I am giving 5 stars for the view and ambiance! The view is really good. The restaurant is right on the river. They have a lot of outdoor seating. There are boats all around. I bet you could take your boat to the marina and then leave it there while you eat! I thought the food was okay! It's not the best restaurant I've ever been to, but it's not the worst. The lobster tacos had a great portion of lobster but it was a little chewy. The Brussels sprouts were fine but not a great portion. Service was okay overall! We were visiting this place with the family. It looks fancy, with beautiful seating outside. You can also walk down to river and enjoy beautiful view, take nice pictures. We had a kid with us and staff provided us with booster seat and paper and pencils for coloring. I think it is thoughtful. My party ordered different kind of things. I personally got myself fish and chips. My expectations were not met. It felt like the dish was not full and definitely missing something. You can tell it by the amount of food I got (not much fries and one piece of fish) and tartar with ketchup. I liked the fries, I really was disappointed with fish. Mistakes all around when we were in recently. Food came out wrong, with onions when asked for without, the calamari didn't have any drizzle on it as the menu said it would, tasted quite fishy and was rubbery. One in our party ordered a specific beer, but got something completely different. Food took well over an hour to arrive, drinks took close to 30 minutes. The outdoor patio was possibly the only thing this spot has going for it. The breezes and views are gorgeous. The waitress was so done with her job and dropped the check without saying a word. Getting to be that time of year....when you want to eat outside. If it's still too cold their patio is enclosed with heaters and we had a beautiful Spring view. At 3:30 we had our pick of tables and prompt, friendly service. We shared the tuna and a short rib grilled cheese. Both perfect. When we arrived , it was a 30 minute wait inside or out under shade , except for the couches outside . We took them . In retrospect, we shouldn't have . The heat was brutal . The view was amazing . Probably best to see at dusk . Ordered guacamole app . It was ok . Lunches though were great . My burger was on a brioche roll . Cooked perfectly and fries fresh . Came to Marker 37 with expectations to experience fine food, charming waterfront quiet scene and warm friendly service. To our surprise, had the worst service in latest year. Wine was served in water glasses , which is very uncomfortable to hold, and led to dropping the glass and spilling the wine. The server didn't even pay attention, had to wipe with napkins that served for personal dinner use. Another thing was the empty finished plates were not taken away until we asked to do so, because there were no space for food to place Comfortably. Regardless of fine and tasty food and location atmosphere, we left with ruined mood. Very unfortunate, but cannot recommend the place, and hope the owner will pay attention to service. read more

Went for an early dinner with a party of 6. We had to wait for a table because even though we had a reservation, we requested the patio which they did not promise and it wasn't available right away. So we proceeded to sit at the bar and had a cocktail. The bartender Jackson was great. He was friendly,fun and had recommendations on the menu which would be helpful once we were seated. We were finally brought to our table and the beautiful view was worth the wait. But then we waited quite some time before anyone came over to say hello. Finally, after our server came over there were several other problems with the service throughout our dinner but we'll put all of that aside. As for the food- The Fig pizza was very sweet and a little less fig would be nice.Strawberry salad had strawberry and cucumbers in it that were slimy like they were sliced hours before the salad was made.The balsamic dressing that came with it didn't pair well with the salad. I asked for another dressing which was better with it.The Haddock that came with the fish and chips was very good. The fish was flaky and the batter was good. Two of us asked for rice instead of fries. The rice was the kind you that you just boil in a bag. We were also up charged an additional three dollars each. We were told by the staff that the owner was never there so that would explain a why things were so bad. It didn't even seem like anyone there was in charge. Beautiful venue with great views of CT River. We chose their outdoor patio for lunch, as it was a really nice day and this place did not disappoint. We shared the mussels appetizer which was ample and delicious in a thai coconut curry sauce that was excellent and was served with two wedges of focaccia for dipping. I had the pork tacos which were very good and flavorful, lots of tender, well seasoned pork and a yummy apple slaw which paired well with the pork. My friend had the fish and chips which were also really good and well prepared. All around great experience, great service and would go back in a heartbeat. LOVED this spot! Beautiful ambiance, right on the water, great for people watching. They didn't take reservations so we winged it on a Sunday and hoped for the best. Even though it was packed when we got there, there were plenty of picnic tables in the open field to sit and wait, enjoy the views - we even got a drink from the bar first so were able to enjoy that while we waited, and also played a game of corn hole! Love that they had that setup. Just fantastic! We went to Marker 37 with another couple and their children after they suggested it. It was a bit of a ride from where I live but so worth it! It's right on the water and so nice inside and out. They have a lot of seating outside with outside games for both the kiddos and adults. The service was also fabulous. Our server had a great sense of humor and he was very knowledgeable about the menu. We started with drinks and I got an herby fruity martini that was delish. I also got a gin martini with extra olives that was spectacular. I decided on the ahi tuna tacos for my meal which came with chips and guac and was full of flavor. This restaurant has the best view of the CT River It is next to the marina, so you get to check out all the boats and relax by the water. There is a beautiful, nautical themed restaurant area inside and then the patio area that extends from the indoor dining area out onto the grassy part next to the water with Adirondack chairs to sit and enjoy the view with a drink and companions. Upstairs is an event space that has its own deck overlooking the river. Everything is chic and has a feeling of newness. The cocktails are made very well, and they have a delectable menu of dishes that are perfect for the location. Seafood dishes as well as various