MAJOR kudos to Mamacita's! My brothers and I planned an 80th birthday celebration for our dad while living in California, with the party taking place in San Antonio. Planning an event from out of state can be stressful, but Memo, the manager, made the entire process so much easier. From my very first call, Memo patiently answered all of my questions regarding pricing, room options, and the menu. Reserving the room was simple, and as our guest list continued to grow, we ended up doubling our original reservation. When I called Memo, he graciously accommodated our larger party and moved us into the bigger room without hesitation. We arrived in San Antonio two days before the party and had the opportunity to meet with Memo in person. He walked us through the room, answered my last-minute questions, and helped us feel confident that everything was ready. On the day of the celebration, everything went smoothly. Dave and Pancho provided exceptional service to our family. They were attentive, kind, and made sure everyone was well taken care of throughout the evening. The food was delicious--especially the beef fajitas! The buffet remained well stocked, and everything was replenished regularly, ensuring our guests never had to wait. The celebration was a tremendous success, and most importantly, my dad felt incredibly loved and celebrated on his 80th birthday. While the room was a little cozy with 65 guests and a mariachi band, the joyful atmosphere made it a memorable evening for everyone. One suggestion that could make hosting special events even easier would be offering a projector, screen, and sound equipment as rental options. Since we were planning from out of state, we had to scramble a bit to secure those items. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end, but having those resources available through the venue would be a wonderful convenience for future customers. We've loved Mamacitas since they've been in town! The food is delicious and everything is priced right. The frozen adult drinks are very tasty and alcohol is perfectly mixed. My favorite is the green chicken enchilada plate and the bean and cheese nachos. The chips and the salsas they bring out are so good as well. I mix the green avocado salsa with the red salsa. Service is excellent. They have the waiters and separate servers for refilling chips/salsas and drinks. You won't be waiting for refills. Inside the restaurant is so fun! First time here and I was impressed with the place itself...upon entering the decor is vibrant and the place itself is spacious. They have an area for the tortilla making and an area with video games for the young ones or for the kid in the adult. Staff was very presentable and helpful as well. Plenty of seating space inside for large parties. When I was a kid, I spent almost every July in San Antonio visiting my grandparents. Fiesta Texas, The Alamo, Bill Miller's chicken, and all that jazz. I fondly remember that every visit we would always make a stop at Mamacita's for dinner. The interior was like The Alamo, and an animatronic Davy Crockett sat playing songs for the customers. The tortilla press was always a beauty to me as a kid. That was over ten years ago now. I've developed a whole personality toward food since then and actually eat more than cheese quesadillas and chips. After my parents moved to San Antonio last year, I've made a few trips back to Mamacita's with my grandparents and any special guests who come to visit with us. With my girlfriend in town, my parents suggested Mamacita's and we said, "why not." The one thing I know about Mamacita's and continue to remember is that their service is pretty good. My grandfather is very impatient, and if he's continued to return for 15 consecutive years, that says something. Their chips and salsa are always pretty good, but I'm always entertained by their green sauce. Why is it lime green? What is it? I don't know, but I've always enjoyed it, even as a kid. As for my main meal, I opted for the Combinacion de Pollo, which was a crispy chicken taco and a chicken enchilada. Both were good, and I loved that it was served with guacamole, queso, rice, and refried beans. It feels slightly nicer than a hole in the wall, but it's still very casual. Mamacita's is nothing special on the food side of things, but that's really not why it pulls you in. It's definitely one of the coolest restaurants I've eaten at. It feels like a themed restaurant at a theme park. The sky still has shining stars in it. Davy Crockett is still standing around, though sadly he has retired from playing or even moving for that matter. As we left, I took a few coins and threw them into their fountain for good luck. My grandma would always designate some coins for all of her grandchildren to make a wish. Now it's me putting my own pennies in the fountain. Yes, we don't go here a lot, this time was for a birthday celebration for my sister. Great place for a large group. They had a couple more locations, but unfortunately closed. My sister love coming here, but she lives in San Marcos. Place is huge with plenty of seating, a full bar, cool decors, a water fountain in the restaurant. Employees are polite and keep the place clean. My sister loves the queso flameado. We enjoy the salsas and the food is good. Service is really good. read more

