Waited at the table for 20 mins no one offers us water... it was hot and then I asked where is our server and we are told our sever went on break... thank you Abbey for stepping in serving us and checking on us even though she wasn't our server. Asked our server Kaylee for for hot sauce, 14 mins later still didn't came so I saw Abbey walk by and asked her. By now our nacho has been sitting for 30 minutes.. I'm so glad that was all the food we ordered. Now my nacho is cold and chesee is hard and stale. All the manger could do is say sorry... I just hope we weren't treated this way because we are a black couple, but it did seem that way. Definitely saw a difference in treatment! Nachos were greasy and nasty. Never again! While we were staying at the Cliffs we visited the Marisol for dinner and the fabulous brunch. For our dinner we sat outside and had a prime ocean view and got to watch the sunset. It was so beautiful and we even compared the scenery and feel to Hawaii! Of course if it is warm enough I strongly recommend sitting outside, but even the inside looked really nice, cozy, and romantic. For dinner we had the bruschetta trio as a very notes me appetizer, which I highly recommend! It's a great spin on bruschetta! All of the food and drinks we had were divine, and David the Maitre D was making sure we and everyone else dining in the restaurant was having a great experience. You can tell he cares a lot about his guests and the restaurant! Even if you are not staying at the Cliffs and are a local, or are staying elsewhere nearby on a Sunday make sure you check out brunch!!! The buffet included many fresh veggie and salad options, a carving station, omelet/ waffle station, and even a taco station! And lots of chocolate covered strawberries! It was so delicious. And of course I have to mention the bottomless mimosas that come with two juices for you to choose from! I am a huge brunchie, and usually find that most bottomless sparkling wine restaurants use are usually very sweet, but I loved the sparkling they were using here!!! I hate to write this review because the Managers are actually super nice but everything else is so lacking (caveat: the managers seem new so maybe they can turn things around in the near future) The disorganization starts from the second you walk in the door- the hostesses have literally no clue what they are doing - I am talking a line out the door that you have to wait 15 minutes just to speak to someone even if you have a reservation. We were staying at the Cliffs and our room wasnt ready so we walked over for an early dinner. I guess they have live music on Friday's but don't know how to vet their musicians. It was so loud and terrible, we kept looking at each other thinking someone was going to come out and yell "Gotcha!", like this was just a big prank to see how we react. Hard to enjoy the ocean view when you have an off-key version of Hallelujah blasting your ear drums. The food is closer to Applebees than it is to a nice restaurant yet the prices reflect that of high-end fare. There's too many good restaurants in Pismo to justify ever going back. Hopefully management rectifies some of these issues quickly. read more

Went to this restaurant thinking it would be great since we were staying at the Cliffs Resort. My husband ordered the burger which he said was phenomenal which is the only reason for 3 stars. I ordered the filet mignon. I ordered it medium. It was so overcooked there was maybe a dash of pink if that but for sure on the well done side. We barely saw our waiter so trying to flag him down was impossible. It also came with potatoes. Don't know how you mess up potatoes but they were not good. The asparagus also seemed to be walked by the steamer because it was basically raw. For a $40 filet meal you'd expect better. The views were nice but I would not go here again. Pleasantly surprised! We were staying at the cliffs and wanted an easy dinner close by. I saw that Marisol had only 3.5 stars on Yelp and was inclined to go elsewhere but the convenience trumped all. However, the food was delicious and the scenery was beautiful. The servers were attentive. I ordered the duck salad and siete mares which was delicious and my husband got guacamole and shrimp risotto which was also good. Here was opposite. Started off with drinks. The drink menu was very minimal. Cocktails were very basic. Mostly juice. Ordered drinks anyway and they didn't come back to take our order until the drinks were COMPLETELY gone. Like make 30mins?!? We ordered appetizers and mains. The food came very fast but they brought all 5 items at once!! (Only 2 of us, but they brought out the appetizers and the main meals all at once) We asked them if we could just have the appetizers first. It's our anniversary and we wanted to enjoy our time together. They took the rest away and didn't come back with it for a very long time. It had obviously been under a warmer (a $40 filet) so it was dried out and goopy. The soup had a film over it. Clam chowder was very unimpressive. Had lots of grainy pieces in it. The meal cost almost $200 and they automatically added 18% tip to the bill. No wonder they aren't caring about actually giving good service or food bc they get a great tip anyway. I've been here twice in the same month, both times have been for happy hour, some time around 5pm. Sat on patio. Amazing view of the ocean. Perfect weather. Cocktails are nice, and the white wine is cold. Takes a while to get cocktails, but the food comes out fast. Chicken nachos, sweet potato fries, and lettuce chicken wraps. All delish, and all super inexpensive during happy hour! The restaurant was gorgeous inside and out on the patio. Phil G was an excellent waiter! He was attentive and made excellent food recommendations. He even brought blankets at dusk when it cooled down outside. The food was excellent! We