We were here on a weekday evening , and we got a table fairly quickly. The interiors at this place is really beautiful. There are quite a few tables , but can see it get full pretty quickly. We tried the following : Tiramisu: 3/5. This had a strong coffee taste which was pretty good , however the base was a little hard to get through with a spoon. Crème brûlée : 4/5. This was definitely tastier. It had good texture. Lavender latter: 4/5. This had a good a flavor of lavender. It was on the sweeter side. The total for these 3 items was 30$. Chocolate swirl croissant is a mix of a jelly donut and a normal croissant, except it doesn't do either justice. Unlike a normally good croissant, it is NOT "crispy on the outside chewy on the inside". It's not crispy. It also does NOT have the fluffy and airy texture of a jelly donut. There's many things that Marvel Cake does right, and one of them is their spiral croissants! They have pistachio, strawberry, hazelnut chocolate, and their new item - matcha. They also have seasonal flavours like pumpkin, that was definitely a favourite. There's many layers of the croissant, and in the centre is a generous amount of filling! Make sure you come early, because after three or 4 pm, they are usually out with the spiral croissants. However they still do have many baked goods for sale after. My partner and I often come from San Jose just to pick up our spiral croissants from here. If you get a chance, enjoy your baked goods in store because they have a very cute shop inside, it's a good spot to meet with friends and catch up. read more

Last time i came here on a weekday afternoon they ran out of their special croissants. We got the pistachio and strawberry does croissants. I finally got a taste of the spiral croissant. It's great as everyone said! I took a bite of the passion fruit mango and liked how the flavors are light & creamy. I wish there wasn't so much cream inside so I could taste more of the actual bread which had a soft and fluffy texture. I also picked the chocolate, pistachio & got a 4th croissant for free! To make the visit worth the time, I ordered a latte and sat down to have a me time with my croissant. It did not dissapoint. The moment the bakery opened, I was there. I was in fact the first customer. Not long after I got my purchase, several customers walked in. It got busy quick. They only serve so many croissants and they run out pretty fast. So if you want to try the spirals, come early, as much as possible as soon as they open. The outdoor patio is pretty nice. Their overall design is so Frenchy and inviting. Will check out the Palo Alto location for sure. Last week I tried the lemon tart and vanilla cupcake. I've baked cupcakes before and their vanilla cupcake is fluffy and moist. The whipped frosting is lightly sweet and I like that it does not overwhelm. Im not a fan of cupcakes with a ton of frosting on it so will definitely come back for more. I wished I got two instead of one ;-) The lemon tart has a light lemony flavor and ate the whole thing. I really love the sweet atmosphere with many delicate desserts selection. Pink Rose Latte I got the 16oz pink rose latte. It was super cute and with a hint of smell of rose. We made a 30 minute detour to check out Marvel Cake specifically after seeing it on IG, and it was absolutely worth it. This bakery was so professional, clean, and high-quality. We got an assortment of pastries and coffees and everything was amazing. The staff was all wonderful, but especially Dalia who made the whole experience a 10/10 for us with her excellent service and kindness. We made an extra special trip to this bakery to try their spiral croissants and ended up staying to have a full tea session. Let me just say that I was pleasantly pleased at how wonderfully orchestrated the pastry/dessert counter was crafted. All the delicious pastries and desserts are arranged in a glass case+which I'm assuming in refrigerated?). Presentation is key; we may not have ordered so many items had they all not been displayed in such an elaborate manner. They have a good array of beverages to choose from; we ordered teas and coffees that complimented the delicate sweets very well. You have the option to stay and enjoy your treats in their beautiful bakery or take your items to go. We visited a bit later in the day so it wasn't busy, so we decided to stay. There's seating in the main part of the bakery, outside, and a back parlor area which was minimally adorned with small touches that gave the room a very clean look and feel. We chose the parlor and could not have been more happy with our choice as it provided for a little more privacy. The staff was fairly friendly and all seemed to stay busy. I liked that none of them were standing around on their phones doing nothing. Everyone seemed to be doing something productive during our entire visit. We did stay a bit longer than anticipated and never once felt rushed by the staff. Although I was under the impression everything after the initial delivery of beverages would be self serve, I was gladly surprised some of the staff members would occasionally check on us to see if everything was well and if we needed anything else. My foodie buddy and I went on a drive for pastries and donuts. Marvel was on the list. In midst of a strip mall, this hidden gem is a bakery for high tea. On the outer side us the bakery counter and the inner side sits the dining room. Looks like a fun place for high tea and pastries. We each ordered our croissant and rolls. I had a roll that was heavy to the weight, chocolate on one edge and inside and cream on top. It was fabulous and unexpected pleasure. Came here Saturday morning for their spiral croissants. Got one of each of their 3 flavors - chocolate, pistachio, and pumpkin spice. They were all delicious. The croissants are a little harder and coarser than typical butter croissants, which I assume is intentional in order to hold the cream filling. Also, given the cream filling, I would say that these croissants are dessert pastries rather than bread or breakfast foods, so be prepared for the sugar load. The space is cute and fancy which makes the whole experience a special treat. The one criticism I have is that the drinks took a long time to come out (and all we ordered was coffee). read more

