This place is cozy and right by the beach. The coffee was strong and rich, which is always a plus. The loaded potato scramble, Monte Cristo sandwich, Caesar salad, and blueberry pancakes were all delicious. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo for a rich, hearty start to your day. It's a grilled ham and cheese taken to a whole new level! The staff is friendly and thoughtful of their guests too: for the sandwich I was sharing, our server took the initiative to have the sandwich and side Caesar salad served on two separate plates. This place is a great neighborhood cafe. A great addition to a nice beach walk, or a good destination for brunch. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, the service is good, and the location is awesome. The stuffed french toast is a personal favorite; their scrambles are also very good as well, as are their sandwiches and wraps. I've been several times and everything that I've gotten has been good. The only drawbacks are that since it's a pretty popular restaurant, there is usually a wait. If it's nice, the patio is the only option, the dining room is pretty small. Parking could be a little difficult, but there is usually metered parking available on Hermosa ave. However, you're going to have to walk a little bit. I was biking on the strip and yelped around for a brunch spot near by. My friend mentioned this place gets pretty busy but I wanted to check it out since we were biking right by it. Luckily since it was an odd time we got seated within 10 min. They have a pretty big outside patio and the inside is pretty big and spacious as well. The outside is nicer but we were hungry so we took whatever we can take. The menu is pretty big and has a bit of everything you can want. I was more in the mood for brunch so the egg dishes were more appealing to me, rather than the burgers or sandwiches. They have plenty of omelets, benedicts, as well all the yummy sweet carbs you would want. _Bacon, Mushroom, Onion, Tomato Omelet ($12.95) Served with hash browns, (sub cottage cheese or fruits for $1.75), and toast. I got this in egg whites and scrambled. I also subbed the hash browns for fruits. I opted for the popular raisin cinnamon bread. The scramble was a pretty good portion, good amount of toppings mixed in and you can taste a bit saltiness from the bacon, that was a bit more like ham instead of fatty pieces of bacon. The fruits were fresh mixes of cantaloupe, melons, a few grapes, and a strawberry. The raisin brown was pretty darn good and different from the regular sourdough or rye. I'm not a huge fan of too much raisins so this was just the right amount. The toast already had butter inside, which I was not a huge fan of, so next time I would ask for butter on the side. The raspberry jam was fresh and tasted homemade as you can taste the seeds in them. A simple and solid dish. _Eggs Redondo Benedict ($12.75) Toasted english muffin topped with sliced of broiled garlic tomato, marinated artichoke hearts, poached eggs, and fresh hollandaise sauce. Served with hash browns, sub fruit or cottage cheese for $1.75. I had a bite of this and it was pretty good and light. I'm not a huge fan of benedict because it's too heavy for me and the sauce is too creamy since I'm lactose but the flavor was good and I liked the tomato flavor inside. _Buttermilk Blueberry Pancakes ($7.25, 2 pieces) The 2 stacks were pretty big. The pancakes were pretty fluffy, I wish it was a bit warmer thought as it was a bit cold. They had a good ratio of fresh blueberries inside. They served it with butter on the top which I quickly took off since I'm not a huge fan of butter. Syrup is all you need for this. This hit the pancake spot. Overall good solid breakfast if you are in the area by the beach and biking along. I wanted to try their popular stuffed French toast but did not want to get major food coma while biking. read more

Stopped in at Martha's on Monday morning for breakfast! Not only is it just a few steps away from the beautiful beach, but the service and food were both awesome. Our server was a very kind lady (can't remember her name!) who was prompt and very helpful, as well as cheerful and friendly. Each of us ordered breakfast burritos, which came with house made salsas that were really good. The hot chocolate was massive, and the lattes were made to perfection. I got the sweet corn scramble and it was out of this world. My friends got the Keto bowl and raved about how delicious it was. Not a single person in our party had any food left over on our plates. Wanted to get out of my home town of San Pedro for breakfast. Went for a drive around the coast of Palos Verdes ended up in Hermosa Beach at Martha's 22nd Street Grill. Martha's was quite busy for a Thursday morning but the wait wasn't more than 5mins to be seated. The patio is covered & makes for a beautiful peek a boo ocean view. The menu isn't to extensive but covers all the classic breakfast dishes including many different eggs Benedicts I'm a big chorizo lover so I got the egg scramble with chorizo & avocado I absolutely recommend it. My husband is more traditional so he preferred the French toast which they have many regular & stuffed YUMMY! I wish I had a better experience here as their food could make this review better (2 star). We were a big group who came in at 9:30am and were advised to wait for 20min. Basically, we saw them continuously giving tables to groups of 2-4 and made us wait for over 65min. At the end, they gave us a table of 8 in the sun with no shades at the entrance (heaviest traffic) while we had a two week old baby...! it's scary how poor their hospitality spirit is. Even though we ordered large orange juice and a bottle of Champaign for mimosa, they brought it in a tall glass. We were like ?!? We ordered omelets, pancakes, breakfast burrito, breakfast burger, egg Benedict. Food was solid. It could be the owner is anti specific ethnicity. However, it was simply disappointed that they never apologized for making us wait for so long, giving us such a bad seat in the sun at the entrance after such a long wait- and that was after we requested and pointed out a few potential spots, which they ignored and created the worst table... whatever the motive was, it was very unpleasant. read more

