The sad baked potatoe. So tiny
    JemuelnleAnne M.

The food was awful and the handed dirty sugar packets for an expensive dinner this was awful. $50 steaks were nervy and tough and the expensive baked potato was a joke. Waitress was nice but overall not a $300 dinner for 4. I recommend you lower your prices to match your quality of meats, sides and service. What's mistake!!

My Sales Team and I went to Martyrs for dinner while in Taos. We were all very impressed with the food and service. My double pork chop was cooked to perfection. My team also complimented the salmon and Rib Eye steak dishes. Sides were a bit small but very tasty- especially the creamed spinach! For dessert, get the Lemon cake. It was better than the Volcano cake w/ice cream and the Creme Brulee. The service was very good! I would highly recommend!!!

Great dining experience with a wonderful patio and indoor dining on white table cloth! We enjoyed the food so much we had some delicious dessert. The staff is very attentive. And in true Taos fashion you do not need to dress up to enjoy.

We've been hit or miss with Martyrs lately but decided to try again around 1pm. Most folks were seated outside and then a huge tour bus came in; perhaps this is why our wait staff went from barely helpful to non-existent, although I did see here hanging out with the hostess quite a bit. That was the service side. They're just understaffed and undertrained. The food was spot on, however. Light, flavorful carbonara sauce, a nice portion of pasta and uncured bacon. Very good. And their iced tea isn't dusty tasting. It's got a very clean flavor.

Was looking for a fancy dinner in Taos and thought this was the perfect place. Called for a reservation for one at 7:00, the lady on the phone was nice and respectful. I showed up and was seated at the perfect table for a private dinner alone, also had a cute little reserved place card which made it feel special. I ordered the filet with a side of broccolini, which all came out within 15 minutes and was delicious and perfectly cooked. My server recommended a great wine to go with my filet. Afterwards I ordered their Lava cake with a side of vanilla ice cream, it was so rich and creamy. If ever in Taos again will definitely go back!

The best restaurant in Taos. Period. Wonderfully prepared creative dishes using local ingredients, combining traditional Southwest foods with modern, intelligent preparation and presentation. The ambiance is tranquil, friendly and romantic. Choose two outside locations, or half a dozen rooms inside, all intimate and beautifully decorated as if inside an art gallery. There are about six diffent cuts of prime beef offered from chateaubriand, to ribeye. Heritage pork, roast chicken, rainbow trout, etc. there are also some pasta dishes and nightly specials. But if you want to scale it back a bit go with the black angus burger, enchiladas or tostadas. Better yet, stick with the tapas -- order a few and make a meal out of it.

Situated just a mile north of the Taos "hub" Hacienda del Sol is an oasis of tranquility, luxury, and hospitality. The rooms are immaculate (complete with a wood burning fireplace begging to be lit and enjoyed). The grounds are beautifully manicured with local garden decorations and plenty of Adirondack chairs for basking in the sun under Taos Mountain's shadow. You can't paint a better view. Mark and Gerd serve the most delicious of breakfasts each morning. I enjoyed the fruit cup starter with only the freshest fruits, followed by options including French toast, pancakes, biscuits and green chili gravy, cheese omelette, skillet potatoes and eggs, eggs any style, and, of course, bacon. I looked forward to waking up and joining other guests each morning to see what new delicious options we would be offered. I enjoyed the privacy of the individual hot tub times. You can sign up for 30 minute slots throughout the day, 7 days a week, to enjoy an intimate hot tub time with your party. There are some dog-friendly rooms, so bring Fido! They do have some ground rules with the dogs (cannot be left alone in rooms and no sleeping on the bed). Please be respectful guests so that they may continue their hospitality towards canine guests as well. Be sure to bring a crate if you do intend to leave for any amount of time. There are many restaurants just steps from Hacienda del Sol and the staff will be happy to make recommendations or reservations at your request. Within 30 minutes you can be at Taos Ski Valley, Rio Grande Gorge Trails (25 min drive), the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (12 min drive), downtown (5 min drive), a grocery and liquor store (6 min walk), wine country (40 min drive), and Santa Fe (1hr30 drive). Simply put, we had the most magical experience and cannot wait to make Taos and Hacienda Del Sol an annual vacation spot.

The bedsheets are super soft and the mattress is comfy. We used the steam shower in our bathroom after a long hike up Wheeler Peak and wished the hot tub had been open. We would love to have used the kiva fireplace, but mid-summer isn't the season for an indoor fire. Breakfast was delicious, in a beautiful setting with stunning views of Taos Peak and friendly service. A few quirks: the room lighting is a little dark once the sun goes down; there were cobwebs in the ceiling vigas that need to be vacuumed away; the southwest style bent willow chairs could use a thicker seat cushion; the bath soap smells heavenly, but the shampoo and lotion are uninteresting. But, we didn't go to Taos for the shampoo. We went for the scenery, the hiking, the starry night, the "enchanting". This B&B knows how to bring the enchanting.

My partner and I recently celebrated our anniversary and went to Taos, New Mexico to check it out…read moreas we had never been. This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.