burgers, flatbreads, and salads. The salmon burger was decent but not flavorful enough. The burger got rave reviews; however! The key lime pie for dessert was one of the best I've ever had. Enjoyed an early afternoon lunch on July 4th weekend. A spectacular day with awesome views and a great menu to choose from! Our party enjoyed some Ninigret oysters, the scallop casino app and the butternut squash salad to start as well as fish and chips and the short rib grill cheese. my daughter made reservation for outdoor seating for her birthday 2 weeks in advance. The reservation was for 10 people and we were told that we would have a table outside ready for us when we arrived. upon arrival we were informed that no party more than 6 people can be seated outdoors. This was not communicated to us when we made our reservation, we were told the opposite. After being seated inside we noticed our servers lack of hospitality. After already ordering drinks and appetizers our waiter told us that they were out of almost the entire menu (French fries, bacon, cheeses, their entire raw bar seafood and more). Due to this we left before ordering entrees and were shown no empathy by our waiter or the manager. They had only taken 8$ off of our 86$ check (included only drinks and 2 appetizers). While the food is good, the portions are measly for the price. That's mostly to be expected with this type of establishment, so order accordingly. Why the markdown to 3 stars? While the swarm of busboys and food runners provide exceptional and friendly service, the wait staff appears oblivious and uninterested in their guests. It easily took 10 minutes to put drink orders in and another 10 to make it to the table. A $13 glass of wine was delivered in a flimsy plastic cup. This would be fine if I was at a dive bar. Finally a glass of wine was delivered to me with no less than 5 flies in it. That only happens if there were purposely put in or the glass of wine was refused by a table and served to me hours later. Within 30 minutes the place was packed (they do not take reservations). Both times we tried the coconut shrimp and loved it. Coconut was flavorful and the shrimp were moist. Can't get a location better than this...right on CT river with magnificent views. Be prepared to wait on a weekend any time after 4pm, there is picnic tables by the river to sit and wait. Food is delicious and fresh tasting, service is usually on the slow side if seated outside and the host was less than enthused about her job. At times, we felt like a burden to the host. Went on a Wednesday night; the day was not great weather-wise and there was no crowd so we were seated right away in the "outdoor" area, which is totally enclosed. Our server was great and the food was fine - I had a special Buffalo beef-cavatappi dish and took half of it home. My 3-star rating regards the seating. Maybe it's better inside, but in the outdoor area the seats are very low in relation to table height and especially in relation to the windows. Once I sat down all I saw was sky! I'm about 5'5" and would have needed at least another six inches to have any view of the river. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a "riverside" restaurant, doesn't it? Other reviews mention a great view, but I had no view at all. Was tempted to ask for a pillow to sit on. Both the name and the prices lead one to expect a true riverside dining experience. the food was not worth the quality, but it was fine. my lobster mac and cheese was really just lobster on top of noodles with a little cheese sauce at the bottom. my roy roger's was more grenadine than coke. - their guacamole and salsa is not good. neither are the corn tortilla chips. - the buffalo wrap was average at best but honestly disappointing. our waitress was nice and polite, and always appeared when we seemed to need her, but didn't hover obsessively. the wait time for food was too long for what came out. the view is pretty dang good. especially when the lighting is good. they get a good expansive view of the river and the trees and greenery around it. there's covered outdoor seating, the interior space is small, so they try to make up for that outside. read more

We arrived at about 3:45 and although most tables were occupied outside, we were able to get a table. We wanted to relax with a cocktail and an appetizer and were not in any hurry. All of a sudden the hostess came to our table to inform us that there was a long line of people waiting for a table and we had been over the 2 hour limit and she wanted us to know. I almost expected her to hand us takeout containers to load up our food and leave! If we had known that, there was a two hour limit, we wouldn't have taken our time so leisurely. We thought the food the ambience was great and we certainly wouldn't hold this experience against the but feel that management needed to make that note people as they were entering the restaurant, by either placing a sign or verbally asking people to keep their at two hours. The for the two of us was $130, so it's not like we spend money to enjoy the afternoon. I would've given five stars if it wasn't for this glitch. First time visit on a Sunday afternoon and overall our experience was very satisfying. The food was top notch, as was the service. I can say there was a weird vibe initially, maybe due to the austere decor in the nearly empty bar (where we were waiting for our patio table) and super low volume music. It was strange and quiet. We would recommend the patio for sure! The staff seemed to be mostly college aged, blonde, and beautiful haha, but again, the service was excellent. The restaurant is next to a marina on the CT river, and there's navy polo shirts, khaki shorts and dock side shoes aplenty. The entire restaurant decor is boat themed, making it excellent atmosphere for mariners who enjoy fine dining. One caveat: the drink ware consists ENTIRELY of plastic cups (maybe a cheap attempt to keep in the "onboard" feel?) which was disappointing to me as a wine drinker, and kept me from giving 5 stars. Not sure if the dining room uses proper glassware, the bar does not. We had the oysters (only one variety offered but they were clean and delicious) as an app. For our main courses I chose the yellowfin tuna, my husband had the scallops. When I saw short ribs on the menu I knew that was it. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese sandwich which came beautifully prepared on sourdough bread, and the house made fried onions were a nice compliment to the short ribs. Then the first bite... am I in Heaven?? Just WOW! Never in my dreams have I had something so tender, the meat juices dripping out of the sides of the sandwich. This is a messy meal but worthy of every stain because it's that good! I'm going back again for this sandwich and hoping they never take it off the menu! You won't be disappointed. read more
