I have never felt discriminated in my life until Thursday 10/02/25. I was in a conference that was hosted in The Cliffs Hotel & Spa in Pismo Beach. I told my daughter to have lunch at Marisols while i was at my conference. She got seated in the outside dining area. After my lunch I went to check up on how it was going. She was never asked what she wanted to drink. Since we were talking didn't pay attention to the time, but I did notice 30 minutes had passed by & no one had come to her order. But I see these 2 young ladies of a lighter color get seated, they gave them water & asked "what would you like to drink". I was so angry. She had been sitting there & no one bothered to get her order. I said F**k this, we got up & walked out & no one even acknowledge us. I was so disappointed. Never in my life had this happened to us. Met friends for lunch recently. Didn't know that they only provide valet parking and there was a jam up to be parked. They don't charge you for parking if you eat in the restaurant. We were sat at a high top table in the bar area which wasn't very comfortable. Plus it was in front of the outside door and chilly. The staff is very nice and gave us good service but the food was pretty mediocre. I got a salad and considered adding chicken or tuna but it was almost $10 extra which was high. My husband got an ahi tuna "bowl" which was oddly served on a plate with just rice, corn and tuna and the portion was small. We both thought the food was okay but nothing special. We won't be going back since there's so many better restaurants in the Pismo area. read more

Late dinner on a Sunday. One of the few places with the doors open past 9 that served food still. We sat at the bar and I ordered the nachos with carnitas. The bartender was friendly and helpful when we had questions about the menu or drinks and the area. We had wandered outside to see the view and she even came out to let us know the food was ready and served. It was a bit pricey although it is the coast and everything is expensive. 2 apps one entree and 2 drinks totaled about $100 - food was delicious and didn't disappoint read more

We stayed at the Cliff and Spa resort in Pismo Beach and wanted to try out the hotel restaurant for lunch. It turned out to be a great choice to have lunch at the Marisol. The restaurant sits on top of a cliff right above the ocean. All outdoor seatings are greeted with a great view of the ocean and a nice breeze. Despite the scorching summer heat, the outdoor dining was very pleasant. The foods are above average. This restaurant is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Most of the time, the restaurant is full. When we had our lunch here at around 2pm, the place was still packed. We had a perfect table right on the edge of the patio with a 180 degree view of the ocean. Our server was very nice and helped us select some delicious lunch. The calamari for the appetizer was fantastic. The sweet and sour sauce was a delightful compliment to the fried Calamari. As for the food, both of our grilled peach burrata and clam chowder soup were delectable. The grilled peach went well with the burrata cheese for the summer. The clam chowder was awesome as Pismo Beach is know for its clam chowders. For people that are visiting Pismo Beach, Marisol is definitely a good choice to have a meal and enjoy the ocean view especially during the sunset hour. read more

Had breakfast on a Thursday around 9 am. We went for the view - they would not seat us on outside upper deck but immediately seated others in the spot requested. Food was ok but service on water, coffee and getting check really slow. Not worth the $$ when you can't get the view. read more

We attended the Sunday brunch here. It was the Sunday before Christmas. The brunch was phenomenal. The only extra additional things they had that were Christmasy or holiday like were two desserts. Everything else was standard. It came with limitless mimosas and lots of delicious food. They had a carving station with three different types of meat, salad, your traditional bacon and sausage, corn bread stuffing, chili Quiles, Ham, and omelette station, a waffle station where waffles are made fresh for you, quite a few different desserts, a seafood station, egg/ grit/meat soufflé which was phenomenal and a few more items. All of the food was freshly prepared and it was extremely flavorful. We made reservations and sat at a table next to the window with a beautiful ocean view. The servers were extremely attentive at removing plates and filling our waters and champagne. They were extremely friendly and the entire staff was very knowledgeable and were able to answer any questions we had. They had a live musician playing which was lovely. It may seem pricey but folks, you get what you pay for. We will definitely be back. read more

The place has an amazing view. We can hear for a quick drink to catch up with friends! I got the Sunset spritz, it was so refreshing and not too sweet. I could drink 4 of these and not get tiered of it. My friends got the Pismo beach Punch and that was also delicious it's very fruity and a little sweet. The last drink was a mangonada, I don't try it but they said it was very good and the tajin rim was perfect. The service was great and friendly. The staff was very accommodating and gave us a perfect outdoor table to watch the sunset. The waiter AJ was very friendly but not overbearing, and even had the chef serve a special off-menu basil risotto for us. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that the oysters could have been fresher and the red sauce in the grouper special was overpowering, hiding the delicate flavors of the fish and risotto. The lamb lollipops appetizer was outstanding! So, other than a couple of minor missteps by the chef, this place was excellent. I would definitely eat there again! read more

