Having an older car (2002), I have been to several mechanics throughout the years for all milestone and unexpected fixes. Most recently after moving to a new area in Phoenix this past fall, I went to Martin's. One of my co-workers had researched mechanics in the area and found them. She insisted they had the best prices for their quality service. I completely agree and I can hands-down say the customer service and quality of care is beyond 5 out of 5 stars. I worked primarily with Glenn and he ensured to listen to my needs any made recommendations based on my budget. David and Glenn are really good guys. Hard to find people to trust in a 'big' city. Was recommended by someone I trusted greatly and have been a regular there with three different cars for two and a half years. Will do good honest work and not charge you for services you don't request. Glenn will often put together a list of things that can be done to better the car, but never push me to get a sale, honestly recommends needed repairs but respects my budget and time. They even offer rides when you need them. They will pick you up too. Other mechanics are real friendly too. Do yourself a favor, relax and give em a call. read more

I took my car to Martin's at the suggestion of the former shop I went to that recently closed. While Martin's was helpful and seemed to do competent work, I thought their prices were among the highest I've encountered. My gripe is with the laundry list of suggested work that was recommended. Some of their report was untrue. Some of the suggested work was not recommended by the manufacturer. Some of the suggested mileage between recommended work was either too short or totally unnecessary. When I responded to their emails about these issues I never got a response. A word to the wise: know thine own vehicle and don't fall for unnecessary recommended work...at expensive prices. I regret having to post this. read more

Here's the bottom line...I didn't leave a "happy" customer, by definition. But only because I ended up shelling out $800 for unavoidable repairs...that fact alone didn't put me in a good mood. But with that being said, the staff at Martin's Auto Repair treated me very well. They were cordial, explained in detail all the possible outcomes, and were able to complete my service in the same day. They also did a complimentary inspection and gave recommendations for future service. The ladies in the waiting area were very nice as well, and offered me a beverage while I waited. read more

These guys took me in first thing in the morning even though they had a full day scheduled. I was having issues with my Stabilitrak and traction control system. The problem was diagnosed and fixed in a few short hours even with a full schedule. I even overheard a conversation with the technician telling the customer they were going to cover the repair cost related to their vehicle since they had worked on a supporting part in the past. Usually a shop will tell you to find the receipt and bring it in to them before they will ever cover work that they've done in the past but this was the complete opposite. You just don't get that these days!! It's extremely out of my way to go to the shop but I will continue to bring my business back here. read more

I needed a brake job and oil change on my Honda. A friend told me about Martin's Automotive, as he has been using them for over 10 years. When I arrived, they quickly did an inspection and needed to order parts. They were happy to give me a ride home, because I didn't feel like waiting. Martin's auto repair shop is now my go-to mechanic! They are very upfront about wanting to provide the best service for your car or truck. If you want things fixed right the first time, this is the garage to go to. They refuse to do a band-aid fix that is not going to not last. They explained all of the work needing to be done and why. I was looking for an honest mechanic and found even more than I was expecting here. I was quoted a price at another garage for 100$ more and didn't really have a great vibe about the guy. I did a random Internet search for 'honest mechanic' in Phoenix and Google serendipitously brought me to Martin's Yelp page. I called and spoke with Glen there and they were able to get my vehicle in the next day. They gave me a fair quote and a helpful list of maintenance items to be aware of for the future if I chose to repair them. Everyone that I spoke with here was really kind, personable, and knowledgeable. I have taken my car here many times for job that I wouldn't be able do. The technicians are great and the people are wonderful. They have done excellent work for me before and did it at a great price. Even when something went wrong one time at the shop with my car, they let me there car and replaced the pieces that broke off. I would recommend this shop to everyone. But my last service was not so good, I was not happy I scheduled an appointment weeks in advance and they didn't have a price quoted. I have had other work done that was so great, I didn't bother to research other shops. so when i dropped my car off the night before to have the big job done that i needed, they didn't even touch it till the afternoon of the following day. I know the job called for 18 hrs worth of work, they needed the two days i gave them to finish the job. When i finally got my quote, it was beyond outrages. The price quote was half the cars value and i started to shop around to other shops. The other shops on my side of town were quoted me about a 3rd of what Martin's Auto Repair was, i was disappointed, to me the shop didn't even want to do the job. If that was the case, I wish they would have told me instead of wasting my time and gas since i live in Surprise and they about 30 min from my house. read more

