Mark's East Side is one of the better "supper clubs" in the area. Mark is right there working with his staff to make sure everything is right. I had the tenderloin steak. It was wonderful. The presentation was very nice. I like their bacon dressing. Good home-made "multi-seeded" bread on the side. Very nice waitress. Good service. I liked the little salty snacks at the bar. One of my favorite places to eat!! Being that they have German cuisine, I wonder if they would ever serve hot German potato salad. read more

When in for a Friday fish fry. It was our first time there. Food was impeccable. Great deal for all you can eat haddock. Waitstaff was unbelievable! Our waitress was Jessica and she was phenomenal! Only complaint is that the bar service was just okay. We had late dinner and the place was not too crowded but it took a significant amount of time for the male bartender to even acknowledge us. He was too busy talking or washing bottles. When he finally took our order he had a attitude as if he was annoyed. After talking with a friend of ours who recommended this place he noted the similar previous issue with this bartender. If you take out the bar service this would easily be five stars. Will check out again sometime soon hoping this bartender is having a better night then. read more

Came to Wisconsin on a business trip and our host decided to dine at Marks for our first dinner. The ambiance was really nice and the staff was quick and professional. The food, German and American, was all very well presented, quick to the table, and tasted amazing!! We had a really good time and am looking forward to returning to Wisconsin and dining here again. read more

This review is way overdue . I've been eating at Marks for over two years now and I can honestly say I've never had a bad dinner here . When I started going to Marks , I lived in Oconto, 60 miles away , one way . That tells you how good the food , drinks and atmosphere is there . Now living in Suamico , I'm closer :) . I'm there twice a month for the Friday night fish fry. I always get the AYCE Icelandic batter fried haddock along with breaded mushrooms .... the best I've ever had . Is this place busy ? Unbelievably so , so get there early , like right at 5 . Are the drinks any good ? They're beyond good , not soda watered down mixers elsewhere , your getting your money's worth here . Is the service any good ? No complaints here , the staff is always friendly and attentive, going over the specials and checking to see if your content with your dinner . Some people like to try different restaurants , I'm the kind that when I find a sure thing , I stick with it and I'll stick with Marks . To Mark and staff , keep up the excellent work , you've got this customer for a long long time !!! read more

We were there on a Friday night, had the fish special and the scallops, both were very good. The scallops were actually pretty amazing. Service was so-so, but they were busy so you can give them a bit of a pass. I struggled with how to rate it, we didn't leave felling we loved it, but also there was nothing bad. It's a Wisconsin supper club, so if you're one of these cats that are all into that, and it seems like a lot of people are these days, you'll like it. read more

Service was very poor tonight. Waitress didn't tell us about soup choices or specials. Long wait for drinks, meal and bill. Never asked if we would like another drink. Cleared plates 10 minutes after we were done eating, brought bill 10 minutes later and never came back, had to go to hostess area to pay. Hostess showed very little care about our complaints and we left feeling let down and disappointed.The hostess is the last person to clear up the issue and the one to make things right however she didn't give a crap about what happen. Mark's provided a perfect ending to a perfect day. We were visiting friends for the weekend (we used to live in Appleton), and spent the day at Central Waters Brewery in Amherst (another five-star experience!). We were looking for a great Brandy Old Fashioned, authentic German food, and a relaxed dining experience. We found all of it at Mark's East Side! My tenderloin stroganoff over spaetzl was superb, the deep-fried sauerkraut balls were a tasty treat, as were the deep-fried cheese curds (with such a good marinara for dipping!). The wedge salad was a real throwback. Delicious! My husband had the crab cakes, and he was very happy with them. Our friends had more traditional German fare (schnitzel and sauerbraten?), and had to take most of their food home because the portions were so large. Best of all was our server, Andrea, a Chicago-area native, who attended to our every need and (because we were there later in the evening on a Saturday night) took the time to chat with us about Chicago "food landmarks." She was an absolute delight! This was only our second time at Mark's (our friends have been there often), and we'll definitely be back. Great job! read more

