my daughter made reservation for outdoor seating for her birthday 2 weeks in advance. The reservation was for 10 people and we were told that we would have a table outside ready for us when we arrived. upon arrival we were informed that no party more than 6 people can be seated outdoors. This was not communicated to us when we made our reservation, we were told the opposite. After being seated inside we noticed our servers lack of hospitality. After already ordering drinks and appetizers our waiter told us that they were out of almost the entire menu (French fries, bacon, cheeses, their entire raw bar seafood and more). Due to this we left before ordering entrees and were shown no empathy by our waiter or the manager. They had only taken 8$ off of our 86$ check (included only drinks and 2 appetizers). LOVED this spot! Beautiful ambiance, right on the water, great for people watching. They didn't take reservations so we winged it on a Sunday and hoped for the best. Even though it was packed when we got there, there were plenty of picnic tables in the open field to sit and wait, enjoy the views - we even got a drink from the bar first so were able to enjoy that while we waited, and also played a game of corn hole! Love that they had that setup. Just fantastic! We went to Marker 37 with another couple and their children after they suggested it. It was a bit of a ride from where I live but so worth it! It's right on the water and so nice inside and out. They have a lot of seating outside with outside games for both the kiddos and adults. The service was also fabulous. Our server had a great sense of humor and he was very knowledgeable about the menu. We started with drinks and I got an herby fruity martini that was delish. I also got a gin martini with extra olives that was spectacular. I decided on the ahi tuna tacos for my meal which came with chips and guac and was full of flavor. We went here hungry after taking Essex Steamtrain after a boat captain's recommendation. The whole area is a scenic experience of watching boats come in and out along with over seeing the river. Enjoyed an early afternoon lunch on July 4th weekend. A spectacular day with awesome views and a great menu to choose from! Our party enjoyed some Ninigret oysters, the scallop casino app and the butternut squash salad to start as well as fish and chips and the short rib grill cheese. Topped it off sharing the key lime pie and the hot fudge Sunday in a crepe bowl! As a side note, on the outdoor patio, all cocktails are served in plastic. Our party started with some capable cocktails and Oysters, Tuna, salads & an Outstanding Clam Chowder as apps. While the food is good, the portions are measly for the price. That's mostly to be expected with this type of establishment, so order accordingly. Why the markdown to 3 stars? While the swarm of busboys and food runners provide exceptional and friendly service, the wait staff appears oblivious and uninterested in their guests. It easily took 10 minutes to put drink orders in and another 10 to make it to the table. A $13 glass of wine was delivered in a flimsy plastic cup. This would be fine if I was at a dive bar. Finally a glass of wine was delivered to me with no less than 5 flies in it. That only happens if there were purposely put in or the glass of wine was refused by a table and served to me hours later. Can't get a location better than this...right on CT river with magnificent views. Be prepared to wait on a weekend any time after 4pm, there is picnic tables by the river to sit and wait. Food is delicious and fresh tasting, service is usually on the slow side if seated outside and the host was less than enthused about her job. At times, we felt like a burden to the host. Shrimp are $4 each, you would think they would be fresh and delicious at that price. Shrimp scampi Flatbread was more like a small pizza, very disappointing. Our server was great and the food was fine - I had a special Buffalo beef-cavatappi dish and took half of it home. My 3-star rating regards the seating. We had such a wonderful experience here. Thank you to Yelp who helped us find it- beautiful location but necessarily the easiest to get to. We dined outside on a hot but breezy day earlier this Summer and were delighted by the exceptionally fast service. We started with the crispy Brussels sprouts and they were a favorite of the table! Beautiful setting. Both times we've been we were able to sit outside. Friday night we got there a bit before 5 and had no problem getting a table. Within 30 minutes the place was packed (they do not take reservations). Both times we tried the coconut shrimp and loved it. Coconut was flavorful and the shrimp were moist. Other items were good but we felt there could have been more flavor. The fish tacos needed something and the shrimp flatbread was a bit doughy. We arrived at about 3:45 and although most tables were occupied outside, we were able to get a table. We wanted to relax with a cocktail and an appetizer and were not in any hurry. Waitress was busy with a number of tables so she didn't rush us with coming back for our meal choices to quickly. Next we ordered, the food came and we began to eat. All of a sudden the hostess came to our table to inform us that there was a long line of people waiting for a table and we had been over the 2 hour limit and she wanted us to know. I