Met girlfriends for a birthday breakfast and Jose was our server. He was wonderful. Took time with us as we had 10 in our party. Very attentive. Martha's is an iconic spot for locals and tourists as it's less than a block from the Pacific Ocean. The menu is expansive and the food is flavorful and always consistently good. We had the breakfast burrito which is always a great choice. Their egg Benedict's come with ham or salmon or veggies and the hollandaise sauce is the right texture and flavorful. Beautiful SO CA setting and a friendly happy vibe with all ages enjoying a meal by the ocean. A must if you haven't been there, you won't be disappointed. read more

We went on a Sunday and it was pretty packed but we opted for the first available seating and got seated fast. It was a two person table with an extra chair pulled for a party of three but it was doable. It definitely gives that local hangout vibe. The food was a bit of a let down as it didn't have much flavor or the pancakes were pretty dry. This is a great neighborhood restaurant in Hermosa Beach for breakfast, just a block off the Strand. Our waiter, Alex, suggested the sampler plate and we weren't disappointed. We were taking our weekend walk at the beach and recalled that a good friend recommended Martha's and while walking on the strand looked up 22nd street and saw it so thought we might stop there before heading home. About a half hour later called and were told there would be maybe a 10-15 minute wait max at around 1pm, so we got there around 1 and saw people sitting on benches and went hmmm but decided to see how long it would take to be seated and because we were a 2 and not 4 or more got seated outdoors fairly quickly under an umbrella, which was perfect! Looking at the menu we decided breakfast was what we wanted, so a cinnamon cake pancake, a chocolate chip pancake, vegetable omelette and iced tea. All three items were absolutely delicious. My wife loved her omelette and we split and both loved the two pancakes. Kate C. Was an exceptionally good server. She has a good sense of humor and brought us ice tea without being asked because she saw we both finished ours before the meal even came. If there's one thing we observed is that possibility they are short staffed as Kate seemed to have lots of tables to service and was moving quickly back and forth between tables and bringing food out. We will definitely come back, either when it opens or around 1pm (it closes at 3pm), the time we came Sunday, as it's obviously very popular. read more

Martha's is my favorite breakfast spot in the South Bay - your quintessential locals spot! Seemed a smidge disorganized with seating people as we were waiting in a line and then a few people got sat ahead of the line who had just walked up and had the same number in their party but we didn't have to wait more than a minute before we got sat as well. I got an omelette and chai and my friend got a breakfast burrito and both were delicious, served hot and we didn't have to wait long even though it was jam packed on a Sunday so props to their kitchen staff. Service was friendly and your feel good neighborhood vibe. Weekends are packed here so com early or be prepared to wait. You may also have to park a ways away and nearby street parking is metered unless you get lucky parking up in the homes (but watch out for the street signs). Their location is right along the strand so a great opportunity for a little beach walk after you eat or while you wait. read more

Made a other quick little breakfast trip to Martha's , went just after 8 , was greeted nicely and sat down. The Menu is pretty solid and has options for everyone . Today I ordered the open face breakfast sandwhich and it was really really good. Literally every element was perfect the eggs were perfectly cheesy , the bacon crisp yet chewy... I added the salsa verde from my friends breakfast burrito and that was a delicious addition as well. Sitting down and enjoy such a perfect fall morning overlooking the beach was amazing I will be back. I dont remember any of the staffs name , but everyone was super attentive and amazing. read more

found martha's while searching for a brunch spot near the water and hit the jackpot with this spot. it was SUPER busy on saturday morning but we snagged a spot at the counter. service was great as was the food. we had the breakfast burrito and the steak and egg bowl. started off with a banana nut muffin and they recommended having it grilled and it was 10/10. tried the horchata latte and that was phenomenal. can't beat this location either. highly recommend! read more

