I was craving popcorn chicken so badly, and Ume Tea is one of those rare places these days that does good Taiwanese popcorn chicken and good boba! There's not too much breading on the popcorn chicken, and the flavor is so good. I also got the curly fries, which could have been seasoned a little more, but were til still really good. For a drink today, I tried the Oreo Crème Brulee Boba Milk Tea, which is sweet and chocolatey and creamy. The boba quality at Ume is also really good, and I've tried other drinks here too -- all of which have been great! Parking was easy (there's a parking lot), and service was quick and super friendly! I have been gravitating toward the Mango Pomelo Sago drink everywhere I go, so of course I had to try Ume Tea's version. I was actually very impressed by how good it was. Theirs includes coconut milk, which adds a subtle creaminess to balance out the fruitiness of the drink. I generally order my boba at 100% sweet, but the 70% sweet here was plenty for me. Still mediocre AF. Their milk pudding boba is the ONLY type of good drink they have. I like the taro one. The rest all taste low quality or fake. I only bought from here because I didn't want to wait and DoorDash boba all the way from 3Cat in Koreatown. Most of the drink here are terrible, not crafted well and inconsistent in ingredients. I've never stepped inside the store but paid extra $5 for a surprise cup off DoorDash thinking I would get an extra large drink, but ended up with a giant paper cup that was hollow on the bottom. We've been here a lot more than we'd like to admit but that just shows how good this boba tea shop is! Granted, it's one of the only ones near where we live. However, I'm not one to settle for mediocre bubble tea. Parking is in a plaza and we never really have trouble finding a spot at the times we've gone (which was usually in the afternoon or night time). The shop is definitely more of a grab and go place as there aren't really tables or chairs to sit down and enjoy your drink or snack. There's some seating inside, but I think it's really for customers to sit and wait for their order because it can get really busy. The store itself is actually really cute though with a lot of pink and fun colors so 11/10 for design and vibes! They have a fabulous and unique selection of drinks and food which makes the extra drive out of UCLA/Sawtelle worth it - they have great and fresh popcorn chicken and takoyaki! Stopped in this weekend for our first time because we both had our usual Boba craving and wanted to try someplace new. I am happy to say that Ume exceeded expectations and I already want to go back again to try more flavors. As with most Boba places they have a lot of great options on the menu and all different types of drinks. It was really hard to choose just one drink so I ended up choosing two. Parking is pretty easy in this area and pricing is fair. We decided to order via the kiosk and everything that we ordered was ready within 8 minutes. Inside is pretty small, there aren't any tables to eat in, but there are some tables to wait while your food is being prepared. It is definitely more of a to-go type of place. For my first time I wanted to try one of their classics and one of their newer drinks. I ordered the Crème Brûlée Boba and really loved it. It had the flavors that I expected and it was perfectly sweet. I also ordered a new drink which was the Strawberry Yogurt Slush with Crystal Boba. I will say that I prefer traditional or popping Boba more than crystal Boba, but still the liquid flavors in it were very good. I would just replace the crystal Boba if I were to order it again. I've also heard that their chicken is really good so next time I will try some of their savory items. I would definitely recommend to any fan of Boba. read more

First of all, the shop has an adorable bunny-theme that carries into its interior and packaging which I adore! Secondly, the curly fries are bomb. Ohh Ume..where I like to spend most of my money to get a caffeine jolt. This is my favorite local boba shop because of the drinkable mochi.. no other place in the area compares. The staff is always so helpful and friendly, even when I need adjustments to my drink. I've been coming for years and their drinks are consistently good quality. My usual order is the black ceylon milk tea with boba & drinkable mochi which is the best when the toppings are still warm. The boba is nice & chewy, with a hint of sweetness. Sometimes I go for the green tea jelly which is a nice topping option. I always get 0% sweetness and they always get it right. There isn't much seating here so it's not really a lounge area. There are a couple of long seats for when you're waiting and the wait time isn't too bad. It does get busy, especially after school hours and on weekends. We got the Taro Shake w/ boba and Thai tea. The Taro is under the caffeine free section and the drink indicated that it came with real taro and comes with boba by default. When you customize it didn't allow you to remove the boba. The milk option was either milk or oat. Thai tea (under milk tea section of the menu) was good but wow the taro was sooo good. I was worried about the boba being hard but it was perfect. The Taro shake was so good that I would want to go back for more. But the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the Thai tea was good but not amazing. And the service seemed like the employees weren't really enjoying their job. I've been here before maybe a year or 2 ago and happened to be in the area so I stopped by for a refreshing milk tea! I got 0% sweet so with a salted cream top so that I can add a teeny bit of my own agave at home. A few of the comments were complaining of the 30% sugar being too sweet and I'm very sweet sensitive so this was a good move for me. The tea did indeed have a nice floral note to it and the cream top paired nicely with it. If you don't plan to add your own sweetener later, I wouldn't go for 0% sweet as by itself, it's too milky- stick with at least 30 or maybe ask them to reduce that by a bit. A touch of sweetener actually often brings out the tea flavor in these kinds of drinks. Parking is easy as they have a lot and I recommend you stop by! We came on a late afternoon on a weekday and the place was busy. Service was still swift and friendly. We ordered a regular size Jasmine green milk tea with boba, avocado mango slushy with mango popping boba and white peach oolong milk tea with strawberry popping boba, all in regular size. All of this totaled $21 and change. Both the Jasmine green milk tea and the avocado mango slushy were a hit, however, there the white peach along received and okay review. Not bad for two out of three. All in all, this place was on par with most other boba tea shops.
