Husband wanted good Mariscos on a Monday evening. We were coming from Ontario but I wanted something on way home. Looked up mariscos in Corona area and this caught my eye. I can see why this has outstanding reviews. We arrive and the food service could not have been any better. Fresh seafood. So unique and so flavorful. We have taken vacations in so many deep parts of Mexico. I can compare this seafood to those places!!! Maybe even better than most. The tortilla chips are super fresh. We started with the ceviche divorciado w/ beer. The fish and shrimp was so tasty! Not too tangy at all! One of the best ceviches I have ever had. My husband ordered tacos gobernador (3) fish, octopus, shrimp. All tacos did not disappoint. I had the green chile chicken enchiladas w/ salad, beans, rice. I am not a beans person but these beans (I think they had chorizo in them). They were just so good. The sauce and chicken were perfect. Genuine flavors and very authentic! We loved everything! The food here is amazing at great prices! Maricela was our server and super sweet. She made sure we had a great experience. She checked on us constantly. Very accommodating. Be very careful coming here! Came for a job interview and on the phone dude was already asking me my age and if I was pretty. I had a gut feeling this interview was going downhill and guy was a creep. When I showed up his first reaction was "I told you 8pm" (it was 745) then changed everything up to where I had to have experience and have to be available in the morning ...etc excuses. Not paying attention to my experience nor how I am bettering myself or even acknowledging i was early and punctual like it job posting stated. Sorry guy Im not young enough or pretty enough. I stumbled across this spot by accident and I was ready to eat as I love me some mariscos! I arrived around 7 pm on a Monday and the restaurant was nearly empty with one other table. I expected no different being a Monday. Two different salsas are served immediately. The avocado salsa was delicious, the traditional one was decent but it was lukewarm. I ordered shrimp ceviche but was given a shrimp cocktail, no biggie is was pretty good. Lots of flavor and didn't require any doctoring at the table. My friend ordered the steak tacos which were huge! I tried a bite and the meat was tasty and they were dressed with a spicy salsa. They had tons of menu options that looked good. The restaurant has a full bar with lots of drink options. It was a bit dark inside which I don't love, but not a deal breaker. The server was very sweet and attentive. My review is based of the breakfast food i didn't try their seafood so please take that in mind reading this. I have yet to find the spot that has the best chilaquiles. They all suck and i really had high hopes for this place but it all fell flat the moment they brought out the Aqua Fresca and it was not it. The horchata tasted super milky and i asked for a Jamaica but got an aqua de pepino con limón. Which is okay, i didn't bother asking for a new one since it was just one waitress and their were people there. Just left it at is. But both of the drinks super sweet but the pepino con limón was horribly sweet. I couldn't drink either of them and neither could my husband. Just got a water in the end. I will say their tortillas are handmade because they brought some out with my hubbies food and they were great. The huevos con nopal was okay, not amazing but it was decent so we're the chilaquiles. Food was mediocre at best. I would come again to give the seafood a chance, but definitely not the breakfast again And definitely no drinks lol read more

I phoned my order in for pick up and spoke with a very nice young lady. She took my order of a wet burrito with chorizo and red sauce. So i asked how long until ready and she told me 10-15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and sure enough it was ready. The burrito was so good! It was Fantastic in fact!! The staff was so awesome they even sent me home with both red and green sauce in sealed containers. I highly recommend this restaurant and I plan to go back soon! read more

Slap me silly. Where was this place hiding? The answer is more obvious, once you know we have a favorite restaurant just a few doors down, so frankly I was wearing blinders. That, and I always toss out the question, does Corona really need yet another Mexican restaurant? No. Unless it is a good one. First of all, it is cute and colorful inside, Ensenada-ish, and more importantly, clean. This is a great place for large groups, with massive tables, and there is a small bar where you can imbibe, and not just beer. But you really want to know about the "eats" here, right? Camarones Cucarachos - my preferred dish here, even though it comes as an appetizer. The large platter of shrimp comes with the shell and head still on, and is drenched in a dry rub mix then fried. The shrimp are sweet and difficult to resist. Carne asada - I was impressed with the tenderness of this dish. I have only had it once, but a second time is in the making. Carnitas - The carnitas was good, but I have fallen in love with another local carnitas restaurant. I am holding out for the other place. Chile verde - Not their best dish. Just ok. Chicken limon - This was also, just ok. Easy to overcook, and it was. I spent a lot of time trying to give it a lemony flavor to compensate for the dryness, but it just did not happen. Chuletas rojo - just ok. Camarones mojo de ajo. I say, stick with the Cucarachos appetizer. The shrimp is better prepared. 2 kinds of salsa, a tomato based and a tomatillo based. I was not impressed with the former, the latter I loved at first, but it varied in spiciness each time we visited until I was unable to tolerate the heat anymore. read more

We have gotten take out and also dined in from El Barco. I think it is good, but 3 stars because I've had other slightly better mariscos in the area. But for myself, I think I enjoyed their fish tacos and their shrimp tacos the most. The shrimp coctel is OK (overcooked shrimp). I also have tried their mar y tierra with carne asada, shrimp, rice and beans, and I felt like the carne was very dry and a bit tough. Service was friendly and efficient. It would really help to have the AC working as it was pretty hot when we dined in. They do have a very extensive menu and I enjoyed my michelada as well. I was surprised that they did not have shrimp enchiladas on the menu, although maybe they can customize (I did not ask). Their cucumber lime agua fresca was delicious. read more

Beautiful owners and cooks. Probably one of the best breakfasts in town, both quality and price wise. Their shrimp with garlic cannot be beat! Same with their salsas! Portions are plentiful! So very very considerate even with small things...that yes, matters. My preferred drinks are milk and tea. Me a bit of connoisseur re tea. Do not order online! You won't get your food and say their system was off. Better yet don't call to order either because no one will answer. My husband and i used to be regulars and this place is super unprofessional and understaffed it'll take ages to get your food !!! their food has too much grease, or comes out spoiled i've never seen a waitress last in this restaurant, they're always understaffed ( only 1 server in the whole restaurant). The poor girl took more that 30 mins to take down my order the last time i came in . They have no ac so you will be extra hot and sweaty. Very rude and arrogant ambiance . Looks really nice inside, music is good. Plate looks ok. I ordered a cheese enchilada dish. But it did not taste flavorful at all. My kidos ordered the kids plate of chicken strips but they looked small and shriveled up..... but the fat fries were good! I feel it was nice to try something new but I won't be visiting again.