had a group of 7 and everyone's food was great.... This review is for the in-room dining during our stay at the Cliffs Spa and Resort. Ordered the chicken nachos, buffalo wings, and burger with fries. First off, the name Marisol has me believe there would be Latin inspired dishes but My assumptions were wrong. Chicken nachos were okay but when we noticed how much oil was at the bottom they quickly went from okay to not so great. The jalapeños were also very salty for some reason. I just couldn't handle how salty they were. The buffalo wings were not that good but I like my wings to be dripping with buffalo sauce. They were also overly cooked and dry. The burger was lackluster and nothing special. It was also quite dry. I have eaten at Marisols pre-Covid at their restaurant and it was only okay that time also. Apparently a fish and chip for this restaurant is literally a fish (grilled not battered) and chips (ruffles fried). The service is terrible. Took 10 min to try to get their attention and have them respond "hold on" and repeat another 10 min to give the same response. Ended up staying longer then necessary. We were told that there was a hiccup. The efforts that were made to make up for the mistake are appreciated but the experience was ruined. I heat up an English muffin and make me a salmon English muffin sandwich with eggs, jalapeños and tomatoes - great idea!! The waiters are super super nice- they're constantly making sure you're well-taken care of. The reason for not giving them 5 stars is because the new cook they have on the front bar is very forgetful and that causes delay. Maybe she is new, but I had to tell her three times "egg whites please, spinach, mushrooms and cheese on top". She kept asking "tomatoes and spinach?" I was trying to be kind and while I got other items in my plate I kept reminding her remember it's "egg whites". She was slow and were only three of us waiting. To my surprise when I went for my eggs she gave me an omelet with yolks!! I said "those are not egg whites". She apologized and offered to make them again which brought me to third place on the waiting line. Long story short, on the next round she forgot I had asked for cheese. This place has an amazing Sunday brunch that I've enjoyed many times. Today's meal however wasn't the the tastiest. My breakfast burger was really well done and I can only taste the char. Fries were very salted BUT the fruit was very fresh! Even though this wasn't the best meal I give them a four because of their Sunday brunch. Please note they don't serve lunch until 11am. Came to Marisol for lunch after recruiting at Cal Poly's job fair. The first thing that came to mind was the beautiful view of the water, as well as The Cliff's swimming pool. The one thing I really want to make a comment on, was the crowd. We had sat next to a table full of half naked girls that are in their early 20s... with two perverted gentleman who were clearly in their 50s. They were rowdy, drunk, frolicking/flirting and pretty obnoxious if you ask me. Would I come back? We have stayed at the joining hotel numerous times but this was our first time eating at Marisol. When going to Sunday Brunch there was a line. The hostess told everyone there will be a 10-15 min wait. There was only one server and is on break. They took our number and we waited. The hotel was sold out. I think having one server on staff for Sunday brunch was a huge staffing error. This was the only Resterant on the hotels grounds. 25 mins later we were taken to our table. It was a great view and got our drink order right away. We got our order taken and our food came quick. On my husbands plate he had wheat bread. He ordered an English muffin. Went to Sunday brunch with a group of people and ordered off the breakfast menu that opened at 11AM. There were only 3 others in the group that ordered off the breakfast menu and the rest did all you can eat brunch. The server knew there was a few of us ordering off the breakfast menu yet he didn't show up for awhile after 11AM when he knew we were waiting. Also with the brunch you are suppose to get bottomless mimosas for two hours but we couldn't find our server for the majority of the time and our glasses were constantly empty. I had rehearsal dinner for a wedding here and it was very smooth. Service - plates were being cleared on a timely matter and my water was being watched for the most part. I was expecting medium rare but I got more medium and some parts were medium well done. The sauce for the steak was pretty good though. The salad I had was refreshing and the cheesecake was delicious. My bf also had the overlooked steak but he enjoyed the meat, stating it was a good piece of meat. He ordered the mango sherbet but I guess the waiter heard him wrong and gave the creme brûlée instead. It was still good nonetheless. The happy hour menu online listed pork tacos (doesn't help us because we don't eat pork). But we figured we'd just order off the regular menu and enjoy dinner. We got a great table outside, overlooking the ocean. And then our server, Courtney, let us know: They were making grilled fish tacos Monday for happy hour. Perfect! They come on flour tortillas (menu says no substitutions but due to a food allergy they used corn instead for us). Let me tell you, these fish tacos were damn good. We ordered 4 a piece. ($6 for 2). Ample size and perfectly seasoned. Loved them. They offered select Monday Margaritas on the rocks for $5 each. They were nice. I liked the mango, she liked the coconut. Done. Courtney is an excellent server. She's quick, efficient, personable, and knowledgeable. The following day I ordered a Wild Rocket Salad poolside. I added chicken, substituted queso fresco and did a vinaigrette. Courtney was just as pleasant through my salad adjustments. Salad was on point. It was delicious. Drinks and fries tonight.
