Impromptu walk in party of 8 or 9 last week. Was not impressed with this restaurant. I had high hopes for it. The decor is nice on the inside. Very inviting and a good layout for small parties. Not that great for larger parties (8 or more). I was also not happy with some of the beer. The quality was good, but it was not to my taste (no factor for the mark down). The one exception was the 24th Anniversary Ale. It was very good. Dinner was disappointing. I ordered the surf and turf pasta (not on the main menu). It tasted pretty "canned" and only had the turf. No surf. Unfortunately it had also taken a considerable amount of time to get, so I didn't notice until I was most of the way through it. I understand how busy a kitchen can get when a larger group pops in unannounced, but it wasn't very busy for a Tuesday night. At the end of the meal the waitress brought one check (when it was pretty obvious we would be separate). We asked if she could break it up, but she kind of sighed and in the end took evenly split checks (which really screwed some of us). Overall, not the best experience. Worst service I've had. I was seated at the bar this past weekend and it took almost 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. She was very friendly once she finally realized that we were there to eat and drink. We tried two of the house brews and they were ok, but nothing exciting. The food was normal bar food. The biggest problem we had is that our bartender disappeared. We wanted 2 waters after about 10 minutes of eating and she was no where to be found. What made me angry was when I spilled my beer and no one was there to even notice. What I disliked even more was that an employee/friend of employee was sitting at the bar NEXT TO US and didn't even say anything/get help etc., but once their employee/friend of employee friend had another friend show up they moved down the bar to chat it up. I know the employee that they moved seats to sit next to worked there since she went behind the bar to get an item. I understand it was around shift change. I was in the restaurant industry for over 15 years. I get it, but if you go off shift, you need to notify your guests, and the incoming bartender of what checks are open and the status. Also, employees should not be drinking at the bar, and if they are, make it the backside of the bar where patrons who aren't getting the best service can see you. (so kudos to the one worker who did that). I would not recommend this place. read more

I wouldn't recommend the food here. I get it, this is a well established restaurant/bar in Nashua; lots of patrons are pre-programmed to frequent here. I've been to Martha's several times over the last 5 years. Every visit the food is worse than the previous visit. All the food seems like it was purchased not made from scratch but the price point is set as if you are getting fresh, made from scratch. More often than not the servers are friendly and the coffee tastes great. Unfortunately, the food is expensive AND awful. read more

I'd say this is more of a 3.5 rating than a 3. Martha's is a great local hangout with very good food given the pub style restaurant appearance. You'd really be surprised at some of their creative dish options that are quiet yummy and way above the normal "pub food" (the jambalaya is very delicious btw). What's really cool is they brew their own beer in house so you'll never be able to get a Budweiser here and the bar is quite large. It does become a night club type setting late at night and on the weekends so you can tell that this has worn down the restaurant quite a bit. read more

Jan 2015. Was doing some errands with my parents when we were all getting hungry so decided to pop into Martha's. My mom has not been here for many years now so she was hoping the food would be better then the years ago she was there. I ordered the lamb salad, dad ordered the chicken pot pie, and mom ordered a bowl of the chicken masala soup. She was not impressed at all with the soup and exchanged it for the corn chowder, which she still did not enjoy. All of the times she has been there she has gotten soup and never had a bowl or cup she liked. I enjoyed my lamb and my dad enjoyed his pie. The drinks and entrees seem great but soup is not up to par. I would recombined an entree over the soup. Not sure what is missing in them, maybe a little more practice. The service was great and very attentive to waters. I would come back here. Every time I see the Seafood Parpadelle on the menu I always want to try it. Next dinner outing I shall. read more

Stopped in here with some friends after dinner and starter drinks at the Peddler's Daughter. What a weird mix of people...young girls, older guys. There was a DJ playing a mix of top 40 and r&b, I think. I really didn't know too many of the songs. I did feel a bit too old to be in here...I can't remember the last time I went to a bar that required me to get a stamp on my hand. lol! Anyway, we still did a little ass shaking and had a good time. I think there were cheap drinks that night too, but not the 'name' liquor so I paid full price for my grey goose & cran. I don't know if my perspective would've been different if I weren't already a little drunk when I got there, but we had a good time! So maybe you should arrive with your beer goggles on! read more

Went here one time and it was pretty decent, good food and service. Came here a second time and the service was not good and food mediocre at best...the place was barely full and the bartender could not keep up. This is our absolute favorite place in Nashua. We eat here every time on our way to go skiing. The menu offers an excellent selection of different foods and everything is always delicious. Today at lunch I had a new menu item, the Greek Salad with grilled shrimp. The portion was very generous, the vegetables were warm and the dressing perfectly complemented the salad & shrimp. There's also a great kids menu. Every single person that works there is extremely nice and helpful from the hostess, manager, waitress and busboy. And if that's not enough, the setting is bright & sun-flooded. I don't have enough great things to say about this place except do not hesitate to go there.. read more

Everytime I have gone, it's been a good experience. Not 5 stars because only once, my entree was too salty. I always get the same thing, the lamb with mediterranean rice. YUM!' My husband always gets steak and its always perfectly cooked. Salads are great and the environment very cool. read more

