So since we originally were coming here, things have changed. I know before they had other things on the menu, but when this business sold, some of those things were not on the menu anymore. But some of the same items were actually different. One of the things that I don't like is that I couldn't swap the fries out for coleslaw, even if I paid extra. I also couldn't swap out the fries for mac & cheese, even if I paid extra. I just don't eat fries. So I had to buy multiple things which is OK. But then when I tried the fries, they were really bad. I feel like the oil wasn't changed quite often. I kind of felt like the fish was in the same place really super greasy and old oil. My boyfriend ordered a lobster roll and he remembers getting a small container of butter to dip it in. That's no longer. So the price just keeps going up and up on these lobster rolls. I think they are now over 25 each? So the mac & cheese was kind of just a bunch of butter noodles with a clump of cheese in the middle. The cheese wasn't around the pasta. It was just a dried up clump in the middle. I don't know what kind of cheese it was, but it was really hard to spread around the noodles. It just stayed in the clump. So I pulled the clump out and ate most of the noodles. I didn't get a picture of the macaroni and cheese because it came out way after our other food came out. We make a big effort to go here because we have to get in our car from the hotel to drive here. Pack up the dog.. Instead of walking to many of the other restaurants along the way. If we had Uber it, it would probably be way too expensive. So I don't think we're going to make the effort to come here anymore.

Great outdoor seating. Got the chips with guac and also some carnitas nachos. The nachos had a lot of meat. I wish it had more cheese, but it was sufficient. The guac had a creamy savory taste. It took a while for the food to arrive, so that would be my only complaint

We stopped by on a Sunday evening and were very happy we did! They have a variety of seating area s on the patio with fire pits and heaters, some j door seating and a huge kids play area, which we found as we were leaving but will definitely be back next time we're in town with kids. The staff were super friendly and helped turn on heaters plus gave great food recommendations. They have a variety of beer and wine options to choose from. I loved the lobster roll and clam chowder- both delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger. We also split dessert with friends and both the brownie and strawberry shortcake were amazing!! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. We were there near closing so it was pretty empty but I imagine this is a place you can hangout all day when the sun is out!

This place is a solid 5 stars! The Yelp score is not reflective of the new ownership (the Old SLO folks). We had claw meat lobster rolls and they were the real deal. Cold with mayo or warm with drawn butter and grilled lemon. Authentic lobster roll bread. Fries were perfection. Cute patio, some indoor seating (wooden banquette benches and a few tables) and two parking lots. You can also take a nice stroll down a few blocks to the oceanfront. We want to return for happy hour and try some of the shareable snacks. Great service from Haley!

I have loved it here since it was the cape cod eatery and it's only gotten better with the addition of the barbecue!

I had the Salmon plate with Arugula salad, sautéed vegetables with salmon over rice.

It was okay. I think it would have been better if they allowed the dressing on the salad marinate more and had cilantro rice instead. The service was okay. The server didn't really know too much about the food. And the white table with the fire in the middle was pretty but it was dirty when I got there.

We visited Old SLO at the Cape for our son's birthday. We loved the laid back atmosphere, the service was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! We love that this spot is pet friendly!

Came in after arriving in Pismo for a few days. Wasn't busy at all and we almost changed our minds. We are so glad we didn't . The food was amazing and Yesa was great! You won't be disappointed. The lobster roll, poke bowl was a 10/10. Please don't sleep on that Granny cake though you will definitely be back for more. Definitely gonna try to get Granny's recipe.

    Lobster sliders $20 happy hour

We dine in here all the time, especially during happy hour! The service is always exceptional! A special shoutout to Yesa for always going above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. He's friendly, attentive, and truly makes us feel welcomed each time we come in. Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service...highly recommend!

    Ahi sandwich

My ahi sandwich was soo good... my husband had the lobster roll which was good but not as good as DC. The reason for the low review, they brought my husbands roll out 15 min before mine.. I noticed others with the same issue. If they can get good timing figured out it would be awesome.

will be returning again soon! This place was amazing and the food was 10/10. We had the western bbq burger and it was literal perfection. Grateful for the kind workers too.

We were excited to see this place taken over by Old Slo BBQ as that is one spot we like to go to in town. Hadn't been here before the change of ownership, so can't comment on that part. The layout is great, so much outdoor space and the giant sandbox with the windmill is great for kids. Our daughter was having a blast. The patio was nice too since we could sit with our dog. Service wasn't great, but it worked. We ordered the Surf n Turf wrap to share and that was a good decision since it was quite large. I was skeptical about it working well, but it was a nice balance of flavors. Probably a bit too saucy, but still good even though it got a bit messy. Fries were good, nice and crispy but fluffy inside. Pretty neat place, looking forward to coming back again.

    Dog friendly!

