I've never had a meal that I didn't enjoy at Market Bistro. I am, however, perturbed at the service my party received earlier this evening. It was about 5:30 PM on a Friday when we arrived and we had expressed to the person who greeted us that our party of four intended to order drinks at the bar and stake out territory at the long high top table nearby it. We were told that was no problem. The restaurant was 3/4 empty, and the "Friday Night Rush", for a restaurant that's nowhere near the water, on a nice evening in the beginning of the Summer season, wasn't due to start until about 7:00-7:30 PM. One of us went over to the bar and began ordering drinks, while I was greeted by a server who stated, "Just so you guys know, this is a waiter service table" and then walked off. I get it. I was there once. It's incredibly annoying to have patrons sitting in your section who have ordered at the bar and are taking up a potential four top - but the restaurant was nearly empty and I would be bowled over if that was the only table assigned to her. That being said, we were ordering our second round of drinks when a surly hostess came over with menus and before speaking a word, inserted herself between chairs and moved our water glasses, mats, and a cellphone over while placing menus at the opposite end of the table. She then said, "So since this is a table we serve dinner at, we're seating a party of four next to you. You're more than welcome to take seats at the bar." Not only was that a. not the problem and b. STILL not the only empty seats in the restaurant, but it was totally not the way to handle the situation. Regardless, 4 stars for the food, the bartenders, and the restaurant's usual ambiance. However, an attitude such as the one we experienced from the hostess is incredibly misplaced in a restaurant that is otherwise exceptional. read more

Early December 2016. Friday at 5:00p. My wife and I stopped for a quick drink and meal here on our way to a concert at Space in Westbury. Made a reservation with Open Table and worked great. Place was crowded and table was ready. Pleasant attentive staff. Market Bistro is set way back in a strip mall. Cant even see it from Route 107, and the front façade blends in with the rest of the stores. Looks like nothing from the outside but upon entry it is a very hip cool space with long nice bar to the left. Food was excellent.. I had a burger and my wife a salmon dish. Drinks were great. But the best item, at the suggestion of the waitress, was the crispy brussel sprouts appetizer. They were outrageous. After our meal we had a half hour to burn so sat at the bar, which was crowded with a cool crowd. We cannot wait to return to Market Bistro. read more

Pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. Atmosphere was cozy and service good. The food was yummy. We both had the prix fix menu giving us three courses for $32. Quite a bargain. We had the market greens salad and mussels for appetizers, the cop au vin pot pie and veal tenderloin for entrees and the warm chocolate cake and apple crisp for dessert. The servings were generous and all was delicious. Will definitely return. Bravo. read more

Great Find! I have been working this Jericho/Hicksville location as one of my territories & the Doc who wanted me to buy lunch asked me to pick up some food at Market Bistro. So, I didn't know they opened up at 12:00 P.M. - but I still placed the order and came to pick up the food after. Their salads looked fresh and very delicious, however what I could totally state is that the Moules Frites is AWESOME! Funny enough, I accidentally ordered this dish reading the caption as chorizo with truffle fries I totally was wrong! I accidentally ordered Mussels w/ Truffle Fries sprinkled with chorizo in a white wine sauce. OMG - best mistake in my life! I haven't had mussels since maybe 10 years ago because I was never really a fan of them. Market Bistro has changed my mind! The mussels were AMAZING! I was given a very nice portion of mussels, chorizo, and truffle fries. I ate every last mussel, sausage, and fry I could find! As for the service, the younger gentleman taking my order was polite and I believe a lady who may have been the manager or owner was also very polite to me as well. When I came to pay - an older gentleman rang me up and asked if I needed utensils - which I would have never thought about until I got to my location. He too was very polite. Let me begin by saying that based on all the positive reviews, I was shocked how poorly we were treated. We sat at the bar and the bartender virtually ignored us right from the start. We had to keep asking for drinks and could hardly get his attention to order some appetizers. We decided to forego dinner orders because of the poor service. However, he seemed to enjoy his "regular customers". Since it was our first time perhaps he could have made suggestions at the least. read more

Ok people ... I try my best to give a good review and let us just say I was not only surprised but shocked by this place. I went here with my niece and her boyfriend. They inhaled the steaks, but then, they are always hungry. I got duck papardelle, a favorite of mine, and it was more than great. The duck was tender, the sugo tasty and the pasta was, well, surprisingly perfect. I am also a bread pudding fan, so I figured I would just try it. OH wow- I was in my happy place. Still great! The avocado bean dip was refreshing, the cheddar and grit tots delicious and the pork chop was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender at the same time. The strawberry rubarb dessert is a great option for something not as chocolately. Outside seating was really nice away from the noisy crowd and we weren't forgotten! read more

The bus boys were nicer than my waiter. I felt like I had to chase Dan down the entire time. I was trying to surprise my cousin for her birthday by NOT ordering the cake in front of her and the waiter came and put spoons before they brought out the cake therefore, spoiling it. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night and I can honestly say i had the best steak I've ever had. They cooked it the perfect temperature (medium rare) and the mash potatoes were thick and creamy just like how I like them. Our server was excellent and more then accommodating. We also met the manager Britney who came to see if our meal was ok (and also got us a table when we didn't have reservations) She was extremely friendly and easy to talk too. The superb American eclectic food with a world-cuisine twist, excellent service, and comfortable Manhattan-style (but roomier) decor is exactly what I would expect from a joint venture between the very popular West End Cafe owners and two members of the WEC's family who were clearly HUGE contributors to the success of that restaurant. Have been here a few times, and am always happy. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is tasty, but the desserts are excellent. Try the root beer float and the ice cream (especially the salted caramel ice cream)! I like that they use regional foods and therefore the menu changes seasonally. My duck was a tad salty one time, but every other dish I've ordered has been delicious. I absolutely recommend coming here for a nice evening out. read more

