Tonight I went to the soft opening and they absolutely nailed it. The service was impeccable. The staff were patient and friendly. The ambiance is relaxing. The amount of wine they have is a lot but it's not overwhelming. This interactive menu allows you to sort through the wines so you can find something you love. I wanted to try a little of everything here so I indulged in the crab stuffed prawns and my oh my! I was absolutely floored by the Lobster sauce. I haven't tasted anything like that before. Then I moved on to the espresso cupcakes as anything TerriBerriez makes I'm up for trying and cupcake was moist, and it has hints of espresso in the cupcake and the Icing. I love that the espresso flavor didn't overpower the cake and they played well together. Next time I come I'm going to go for the caricature board as it would be nice to split with friends. My wine was the Seven Falls Cabernet and my boyfriend had a wine that he kept calling the scar. It was a forty dollar glass but worth it. This place isn't just a Winery it's an experience. Yes some things are expensive on the menu but there's something for everyone. I also like that they have salads on the menu. read more

Mary's vine is a unique wine bar in Rankin in a converted church. The good: the wine was amazing - a ridiculous number of wines by the glass and often overlooked varietals. Very hard to find in Pittsburgh. We were able to try many before settling on our order. The co-owner and sommelier is an absolute delight - spending a lot of time with us talking about the wine and with a clear passion and enthusiasm. The free valet parking was great - they put your car in a gated lot, and they specify no tipping. Several architectural details were gorgeous - a large tree on the old alter, a beautiful wine cellar (part of which is visible to the customers). The needs-improvement: the food. The scallops and a salad were good, but the rest (tuna tataki, salmon) was really not good. And expensive. So, until they get a new chef (which I would strongly encourage this lovely place to do), do not expect to have a meal here. Best for for wine. Also, the servers are still learning their way - our waiter, while kind, was extremely slow. It was however, only his third day. I imagine this will improve with time and experience. Overall, I think this place has great potential! I will be back! read more

Had an amazing night at Mary's Vine. It truly is a gem in Pittsburgh area. The food was amazing, service spectacular but the best was the atmosphere. Very relaxing and intimate. You are able to have conversation without screaming, as the kitchen is downstairs and you aren't hearing the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Eeeeeh ... Great ambiance in the restored church, but being nickel and dimed to death was ridiculous! Charcuterie boards were nice, but nothing unique. Entrees we're ok, but might have been better if they weren't cold. The only thing more insulting than paying $3/person for tap water and $6 for a minuscule loaf bread was the snippy bartender in the cigar lounge. Mediocre food and rude service will keep me going to other amazing venues with fabulous food and outstanding service!! read more

This is a hidden gem. My husband and I spent our anniversary dinner here and truly it was incredible. The atmosphere, the food, the service, it was top notch. We love to explore places that are unique and also have incredible food, and this place is a 10/10 . We recommend this restaurant and cigar lounge to everyone! Mary's vine is an interesting and enjoyable physical space in a converted church. While it is not a place that one might immediately think of to dine since it is out of the way in a somewhat marginal community, they have done a wonderful job of making the atmosphere and the space a pleasure which begins with the valet outside who literally does almost anything to make it easy for you to park and get inside the restaurant. The wine and drink list is very sophisticated and extensive. And the staff is knowledgeable about the wines. The food menu, while not huge, is excellent. And while the restaurant advertises itself as a small plates restaurant their small plates are extremely substantial. If Covid and the out-of-the-way location of the restaurant wouldn't lead to its demise because the restaurant world in Pittsburgh would lose a great restaurant should they not succeed. read more

We had dinner at Mary's Vine last night. The whole experience was very enjoyable. I had the beet salad and crab cakes. Both were excellent. The crab cakes were amazing! Best I've ever had. My wife had the veal dish and also exclaimed excellent! Employees were all very friendly and knowledgeable. We then went downstairs to enjoy the cigar and bourbon room! Highly recommended! read more