Note that the parking lot, depending on which day you go, can fill up very quickly. The location is right off of the 101 and easy to find. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptionally good. My only takeaway would be that I found the food, especially the lobster Mac and cheese to be pretty salty. Definitely excited for my next visit.

We had a reservation for a birthday dinner and arrived about 30 minutes early. We were told we'd be seated closer to our reservation time, which was completely understandable. However, as we waited, we watched several groups (including walk-ins without reservations) get seated before us. Even after our reservation time had passed, we had to check in with the host again before we were finally seated, despite there being plenty of empty tables. The service at the front definitely could have been handled better. The food, on the other hand, was very good with a great variety of options. I loved that they start you off with freshly made tortillas, cinnamon butter, and salsa to share. I ordered the Campechana de Mariscos, which was fresh, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing. We also had the Molcajete, and it was delicious! It came with a great mix of steak, chicken, chorizo, jumbo shrimp, nopal, and cheese. The portion was generous and easily enough for two people. Other dishes we ordered also included the pozole, chicken nachos, and lobster mac and cheese. Everything was delicious as well! The mac and cheese especially. For drinks, I tried the Golden Hour nonalcoholic cocktail, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. It tasted like watered-down ginger beer with no carbonation and only the faintest hint of pineapple. It was more on the bitter taste. Overall, this is a great restaurant for the ocean views and flavorful food. The portions are generous, and there's something for everyone on the menu. The only downside was the host service and the unnecessary wait despite having a reservation. I'd still come back for the food and the scenery.

Our first visit on our impromptu getaway from out of state, and we arrived at about 11 o'clock, as they were opening for the day. We were seated at the best table in the house in my opinion, overlooking the ocean in the middle of these gorgeous scenic windows. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller and was served delicious fresh baked, sourdough rolls and butter just prior, so the appetizer potion was amazing. I highly recommend the oysters Rockefeller, the best I've had. Plenty of juice to sop up with your dinner rolls. The tangy garlic, Parmesan and wine flavor blended well with the large fresh oysters. I received about six or seven oysters with my meal so it was a great deal at 25.00.. Next, I opted for the crab and shrimp pasta and it was fabulous. Plenty of crab meat and perfectly seasoned large jumbo prawns. After this fabulous meal, we walked around and savored the great experience. Because we had such an amazing experience at lunch. We decided to head back for dinner that evening since it was so close. Without a reservation, we were faced with having to wait over an hour for a table, not really sure why because we saw at least five tables, two near the window, open and unoccupied for the entire time we dined at the bar area. When we first entered the bar seating area, we selected a small table off to the right, but not up against the wall as there were a table of six women, and one male already there enjoying their meal. As soon as we sat down, the ladies were so loud, and in my opinion, obnoxious, that we had to move to the bar seating at the other end. I'm a little surprised that somebody didn't go over and ask them to please hold it down. They happened to be up against the wall so the boisterous outbursts of laughter, much of which was feigned, by a few of them bounced off the wall at an ear piercing level, agitating other diners as well. They too left. Moving was a good choice because the bartender was fabulous. He really knew his stuff. Great personality as well. Very focused and efficient and ran the bar like a champ. Again we received the delicious sourdough bread and this time I ordered the jumbo prawns and scallops in lobster risotto. It was truly the best I'd had. It was now one of my favorite meals of all time. My wife enjoyed the coconut prawns special with sweet chili dip. Amazing. We ordered two lemon drop martinis again, perfectly mixed and presented. The whole meal came to about $124. Not bad for an amazing dinner for two on the water in a wonderful place. I give this place five stars because it was really no reason to subtract anything. We also brought our own wine, and the $20 per bottle corkage fee was very reasonable. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was an unusual odor. We couldn't tell if it was because of the older building near the ocean or something from the kitchen. It seemed to disappear once we were seated, but we noticed it again when walking toward the restrooms. It didn't ruin our evening, but it was something that stood out. Service was a little mixed. My husband has a dairy allergy, so he began by asking what came with the Kurobuta pork chop and which of the sides contained dairy. The server seemed hesitant and mentioned that the chef doesn't like to change his menu, even though my husband hadn't asked for any substitutions. After some back-and-forth, the server suggested placing the pork chop on a separate plate from the sides, which was what my husband had been trying to ask for all along. Most restaurants are quick to suggest simple ways to accommodate food allergies, so the interaction felt more complicated than it needed to be. That said, the food itself was very good. The Beef Tataki was one of my favorite dishes of the evening--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Everything we ordered was well executed, but dessert ended up stealing the show. The Loft Brownie was absolutely delicious, and my niece and I loved every bite. My husband was equally excited that they offered a dairy-free chocolate ice cream, which he really enjoyed. Overall, I can see why Oyster Loft is recommended for seafood, but for us it didn't quite live up to the hype. With so many wonderful restaurants in Pismo Beach still on our list to try, I don't think we'll be making a return visit any time soon.
