Salesman lied to me, plain and simple. I live in Chenoa, Il and drove 2.4 hrs to their dealership due to the salesman telling me that the Honda Odyssey was VERY clean inside and out. When we got there, they had me to start the paper work and DID ask me if I wanted to drive or look at the van. I told them I had a very good conversation with ERIC, the salesman in question and he told me that it was ion excellent shape. He also told me he test drove it and it drove fine. We were trying to beat the Chicago area traffic and I felt we did not have the time to test drive and look van over. Besides; I was told everything was fine. ERIC did tell me that there was a very small tear in the drivers side arm rest. I will say it was rather dark where they had it parked inside I drove it home and noticed a little vibration when I applied the brakes. Did not think it was a big deal. When I saw in the natural daylight, I was somewhat taken back, as there was a "tarish" 3 in. x6 in mark on the back passenger door panel. I worked and worked on getting it off for about 90 minutes. Why wasn't I told about that? They said they did not see it. The front brakes and rotors had to be replaced. After a 25 minute conversation with "Vido" he did agree to pay for the cost of getting new ones installed. The entire back area of the van (interior) is badly scratched, all over. (vinyl walls on both sides, back cargo door looks like it has been inn a war. It is going to cost me $625.00 to get it fixed. Vido" said"Who really cares about that? No one will notice. I have also had to have a lower ball joint installed at the cost of $167.00. The vinyl framing on the windshield came off, on both sides. I had to have it replaced at $330.00. The interior headliner had to be cleaned-$120.00-grease on it in several places. I knew better than to call James Motors for any help, as it was exhausting getting money to fix the brakes. I am 71 yrs old with Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Arthritis. I do not do well with confrontation. I was lied to by James Motors. They knew I lived 2.25 hrs. away from their dealership and was hoping I wouldn't notice the problems, which I have already explained the situation with the timing and such. Great experience with salesperson Eric. No hassle, professional, responsive, easy transaction. We quickly agreed upon a fair sale price in a very competitive market. Absolutely no complaints with Eric and highly recommend. However, took away one star because lax covid protocols. As a customer wearing a mask I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that the staff I'm directly interacting with wears their mask too. I'm severely immunocompromised. Their finance man dealt with me the entire time without a mask and complained about the Chicago teachers not going back to school. I wasn't there to hear his political views. read more

Outstanding Service experience. My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland had a couple of intermittent nagging issues that have eluded proper diagnoses by my local dealer. I've had a recurring issue with the stop start system, including replacing the Intelligent Battery Sensor. I also had some drivetrain noise that happened some time after 5,000 miles, but would not present itself at my dealer visits, and finally, while my hood was adjusted to improve the flutter, at speeds ~ 75 MPH, there was still some residual flutter. I am currently between jobs, and there is a possibility that I will be making a Chicago to Houston drive in the upcoming week or so. I decided to check out a smaller dealer about 20 minutes from me; James Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Hampshire IL. I called last Wednesday, and they told me to be at the service center when it opened at 7:30 on Thursday. I had explained the issues to John the Service Manager, and he hooked me up with one of his Techs, Aaron. A quick test drive confirmed the drive train issue; Hanger Bearing failure that would require a drive shaft. The concern that was that the part was back-ordered until mid-February. John said that he would work with the FCA District Manager to see if there was any way to get the part sooner. Meanwhile, the Stop Start system required another Battery Test, and while the battery passed, the stop start still was not operating properly. After some additional testing, they decided to re-calibrate the IBS, and finally to swap the battery. That solved the issue. (Similar to other reports, the battery will sometimes test OK, but not be up to snuff. I left for the day hoping that they could improve the driveshaft delivery. On Monday I got a phone call from Alex, the Service Adviser, and the part had just shown up! I got the car there on Tuesday, and they installed the new drive shaft, and also did the star case hood alignment procedure. Now the hood is solid as a rock to 85 MPH! I know that often folks come to Yelp to discuss poor service at their local dealers. At James CJDR, all the people there including the Service Manager, Service Adviser, Tech, and FCA District Manager did an outstanding job. They understood, and then solved my issues, and kept me informed every step of the way. Kudos to them! read more

Bought another vehicle from Rusty today, our 5th we've bought through him. Everything we've always experienced even when John Fenzel owned the dealership still applies. My old car finally bit the dust on Sunday, found a good truck and called Rusty in Monday to see if he would hold it. Indeed he did, and had it ready for us to test drive this morning. Although used, I found that given the mileage of the vehicle they had it priced VERY competitively with KBB. I won't disclose final price but Rusty did us solid on this one. Side note, you can also trust the service techs here. I sat in dealership this morning and had to ask Manager Mark why he is not wearing mask, while customers were sitting in waiting room with no mask, the mechanics were getting coffee next to me not wearing masks and the office person using copier next to me not wearing mask. Not sure why there is a sign on door requiring masks or why I bothered wearing one when your staff put my health at risk. I do know one thing for sure, you lost this customer and I am currently in market for new car. If you are afraid of loosing money because you ask customers to wear a mask, look how much money you lost today with me when I was going to look at new jeeps. Plus very inconvenient for customers waiting for car to be done when you don't have wifi. Oh and the last two times I have been there, they did not complete a simple task as setting the clock.
