Stopped by this local gem based on the reviews. Marlow's did not disappoint. We split a chopped salad and the Margherita pizza with added local mushrooms. Pricey but excellent quality. We ate every bite and it was delicious. Service was excellent also. Cute little strip mall also housed a brew house which looked interesting. I will say the Marlow vibe seemed better suited to lunchtime. Not really a dinner destination unless you want something super casual, but definitely consider takeout for dinner! read more

The pizza was incredible - super flavorful, and the lilikoi butter is a great touch that adds a unique flavor. The meatballs were HUGE, which makes sense given the price, but we weren't expecting how large they'd be. The salad was good, but not extraordinary. We will definitely be back to get more pizza, and to try eating inside. The ambiance is super cute and modern, but it's a fairly small place. Protip: The restaurant is small and popular, so try to make a reservation or expect a wait. You're allowed to get half scoops of the ice cream flavors which is SO generous. Highlights: The food was amazing as was the service. The star of the show was definitely the Braised Pork Red Pie because of the lilikoi butter mixed with the braised pork. It rivals being the best pizza I've ever had. I enjoyed the cappuccino gelato the best, but the olive oil was really interesting too. The restaurant itself is also beautiful and well-decorated. I'd return here in a heartbeat. Lowlights: The burrata was a complete disappointment as it was truly just flavorless cannellini beans with some burrata on the side. Who flies to Maui just for pizza and gelato?!? I do!!! Although this place is in upcountry, it is WORTH the drive! Hubby and I decided to plan a day trip. This was our last stop before we went home. Ambiance: it's a modern pizza shop with a beautiful view! It's a great place for a date night! Food: The pizzas are made fresh and are ohh so delish! We ended up buying extra to hand carry home to Oahu with us! Yum!! Besides the pizzas, you MUST have the olive oil gelato. I know it sounds weird, but the olive oil actually makes it more creamy!! This place serves Neapolitan pizza (TLDR it's charred and lighter on sauce), REALLY good Neapolitan pizza. In fact, if this were most other pizza places, I'd give it 3 stars. It's bouyed by just how incredible the pizza is! However, there are two big negaives for me: 1) The prices. They are very, very high. 2) The brewery ordering setup. I walked in here and they told me if I wanted to order food for the brewery I had to use the app. The app has a mandatory fee. Pretty silly that I can't just order at the counter and go sit in the brewery. This is made more problematic by the fact that this is some of the only outside food that is even allowed in the brewery. The pizza though, is inventive, unique, delicious, and perfectly crisped. Knock a few bucks off and allow people to order at the brewery without fees and it would be an easy 5-star! Would give 4.5 stars if possible. The place has a nice vibe. Even at 8pm, the outdoor area was unfortunately full (would've been about 30 min wait). It's upcountry/inland, and seemed like people there were not tourists. The pizzas came out piping hot. The Margherita pizza was one of the best we've ever had. Thin, crisp, sunburnt, and very flavorful. I think the sauce was the star, it had a lot of flavor. The Funghi pizza was also really good but wasn't as flavorful as the Margherita, and not as crisp due to all the toppings. They used a unique sort of mushroom which was nice, just could've used less cheese or different type of cheese perhaps. Glad we tried the olive oil gelato, it was unlike anything we've tried before. Technically it wasn't a gelato, but a very very smooth/creamy ice cream. You can't really taste the olive oil in the ice cream itself, it's more of a fior di latte with additional subtle flavors. We got the toppings on the side and drizzled on the plate, which was good. The fennel pollen was so unique and added a really nice flavor. The coarse salt though is just quite unnecessary and some bites had too much. But it was great and would definitely have it again, along with a couple Margherita pizzas! read more