We were on our way home to Chicago from Green Bay and found Mark's East Side on yelp. I was craving a brat and sauerkraut being in WI and this place blew my cravings away! Sauerkraut balls are a MUST and free thanks to the Yelp ad! French onion soup is the best we've ever had. I had the sausage platter and my husband had the sauerbraten - both out of this world! We ate at the bar - great atmosphere - lots of fun and the bartender Karen was amazing! It was 4 miles off the highway but definitely worth the trip!! read more

What an exceptional dining experience! Great ambiance, very reasonable prices, and the Jagerschnitsel, spaetzle, and red cabbage are the best I've had outside Germany! Service was outstanding! Nice place, food not the best, I had shrimp scampi. Shrimp was tough (undercooked?) and couldn't find the scampi. I have eaten a LOT of walleye and have never tasted any like what my wife had. Anyway, the french onion soup was very good! Over all, I think it was a $$$ restaurant with $$ food. read more

Just had dinner tonight (New Years Eve). We were with a party of 14 and the service and food was absolutely outstanding. The service was absolutely great, very attentive waitresses, Casey was phenomenal. The owner came out and talked with our party for several minutes to check and make sure everyone was satisfied. That's a great sign when the owner is at the front of the house mingling with customers!!!! That way he knows of any problems!!! By the way, we came here 3 years ago with a party of 12 on NYE and we had the same awesome experience. I would recommend Marks Eastside without hesitation!!! read more

Three people in our group. According to the hostess a "very busy Tuesday night"-- except that there were no lines, no waiting and numerous tables remained OPEN..not very busy in my opinion. When ordering, the kitchen was out of an item (not daily special) on the regular menu (before 6:30?) We waited over an HOUR, while other larger 4+ customers per table were being waited served. Very very slow service--kitchen messed up order?? When we asked our server what the problem was she said the kitchen must have lost or not completed our order.Not sure how that can happen with a top-of-the line Micros POS system. Maybe they should have installed a Serving Success POS system instead. When our food arrived it was not hot ...food needs to be made and served at the appropriate temperature (right City of Appleton Health Dept?.) . The speatzel was warm and the meat was cold. It tasted good, but everything tastes better when you have been starved at ANY restaurant! The manager came out and apologized and said that she would adjust our bill. When the bill arrived she had done what she said---gave us 50%. Customer's beware --don't go to this restaurant when there is more than the employee's cars in the parking lot!! read more

This was a disappointing experience. Had reservations at 7pm, but arrived at 6:15. We had a drink in the bar which had no seating left, and the old fashioneds were made from pre mix. They were not bad, just not what you would expect from an established supper club. We did have the sausage platter appetizer which was really good, but it was now 7pm and we were not seated per our reservation. We asked the waitress if we were going yo have to wait any longer and she told us they were right on schedule. At 7:20, we had no update and the people in the bar next to us were unhappy that they were not seated yet and wondered how much longer they would have to wait. At this point we decided to leave and turned our "number" back in to the hostess who scowled at us and said that its only been 20 minutes. It was unfortunate as we were really looking forward to the German food. Sorry to say that we won't visit again. read more

Marks spoiled our 35th anniversary. We started with a nice evening, ordering prime rib and lobster tail. I don't know whether our waitress was new or whatever. However, our food was served, and it was all good. However, my husband saved a large portion of the best cut (the eye) of his prime rib, hoping to have nice sandwiches later. When we'd finished our meal we ordered desserts to go. We waited for our "to go" items and then the waitress said, "Oh, we accidentaly threw out your prime rib." I'll bring another one for you to take to go.. Well, the "the other one" was delivered to our table by the manager and turned out to be a much much smaller amount of prime rib rib with fat and not at all comparable with the first -- not half as nice of cut in my estimation, .and not at all on the par with the first one ordered. This was not at all okay with me. My husband, not wanting to make a scene, said he was okay; however, I didn't feel that way at all and got up and left the restaurant. We'd had a wonderful evening together up to that point, but I drove home alone feeling "taken" and upset for what we'd spent on a special evening - so typical, when I wanted to think of Mark's as beyond that ordinary restaurant type of thing. When my husband got home (he'd gotten a ride on his own) he came in with the "take home" order - lousy prime rib and all. I threw it all in the garbage because that is how I feel about Mark's at this point. They used to be a place where I could expect good one-on -one service, but no longer sad to say. read more