Have been going to Martin's for several years and have been always very satisfied. I "washed" my Toyota key fob while doing laundry and lost the alarm/door open/lock function. Dealer wanted $350 for a new key. Martin's got me out the door with 2 new keys, 1 repaired key and a new plain non- electronic function key for $187. These guys are GREAT! read more

Used to go to Hargrave's Auto down the road. They went out of business for whatever reason and when I took my car there they told me they sold their accounts to these people. My car was supposed to be covered under the warranty as I was told they would honor that. However, they wanted to charge me $80 to do a diagnostic run of it for the AC system. I then called this one mechanic a bit further away that I was happy with (Simon's Auto) and he told me it would be of no cost to run the diagnostics. Moreover, the fix was $80 as opposed to $160 from Martin's. As it turned out, Simon's had opened up another shop just around the corner from these people. I should also note that I had stopped going to Hargrave's because the repair after the AC they were $200.00 cheaper than Hargrave's. That said, I did like Hargrave's overall because I did feel they were honest. But check out Simon's, they are awesome and trustworthy. read more

In regards to my original review, I am very displeased. I originally had nothing but nice things to say about Martins as it seemed they genuinely did well the first couple times I went there. I too thought they were honest and did good work despite their sky rocket prices. I had come in last summer due to problems with my A/C blowing hot air. For as long as I have owned my car I have always had problems with it blowing hot air every June. I use to take it to Gabs as they would usually recharge and send me on my way. Since I had recently started using Martins I decided to take it there instead for my A/C problem. Martins told me that there was absolutely nothing they could do for me and that it wasn't even capable of holding a charge for 5 mins because it was leaking out at such an enormous rate. They told me they would not even try to charge it.They did however, tell me they could replace my compressor, filter dryer, and expansion valve for $1600 and that this was the only way it would ever work again. They didn't even attempt to help me in any way and sent me back on my way 1 hour away from home in June with a small child and no A/C. In the end, I got hustled and lost $800 and am now stuck with a brand new $500 compressor in my closet that I am unable to return. The fanciest part of the whole thing is that low and behold I'm STILL using the same old compressor in my car, the one from last summer (1 year ago) that Martins said would never hold a charge again! I haven't been back since and I will not be "trusting" Martins anymore. read more

Yep Martin's is as good as it gets! Been going to Martin's for well over 21 years now. I recently got my 85+ mother in law to go to Martin's and she has been very pleased.. They are absolutely reliable, totally honest, and Dave Marin is a damn nice guy. They may not undercut the prices of Pep Boys etc but they have saved me a ton of money by not doing work that was not necessary or not justified by the age and value of my vehicles. I have NO idea how this shop has so many good reviews. I had THE worst experience ever here and it seems like they don't know what they're doing. I brought my car to get my side mirror replaced i started driving and they didn't set up my camera so I called them to let them know and I had to take time out of my day the next day to bring it in again. Got there they said it'll take 30 minutes and I said that's fine I have to be at work in a hour. It came close to that and they still weren't done. I left and they didn't call me back until 2 pm. I get there and the camera angle is messed up and not where I had it so they suggested for me to come back the next day and AGAIN take time out of my day because they couldn't do it right the first time. After that I noticed MY WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED and if I noticed it there I would've noticed if that was there before. They kept telling me there's no way it was them they barely drove the car... either way it doesn't matter anything around could've hit it. They look at their cameras and said they don't have any good angles of when I pulled up but when they took it to the back there was a crack and all the manager did was argue with me like I'm not already frustrated enough. Don't go here unless you want even more problems with your car. read more

The shop and waiting area is clean, they return calls immediately and I really trust that my car is in good hands. Wish I could have wrote a better review about this place. The mechanic i spoke with Was a nice guy an i felt confident the work would be quick and easy. I had some repairs on my truck. I was expecting it to take a couple of days and was expecting to spend up to a grand. The work was done and the vehicle passed emissions. BUT, within a day of getting the vehicle back the check engine light came on and now my a/c does not work. I popped the hood to see about the battery (as it was suppose to be replaced, it was) and under the hood there were bolts sitting on the side by the battery. I have no idea if they belong to my vehicle. There was also a rag tucked on the other side of the hood. The plastic cover on my neg. battery cable was sitting by the valve cover instead of being put back on or discarded. And the wiring harness which was accessed during the repair was not rewrapped and the wire that was worked on was completely exposed. I wanted to take the truck back but I was pretty soured on the lack of care for the work that was done. I will keep looking for a mechanic that gives me more bang for my buck. read more

