After years of coming to the outdoor bar portion, this was the first time I was in the restaurant; plain area, pretty outdated, but a good view of the beach. They have the best fresh squeezed OJ drinks. Ps. They still do not disappoint. lol....This time, I took one of my kids since we were in the are for her tournament. Stopped in the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend while visiting one of the arcades with my son. In all my years of going to Point Pleasant Beach I had not eaten here. Service was quick. Our server, Norman, was very attentive. We loved the bread they brought out for us. My son loved his pasta and the lobster roll was perfectly done. I am surprised by so many negative reviews. They must have really stepped up their game recently because my experience was very good. The lobster roll is HUGE for $26 and tasted very fresh. The old bay fries are also very good. The interior isn't much to write home about so I wouldn't come here if I was looking for more of a vibe but if you are looking for a hot lobster roll I can't think of many other places with these portion sizes for the price. Aside from the amazing food, this review is specifically for Alex, the banquet manager. To say that he goes above and beyond is an understatement. He helped us book our original wedding plan, which unfortunately we had to cancel. When we decided to elope at a local beach and host a dinner at Martell's Lobster House afterward, the main reason we chose Martell's was because of how helpful Alex had been. He was incredibly accommodating to me, my husband, and our guests. The service was absolutely top-notch -- we never had to wait or even ask for anything. Alex even provided us access to the Tiki Bar afterward and made sure to check in on us and our guests throughout the evening. Thanks to Alex, our wedding dinner was perfect. $44 for 1.5 lbs of snow crab legs and corn?! I'll take it. It was awesome. Would also recommend the lobster roll. We had great margaritas, and the cooked garlic cloves that they serve with bread is really memorable and delicious. We really love their private dining area in the back overlooking the ocean, which I am guessing not many people know about since every year that we go here, it doesn't seem that busy despite being there in July. It's definitely the hidden gem on the boardwalk. Cons: air conditioning was weak so it was pretty warm in there. Service was a little slow despite being one of seven tables. And the bathrooms are located in the tiki bar, so be prepared to share them with many self indulgent (drunken) patrons who have been at the beach all day. read more

Stopped by for a late lunch during the week after visiting the aquarium and playing in the arcades. Did not expect much for the restaurant being right on the boardwalk but i was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated right away. Service was great. Our waitress explained the menu, and made some suggestions which did not disappoint. You could tell the place is well managed as the staff worked as a team, from taking the orders to someone else delivering the food and then clearing the plates. On to the food. We had the lobster tail and shrimp combo and the half rack of ribs. One word. Delicious. The lobster and shrimp were excellent. No fishy taste or rubbery texture, while the ribs were tender and comparable to smoke house ribs found in the south. The restaurant itself, while not fancy, is nicer than most boardwalk style restaurants, with great air conditioning, very bright inside with nice ocean views. Highly recommend! read more

DISGUSTING! First of all, You walk in and the room just reeks of nasty old fish, not delicious seafood. The floor is littered with garbage. The table we sat at had no silverware or Napkins or anything we needed for our meal. After they dropped off our appetizer, they still didn't get us any so we had to take from another table, just unnecessarily embarrassing. After we ate, the appetizers and used plates sat at the corner of our table the rest of our meal, no one came and cleared the table at any point of our meal. This is like 5 dirty dishes piled on top of each other, that we had to strategically move around a few times to make room for our food. At one point I saw the waitress take a single plate from another table and the napkin and food fell on the ground. I kid you not, she stopped, looked at it, thought about picking it up, and decided to keep walking and leave it there. It stayed there the rest of the time we were there, about another hour and was still there when we walked out. They could not care less and show zero pride in what they do it seems. Then we get our food and needed a drink refill. We ate half of our food before we had to find someone to help us because I kid you not, our waitress was too busy eating her dinner and looking at her phone to help us . She decided to eat a few tables away so we saw very clearly. I'm no snob but cmon now, help your tables before you break. At least make sure their food is ok and that they don't need anything like, I don't know, SILVERWARE, Napkins, condiments. Being there with your 5-year-old child you just want them to be taken care of but that wasn't even happening. Last, the food. We got the spicy clams in a pot or whatever and there was 0.25 in of broth at the bottom and the top was filled with dry nasty clams. I had the lobster pot which was good, I really liked it, no complaints there. The sushi was decent too. Maybe If the restaurant wasn't disgusting and the staff cared at all it would've been ok. Summary - absolutely