Martha's food is great, and in the summer you can sit outside and eat. The people are always really nice and the waitresses are quick and polite. Its different from all the other restaurants in Nashua, which are chains. PLUS they brew there own beer and root beer. They have a little candy store inside of the restaurant off to the side with sweet treats for after dinner that you can buy on your way out. read more

Came to Martha's after a lovely afternoon of apple picking at Parlee Farms. We came at kind of an odd hour (4ish, but it wasn't completely dead). I had the Pumpkinweizen seasonal beer (yummy) and the Gorgonzola burger. The burger was good, but nothing really to write home about I suppose. It was also a little over-done (I asked for medium expected it to be slightly pink, but it more like medium-well). Their fries were really nice though. They were just the way I like them (thin and crispy). The rest of the menu looked interesting and it's a bit all over the place. My friend mentioned that their Jambalaya is fantastic (as have some other reviewers). Service was good too. I just wish I had gotten a better look at the candy shoppe! read more

I cannot speak for all of their items as their Chicken Mozzarella Panini is so good, I have been to Marthas 5 or 6 times and I have ordered it everytime! Came here for my sister's engagement party. To say that the food was good is an understatement. The area that was set aside for our party was on the small side so it was kind of hard to meander among the whole group. The restaurant itself was very large, I just wish they had a larger area for private parties. My steak was amazing, it cut like butter and was perfectly cooked. I didn't care for the wasabi mashed potatoes. I noticed other people who ordered the steak from the prefix menu didn't really like them either. I tried another person's bleu cheese mashed potatoes and would have rather had them, those were scrumptious. Overall I'm very happy with the night and food. read more

If you live in Nashua, you KNOW Martha's... And probably the bartenders too. Great place! Nice decor, awesome food. During the day you'll find families. At night they move the tables to open the floor for dancing. The nightlife is great. Only complaint would be the service in the evening. Depending on how busy it is, it can sometimes be nearly impossible to get the bartenders attention. Otherwise, great place for food and drinks! read more

I didn't have the food there, but we grabbed a beer there after going to Parker's Maple Barn (and waiting 2 hours for our table). Nice beer menu, good price on the sampler, and REALLY good dark chocolate almond bark at the candy shop!! However, a warning to the ladies using the bathroom on the candy shop side: as of 3/22/08, neither of the doors locked, and the doors go all the way to the floor so you can't tell if the bathrooms are in use or not. Although the atmosphere seems nice, the food is okay. The service is off and on. Chelsea the bartender, however, is fantastic. I went on a night they had a DJ which was fun and different although I felt a little to old for the crowd. At any rate, you can't go wrong getting a cheeseburger there. This review is not for the food. I have not eaten here yet. The restaurant itself is confusing.. its a "brewery" but seems like they are trying to be an upscale restaurant too? I just don't get that. Parking is absolutely terrible in the downtown area. You will most likely have to walk a block or 2 to get to the restaurant. There is metered parking on the main street, so make sure you have quarters with you if you are lucky enough to get a spot close by. Now for the brew review- It's just ok. I would consider myself a "worldy" and well travelled hops geek. There wasn't really anything I thought was phenomenal or out of the ordinary here, just run of the mill.. an IPA, a red, a brown, a budweiser-type, a belly-warmer... nothing really memorable. I enjoyed what I got but I wasn't like OMG. solid 3 stars for the beer selection/ flavor. They have a full bar and the service was not quick.. they spend the most time with the people who looked like they had money. I felt out of place at one point. Really good beer. The dipa is fantastic. Lamb pocket was really good as well. The crabcake salad was suprisingly small. Crabcakes were good, but literally a handful of lettuce. My wife ordered a salad for lunch and expected something decent. The place is in severe needs of updating. The bar was cracked and falling apart, ceiling tiles missing and neglected and lighting fixtures not working. It was probably a really nice place at one time. Restaurant/bar atmosphere, good food and original brews. Great place to grab a lunch or informal dinners. Good home made beer on tap. Chowder was a little watery but lots of clams and potatoes with a good unique flavor/spice. Burger was cooked right. Sauce on the mussels could have used a little more flavor, but pretty good. Average food, higher than average cost. Burgers $11+. Don't go late on a Saturday night, kitchen close advertised as 10:30pm but if you show up at 10:05pm, it's a problem. Odd that a bar's kitchen would close so early when the place stays open much later. Pastrami in my Reuben had much fat, perhaps other entrees are better quality. Also after 10:30pm Saturday nights the place turns into a young crowd dance club. Beware, unless that's what you're after! :-) On the positive side, excellent service. read more

I've been here for lunch a number of times and it's really growing on me. This time we ate outside with our dog and had a great experience. They brought a water bowl for her gave us great menu recommendations, were attentive and quick with service. The meal was delicious (and we are pretty big foodies). Great outside seating area, expansive menu and willingness to make substitutions. I'd be surprised if someone couldn't find something they were happy with. We found this place with the help of fellow yelpers. Driving back from Vermont in the pouring ass rain, we needed a port in the storm. Thank you yelpers! We had some decent microbrew and delicious lunch. The fresh mozzarella, cucumbers, red pepper, and smoked salmon were the perfect combination to make a truly delicious sandwich. My wife and I enjoyed our time at their bar recently. We easily shared a prime rib and each got our own soups. The beef was tender and juicy, and it was reasonably priced.
