 days later on 8/15. 8/15 came, we've now been without plumbing for 18 days) and Marine's said they hadn't received VDOT permission so they couldn't do the work. They had also inexplicably upped their estimate to around $6000. They said they'd come on 8/16, that VDOT must be behind. On 8/16 Marines informed us that they still didn't have VDOT's permission and wouldn't do the work without it. My husband decided to investigate. He learned from VDOT that they had approved the work very early on 8/15, so Marine's had had permission, they just didn't see the email????????????????????????????????? Ugh! We called them to schedule again since all permissions were granted. They said they'd had to increase the estimate to between $15,000 and $16,000. WHAT? And that we'd have to get permission from Homeserve again before they could do the work. By now we've been 3 WEEKS WITHOUT PLUMBING. My husband called Marine's indicating that he was dissatisfied with them continuing to increase the estimate and with completely missing the email from VDOT that the work had been approved. My husband was calm and factual. The manager CJ blamed Homeserve and VDOT for the delays and started screaming and rudely hung up on my husband. We're now going on FOUR WEEKS of no plumbing. Finally we got smart and decided to call Long's again who had originally looked at the problem and said the break was at the mailbox. Marines insisted in was in the street and that was why it was such an expensive repair. We hired Long's to do the repair and the break was at the mailbox and cost about $6000 to fix -- not the nearly $16,000 which was Marine's final estimate. We don't know if Marine's made an honest mistake about the location of the break or if they purposely lied in order to price gauge us and Homeserve. Either way we will never do business with them again. read more