disgusting restaurant with genuinely the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. It's pricey and food is average but if you're considering taking your family to a nice meal, I'd highly recommend you skip this dump and get a slice instead. When the food and service is good- I'm willing to overlook the fact that the inside of the restaurant looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years. The seafood was fresh and delicious! The Lobster Mac and cheese was so good! Ordered it as a main for my daughter but it was too much for her so we ate it like a family style side dish. The prices were reasonable and it's right off the beach. We had ocean view seats and it's pretty causal so they can accommodate you if your dragging sand in your bathing suit from the beach or if your freshly dressed. I forgot what treat this place was. We ate again at Martell's Lobster House on a Sunday afternoon, which is when we usually eat there. We were greeted at the door with a smile, and we were seated at a table at the window with an ocean view. Our server Gabby was pleasant, efficient and professional at all times. We shared the drunken angry clams for starters. The clams were large and the whole dish was buttery, garlicky, and spicy. The seasoned bread with butter and roasted garlic is so good that we ate the whole loaf, which we would never do in any other restaurant. My husband had the crab cake sandwich, as always, because Martell's crab cakes are the best. They're meaty and spicy and big. I had the shrimp scampi over linguini, served in a white designer bowl. The shrimp were large and cooked perfectly, and so was the linguini. It was smothered in butter and fresh garlic. The linguini portion was so big that I could only eat half of it. This place is very popular so I would suggest eating here during off hours to avoid noisy crowds. read more

This was my first experience at this location. I enjoyed the DJ playing outside with the crowd enjoying themselves. Others may not enjoy it as much, but I am young and cool. They over bread at the table which was actually a highlight. I really enjoyed the spices on the bread. The Lobster and Shrimp meal I enjoyed. I do wish more shrimp was on the plate. Fries were ok but they not fresh cut. For a boardwalk, I feel everyone should fresh cut. My wife's meal was a lobster roll and it was a nice size portion and was tasty. I have dined hear 2 other times and every time is great ! I order the steak and garlic lobster claws meat on top with mash and it is amazing . I don't normally eat seafood cause i'm new to it but this dish was amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection as well. We stopped by the Lobster House Martells Point Pleasant Beach NJ for a late lunch between hospital shifts and were pleasantly surprised by the service, environment, and food quality. My family and I were greeted hospitably by the hostess and seated as soon as a table was available. Our servicer Tori greeted us quickly after with menus a smile and a welcoming attitude. Took our drink orders and talked concisely about the menu and gave us time to order and answered any and all of our questions graciously. Our Monday night visit for 5 was good except for my meal. One diner had a Hamburger with fries that met her satisfaction. Another diner had the chicken parm with linguini. A large portion of breaded chicken with their tasty red sauce and properly cooked linguini. The half-stuffed lobster was properly cooked, and the diner was pleased. Another diner had the 1 1/2 lobster with an ear of corn and mashed potatoes, OK here as well. My Seafood Cameryn (three shrimp, 3 large mussels, three clams, about a dozen pieces of Calamari over a nice portion of linguini, I had the red sauce, mild, Oil and garlic was another choice, spicy red sauce was another choice). This was a disappointment. none of the seafood was cooked enough, the calamari was rubber, clams and mussels need to cook more as well. Waitress was attentive without being hovering. Very busy place for a Monday and seriously noisy. Even though we were pretty far back we still had a view of the beach and ocean, which is why we went there. The bars were jammed mostly with the 20ies crowd. Three restaurants in one place, the crab restaurant had a different menu from the Lobster House. This place is kind of hidden in the back on the boardwalk. It has a nice view of the ocean, so it's best to come before it gets dark out. Overall I thought our dinner was good. The appetizer, and soups were delicious. As for the entrees I thought it was just ok, no wow factor. The price seems reasonable considering this is a seasonal place. Best service all night was at the bar while we waited for a table. Didn't have a problem with that, there were 14 of us, so that's the way it works. Server was super nice, splitting such a group into three checks. Downhill from there... We place our orders and it took 20+ minutes for appetizers. Other tables were seated and served before us. Then, we could not get drink refills. Finally, almost an hour after we were seated, our entrees arrived. Sides were five to ten minutes later. Still waiting for drink refills. Server was apologetic for the delay, but she was plenty busy with other tables. Other problem is, food runners brought our food and we did not see her. Main dining room is packed - as in hard to get around, and extremely warm (as in sitting and sweating waiting for and eating dinner). Now, for some GOOD highlights! Fresh bread when seated is awesome because they have a roasted garlic bulb that you can