almost expected her to hand us takeout containers to load up our food and leave! If we had known that, there was a two hour limit, we wouldn't have taken our time so leisurely. We thought the food the ambience was great and we certainly wouldn't hold this experience against the but feel that management needed to make that note people as they were entering the restaurant, by either placing a sign or verbally asking people to keep their at two hours. The for the two of us was $130, so it's not like we spend money to enjoy the afternoon. I would've given five stars if it wasn't for this glitch. The patio was so delightful! We started with coconut shrimp which were delicious. We both got beautiful summer cocktails that were very tasty. For lunch - I had a flatbread that was only mediocre. The flatbread itself was too thick and not crispy enough. The fig jam was good but sparse - really - the same goes for the goat cheese and prosciutto too. My husband had the lobster roll. We arrived at noon, and we while I know it sounds awful to say it --the place was filthy. The front foyer had white crumbs all over the floor. It was as if they hadn't vacuumed from the night before. We sat down to find the old summer menu no fall drink specials despite that we were there in October. We asked the waitress why they were still using the summer menu and frowned and shrugged her shoulders. I'm not sure if it was function of sheer laziness on the owners' part, or maybe they can't afford to print a seasonal menu? Honestly, I hardly want to waste my time writing a review for this place. The drinks, appetizer, and main dishes were all terrible. I mean it. We had better food back in the day when we used to go to Applebee's. That's it. Our server was fine, but there was a party of eight adjacent to us, and when their server brought their glasses of ice water, she lifted every single one with her fingers along the rim. First time visit on a Sunday afternoon and overall our experience was very satisfying. The food was top notch, as was the service. I can say there was a weird vibe initially, maybe due to the austere decor in the nearly empty bar (where we were waiting for our patio table) and super low volume music. It was strange and quiet. We would recommend the patio for sure! The staff seemed to be mostly college aged, blonde, and beautiful haha, but again, the service was excellent. The restaurant is next to a marina on the CT river, and there's navy polo shirts, khaki shorts and dock side shoes aplenty. The entire restaurant decor is boat themed, making it excellent atmosphere for mariners who enjoy fine dining. One caveat: the drink ware consists ENTIRELY of plastic cups (maybe a cheap attempt to keep in the "onboard" feel?) which was disappointing to me as a wine drinker, and kept me from giving 5 stars. Not sure if the dining room uses proper glassware, the bar does not. We had the oysters (only one variety offered but they were clean and delicious) as an app. For our main courses I chose the yellowfin tuna, my husband had the scallops. The portions were perfect, everything was absolutely delicious. We'll be back! read more

First time here. Outside patio dining perfect with screen and heaters because it was windy outdoors. Nice water view. Now let's get to the food.... When I saw short ribs on the menu I knew that was it. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese sandwich which came beautifully prepared on sourdough bread, and the house made fried onions were a nice compliment to the short ribs. Then the first bite... am I in Heaven?? Just WOW! Never in my dreams have I had something so tender, the meat juices dripping out of the sides of the sandwich. This is a messy meal but worthy of every stain because it's that good! I'm going back again for this sandwich and hoping they never take it off the menu! You won't be disappointed. read more

I just want to give a huge shout out to Marker 37, Saturday 9/14/24 my step son was getting married and the reception was here. well we had a issue with them getting married at Gillette castle because the bridge was shut down. The coordinator contacted the restaurant and they allowed us to have the wedding right on their property. When we got there they already set chairs up near the river for the wedding. This restaurant went above and beyond and our entire family is more than grateful for what they did and we can't thank them enough. What a little Diamond in the rough! A little hideaway seafood restaurant right smack dab in the marina in Chester. The service was lovely and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the avocado blt for lunch. But the best part is the VIEW! This would be a great spot to come and watch the sunset. I was disappointed with the shrimp flatbread, and the poke bowl, well it was not a poke bowl. I went because I was craving seafood and I will say it is not an atmosphere for college students (i am a college student) but I also don't think it is supposed to fit that atmosphere so if you are older or going with your family its probably good. It was pricey--almost $100 for an early dinner/late lunch for two (and not an excessive amount of food). 2.5 stars personally from my perspective, but again, I think other demographics would enjoy this restaurant more (it looked like the other people around me were enjoying themselves). read more
