My mom and I would split a cilantro lime chicken salad, a cup of tomato soup, some bread and lemon waters before shopping. For nostalgia, and since the Stoneridge Nordstrom shut down, we came here on a Saturday afternoon to relive that memory. They still have the salad I've been raving about for years... Clam Chowder (4/5): Yummy and chunky! Roma Tomato Soup (3.5/5): Not as sweet as I remember + smooth and no chunks. I've always liked the bread they give with the soup though. Cilantro Lime Chicken Salad (5/5): This still has the same flavor and it hits every time. Chicken is different but the dressing + cheese is my favorite. Santa Fe Panini (3.5/5): Alright, didn't have the most flavor so I ended up dipping it in the tomato soup. Ask for bread for the table and it's free - Their butter is so fragrant! Order up front before grabbing your table. The service is also as amazing as ever. Everybody working is very kind and attentive. Didn't realize there is server service when we ordered but the tips go to that server so now we know when we pay first! Got the Salmon Niçoise salad and it was good. The crust on the salmon was a little too salty but the Dijon dressing and baked fingerling potatoes were good. My friend had their breakfast sandwich and commented that the bread was super soft and delicious. Happy to know there is a good place to eat within Nordstrom. A totally dependable choice for dining while at the Broadway Plaza shopping center, Marketplace Cafe at Nordstroms can be found on the 3rd floor. Lots of seating inside, which was pretty full of Christmas shoppers because it was too chilly to eat out on the patio. You can grab a menu at the station at the entrance. Or use the QR code to view it on your phone, except for the specials menu. Order at the counter, take a number, and they bring the food to your table. The specials on my visit included a wine flight, spiced apple sangria, and a ribeye steak. Good variety, which is necessary to be a crowd pleaser at the mall: soups and starters, salads, pizza, pasta, entrees and sandwiches. I ordered a cilantro lime signature salad, which comes with baby greens, jack cheese, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, tortilla crisps and a cilantro lime vinaigrette. I got it with salmon, which brought the price to a reasonable $21. Delicious dressing. Not the best piece of Alaskan Sockeye I've ever had, but this was a quick lunch at the mall. The good: WC Nordstrom hasn't closed like many other stores and still offer a cafe! Prices have doubled like everything else these days but still, a nice place to stop after shopping for a glass of wine and a bite. Miss the old days of beautiful soft music and great service. The music now is loud and off-putting. This cafe, with its nice views inside & out, used to be crowded at lunch--very few customers today. The clam chowder we ordered was thick and gluey, hardly any clams or clam flavor. It was served with a thin slice of stale baguette. We did not receive a water refill, or a thank you when our server placed the receipt on our table bare & curled up (used to be in a little booklet) at the end of our meal. It sits on the top floor and has a beautiful outdoor seating, we chose to sit indoors though as it was evening and a little chilly. We were at the in-between time between lunch and dinner so decided to do a mix of things. Our order was 1. Spinach Artichoke dip- served with warm pita (4/5) 2. Margherita pizza (3/5) 3. Mushroom ravioli (4/5) The food was warm and well presented. Good size shareable portions as well. The staff was nice. You have to place the order at the entrance and then find a seating yourself. Beautiful large café with a Nordstrom. Well located. It's hard to even tell him in the store. Excellent service. One of the managers came up and assured us and reassured us. My friend ordered: The salmon Presentation was amazing. Order at the counter pay for it ahead of time and sit at the seats for service. They have a check down on us a couple times afterwards, even though it was a counter order area. My other friend ordered a coffee. It's just a really nice café to hang out with Darden chat. There's a lovely balcony area with plenty of seating as well. Unfortunately, it was raining. Otherwise, we would've been able to go out there easily. Highly recommend. read more