I was finally able to come in to try the viral spiral croissants! There was already a line as soon as they open. They also only allow one of each flavor croissant per person, so 4 max. The interior was super clean and aesthetic, I wish I could've sat down. I got the hazelnut (5/5), strawberry (3/5), and chocolate (4/5). I bought them in the morning and o my was able to eat them later that day, but they still held up really well. We just heated them in the oven a bit before. The strawberry just didn't have the best flavor to me. The hazelnut was super good and reminded me of Nutella. All of them had a great flaky croissant exterior and was filled with the cream. Simply beautiful and elegant! Beautiful desserts, flawless glossy cakes and glamorous pastry. The shop is elegantly decorated inside with spotlessly clean mirrors and glass, chic furniture and pretty flowers in each table. The drink menu is also good! We tried lavender latte, pink rose latte, red velvet mocha and matcha latte. All flavorful! Tried passion fruit tart, sweet and sour blend of refreshing taste; pistachio tart, layers of flavor and not over sweet; Napoleons, interestingly presented and light and flaky; like them all! The royal hazelnut is a bit too sweet for our taste. Service is great. They let us merge tables and the utensils are silverware (not plastic!). I saw Marvel Cake on instagram (highlighting the spiral croissants) and was so excited to try it out! I've been once before and previously had a matcha crepe cake and their red velvet latte. I wasn't thoroughly impressed then, but I decided to give it another shot and see if I could get the spiral croissants. When I went with a friend over Thanksgiving week, there's clearly a lot of attention paid to the presentation of their pastries and the interior design. It's an adorable tea room with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. When we got there around 4pm, there was a pretty extensive line, which was surprising to me given that it was a weekday. By that time, their spiral croissants had long been sold out, so if you're chasing after the instagram recommendation, you probably need to get there much earlier! My friend and I order two teas (opera blue and earl grey blue) and two pastries, a tiramisu crepe cake and a danish. Both pastries were taken out of the pastry case when we ordered, so we were expecting our whole tray with teas and pastries to come out fairly quickly, as all that was really needed was hot water. However, we waited for over 30 minutes, probably closer to 45 minutes, for our tea and pastries to come to our table. The tea came in a prepackaged bag, so it was really confusing to us why it took so long for our order to come out to us. If they were significantly backlogged from other orders, it might have been helpful to ask us if we would like to take the pastries we purchased to our table since there might be a wait for... a teapot with hot water. As far as the pastries themselves go, I was unimpressed by the tiramisu crepe cake. It was dry, didn't possess much coffee flavor, and honestly tasted more like a stack of rice paper with some coffee powder dusted on it than other crepe cakes that I've tried that are more moist and have nice cream fillings between the layers. I have been here once before and also tried their matcha crepe cake, and felt similarly. Perhaps crepe cakes aren't very good if they've been left out too long? Either way, I personally won't be getting their crepe cakes again. I also tried a bite of the danish, and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't particularly good. Lastly, the price! The four items we got were an eye-watering ~$40 for a couple cups of tea and two pastries! I don't think the teas were particular standouts either, so the whole thing felt more made for instagram than for tastebuds or value. With the inefficient service and the disappointing meal, I unfortunately won't be returning to Marvel Cake again. read more

While the cream to croissant ratio was highly variable, I ended up enjoying all of them. Personally, I liked pistachio the best, then strawberry and then followed up by the chocolate. With the spiral croissant craze lately, I first heard of this place through Instagram and decided to snag some on my day off! As far as I know, I think Marvel Cake's the only place in the South Bay that offers these types of croissants. I arrived less than 10 minutes before opening on a Thursday, and there were probably 8 parties ahead of me already. They actually opened doors before 10am, which was nice. My first impressions of the place were that it smelled incredible with that butter and pastry aroma and the inside was clean and cute with a Parisian feel. The girl who helped me was cheery and polite. Like all the other people in line, I got one of each spiral croissant: pistachio, strawberry, chocolate, and hazelnut (just dropped last week). Priced at $7.50 each, these croissants are hefty! The inside was loaded with cream. I'd probably enjoy them more if there was more croissant and less cream because I could barely finish one with how rich it was. But the flavors were nice and don't taste artificial at all (one of my biggest fears especially with strawberry flavored things), and the crispy, flaky exterior held together when cut in half. It was worth it to try out the spiral croissants for me, but for next time, I'll try their gorgeous patisserie desserts, which look and are priced similar to Maison Alyzee or Alexander's Patisserie. From the day I came back from NYC, after timing it perfectly to snatch one of the NYC Swirly Crossaunts, I was told Marvel CAUGHT on. I got to say, we waited in line at Marvel for a good min. They aren't EXACTLY the same but it's close enough. The concept here is a mix between Crossaunt/ Cream Puff. They have a cute room in the back for the ones that want to enjoy tea time and pastries! I literally was just looking for a snack after a big lunch so I found this place on Yelp. If I told you it was a $5.50 croissant youd look at me like I was stupid but if I gave you 12 of them you would eat all 12 without looking up. The cheesecake is very pretty, its cheesecake which is already perfect Fruit tart is perfect. The marscapone isn't too sweet which is my problem with some of these blueberry frangipanes I get at Whole Foods. The bride and groom are both developmentally delayed and dreamed of having a Disney Frozen-themed wedding.
