Ordered: Malassada ($2.25) Ma's Donut ($1.85) Bavarian Cream Donut ($1.85) Aya's take: Ma's Donuts & More has that classic, old-fashioned donut shop feel that is become more rare to come across these days. It was around 1:30pm and they still had plenty of pastries. Despite them being open 24/7, it didn't seem like they were still baking anything new. The 3 pastries we got weren't warm or super fresh which I think would've made this more enjoyable. The Malassada is a Portuguese fried donut; it has a sweet glaze on the outside and pretty thick and dense on the inside. This would've been delicious if it was fresh out of the oven! Ma's Donut was my favorite - it was a classic glazed donut that was airy, light, and not too sweet. The Bavarian Cream Donut was also a good try but didn't stand out. This place used to be good. It's been purchased by new owners and the place is absolute trash now. They cut corners in every possible way, nothing is made the way it should be anymore. For example, the apple fritters have no apple... it's not an apple fritter it's just a hunk of fried dough coated with glaze. Honestly the most disappointing thing I've experience in a long time. It sucks to see a great business get taken over and completely trashed. read more

The value here is crazy, unreal prices! Each donut is $1.60, a coffee roll is $2.25 and no pastry is more than $3.60 The quality is legit too. I got an apple fritter ($2.25). It was delicious with a fantastic crispy, glazed outside. Not the best apple fritter I've ever had, though it's in the top 3. There's a little too much dough in the middle. I absolutely loved their chocolate cream donut. The texture was on point and they stuffed it to the absolute max with delicious filling. Oh, Newport - I hope you know what you have in Ma's Donuts! They really are open 24/7! And there's more parking behind the building! The price is right - the service is great - the donuts are some of the best I've had, and even the coffee was good! The chaurico breakfast sandwich will live in my dreams until we can get back for more (on a Portuguese roll or sweet bread, both were good!) The chai was very sweet and creamy - all the coffee we had was great. The chocolate honey dipped donut? GET OUTTA HERE. Came here maybe 5 years ago and wasn't as impressed as I am this morning having my coffee and plain donut. First off the customer service was top notch. The two gentlemen handling the orders were both very friendly. The coffee was really good. So good that after I had my donut and coffee, I decided to get another coffee and try a plain bagel with cream cheese, which was very good. They are not skippy on the cream cheese. This donut shop actually has a pretty large selection of options from the regular things you would expect from a donut shop like- Donuts, muffins, bagels, sandwiches hot and cold And then the more part includes a lot of options for smoothies, soups, salads and breads. The Ma's donut is perfect- sweet and a little crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I came here a few months ago and swore I'd never eat a donut again until I came back here. We're in town and took the chance to come back, it was just a delicious. They have express pick up so you can skip the line. Came here specifically for the Malassada. We also grab a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. Food was good! It was better than what I expected. So good, we came back the 2nd day when we were in town. As for service, if you're local, you will be well served. For the rest of us, it was just eh. It would be nice if they were more friendly but at least the food it's amazing! This place is apparently the place to go for a quick bite and caffeine to pump into your veins. Service was quick and the selection vast. My cashier rung me up at $15 after tax for 2 Coffee Rolls, 2 Apple fritters, 2 donut sticks, a malasadas, and a pistachio walnut muffin. Walking up to the cashier, there wasn't a lot of space to walk up and down thru, but it looks like there was a decent amount for seating. If you are ever in the Newport area, you have to try this place! My husband and I went to Newport for Valentine's Day and saw this place on our way to Newport from our hotel. We had to go for breakfast the next morning. Our moths dropped at how many varieties and everything else they had. We spent $30 but we came away with more than we would have at Dunkin's! We got two of the malassadas, a Boston cream, an apple fritter, a bow tie, a coffee roll, one of their giant donuts, two zeppoles, and a coffee roll and hot chocolate. We knew we would only eat the malassadas and one other donut. We planned to bring the coffee roll, the giant donuts, and zeppoles home to share. We ended up bringing all of that plus the bow tie and apple fritter. The malassada filled me up and my husband ate his and most of his