We dined in for a dinner party at Mamacita's. When you walk into the restaurant it appears to be like you're in a mexican village or outdoor mercado. It's really nice and super cute. I wish I would have taken a pic indoors. We were served the mixed fajita plate with a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and flour tortillas. The food and service were great! The fajitas were tender and tasty, and the beans and rice were flavorful. I liked everything on my plate with the exception of the cheese enchilada. It was plain, the tortilla was tough and didn't have any flavor. Everything else was delicious and seasoned well. I recommend it. (not pictured but their margaritas, Mojitos, premium top shelf. Came for Sunday night dinner. It's large place. We had t o wait a few minutes to be seated. Menu is extensive so I think most people will find something they like. We had the beef fajitas. The snapper +shrimp plate, and the kids had quesedilla and tacos. The beef for the fajitas were soft and flavorful. I was scared it would be dry or super chewy. We had to request corn tortillas as we were initially served the flour ones. My drink was ok- Gin Martini. And others had Beers. We didn't do the dessert or appetizer menu because the food was plenty enough. The table served nachos were also enjoyable. I recommend. read more

So I came here this past weekend with family to celebrate mothers day. The place definitely had plenty of room to seat in and the area looked clean. There was a area to play games (near the front), a bar on the side, and nice lights and decorations throughout. We were able to be seated pretty quickly and handed the menus. Our waitress seemed nice enough. She refilled drinks and made sure our order was right. She was busy towards the end and didn't see her much but thankfully the manager helped us out when needed. We had chips with salsa and green sauce (guacamole and sour cream mixed i believe). I did like the salsa but wish it was a bit spicy. I wasn't really a fan of the other sauce they gave but I'm not huge on sour cream either. I ordered chicken enchiladas with jalapeño sauce and it was alright. I do wish the sauce had a bit more flavor or spice to it. The rice and beans were nothing fancy but were hot/decent. We also had these little tortilla bowls served with guacamole and pico (someone had jalapeño with theirs). I thought they were very cute. Only complaint was some of them tasted stale. Tortillas tasted good at least. Overall it was a decent experience and maybe would consider coming back here in the future. read more

Family fave when we lived here 14 yrs ago. Now we are back and place seems to still have a crowd. Felt nostalgic when we walked in. Still looked the same- same waterfall and same tortilla making fresh tortillas right there in the dining area. We loved (and still do) those tortillas. Our waitress was so good about keeping them coming. There were many birthday groups that evening. The restaurant was busy but was very accommodating to these larger birthday party tables. The food took a bit coming out but the chips and salsa were good and kept us occupied. The food came out and mine was fine. Wife wasn't too happy with her rice - a bit salty- but I did not get any rice - just beans. My son said his food was fine as well, however since moving here and trying a number of Mexican food/ restaurants-- he agreed that the food didn't stand out very much. Always one of our favorites when we visit San Antonio. The green sauce is like nothing else. The decor is like sitting in a market square. Just so fun. You start with their red and green salsa (green is a sour cream based sauce) red salsa was good had a tiny bit of spice, the green one, was different. Hubby didn't like it. It was okay, but nothing I'd crave. Their chips were either store bought or stale but the fresh tortillas were amazing! I had their enchiladas (cheese with Mamacita's sauce & chicken with jalapeno sauce) the mamacitas sauce was super salty. It was good but just too salty. The chicken with jalapeno was good, the inside was very juicy which kinda made the sauce too loose. The jalapeno sauce could've used more spice & seasoning. Their refried beans and rice were good! Hubby had flautas. He said they were good but nothing overly impressive. He asked for double rice as he's got a bean allergy and he got maybe one servings worth. Drinks were great! I give them a 5 on the salsa and 2 on the food portions was good but the food had no seasoning. If you want good salsa you are fine just don't expect to be satisfied with the food. Went for a group event, sat in a room. The place is spacious and great for large party with private room. We got fajitas, cheese on fire, chips + guac etc. Food was great, wish we got more variety. The steak was delicious, the fajita place is a little small in portion but you fill up on the sides. My friends got margarita, it was HUGE and looks delicious. The servers were very attentive and kept coming in with refills. I'd be back on my own to try the other stuff. Overall, great place! read more