I have been taking my cars to Martins Auto Repair for many years. I love the staff, they are always so friendly and helpful. I trust them completely when it comes to my autos. Before I go on a road trip with my family, I always have Martins check out my car. My car runs so well because of the great mechanics and staff at Martins. I had a 1999 vehicle I just sold a little over a year ago, and Dave Martin and his crew helped me keep it running smoothly until I decided to purchase another vehicle. When I did decide to sell and purchase another vehicle, Dave Martin went out of his way to help me sell my old vehicle. GREAT PLACE, GREAT PEOPLE, would not trust anyone else to work on my vehicles. I went to this auto shop about a year ago and they wanted to charge me $1k for replacing valve cover gaskets and other odds and ends. Well, I just went to Highland Auto in Chandler and they did the work for $376! They are really friendly at Martin's, but I ended up spending over $700 there and didn't have my original issue fixed. :( read more

My Volkswagen Golf was making a weird groaning noise every time I turned or went over a speed bump. Sickened at the thought of how expensive this mysterious noise would be to fix as a kid straight out of college, I searched for a reasonable place around where I live. Martin's came up on Yelp and were willing to schedule me immediately. I brought my car in and then went to work, nervously awaiting the phone call with the quote. To my great surprise, they fixed the creaking problem for free by tightening some loose bolts and charged me for a simple, low maintenance fee. They also gave me a full diagnostic, saying what I should probably fix soon and how much they would charge. They didn't pressure me to complete any of these fixes, though I opted for a battery replacement and fuel filter replacement. My car was done the same day after work and the price was totally fair. So impressed. My car is running great and I feel a lot more comfortable after them explaining what was going on. I am by no means a "car person" so this is a great step in adulting for me. read more

They are good people who I feel truly care about their customers and service. What tops the cake is the fact that they provide rides for customers who need them. Being a young female who knows nothing about cars, I have gone to a good amount of auto repair shops who have ripped me off for services. They did an AC job and charged me good on my car however just going by the yelp rating i decided to move ahead and i was told its perfect now and there wont be any problem and not even two months went by and i figured my AC stopped working completely and now when i went back to these guys i was told that's something diff and its not what they worked on...how come that was not caught by the experts . I have several great stories of the service and care provided by Martin's. One of my favorites is that Mr. Martin, and then Dave himself, stayed late one night and talked me out of driving out of town in what they viewed as my mechanically unsafe truck. They provided me a loaner car that night and to use around town the next day so they could keep my truck, and repair it the following day. I was then able to travel safely without worry. Also, I would bet that both Mr. Martin and Dave slept better knowing that I was not traveling in an unsafe vehicle. Thank you guys. Another story involves my wife's auto repair price comparisons with our friends and other repair facilities. She/we found that Martin's was very competitive for the services they provided. Lastly, while my vehicle was in the shop for an unrelated problem, it was noted that my battery was also going bad. Since the battery was under warranty, they simply took the initiative to make the exchange and the repairs, saving me considerable time and frustration of having to replace the battery on my own or re-schedule a return visit. This shop had been recommended to me by a family member. I didn't call for an appointment and put off what I needed for several weeks. When I did call Martin's I was in a panic and needed unexpected urgent help with my son's truck. They were beyond helpful, responsive, identified the problem, and had the truck on the round again in no time. I became an instant fan. A few days later I took my car in. Their inspection identified the source of my concern and also identified other safety issues. I really do miss taking my car here only because the staff is super friendly (Dave and his dad). Unfortunately I can't bring my car here again. I had my brakes done and for almost a full year they've never stopped squeaking. Now I know what you're thinking, I should have gone back immediately and had them fix what was wrong, but the more I thought about it the more I got angry about it. I shouldn't have to take my car back to have it looked at after spending 400.00 plus on car repair. I took my car somewhere else and was told that after market brakes and pads were used on my car. I didn't have them fix it and my car still sounds horrible when I come to a stop. I'm currently looking for a new auto shop and I am still really sad that I won't be going to Martin's anymore. I've given them a lot of money to take care of my car and I really do feel like they played me as a fool. read more