We ordered food to go, the wait time said 6pm, it got to be 6:20pm so I checked in and the food was sitting on the counter cold. I never got a text to say it was ready. When I asked if I should have gotten a text they said yes, I let them know it's been 20mins since the original wait time and that was that. I left with my cold food... Marlow is Maui's newest pizzeria, specializing in sour dough crusts.  Opened by chef and owner, Jeff Scheer, formerly of the now-shuttered Mill House, in August 2021.  According to an article in the local paper, what started out as a small venture selling pizzas to friends and family blossomed into the brick & mortar biz you see today.   ATMOSPHERE: Located in a new wing of Pukalani's Kulamalu Town Center, the corner eatery is cozy, modern and chic but very noisy and echoey.  Countertop seating offers front row seats to their open kitchen with a modern wood-burning pizza oven.  A tiny lanai sports a few outdoor seats.   MENU: Beer, sparkling & still wines, salads, pizza, gelato.   FOOD: Burrata - $16.00 Very refreshing.  A bit pricey but the cheese was velvety smooth and the tomatoes very fresh in taste and color.   Meatball En Sugo - $15.00 (2pcs,) Sugo translates to sauce, so you have meatballs & sauce!  The two jumbo jawbreaker-sized polpettas were insanely juicy and airy with a perfectly-balanced tomato sauce and chewy sourdough slice to the side.  Another pricey item but worth trying if you're a meatball fan.   Calabrese - $25.00 The salami was nice and salty - my vice for a pizza topping and went well with the mildly-sweet marinara sauce.  The crust is what I was excited to try and it did not disappoint.  If you're not into chewy crusts this isn't the place for you.  Unlike others' experiences, our crust wasn't burnt to the point of being inedible, though there were a few spots here and there of char.   Funghi - $24.00 Their white pizzas have no sauce on it, so be forewarned. I'm a sauce kind of guy but really liked it as the whole clove garlic confit and cheese made up for its absence. The chunky oyster mushrooms had an ascending earthy-flavor akin to truffle oil which I normally can't palate but here, it worked.   DESSERT: Olive Oil Gelato - $7.00 The spouse and I were totally flabbergasted as to what this flavor could be. Our server told us it tastes like vanilla and is her favorite, so we went for it. Served in small tumbler glasses, It was white in color and tasted like butterscotch. Very good.   Pistachio Gelato - $7.00 My choice. There were no visible chunks of pistachio in it but the flavor was there. Silky smooth and ultra creamy. Excellent recipes!   SERVICE: Here's the reason why this isn't a 5-star review. The sole host was taking care of the dine-in line, pick up line and table-plating duties. It took about 25 minutes from walk-up to being seated, with a second check to make sure they didn't forget about us as my phone didn't ring as promised. Once seated, no one came to our table for 15 minutes until a worker in the kitchen noticed us and gave one of the two servers a nudge. Our female server was friendly and knowledgeable, but even as the crowds died down, there was no follow-up service until the very end of the meal. Instead of checks being presented so you can look at the charges, they approach with a wireless credit card machine in-hand and ask for payment, similar to European-style dining. While it saves time, it's very uncomfortable to just hand over your card not knowing if the charges are correct and selecting a gratuity with the server staring you down. No receipt was printed from the device as the feature wasn't working so I had to ask for one which she fetched from another station. OVERALL: Nice, simple menu. Good pizza. The quality of their pizza dough isn't as good as when they first opened but this happens to pretty much every single restaurant that gets popular and has difficulty keeping up. Still great pizza. Servers are still friendly and working hard so just have some patience and grace while you sit there waiting. Ambiance is about as "fancy" as it gets in this area, so I'm grateful. I still enjoy eating here but have reset my pizza expectations. read more

Tucked away in the KulaMalu area is Marlow. On par as far as trendy restaurants go: open kitchen, open dining concept. Mixture of bright white and dark, marble tones. Ever since I had this fantastic Spanish octopus in the mainland, I'm always on a quest to find it. I noticed Marlow had it on their menu, so I convinced the hubby to go (he loves pizza, so this worked out for both of us!) We arrived about an hour after opening and there were a few tables open, along with the "bar" area and outside. They've got "red" (sauce) pizzas and "white" (sauce) pizzas. Our server was quite nice, helpful but not too overbearing. She mentioned the white sauce is a sort of truffle béchamel. We opted for 2 red sauce pizzas: Margherita and Salciccia (the one with caramelized onions and sausage). I, of course, also ordered the wood-fired octopus salad. Verdict: Margherita pizza: slight tinge of sourdough in the crust, good cheese, sauce was fresh and bright, not tinny. The problem was that the sauce was too watery so it made the bottom of the pizza crust very soggy and kept the other ingredients from adhering to the pizza, so everything was runny. Pair that with the little too overcooked too crust, created an unbalanced bite. Salciccia: flavor was good, little smoky and sweet with the onions. Sausage was more crumbly and not Too fennel-y like some Italian sausage can be. I liked this one. Pizza also was over cooked on the crust and soggy bottom but not as bad as the Margherita (probably due to less marinara). Wood-fired octopus salad: get this. Aside from too many green olives and perhaps being a bit over salted (I am also salt-sensitive so could be me) this was delicious. The octopus was cooked well, not chewy but soft, easy to cut. The serving was also large! There were potatoes. Can't recall if there were other veggies...too focused on the octopus lol. It is a bit pricey ($30 per pizza, salad was $28? Bottled cola only at $6, sorry no free refills!) but as far as atmosphere and service, it's a cute place to go. I'm not a pizza aficionado, but based on our visit, pizza gets a 3 and salad gets a 5. read more