An amazing place. When you walk in, it's the picture of comfort. The food and service are wonderful. I went for brunch and the Salmon Eggs Benedict, and French Toast were both great. To be honest, I'm not much of a wine drinker, but when we had wine loving family visiting from out of town I thought Mary's vine would be a nice place to take them....and boy was I right! They loved it and even talked about visiting again the next night. Mary's Vine is an old church that has been completely updated and turned into a wine bar. When you walk in, you can see where the alter used to be and the organ that still remains, however the interior has been transformed into a large but cozy sitting area. There are a few large tables but mostly small areas of chairs and end tables where you can sit, chat and drink wine with friends. Mary's Vine has their menus on iPads placed throughout the room which was pretty neat, they even have videos on them showing the transformation of the church. While they don't have a bar per se they do have mixed drinks and the waiter actually brings a bar cart up to your area and mixes the drink in front of you which was fun to see. As we were getting ready to leave they also had live music starting to play which I always love! Overall I think this is a great place to take wine lovers for a unique experience and is definitely something out of the ordinary! read more

Our dinner at Mary's Vine on May 26 was truly amazing - I'm not using that word lightly. We were there for a friend's birthday, and arrived to find "Happy Birthday" confetti scattered on the tablecloth. A small, unobtrusive touch that made us feel so welcome. We each started with a cocktail - the newly added Penicillin was yummy, full of ginger and lemon, with a touch of smoke from the float of peaty scotch on top. A good way to kick off the evening as we marveled at the spectacular space - the soaring ceiling and gorgeous original organ in the back remind you that you're in a desanctified church, now a perfect space to eat and sip and chat with friends. We took a few minutes deciding which entrees and boards to share (and which to hoard for ourselves!). The food menu is fairly small but there's something for everyone. The roasted carrots rested on a delicious bed of house-made hummus topped with pistachio nuts and a sheen of dark green za'atar oil. The vegan dan dan noodles were delightfully spicy, with a subtle crunch from walnuts and mushrooms. I'm still dreaming of the pan-seared duck, sweetened slightly with a grape-based sauce, and the sides of pureed potatoes and pureed Brussels sprouts. A unique and fabulous combination! We also shared a Spanish board with cheese, serrano ham, chorizo and almonds, which was great to try alongside the Director's Selection flights of reds - we liked one of these reds so much we bought a bottle to take home! The flights are a great touch, a way to try several things and see how they pair with different foods. It was interesting to see how each wine tasted different depending on what we ate (and on who was tasting it!). We opted for another flight, the fortified wines, and were blown away by the Madeira in particular (we splurged on a bottle of the Madeira, too!). We ended the evening with the creme brulee and olive oil lemon poppyseed cake. We practically licked the plate clean! I can't wait to return to Mary's Vine. The waitstaff is so thoughtful and attentive, the atmosphere so relaxing and comfortable, the food and wine sooooo delicious. Can't wait to try their brunch, too! read more

This was the first time we visited Marys Vine since they were hosting a benefit nIght for the ALS Assoc. The night was a pleasant exppereirnce start to finish. You are offered to sit in small couches or comfortable chairs and then served on various end tables. In the background they had a female musician playing guitar and singing favorites from the 70s-90s... it was like listening to the Coffee Shop satellite radio. The restaurant itself is a former church. The wine list was extensive... we ordered a cheese plate and a few small dinner plates that included the salmon, flatbread pizza , and duck. This was all followed by dessert (they use Oakmont Bakery for their desserts). All the food was prepared and presented well. This is a great place to drink wine, light conversation and just a pleasant dining experience for smaller groups of people... other side notes: menus were iPads, they use a rolling cocktail cart preparing drinks in front of you, fireplaces add to the experience, and very wheelchair accessible. read more

We had an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable evening at Mary's Vine. We were a group of seven and ordered quite a bit of food. EVERYTHING was delicious! Charcuterie board, fondue, salmon, and flatbread just to name a few were excellent with the wine flights. The service makes you feel special. The environment in the restored church is so unique! Every detail has been considered. We need more places like this.