I don't usually do reviews but the food was so terrible! The quality doesn't justify what they are charging. We had a long drive so we were hungry! The calamari was a joke! It had no taste, all batter. The ribeye steak had some weird gravy on top which took away the flavor of the steak (what are u trying to mask here) and the loaded baked potato was not good at all. Terrible presentation. The chowder had tons of potato hardly any clams. I would think the kids Mac n cheese would be good but nope. Only thing good was the bruschetta. This was a disappointment. What's the point of having an establishment like this when it sucks. It has great views, the drinks were decent, and ok service. The pics on the reviews were deceiving. Highly disappointed cuz they charge good money for the food and services but you're hardly getting any of what you pay for. Terrible service tonight. We had a reservation. We had small children and it took 2 hours to get our food. Our waiter appeared to be drunk or high and kept forgetting about us and didn't take our order. He forgot our drinks and would just disappear. He had druggie behavior. It's always the perfect place to be and the BEST views. Pro tip mornings are chill bring a jacket to sit on the patio. There is one thing for sure is the ocean views and patio are the place to be. The food is also amazing. I ordered the banana bread French toast with bacon. Just thinking of that sizzling hot bacon now makes my mouth water. The French toast is very big in portion but is a little too sweet in my opinion with the sweet cream on top of it as well as syrup on the side. Attentive service from our server Vance. I ordered a Blue Sapphire, dry martini . It was perfectly made. We sat at a high top passed the bar area and had an excellent view of the ocean (roof top seating outside). Although it was not busy at 6pm on a Monday, I can imagine that the outside seating and bar area would resonate quite a bit of noise (loud voices). But this particular evening was perfect for quiet conversation. I ordered the avocado chopped salad and added Seared Ahi. A gluten free meal that was balanced well in texture and flavor. The. lime dressing was perfect compliment for the added Ahi. Husband ordered the swordfish. It was slightly over cooked but the fruit salsa was a tasty addition to the fish. Beautiful presentation. In my experience, a restaurant that is associated with a hotel does not always rise to the level of a worthwhile venture. I am not sure if these restaurant count on the name recognition of the hotel, and rely on a built in clientele, thus not having to work as hard to set a higher standard of satisfaction. Such is not the case with Marisol. My wife and I stayed at The Cliffs Hotel, which is located adjacent to Marisol. I did not have high expectations; however, after interacting with the staff and receiving our first cocktail, I immediately began to reassess my opinion. It was a cool, breezy evening, but we decided to sit outside due to the current pandemic. My wife found refuge beneath an outdoor heater, and was very happy despite the wind. Our serve was great. She took our drink orders and was back in a heartbeat. The cocktails were fabulous. I asked our server for her recommendation, and she did not hesitate. She recommended the avocado chop salad. Great recommendation. My wife had a craving for some nachos. We split both orders. The salad was absolutely incredible. The salad was topped with freshly cut avocado perched atop a bed of mixed green, roasted garbanzo and heirloom tomatoes. The ginger dressing was light and flavorful. This was an absolute home run. The nachos did not quite reach the same level of satisfaction. The fresh made chips were greasy. The cheese was over cooked and formed a hard, congealed ring around the chips. The overall presentation and end result was underwhelming. However, the cocktails, salad and attentive server more than made up for this setback. I ordered a Shell Beach Spritz. I am not one for champagne cocktails, but my oh my was this ever a refreshing way to kick back and enjoy the sunset. My wife and I enjoyed the experience so much, we went back for lunch the next day. We ordered a turkey club sandwich and the avocado salad once again. The turkey club was the best club sandwich I have ever eaten. The roll was buttery soft, the bacon was perfectly cooked and the turkey was sliced to perfection. The salad was as good as the night before. We decided to go back last night for a cocktail and dessert. We had the most unbelievable dessert, a s'mores tower. Rich and decadent. The tower sits in a thin pool of caramel sauce. Warning: do not eat this alone, and do not take your blood sugar. If you are ever in Pismo Beach, do yourself a favor and pop into Marisol. I am confident you will not be disappointed. read more