This is a nice Mexican restaurant, more upscale than most around. Has both coffee and alcohol bars. Interesting menu, some dishes require explanation. But food well prepared by helpful staff. There's a cheese app that is flambéed at the table, then wrapped in a tortilla. Excellent fajitas. The indoor is decorated to resemble an outdoor patio area, tasteful with lots of color and variety. Several rooms available for groups. Some very large tables too (1 huge round table for a dozen). Prices a bit higher than other similar restaurants, but all nice enough to justify. Strike one: Came here again to deal with the small drink glasses, Lol. Hey, can I get a refill please? Anyone? Where is our waitress? Oh she's busy getting refills for other tables. Strike two: Waitress didn't come around until 10 min after we were seated. When we asked for more chips, she said they were out of chips. Huh? This is weird. We were so disappointed and made sure to let our waitress know. Magically, she brought more chips later? Ok thanks for upsetting us even more. At least she made it happen. Plus side: The food was good. I had the green enchiladas and my wife had the flauta plate, we ate well. Service was good except for the chips experience. Doesn't take much to ruin a Sunday visit really. At least we ate good, which is why we come back, when we are hungry. People, when we go out to eat, we are paying to be served. Not sure why this place has less stars than they deserve. Came in at opening (11am) on a tuesday and was greeted by great decor, and nice staff. Tasty chips & 2 types of salsas. The flaming queso w/ chorizo is amazing. They accommodated and answered questions about allergies and are very educated on what products go into their dishes. Food was tasty. Highly recommend the beef fajitas, beef and chicken enchiladas, charro beans, grilled (you have to ask for that instead of fried) tacos! Service is great and lots of spacious seating. This was my first visit to Mamacita's Restaurant and overall it was good. My first impression was a guy driving around on golf cart in the parking lot and then saw huge signs posted about vehicle crime. I got really nervous and moved my car closer to the door hoping would be safer. The outside is extremely nicely designed as a Mexican architectural style. The inside was just as nice and looked like a Mexican courtyard with different cafe fronts and starlight dark ceiling. It was very attractive. There was a bakery, bar, entertainment area with games to play including play to win a giant life sized plush bear, and tortilleria. I was here for a family get-together and the staff was very nice. I ordered the Crispy Tacos (Chicken) where the menu described it as; three seasoned shredded chicken tacos in crispy shells with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The place was very roomy and with the high ceiling was not to loud. I ordered a regular frozen margarita and it was delightful. The three chicken tacos was very tasty having a nice flavor and the taco shell was crispy. The sides were Mexican rice and charro beans. They were also not bad. I even got a big scoop of avocado to add to my tacos. The taco shell it was on was not very good but mostly for decoration. Mamacita's was a great place for a large family group and it anyone had a birthday then would have a Mexican hat placed on your head and the staff sing Happy Birthday to you. We came here on Wednesday night (June 17th) to celebrate a birthday, and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience. When we walked in, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot inside, despite it being 90° outside. We waited 45 minutes just to receive our food. When it finally arrived, the quality was a major disappointment. My fajitas were incredibly chewy and dry, and the rice and beans were stuck to the plate, clearly having sat under a heat lamp for a long time. My grandson's food was the exact same way--dry and over-warmed. The only saving grace was our waiter. He was extremely nice, professional, and worked incredibly hard, even though he was slammed running multiple tables. Because of the terrible food and uncomfortable atmosphere, we will not be returning. read more