Love Nordstroms cafe! Since the Pleasanton Nordstrom's closed down, you only choices for their cafe in the bay area without going into San Francisco are Walnut Creek, Stanford, and Valley Fair. My kids love the mac n cheese here. I'd have to agree that it is one of the best ones out there when comparing it with Panera, Red Robin, or even Boston Market's. Kids meals come with a fruit cup and a drink. The chicken fingers meal came with 3 pieces, a side of green beans, and roasted potatoes. They actually don't serve french fries. The Cilantro lime salad is one of our favorites. It's made fresh and the dressing is amazing. I've had the French dip, double cheeseburger, and most recently, their turkey, bacon, avocado club sandwich. The latter is my new favorite here! There was a generous amount of avocado and turkey in freshly toasted bread. The side salad with ranch really completed the meal! You pay up front at the time of ordering, find a table, and they will bring your food out to your table. The dining experience and food here is always consistently good! read more

I'm sure most of the people using Yelp don't remember when stores had restaurants in them. It used to be part of the experience. I can even remember when Kmart's had restaurants in them. So to say that the fact that Nordstrom's is still holding strong with the old school sit down restaurant is pretty nostalgic and a unique thing to do these days. The food was pretty good. Seemed slightly pre made but good. Its a great idea to have a café in a nice store. I was famished while shopping with my daughter and was very happy to come in and sit down to get a drink and a bite to eat. You order at the counter then find your seat. I would have loved to sit outside but it was pouring down rain. My daughter got the Turkey Club and I got a cup of Chicken and Rice soup. My daughter really liked her Turkey Club. The bacon was a bit too leathery for me but she didn't seem to mind. She got it with a side of home made chips. Which she loved. The soup was good. The rice was in a big ball on top of the cup. I don't eat carbs so I scooped it out and put it on the toast it came with. For the soup portion, it was pretty good. Service was prompt and the restaurant is very clean. I was really surprised how great this place was! It was actually in the Nordstroms, so if you're shopping you have a place to stop and eat. This is a place I would go even without shopping. It was a great place for a meeting or to go to lunch with friends! You order at the front, then a waiter comes to your table to serve you. The food was quick and super delicious! We had the burrata appetizer (this is a MUST have!) and the margarita pizza- both delicious! The service was friendly and efficient! It is attached to a mall so there is plenty of parking. I've been a long time fan of the cafe's in Nordstrom. They are always a good lunch spot. The soups are always flavorful and hot. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and the green goddess salad. What a lovely place to have a lunch on a rooftop and in the open air! Son and I went for lunch and it was awesome. After they check your vaccination cards, you order at the counter what you would like and then sit at the table of your choice. We found a great corner table outside. The weather was nice, the vibe was chill and we felt happy. Our waiter was super kind and brought out our food quickly. Son got the margarita pizza which he loved. I got the little gem salad, a cheddar and chive biscuit, and a cup of coffee. Coffee is refilled for free also! Bingo! Everything tasted great and had a great presentation. My coworkers and I would go to the Pleasanton location (in Stoneridge mall) for lunch all the time, but sadly they closed! I was in the area for an appointment, and was excited to learn that they had a cafe at this location! They even have outdoor rooftop seating. I got the Southwest chicken panini (comes with a side of chips) and my husband got the gnocchi--both were flavorful and just as yummy as I remember them to be! This place is such a solid choice for lunch when shopping in Walnut Creek. It's on the second floor of Nordstrom, which is very convenient! There's rarely a wait, and you can order right away. I love the whole idea of ordering and paying, then eating and being able to leave whenever afterward. It's a no frills-restaurant in terms of decoration, but that's no problem for me. I always order a cup of tomato soup and a shrimp arugula salad. The tomato soup is such a classic - it's perfectly tart and creamy and goes well with the little cheese crostata that they serve alongside it. The shrimp salad is delicious as well. I always get dressing on the side, as it can be a little much for me, but that's probably just my preference. I particularly love the polenta croutons on top, yum! My family members always order the skirt steak which is always mouth wateringly tender. My mom and I stopped by for lunch after some afternoon shopping at Broadway Plaza and we honestly weren't expecting much from this place. We thought at best we would be served Panera-tier food. Boy were we wrong and I'm actually glad we were wrong because the food here SLAPS!!! FYI the restaurant is located on the top floor of Nordstrom. There's no sign outside of Nordstrom that indicates that Marketplace Cafe is in there. We ordered a cup of the clam chowder and the santa fe chicken panini and we were blown away by how good both these dishes were. The clam chowder was honestly better than the ones from Pier 39 in San Francisco. It actually might've been one of the best clam chowders I have ever tried. They don't skimp out on the clams like other restaurants do! The panini was super good and fulfilled our cravings and even the side salad it came with was on point. If you're looking for a quick lunch or if you're a regular at restaurants like panera or boudin, you will absolutely love Marketplace Cafe because it's 10x better in my opinion! yummy in your tummy :) read more

