The service is quick and efficient. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. The few times I have gone, there haven't been very many people, I tend to go on the off hours. Planning an event from out of state can be stressful, but Memo, the manager, made the entire process so much easier. From my very first call, Memo patiently answered all of my questions regarding pricing, room options, and the menu. Reserving the room was simple, and as our guest list continued to grow, we ended up doubling our original reservation. When I called Memo, he graciously accommodated our larger party and moved us into the bigger room without hesitation. We arrived in San Antonio two days before the party and had the opportunity to meet with Memo in person. He walked us through the room, answered my last-minute questions, and helped us feel confident that everything was ready. On the day of the celebration, everything went smoothly. Dave and Pancho provided exceptional service to our family. They were attentive, kind, and made sure everyone was well taken care of throughout the evening. The food was delicious--especially the beef fajitas! The buffet remained well stocked, and everything was replenished regularly, ensuring our guests never had to wait. The celebration was a tremendous success, and most importantly, my dad felt incredibly loved and celebrated on his 80th birthday. While the room was a little cozy with 65 guests and a mariachi band, the joyful atmosphere made it a memorable evening for everyone. One suggestion that could make hosting special events even easier would be offering a projector, screen, and sound equipment as rental options. Since we were planning from out of state, we had to scramble a bit to secure those items. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end, but having those resources available through the venue would be a wonderful convenience for future customers. We were seated in the upper area, not on the main floor. We're OK with that. There are about four two-seaters on this level. Ernesto Jr. came by and explained the three specials offered this evening. The menu lists about a dozen different sauces that can top the dish you order. They all sound delicious. I had the Steak San Antonio. This is a filet of tenderloin covered in avocado butter (so good) with an enchilada of your choice, rice and beans. Served with a basket of freshly baked French bread. The husband had a seafood combo: shrimp, lobster, snapper stuffed with lump crab served with rice. His was topped with the Veracruz sauce and another selected by Ernesto. Fabulous. The food has flavor. Tons of flavor. The service is spot on. Ernesto comes by first, talks to you, makes suggestions and then takes your order. The rest of the staff takes over from here. Delivers your food, keeps up with refills, clears the table, brings the bill. This is a well-run process. We had ceviche to start. The husband is not a big fan, so I ate the majority. I felt this was an incredibly unprofessional response as a server. I asked to speak with the GM & Daisy, manager came over and was dismissive and unprofessional. Overall the team at La Fogata Alamo Heights was underwhelming, unresponsive, and under staffed. I'm not sure what is happening at La Fogata or if they've become a franchise but stay clear of the Alamo Heights location.