I hate to do this, but we have better spots for breakfast in the Southbay. Since I have good reference points I will check the following. 1. Parking. Not available. It is a nightmare to go there during peak times like weekends. 2. Waiting time: 30-40 minutes. Vs. say Scotty's right on the boardwalk there is no waiting time.... Also a bit overwhelmed by all chaos of people waiting. Not a place to chill and have a nice quiet breakfast. 3. Food: just okay. Nothing crazy or fancy. Coffee was good. 4. Customer service: thumbs up on this one. 5. Cost: Not too bad. $18+for an omelet $3.50 for coffee. Summary: over all, I think I will not be coming back don't like to wait and deal with parking. This restaurant has been around for many years and clearly loved by locals, so I had high expectations. Did not disappoint! I had a ham and cheese omelette and my husband had the french toast. This brunch spot is right next to the beach. There is a wait, we waited about 30 min for a table of 4. Mostly outdoor seating so keep in mind of the sun! The waitress was super nice but the food was slow... don't know if it was a one time thing but also would keep this in mind. The Californian ($14.50) - healthy amounts of avocado but my friend would have liked the bread to be toasted; it was very soft curly fries were also good! Beware though - you have to add a protein for extra $$ Breakfast burrito ($14.95) - very delicious. Abundant amounts of sauces (sour cream, green sweetish/savory sauce, red spicy sauce) and plenty of protein inside the burrito. Guac portion could've been more but my friend can't complain Bacon mushroom tomato omelet ($17.95) - this was a standard omelet, not that much bacon but a good protein choice. The potatoes were really soggy so we didn't finish them, honestly would skip this one next time! Made it a mission to finally try after walking by for more than a decade on visits to Manhattan Bch/Hermosa area. Right on opening on a Saturday morning with about 10 other people, to avoid the stampede of humanity and GTF out in 45 min, ordered the breakfast burrito, grilled tortilla and hash browns on the side requested. The burrito, which cost $23 with tax n tip, no drink, is a perfect size. Not too big to be overstuffed, not tiny to leave feeling shortchanged. Its loaded with sausage eggs bacon and Havarti cheese. A shredded sharp cheddar better, and the hash browns inside that was served in a dish as asked for, isn't really hash browns, but a strange almost burnt thin short pik-nik like potato sticks; that was bizarre. Next time will specifically ask for real hash browns, if they have. The green salsa is to die for; the pico isnt really the traditional pico but more of a smoky chipotle like version, but still good, and a cup of sour cream rounds out the trio of nice sauces. In all, solid 4.5 but rounding to a 5. Patio or inside seating, lots of menu items to try, will be back to try the diabetes specials. read more

The ambiance is nice, friendly staff and delicious coffee. I ordered the steak and eggs and a hot Spanish late w/ oat milk. My dish came with cheesy hash brown and bell peppers. The hash brown was absolutely delicious. The quality of the steak wasn't good it was chewy and tasteless. The mushroom and asparagus were sautéed with so much balsamic vinegar; the flavor was overwhelming, I just set them aside. I will possibly return and try other fishes . read more

Parking around this area is TOUGH so I recommend pulling up real quick to put your name down with the restaurant because there will also likely be a wait. I circled the block for at least 25 mins before I finally found a spot, you just have to get lucky. I came with a group of my friends for Saturday brunch. Once our name was down, we waited about 30 mins to get seated. They have both indoor and outdoor patio seating. We got seated inside and ordered almost immediately. Unfortunately waiting to get our food was a journey and we did not receive our food until an hour of placing our orders. Most of the table all ordered some version of the different Eggs Benedict and I just don't understand what took so long. Once the food came, it was pretty good and my eggs were cooked nicely on my Benedict. If I go back, I'll ask them if they can make the potatoes more crispy because they all just kind of mushed together into a blob. read more

We came on a Friday morning. We were able to sit inside right away and the host was very friendly. Our server was another story. Not very friendly at all and when my friend asked for her eggs medium well because she didn't want the yolks runny he made a face and said that's called medium. well it wasn't because her eggs were still runny but she just ate them anyway. Asked for the hashbrowns crispy didn't get them that way and over all the food was OK it was just two eggs bacon hashbrowns and toast. I guess the best part was the toast so that's not saying much. A large fresh squeeze orange juice with eight dollars and bitter but it's always a crapshoot with oranges so I just dtank it. I also ordered a cilantro chicken soup to take home to my husband and neither one of us could eat it as it was terrible. No seasoning and no flavor and also no chicken. I know people love this place and I wanted to love it too especially since I was bringing my friend from out of town but there are much better options around although I doubt you could beat the location! Well this is a 1st! Our favorite beach cafe for the last 35 years with the best food , owner and normally servers was a huge disappointment! The food still great but as we were parking one of the servers Evva...swung in front of us, cutting us off and parked in the space we intended to park and then got out of her car yelling "did we call her a bitch" ...I think that was her guilty conscience because I actually said...Wow...that was aggressive" she proceeded into the restaurant ...as luck should have it...Evva brought our food to us (after ignoring us for some time) and set it down with a plunk and huge attitude...no "I'm sorry- that was rude of me" or any type of apology ... super bad vibe! Want Kevin to know this cuz there's no excuse to have our beautiful morning ruined by the attitude and rudeness of one of his employees! read more

BEST BRUNCH IN Hermosa. Local vibes, ocean views, neighborhood patio kind of place with something on the menu for everyone . It can get busy with long lines but you can stroll the beach while you wait or visit on a weekday for a better chance at quick service. As someone who has to eat gluten free, I love the steak and eggs bowl with cheesy hasbrowns :) 10/10 reccomend. He was telling me to hurry up and decide what I wanted, when I was just asking regular questions about the menu. Then I asked him what substitutes I could make and he says I could do a salad instead but failed to mention that it will be an additional four dollars. The food that arrived wasn't the correct thing so I had to send it back. It was just a mess. I never write a one star review unless there are at at least three things wrong with the place.