This place is a regular lunch spot for me when I find myself in Walnut Creek. Although it's always been good, I was stunned the other day by a menu item that I thought would just be ok. When you see a burger on a menu anywhere short of a steak house, you don't really give it much thought. A burger is a burger. You don't expect it to really stand out from anything else on the menu. Evidence of this is that I have no photo of it. I didn't take a photo because it was just a burger. We all know what burgers look like. When I got this burger, I was caught off-guard by the artisinal bun and two thick patties. The patty thickness shot me back to the 80s when my mom would make these massively thick patties that were so thick that they were kind of dry and hard to swallow (sorry mom). When I took a bite of this burger, I tasted flavors never before tasted on a burger. I was like, "WTF did they put on this thing!" I was so surprised! This might be one of the best burgers I've ever had in my whole life. I can't believe it was just sitting there hiding on the sandwich part of the menu. This burger NEEDS to be highlighted! Do yourself a favor and order this thing. Or better yet, maybe you shouldn't. Because if you do, you may be disappointed at pretty much any other burger you ever have. read more

Only after I asked what's the process here did I receive limited assistance. We ordered food and the receipt requested tip fill-in - I was like "what am I tipping for, ordering food?? I thought I was being nice and added $5.00 to a $50.00 tab. Once we found our seat we realized the service person would now be serving us. Fantastic! now she see's the Cheap ass $5.00 tip as she grabs the order receipt and I'm sure she's like " omg what a jerk". Shame on management for allowing this to take place for the hardworking service people and put me in the now uncomfortable position. However the kitchen is the staff that needs replacing now as the food is old and improperly prepared from the days of yore. I had never eaten here before a few months ago when I was having the salmon which was excellent. Today I have to preface the story with something. The current reigning champion for clam chowder in the entire Bay area is and has really always been John's Grill in the city. My cup of clam chowder in the Nordstrom cafe was equal to that. That is, I don't think it is possible to get a better clam chowder anywhere. Truly phenomenal. I paired that with their cheese biscuit. While a small extra cost, the thing is gigantic and very delicious. The side salad was extremely well presented with several halves of small heirloom tomatoes. Finished with a fountain drink, properly served in a glass. The total meal was just a touch more than a delivered sushi roll that I usually get at my office. If you want to upgrade to filet or salmon, it is among the best values in town. I don't think I'm going to come anywhere else for lunch in Walnut Creek from now on. read more

This place provides the perfect lunch with a view. You can enjoy the beautiful views of both Mount Diablo and downtown Walnut Creek and beyond, all while enjoying amazing food. I ordered a chicken a panini, and it came with a side salad. The salad salad was small, and even though it came pre-dressed it wasn't overdressed. The salad may have been small, but in my opinion it is actually the perfect size.The panini was out of this world. The chicken had chipotle seasoning on it, which added a delicious kick to it. The melted mozzarella was gooey enough to make cheese fans squeal, and I'm a huge fan of the roasted red peppers. The sandwich as a whole was beyond delicious. Even the bread was super buttery and tasty. The service is great. Everyone, from the girls working behind the register, to the actual servers running the food. Maddy was our server for lunch, and she was great. She kept an eye on us, making sure our drinks were full, and our food was tasty. She did this all with a huge smile plastered on her face. I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad and DD got her butter and noodles. My salad was perfect dressed, veggies chilled, and all the wonton strips and chips were nice and crispy. Can't ask for more. DD's noodles were different. It looked more like Chinese egg noodles. It lacked flavor. We asked for more butter and cheese. Still not the greatest. read more