spread yourself! Coconut shrimp appetizer comes with a pretty delicious blackberry dipping sauce. The Shrimp Scargot is absolutely delicious and was the best part of the meal, better than the twin lobster tails which were well cooked, but relatively flavorless. The lobster trap was good, decent amount of food for the price. $175 bill for four people before tip left me questioning whether the food was that good or the tourist trap had caught me. For my first time at the Martell's Lobster House I can honestly say, the waitress Melissa helped to make this dining experience an even better one! Melissa was very nice, helpful, really pleasant, and funny too. She is also an Excellent Iphone aerial photographer. Two of her photos I posted here on Yelp. The food at Martell's is pretty good. For starters my date and I shared the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with Cocktail sauce that had a nice kick to it. He loved it and so did I! That was one of the best cocktail sauces I have ever tasted. We also shared sushi...a Salmon roll to be exact, it was amazing! We really enjoyed it! For his Entrée, my date had the Chicken Parmigiana over Penne pasta...which isn't something I would order at a Seafood restaurant, but he said it was good. He also had a Caesar Salad. I ordered the Lobster Roll that came with cold slaw and French fries, it was ok. Although the lobster meat was plentiful, I only wished the roll had been toasted with a little butter on it. The drinks we decided on were Pina Coladas and later my date had a hurricane, both were really good! I would definitely eat at Martell's again! Hello Yelpers: I encountered Martell's yesterday on Friday July 16. I shared my experience with my boyfriend and my best friend. This review contains our three experiences with detail on the overlap. First off, dirty wrinkled menus. We were served a large, greasy, STALE loaf of bread. Bread was at least a day old. While drinks were sent promptly. They were sent in cheap plastic water glasses and were not terribly good, very watered down. We had the Deep Blue (which was more like a light blue!) and some Lemonade based drink. We all ordered oysters and while they were pretty good, they did not give us any oyster forks or even spoons for the mignonette sauce. Yes of course you can just slurp them down, but etiquette commands that maybe you use a fork. The problem is that not one minute after our Oysters arrived, all the entrees arrived as well, leaving the table crowded and the pasta to sit and get cold. My boyfriend had the shrimp scampi over linguini and something in it made him sick. We aren't sure if it was a reaction to the stale bread or the seafood or what but he started coughing and feeling weird. I will give them that the lobster ravioli was pretty good. The problem: my friend took hers to go and they put this saucy, messy food in a cheap container and paper bag which resulted in the food spilling out all over the side of her sundress. So she essentially was out $26 for food she never got to eat AND a new $30 dress that was ruined by the sauce. Worst off, now I have to spend the rest of the day with a pissed off friend and a sick boyfriend. This place is very expensive and the service does NOT reflect that. We decided to drop in here for some lobster while walking on the boardwalk. Big mistake. The service was sub par. Took forever to get our appetizer and when it arrived, my husband's clams were oysters. Sent them back and said forget it. My salad was served with no dressing. The lobster was good, but the corn on the cob looked and tasted like it was in a pot of water since the morning. I won't be back. Not the same as it used to be. But as with most things at a Jersey boardwalk food place, everything is drenched in lipids. Oils, butter, fat. I guess it's part of the experience. Food is passable, but not great. But it did look fresh. A freshly baked loaf of bread arrives at your table within minutes of being seated. Of course drenched in oil. But like everything else, it was fresh. I grew up going to Point Pleasant so it seemed fitting to take my husband and 4 year old son for a visit since we are moving back to New Jersey. So we went to the sushi bar. Never had a server come to bring drinks. The sushi chef made the sushi and left. The sushi is ok, 3 rolls for $25. My husband and I had a fantastic meal and visit at Martell's Lobster House. We shared a delicious meal for 2 - that consisted of a large 2 lb. Maine Lobster, 1 lb. of delicious snow crab legs, lots of mussels, clams, sweet corn on the cob, and Yukon Gold potatoes. It started well as our server, Emily, was extremely helpful, friendly, and came by regularly to refill waters and see if we needed anything else. Prior to our order, she checked with Tom, the executive head chef, to see about special requests we wanted to make with our order. I asked to replace the small Caesar salad with a scrumptious, fresh pear salad, and we also asked to have fried clams rather than steamed. Emily returned each time she asked Tom with his positive response: "Of course!" In addition to food that tasted great, the portions were huge - the salads and fresh bread alone could have been a meal in itself. The price was expensive but well worth it! And the view of Point Pleasant Beach and the outside Tiki Bar makes it a fun place to dine. My husband and I highly recommend you try this place, if you love delicious seafood. I am a bit of a lobster snob, and ours was cooked perfectly - not overdone. The drawn butter was warm and even the corn on the cobs were sweet and not overcooked.