I could overlook the slow coffee service and over priced food. But The woman at the counter in the morning is a meh. After three visits, I can confidently say I won't be back, all thanks to her. She's an energy drain, she makes me feel like I'm a burden just by being there. On top of that, the coffee service is painfully slow, and the food is ridiculously overpriced. It's incredibly disappointing to encounter someone so disinterested and unfriendly it makes the whole experience a bummer. read more

If you like wood-fired pizza, don't miss Marlow. I'm a fan of sourdough crust as well. This place is doing all of it right. We started with Chef's Day Off for cocktails, a refreshing Hawaiian take on a mezcal drink. For starters we did the daily roasted veg and kauai prawns. Both were delicious. I'd come back just for the prawns: roasted in the wood fired oven and served with chimichurri in a chili oil, it was easily my favorite dish. Order with a side of bread to soak up any extra oil and chimichurri goodness. For pizza we went with the salsiccia. It was perfect. Came here with my wife (pizza lover). We got a recommendation from a friend and decided to make the trip over there for some good pizza. The ambiance was pleasant. The aesthetic was very modern and extremely clean. The staff was super friendly and most importantly the pizza was amazing. You could tell how fresh all the ingredients are. I've heard great things about Marlows coffee scene, however; today was my third time giving their coffee a chance and it was extremely underwhelming, I got two 8oz coffees with honey and one with their house made almond milk. Took a decent amount of time for the coffees to be made, the presentation was nice, pretty latte art. But it fooled me, the taste of the espresso was horrendous, salty and bitter with no kind of sweetness, I gagged after taking a sip and decided it wasn't worth it to drink. My friend and I decided to check out this fairly new spot in Pukalani. So glad we did!! The woman at the table next to us told us that if we like Tako (octopus) we had to try to the Wood Fired Octopus Salad. So we did. YUM! The Tako was nice and tender and the olives and potatoes mixed with arugula made a really nice flavor combo. It was super fresh too. We also tried the Kauai Prawns. OMG probably my favorite thing we had. The sauce that they serve it with was delicious. I could eat that on some pasta any day. We like food. So we got a Sauage Pizza as well. Also very tasty. We ended with some Cappuccino and Chocolate gelato. Nom nom nom. There was nothing that we didn't like. Our server was sweet and attentive but not too pushy. I appreciated that. Aloha, Marlow is a solid Italian restaurant that has a wood-burning stove putting out some great pizzas! The fungi with truffle oil was my fav, but the arrabiatta was awesome too, perfectly spicy! The menu is pretty extensive and looks amazing, will definitely need to return to work our way through it, but we wanted to see the view and live music next door at Mahalos, thus got it to go. One of the best pizzas we've ever had and both agreed, which is not always the case Unless you're into the 'date night' scene, I'd recommend take out which is what we noticed a lot of people doing - it's what we'll do next time, for sure - The ambiance is a little stark and with the very high ceilings, even as small as it is, it was quite noisy. My family's been raving about Marlow since they opened and I finally got a chance to try it the last time I flew home. All I can say is now I know why! The sourdough pizza crust is just *chefs kiss* We ordered the funghi, potato, bianca, and braised pork. We also ordered the meatballs (demolished before I could take a pic) and gnocchi.
