Marisco's Altamar is a very good Mexican seafood place with a really awesome happy hour. This was the first place I visited on my New Mexican vacation, and we happened to enter during happy hour. There are numerous food and drink specials, and I particularly enjoyed the very generous discount on oysters. I could totally see myself coming here and downing a dozen oysters several times a month. They also have flamed oysters in red sauce with cheese, which was quite good but not part of the happy hour. One touch I particularly like is the providing of a frosted, salt rimmed glass with the beers. Nothing beats a cold mexican beer with a lime and some salt on a hot day. Very authentic and very much appreciated. The service here overall is top notch... our waitress was extremely friendly. Aside from the oysters, I also had the chile rellenos, which was ok but pretty average. I think I'd stick with seafood if I were to ever return to Albuquerque. The food is also a tad bit on the greasy side as well, though not too horribly so. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. read more

Very nice! We stopped in here after the little ones swim lessons at the aquatic center down the street. Service was excellent and the menu is extensive with something for everyone. Kiddos were happy with shrimp and tacos and LOVED the mariachi group. The jalapeño cucumber margarita was light and refreshing. Daughter raved about the sea bass. Mariscos Altamar is the best place to enjoy authentic Mexican food. They have a full bar with tasty drinks and the BEST Micheladas. The chips and salsa are addicting and the ceviche is to die for. The tacos carne asada are my favorite but I usually get a combo because they're chicken enchiladas red are also amazing. The staff are always nice and provide prompt service. My parents put me in charge of finding places to eat dinner while visiting Albuquerque. I found this little Gem right here in Yelp. The food was excellent; the shrimp and octopus ceviche platter was phenomenal. I also tasted the Mojarra my mum order and was delicious also. Seafood is tricky and it seems it is always hit or miss. this place was definitely a hit. The staff was very attentive also. The only caveat for those that are used to eating cocktails Acapulco style (Ketchup, lime, cilantro, serrano chiles and dash of Maggi or Worcestershire) this is a bit different but good also. read more

First time in there and I have to say, never have I ever, had better service in Albuquerque. The waiter was quick and attentive without being annoying, and as polite as anyone could possibly expect. The shrimp octopus and fish were fresh, well prepared and very well priced. The margaritas were cheap and some of the best in Albuquerque. Will definitely be back. read more

Visiting for the first time; not impressed. Not sure if there was a Host or not, but I walked in and wasn't sat or greeted. I stood there for about ten minutes until a waiter walked by and asked if I was taken care of. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food with Mexican flavor, I suggest you seek elsewhere. The rice was incredibly bland, as was the rest of my dish. It is obvious no salt was included in the process of crafting the meal. Both sauces (that come with the chips when you first come into the restaurant), were tasteless. I couldn't tell of I had dipped the tortilla chip in water or the 'salsa'. There was a stinky and dirty carpet where we were sat, and it was filled with crumbs and black from the grime. The colorful designs under it hardly visible. The food is BLAND beyond imagination, and mostly cold by the time it arrives. The waiter was very sweet and pleasant, and constantly checked up on us, but the new bar tender was another story. As soon as I walked into the bar I sensed she was in a bitchy ass mood. I don't remember her name but she was an older woman (late thirties) with black hair and dark eyes. You could tell she was experienced with making drinks, but obviously not with proper manners. I ordered my alcoholic beverage and she prepared it after not once asking for an ID, or speaking to me at all. I guess this bar is nice for when you and some younger friends to hang out if you're not looking to get asked for an ID. I finished my beverage and left as soon as I could. I rate this restaurant, or better yet, this large food truck, a solid one star. Maybe a 1.2 on a good day. Never going back, and I will make sure to let my friends know not go to go either . read more

I ate the same carbon tacos for over a year until one of the owners asked why I never got anything else. I explained I was skeptical about sea food in general and didn't want something I wasn't gonna like.. When I returned the next visit the same owner said "I'm gonna bring you out something" I was brought a ceviche tostada and crab enchiladas.. Needless to say it was excellent and since then it has become my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque! Since stepping out of my comfort zone I've tried the shrimp fajitas, shrimp cocktails, mojarra fria and the best micheladas (spicy tomato beers) in town! Don't forget to stop in the bar and have a jalapeno cucumber margarita served up by some of the nicest prettiest bartenders in town! read more

This is an authentic mexican seafood restaurant. Start your meal off sharing the large shrimp ceviche. My favorite meal is the shrimp wrapped in bacon with a piece of jalapeno in the middle. This little bundle is then placed in the deep fryer and cooked to crispy perfection. I have seen the owners of another authentic mexican restaurant throw a party here so you know it has to be good. It can get very busy in there so be prepared to wait. read more

We came here with a party of 35. They easily accommodated us. The service was phenomenal. We had a young gentleman waiter, (wish i remembered his name) he was so attentive. The food was great. When family comes into town, it's not even a thought we all just meet here. Hands down the best ceviche. The customer service is superior, and a huge bonus is majority of the staff is bilingual, which makes me feel better when ordering in English, while my mother-in-law orders in Spanish. I got the Garlic Shrimp with rice and beans. The Shrimp was ok , the rice had no flavor at all and the beans were good. Not sure if we'll be back again, maybe try something different.My wife said the Mojarra is really good and that she would come back and try the Shrimp cocktail. read more

Clean and friendly and near hotels. My husband's food was above average; mine was undercooked shrimp but they made good on it; varied menu; kind of interesting decor as in the blown lights and the plaster wall.