Boston cream. The malassada is a deep fried roll with sugar on it. Think of a thick (about an inch) fried dough. It was so soft and heavenly u like fried dough. My husband's donut was so good. I tried it and it had a very nice ratio of chocolate, delicious custard, and donut. Probably one of the best I've had in a long time. The service was great! The guy that took our order was super patient and explained what stuff was. The zeppole isn't the Italian ones we are used to but it has a Portuguese twist. This place is listed as 24 hours open. We came through this place at 1:30am. Did two simple orders even tipped just to find out when we got home that our meals were literally half assed. My egg and croissant were not even warm the cheese was literally a PERFECT SQUARE ( not melted ). the egg was like one small tiny egg shoved in between two slices of burnt croissant. The same thing happened with the other sandwich we got 3 pieces of small chicken and that it. It was very disappointing. If you're going to work night shifts please make the food right at least. Omg homemade donuts!! Stopped by Ma's while in Rhode Island for the day and OMG we are thrilled with the quality and taste of their donuts! We ordered an iced coffee with tons of creamer- no sugar, a double chocolate donut, a maple frosted donut, and a Malassada ( Portuguese fried dough with sugar) They are all super delicious!! It is is 4 pm but the coffee doesn't taste burnt, the donuts and Malassada are still soft and fresh- not stale! The drive-through was super fast! The took our out of state debit card without any issues! The building is so retro looking! It's cool! The company truck has an awesome photo of "Ma" on the side. Yes! Not only do they have a super convenient drive thru but the selection on both coffee, breakfast sandwiches and coffee was amazing. We tried 2 donuts (honey dipped and cookies and cream) as well as the malassada. I wished I tried the Apple fritter - the malassada, although good- seemed a bit too dry for me. The yeast donuts were delicious very light and fluffy- similar to krispy kreme.We ordered a sausage, egg and cheese roll. Pretty good- they heated it up for us which was absolutely the move! Didn't try the coffee but they had an awesome selection of flavors. Price was a little over 10$ - so reasonable! Will absolutely be back and would recommend! Ordered the blueberry cake, rainbow sprinkles, apple crumb, raspberry filled, and maple. They were all pretty tasty. Ma's Donuts is a typical Rhody no nonsense joint. They're making damn good doughnuts in their community. Lots of great doughnut choices, one of my favorites is an Apple Fritter. There's no doughnut hole, just one big fritter filled with warm chunks of apple. I grabbed a small coffee and was given my fritter. I had plans to nibble while driving back to New York but after one bite? That fritter never left the building. Ma? Thanks for the awesome doughnut. Where do I begin?! I was in Rhode Island for a quick minute and found this gem at about 8am while heading back to New York. I just noticed that they are open 24/7 and it totally makes sense, as the demand for their donuts, bagels, sandwiches and coffees must be through the roof! Apparently they've been around since 1993 and it's easy to taste why! I ordered one of my all-time fave sandwiches, a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. The croissant was soft and flaky, the eggs were freshly made and the sausage was nice and juicy. We also ordered a glazed maple donut, which I occasionally dunked into my massive iced coffee. It had the perfect amount of glaze and powdered sugar, without being overwhelmingly sweet. The whole meal was such a treat and was a great way to start a 4 hour drive back home. I wanted to try to all of their donuts, especially their marble cruller, which according to their many 5-star reviews, is absolutely delicious! Butterfinger - This was not too bad. It tasted just like a Butterfinger. Honey Dipped - This was essentially just a glazed donut. It was solid, no complaints here. Honey Dipped Jelly - This was definitely my favorite. There was plenty of jelly filling and it went well with the glazed top. Lemon Filled - This was a disappointment. The lemon filling did not taste authentic at all. Malassada - This was a Portuguese fried dough. It was flavored with lemon zest and coated with granulated sugar along with cinnamon. This was great. We were visiting Newport, RI. It was about 12:30AM and most places for food here are closed at that time. This was the only place that was open. So we thought it would be worth a try. We were grateful to see that they had a drive-thru. However, we didn't expect the wait. There was a line of cars. When it was finally our turn, the woman said to give her a minute. I was grateful they have non dairy milk options for those who are lactose.
