A staple if you're dining in Biloxi! Very old, very historical, very awesome restaurant! The tree in their outside patio is over 2000 years old. Ronald Reagan wrote Mary a letter when she was ill. Lots of cool historical references throughout the restaurant! The hot bread with fresh butter was a nice start. I had the crab cake appetizer as my meal. It was big, crunchy on the outside and minimal filling. Very fresh and tasty! I also got a small salad and the table ordered asparagus which was lightly buttered and perfectly done. we ended the evening with their homemade bread pudding (yum!). It was very "run" tasting but it is not real rum, its an imitation the server told us. It was yummy but not the best I've ever had. However it is their staple so I would recommend trying. Service was outstanding. Kept us overly hydrated with our waters which were always full and the Bellini martinis were amazing! The perfect blend of tart and sweet. Well Shit, this place wasn't on my radar but we saw it on TV and booked a reservation. My partner in crime booked us on the wrong week. I want up with my matching kids and met Alice. She was amazing, she also said no problem i will cancel your old reservation and we can squeeze you in. First get the crab claws.......holy crap they are good. Use the bread to dip into the buttery garlic sauce. My kids had freaking Prime Rib(it is a kids meal entree) and I thought they died and went to heaven. At lunch we shared a crab cake (delicious, all meat) cup of seafood gumbo (we are from Lafayette- it looked nasty.. but I had to try it- it was amazing!! Okra base, strong thyme flavor- but rich hearty stock. Almost like a soup. Trust me we don't like NOLA gumbo- but this was unique and delicious!). For the price, this place is overrated. Limited sides dishes, and the double baked potato wasn't anything special. In fact, a plain bake potato with butter and/or sour cream would have been better. I had the 12 oz ribeye and added a lobster tail. When they brought it to the table, the steak was raw. Had to send it back twice. My wife had the Ixolib fish. The fish had a spice, I think rosemary which didn't go well. The bill for two was $147.66 plus a thirty dollar tip. I know we'll never go back. Wait staff was great. read more

A couple of years ago we stopped by to grab dessert after a show. My father at the time was in his 80's and had Parkinson's. He was using a walker and unable to stand. We did not have a reservation, and were more than happy to wait. The hostess started off rude, rolling her eyes when (after being told the wait time) we said that would be fine. I requested a chair for my father to sit on while we waited, because he was unable to stand for a short amount of time. They refused a chair. They were rude to my ailing father. I refuse to go there. The surf and turf was served warm below standard desired temperature. The baked potato was pre made and also disappointed. The spinach shrimp and crab imperial was just ok. It was described on the menu to have pasta, there was no pasta. And why the iron dish? I didn't understand that at all. I wish I had gotten a picture of my food! My phone was acting up that day, so no pictures were able to be taken, but oh my goodness!!! I had the Veal Antonio, my boyfriend had the Queen Ixolib! He is a very picky eater, but he really enjoyed it. The veal Antonio was DIVINE!!! It needed a little salt, but other than that it was fine :) We ate with another couple. Our waiter, I wish I could remember his name, was so very helpful and answered every one of our questions concerning the entrees and specialties. The food and atmosphere here is great, but be prepared to spend a little too much money. A dinner for two came to $150, but it was a worthwhile experience. The service is too notch, but remember to call well ahead of time to book a reservation. The building is a really old colonial style historic home that has been converted into a busy restaurant. It's been around forever, and you get a feeling for it's cachet when you see all the pictures of former presidents and celebrities that have stopped by over the years. The drink I tried was the French 75, and it was a lot like a mimosa. A $15 mimosa. The charbroiled oysters were wonderful- as was the bread. One of the oysters had a pearl in it, so beware of shells and pearls... The main dish was one of their favorites- Shrimp and Lump crabmeat (St. Patrick). I'll be honest. This is a hidden gem that if you didn't know about it, you could easily overlook it. Thankfully, it has a great reputation and word of mouth. One of our friends recommended it and we made sure to stop by here, and were very thankful we did! Everything was quite delicious. I had the shrimp and lump crabmeat melba - a pasta dish that was great. As good as my meal was though, it was one upped by my wife's meal, the stuffed snapper, and it made me wish I had ordered that one instead. A coworker ordered the sisters of the sea au gratin. It was good, but very rich. All of the food was server with a side of aspargus, which was good as well. I mixed mine in with my pasta and was very happy with it. If you have a large party, definitely make a reservation. Seating could be an issue otherwise, especially since they stay pretty busy! First, let me say, I'm from the coast, but had not been to Mary Mahoneys in decades. My boyfriend and I tried walking in a few months ago, just for dessert, and were told we needed a reservation. Noted. Last night, we went, with a reservation! Expectations were high, I mean, it's got history! I ordered the stuffed triple tail, "The most popular item on the menu," according to the waiter. My guy got the surf n turf. We also had the fried green tomatoes and seafood augratin for our starters. We will not be back, and here's why. The fried green tomatoes were not homemade. They were plain, deep fried straight from a box. The crabmeat was the only thing that saved it. The augratin was creamy, and paired well with the bread, but needed less roux and more cheese. I will say the toasted cheese on top was toasted perfectly. The salad that came with my meal was iceberg lettuce laying in the bottom of my bowl with two pieces of spinach and two cherry tomatoes, placed on top, the ranch was on point though. The fish, which I assume WAS triple tail, was stuffed with a seafood mixture that included those frozen shrimp you commonly see on a Chinese buffet, you know the ones! On the side was plain noodles with a whole blanched tomato on top, no seasoning, at all. My guys steak was mediocre at best, but the lobster was tasty. For the reputation that comes with such a coast landmark, we were disappointed. Our expectations were pretty high, going in, then the menu prices elevated those expectations even higher. I was trying really hard not to order too much, but with such a great selection of items on the menu, I wanted to sample the items that immediately caught my attention. But not without the help from my lovely server, Miranda. She has been here for quite a few years and quite frankly, an expert on Mary Mahoney's offerings. First on my to-do list was the seafood gumbo. Nice and creamy, expertly seasoned and with plenty of okra, crawfish, and shrimp. Sooo good! Next up were the fried green tomatoes. Coated in Planko, gently fried, and topped with plenty of crab meat, and rich, but not too rich, béarnaise sauce. I think I could have finished the night off with eating just these. Absolutely divine. I rounded off the evening with Flounder Imperial, an expertly filleted succulent piece of fish stuffed with tons of crab meat. Wow! I called, made reservations letting them know we had 2 dogs. When we arrived (with my 85 year old mother on a walker and mentally handicap brother), they tell us we can't bring them.
