Crispy Chicken - Side, Kitava Fries
    Nicole D.

3.75/5 I was super excited for a gluten free restaurant in the area! I've never had Kitava before so wasn't sure what to expect. Ordered at the kiosk which was easy! Food came out pretty quickly. We ordered hibiscus cooler, chicken nuggets, fries, watermelon salad and the carrot ginger soup. Chicken and fries were really good and so crispy! Ketchup was a bit odd tasting. The watermelon salad was great and so refreshing. The hibiscus cooler was very watered down and had no flavor. Looked a bit different than the picture on the kiosk. The carrot ginger soup didn't look like the kiosk photo at all and was a completely different color. It had a lot of texture and was really overpowering. I'd like to come back and try a bowl or salad! There are no servers so I can't make many comments on that, but they got the food out quick. Restaurant was very clean and we sat outside under the umbrellas. Parking was fairly easy- lots of street parking.

So EXCITED to have Kitava in town. It is so conveniently located. Walking distance from the offices, target, BART, and right next door to Starbucks. As someone with celiac, I'm so happy to have Kitava nearby. So many wonderful options. From brunch, to lunch, to desserts ... just amazing. Please stop by and check them out.

I love the food here!!! It's like the fancy version of the hot food bar at Whole foods grocery stores but way better. I had the new Chipotle protein meal with fingerling potatoes and a fresca. Everything had flavor and was light, fresh and tasty. The avocado goddess sauce is my favorite, the base is greek yogurt .

This is the third restaurant to occupy this space in 4ish years. The previous 2 were delicious but pricey. The new spot is just pricey. Nothing special at all about this $18 (with tax) tiny chicken bowl. The portion is pathetic but I could get over that if the flavor was anything more than decent. I don't know how you open a place like this and expect it to last there is zero value here. I really don't get how you screw it up so bad in 2026 where so many great places exist. Portions need to be bigger or taste better... Highly recommend just going to Panda Express over this

Ordered the Burrito Bowl, Watermelon side salad and a Green Smoothie! Food is super good and fresh, recommend coming here for a healthy flavorful meal

4/5 - Tasty but light on protein Really good food, but don't come here expecting to feel full. The salmon add-on was literally the size of my finger for $9+ -- not worth it. Great flavors overall, but the protein portions just aren't there for the price. Perfect for a light bite, but you'll likely need to eat more at home.

Their year-round menu is lacking, and their lychee drink does not hold up to other new matcha store openings. From the moment you step inside, there is an unmistakable warmth to the space not just from the ovens but from the overall vibe. It is bright, upbeat, and welcoming in a way that immediately puts you at ease and sets the tone for a great experience. We started with the Pop Tarts which deserve special recognition. These are not novelty pastries. They are elevated, flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor. The kind of treat that makes you pause mid bite and immediately realize this place takes its craft seriously. The breakfast burrito was equally impressive. Hearty, well balanced, and comforting without being heavy, it was clearly made with intention and quality ingredients rather than shortcuts. The waffles with blueberries and whipped cream were outstanding. Crisp on the outside and soft and airy on the inside, with fresh blueberries that added brightness and a whipped cream that felt light and indulgent rather than overly sweet. It was the kind of dish that manages to feel nostalgic and refined at the same time. Then came the pastries. Any attempt at restraint disappeared quickly. Everything in the case looked incredible and after tasting the first few items it became obvious that passing on anything would have been a mistake. We ended up buying far more pastries than planned simply because the quality across the board was that high. There were no weak links. What truly elevates Life Is Sweet beyond excellent food is the energy of the place. There is a positivity that fills the room and it is completely effortless. It makes you want to slow down, sit longer, and enjoy where you are. Whether you are stopping in for a quick breakfast or lingering with coffee and conversation, the environment naturally lifts your mood. Life Is Sweet is not just a bakery or breakfast spot. It is a place that genuinely enhances your day. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is inviting, and the experience stays with you well after you leave. This is a must visit in Danville and the kind of place you will find yourself thinking about long after the last pastry is gone.