Went to visit a few weeks ago. Young hostess was a sweet heart and set me up at the bar. Food was awesome. Loved the look of the restaurant . Was not a fan of the female bartender to be nice. I have been coming to this place for close to 5 years now for lunch or dinner. the food is always great. I have never had a bad meal. Today four of us came for lunch, the salads were all great and the short rib grilled cheese sandwich was unbelievable. Stumbled upon this restaurant while shopping in the strip that it is located in. The food was delicious and the decor was perfect..not too over the top like some new LI places. I had the risotto and my husband had the steak. We had a salad too that was good. We don't go out that often, but when we do I like to go to places like this. Went for lunch and had a terrific salad with a nice glass of wine. Fresh ingredients and a relaxing lunchtime atmosphere will make this a go to place for me. Everything on the menu is fresh and local and delicious! They do not freeze anything. Great selection from the bar - even the freshly made bar chips. The tastiest salads, entrees and desserts. So. Where to begin... Had lunch today with my wife and an old friend. Our friend is from Puerto Rico and every time she visits insists on a visit to Market Bistro. We had the mussels to start, that were perhaps the best I've ever had. Then had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. This may sound as if it might be over the top. But it was absolutely delicious. Just the perfect amount of short rib. With delicious cheddar, arugula and pickled onions. It was heaven in a sandwich. They hit this one out of the park. My only question.. What took so long?! The atmosphere at Market Bistro is definitely upbeat and electric. The food and service on the other hand leave a lot to be desired. The wait staff seemed to be very unorganized and inattentive to my requests. I asked for the octopus salad which was tasty but where was the octopus. The salad came with one piece of octopus no larger than my pinkie finger. I am sure they can afford to do better especially after the price that they charge for the salad. My main course was a tasteless chicken dish. Maybe I caught them on a bad night. I am not sure that I would return. read more

Six of us went for a birthday. Everything was delicious. Highlights were the beet salad and short ribs. they were very accomodating in terms of switching the sides and our group did a lot of mixing and matching. The service was good. Only problem is it is very loud. read more

Finally, an elegant place neighborhood restaurant with a bustling bar scene! Love the atmosphere here, looks like it could easily be transplanted to Manhattan. Went on a Tuesday night around 9pm and the place was packed, which totally surprised me given that this town goes to bed early on weekdays. I'm a huge fan of small plates, so Market Bistro doesn't disappoint. Had the figs wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with balsamic, yum! Also had the duck gnocchi, this was good but I'll probably order something different next time. They have a great selection of craft beers on draft, and also a nice selection of wines by the glass. I am BLOWN AWAY! i was driving past MARKET BISTRO tonight on my way home from work. It looked really interesting with the flames outside so i jumped out of my car just to "peek" in. It looked good, really kinda cool. i thought hhhmmm i think I want to try this place. I came home and decided to look it up on line, THEN i was blown away. Reading the reviews I noticed something I had NEVER seen before, ever. The owner Adam was answering reviews. He was obviously reading posts and replying and taking an active interest in his establishment. I was SO IMPRESSED. I have never seen that before and my husband and I eat out everywhere, all the time. I was really happy to see that. It means he cares about what his customers think. Finally, a serious business owner who really gives a hoot about his customers and what they think. An owner who understands the concept of putting the customer first. These are the good old fashioned values that are missing so often these days in ALL types of businesses. I think its not all about FLUFF and obnoxious , all about me, take my selfie attitudes with this guy. He has restored my faith in better business practices. I've never been to market bistro and of course never met Adam but I can tell you, I WILL be coming in soon and looking forward to a really nice evening with my husband and probably a couple of our friends. Very disappointment from the beginning. The waitress that blocked our table from being sat was less than pleasant as she blocked our seats. She was then our under enthusiastic waitress. Food services was slow and then they rushed us to finish to be clear the table. To the point that the sides were removed before they were finished. Tea was taken away before it was gone and a refill was not offered. After questioning the bus boy he said there were people waiting for the table. The manager offered no concern neither did the hostess and she said the arrange for a 2 hour seating...Needless to say the place doesn't warrant a revisit. read more

Been going to Market Bistro for over 2 years. Always packed. Food is always fresh and everything on the menu is always excellent. Best Burgers anywhere. The staff is beyond good. Very little turnover in staff. That is the mark of a good place. Always busy. Great Bar. Excellent bar tenders. They make everyone feel like they belong, and that they are regulars. Adam (owner) is always there making sure that all goes smoothly. He really cares about his customers. That is why everyone comes back. The food is very good but the hostess and the bartender are awful. The tables are also too close together, so much so that you can easily listen to your neighbors conversations or vice versa. So impressed with this place. Ate here with my husband, kids and nephew (aged 11-14) on a Saturday evening that had the restaurant full by 6;30. The food was really good. Especially delicious were the fish special, shrimp risotto, spring veg ravioli and skirt steak. But what really set this place apart was the service. Waitress had such a nice disposition and offered to split our kids' dishes in the kitchen that they were sharing, brought rock candy that is served in the cappucino for all the kids, but most impressive was when we asked if the mango sorbet was for sale (seriously the best mango sorbet we ever tasted), the manager (?) came out and told us he was sorry he couldn't sell us any because they needed it for a party the next day, but gave us a small portion to take home, on the house!