Upon a friend's recommendation, we came here for an early dinner on a Friday. Walking in, your eyes will easily divert to various parts of each room you enter as there are lots of things to look out. It's large inside, almost feels like I'm kinda at an amusement park lol The décor throughout was interesting, but put a smile on my face. In the main dining area, there's a statuesque Davy Crockett, that played the violin every so often lol Menu was large, we ordered drinks first right off the bat. I ordered a mango margarita.. I hadn't had one in awhile. Very sweet....dangerous, cuz it's easy to drink. Complimentary chips and salsas. They have a house red salsa which was bomb and an interesting neon green salsa. Per our server, found out the green was a mix of guacamole, dried chiles, and sour cream. I ordered the beef and chicken fajita. I highly recommend- plenty of grilled veggies, meats were tender and flavorful, I'm not a huge rice person, but I liked their rice, it had a nice outer crisp from the sizzling plate, charro beans, and a side tortilla cup of guacamole, salsa, etc. I can never get enough of guacamole. Everyone at the table enjoyed their platters as well. If you're looking for a fun, casual, and good Mexican food - this place is it. Great for large parties too! Manager didn't seem to give a crap with her attitude. Im sure the restaurant can find someone who can actually run the place in a semi decent manner. It seems that this restaurant has become our unofficial birthday celebration place. My wife (3/17) and daughter (4/5) both chose it for their birthday dinner. My wife and I met our daughter and her boyfriend here last night. We did not have reservations, and they were packed. However, the ladies that greeted us said no problem and took us to a nice table in the back corner. So the first thing to say is that the help is wonderful. They are very friendly, knowledgeable, and so willing to please. Customer service is some of the best that I've seen outside a fine dining establishment. It's also a nice touch when the general manager comes around during dinner to check on our food, service, etc. The menu is pretty extensive and took some time to review. On both of our trips, I ordered the same thing, a combination plate. It comes with beef enchilada, beef taco, guacamole, queso, rice, and beans. All of it was very good except for the rice on this trip. It was just a little overcooked. My drinks, top shelf margaritas, were excellent and really went down way too smoothly. After dinner, our waitress noticed that we had brought a birthday cake with us. Without anyone saying anything to her, she showed up with plates and forks for the cake. Nice! Will I return? Definitely, but I will not be waiting for the next birthday. That would be way too long:-) read more

I mean the food wasn't the worst it was just very basic I love how they give complimentary chips and dip. The green dip is so freaking good. I got the fajita and it was good. solid 4 stars Drinks were also very good. I got the Peach Marg and it was very refreshing. The bad thing.. our waiter. I'm not sure who it was but probably the worst waiter experience I've had. He was a taller hispanic fella that just had a zoned out face the entire time. He was in the corner where the waiters put in their orders and he was looking towards our direction and I needed something so I was waving him over .. he didn't budge so i started WAVING my hands like crazy and he still didn't budge. Eventually the manager had to snap at him and tell him to come over. He took FOREVER to bring us anything. Our checks, our to go boxes.. so service wise.. it was a 1 star read more

Mamacita's was a pleasant surprise! I came here with a group from church and fell in love with the interior! It's design is that of if you were exploring the streets of Mexico. It was so fun to find things throughout the decor. Definitely kept me distracted at times. Haha! The food was great! There was a green sauce of some sort that was put out with the salsa to dip chips in. It was delicious! I'm not sure what was in it other than garlic. Very garlicky, which I love! I had the burrito and I really enjoyed it! The portions are large so I took half home. The service was good! I was with a large group and a bit distracted. I noticed I had to ask for refills, but that's okay. They refilled chips and stuff without asking, which was nice. The only downside was once we paid the bills, nobody would even look at us. Haha! We stayed a bit after and wanted some water but I couldn't get anyone to stop or notice. A great place I'll be sure to be back! read more