This is my go to place when I'm back in the area. When we lived in the area (2011-2015) it was a regular brunch spot. My husband even tried to make me the eggs benedict like they do when we moved to vegas a few months ago. Yes you have to wait on the popular weekend or holiday days, but the ocean view makes that easy. We have five kids and they all love it...even the baby. Casual beach wear. Order cheese on the hashbrowns. My health conscious friends dig the place too. If you have a well behaved dog lots of people bring them and sit on the porch w the dog just outside the fence where they can still touch the dog. read more

I am a breakfast snob, and this place hits a home run every time! I travel to California a few times a year and always make it a goal to eat breakfast here. We just ate here for Mother's Day. I've had just about half the menu already, nothing is ever less than perfect and fresh. Portions are generous, dishes flavorful, and the OJ tastes freshly squeezed too. Eggs beni are probably my favorite here due to the hollandaise they've mastered and the eggs perfectly poached. The servers are always kind and in good spirits. I recommend sitting outside for the immaculate view of the ocean (weather permitting). A great combo of FOH and BOH staff. read more

So So So disappointed. Such a cute little rustic breakfast/brunch place just off the beach. We both had omelets and they were delicious. However, the cheese on my smoked salmon was only a big glob in the middle which made it quite unappetizing. I scrapped it off and finished the yummy salmon omelet. My friend had the ABC omelet and again, the cheese was one huge lump in the middle. My hash browns were covered in pepper, so I couldn't eat them. I highly recommend the pancakes! Still a nice place for breakfast/lunch that's nearly right on the beach but the recent change in ownership has knocked down what would be a 5-star review. Mostly due to the revamped menu which removed a lot of the 'old favorites' (Need my sundried-tomato scramble in the morning! And the rolled chicken salad was something unique to Marthas, now replaced with the same salads everybody else serves.) Servers and other staff are still great, but I think everybody who's a regular here were hoping that the new owners wouldn't feel the need to fix what wasn't broken... and that appears to not be the case. read more

I have to say, this place was delightful! Will definitely come back to eat here. Maybe lunch/dinner next time. We came for breakfast and the food was delicious and the view was even better. (Picture below) I would recommend sitting inside if you're going to be eating during the morning/day because the flies are aggressive haha they are not scared so they'll stand on anything on the table. They should really consider the fly zappers. (Picture below). Also, the waitresses take so long to take your order. I think it's hard for them to notice ppl coming in and sitting down if they're running arounf. There were 2 of them and neither came over to take our drink order for about 15 minutes or so. It really wasnt as busy so I'm not sure what the hold up would have been. But the food and view was great so it made up for the wait :) read more

Martha's is a hermosa beach staple with a great outdoor seating area....an outdoor seating area that is often full of sweet puppies dining with their families...one of my favorite features in a restaurant, really. After years of walking past this place, I finally ate here with my friends, and I enjoyed it. The staff is really sweet and attentive, and they get you seated as soon as they can, which is nice because it gets cray-cray busy there. There were three of us on a Saturday afternoon, and we only waited about 15 minutes for our table. I should also mention that their outdoor seating area is shaded, which is great for those bright sunny days when you don't want to burn while dining. After listening to the specials which sounded amazing, I settled on the Eggs Hermosa, and they were great, but they were drowning in Hollandaise sauce...I should've ordered the sauce on the side. The hash browns were crispy and went perfectly with the Eggs Hermosa. They have a ton of options on the menu, including your staples like eggs, waffles, and pancakes, but they also have great specials like French toast stuffed with berries....so yummy. I think I should've gotten the stuffed French toast. I really enjoyed my meal, and would totally come back here again. read more

Took an out of town visitor there for breakfast this morning as it is one of the most beautiful places to eat !! But I was sorely disappointed !! I had California Benedict. My friend and I went here for breakfast today. It was pretty full for 8am on a Friday. The people who work here were welcoming and warm. They have loads of vegan options. They let you sub any egg scramble for tofu. I got The Gigi, which came with sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, garlic... and maybe spinach. I got a side of spinach instead of hash browns; I don't remember if it already came with it. Anyway. This dish was pricy at $12 or $13, but very scrumptious. So much flavor. They don't have a liquor, but make a soju Bloody Mary. It's OK. Mimosas were slightly above average. If you're into hot sauce... They carry tobacco, cholula, and sriracha. If you're into salsa... They just have pico de gallo and ranchero sauce. read more

I've been eating at Martha's for over 17 years and the food was always amazing. However they recently renovated it to a trendy LA style layout and changed a large amount of the menu. While it would be exciting, the food and recipes were always at the heart of Martha's. For example I ordered the stuffed French toast which I've ordered a million times over the years , and instead of the wonderful crispy sliced sourdough and delicious cream cheese filling they changed it to bread that tasted like cardboard and the filling was watery. I get that it looks more aesthetically pleasing with its new triangle shape but if the quality has gone down what's the point? I can get mediocre food that looks trendy anywhere. read more