I've been here a number of times and enjoy the food and view every single time. They have a full bar and I love how fresh their seafood is. You can also step out and have access directly to the beach with a little leg workout. They have a large dining area that can accommodate large parties, which is absolutely wonderful. I called very last moment this past Saturday morning to see if they could accommodate for a party of 20 in 2 hours. They happily obliged. Once we were on our way we were informed that we'd only have a small menu to choose from so that was a bit disappointing because half the people were going to be children from 6-13 and others had dietary restrictions (we'd looked at the menu and found items for those people prior to picking the place) Once we arrived they told us the chef was able to give us kids menus as well as let us order off the original menu due to our situation! (It sounds like parties of 10 or bigger are typically set to only order off of the smaller menu, for future reference) Our waiter AJ was phenomenal and very attentive. Only one of the items came out bad (undercooked and then had a bite taken out when it was sent back?) We're not entirely sure what happened. There's an added gratuity of 20% for parties bigger than 8. We would have happily paid it regardless but it was already added on to the bill. Past experiences are typically just my husband and I but this is definitely a nice little spot to eat at if you're staying at the Cliffs Hotel right next door or in the area for something laid back with delicious food. read more

We weren't able to sit outside, the weather was wet on this spring day, I can imagine it'd be lovely dining outside on a summer day. The staff was courteous, professional and attentive. The food was good and fairly tasty, we had the egg,bacon n toast and a linguica scramble, portion was enough, yet it seems that they use a way too much oil on the food prep. Although the hash browns were nice perfectly crispy, but the bacon was limp and soft, even though we requested crispy bacon. The cappuccino was lukewarm warm and seemed like it was an instant concoction, the coffee tasted burnt like it was commercial like Starbucks. The polite server, the prices being fair and The beach being accessible by taking the nearby walking path to a staircase down was a definite plus after consuming a cooking oil laced breakfast. My partner and I walked in for Breakfast/Brunch at 8:10am. The host greeted us with a smile asked if our requested table for two was a "reservation or a walk-in". We told her we are a Walk-In and asked if we could sit on the patio. As we were being taken to our table, she told us our server hadn't arrived yet (to work); but we would be helped as soon as the server arrived. After approximately 7 minutes a server approached out table, apologized for the wait, told us she is also acting as bartender, and promptly took our drink and food order. My partner ordered the lobster benedict with potatoes and I ordered the huevos rancheros. Our coffee and water arrived within just a few minutes and our food just a few more minutes after that, they were VERY fast. The lobster benedict was delicious, although my partner was confused about the asparagus served on the benedict, he really enjoyed the potatoes as well. My huevos rancheros were lukwarm, disappointingly so. It had good flavor but was definitely missing the heat element, which caused the dish to be mediocre. We spent 30 minutes at the restaurant from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. 4 stars for prompt service including the initial delay, 2 stars for huevos rancheros, 4.5 stars for lobster benedict, 4 stars for coffee. 3 stars overall. I would maybe recommend; but I would try them again to see if today was possibly a fluke. read more

Took them 20 to send someone to our table to start with and over an hour for the food. The alerts era never came before the food either. They know the location is prime and slack on their service, it's disappointing because it ruins the visit. This was not our first time and the same thing happens every time. If you can't deal with everyone you are seating, seat less people or have more servers/kitchen crew. read more

My favorite is usually the pineapple Paloma if you're looking for a recommendation. My wife and I have been to Pismo for many vacations throughout our 28 year marriage, we've dined out at almost every location you can possibly think of in the area. This is the first time we tried Marisol at the Cliffs. I have to say, I was very impressed when we first walked in with the ambience of the restaurant, and when we were seated, our view a second to none. We had the ocean right in front of us, you could not ask for more. We had the calamari appetizer, which was incredible. My wife had the wedge salad, and the halibut, I had the Osso Buco. Everything was cooked to perfection by the chef. I had a margarita, and she had a pineapple cocktail, we loved to both of them. Located in the cliffs hotel this restaurant has a beautiful view. We went there for breakfast so we didn't get to try any of the dinner dishes. The breakfast was okay, nothing extraordinary. I also don't think we ordered the right stuff, the pancakes and waffles looked amazing. My daughter got the Açaí bowl which was very runny. I got the breakfast eggs and bacon which was okay. One star and I'm saying this bc although we were seated outdoors due to Covid. It was not social distancing. Tables are very close. They only take pics of the spatial distance of their VERY few tables and lounge chairs on the lawn setting. I seen tables there that people had left an hour and still was not sanitized . How did I know ? I saw their half empty plastic cups all over the table as they left and nobody for an hour sanitized it!!!! They tell you to wear a mask, however the tab book they use to give your tab had numerous fingerprints. The server kept forgetting what we ordered. Why didn't he write it down was beyond me! I love the place only because of its view , but I don't think I can return or recommend this restaurant unless they keep tables 6ft apart. read more
