I went here for breakfast despite the bad reviews. The young male host was nice, we were seated right away. We then waited about 10/15 minutes before any server came and they did not even bring water. We placed our order, they were not very accommodating for subbing out certain items but not a big deal. The host brought our food out- no syrup was brought with the pancakes, no ketchup for potatoes, no salsa. We asked them twice to bring them and ended up having to ask the bartender. Potatoes were not filled cooked and had to ask them to take it back to cook( and I'm not a picky person usually I just be quiet to be kind) n when they brought it back the rest of the dish was cold but I still ate it because I was starving at that point. Afterward we decided to purchase cupcake which is attached to hopefully make up for the bad food and I opened the bag to eat my cupcake in excitement to be disappointed by the fact it was hard as a rock must've been sitting there a while. This place is a gem in the rough. If it was more noticeably displayed I think they would get a lot more business. As it is, there is no obvious signs to direct people to it. It's within a strip mall which you would think would be highly visible as it's just stores side by side to one another. But not so for this place. It shares a space with a bakery called Cupcake, which happens to have a large pink sign to point it out. Other than some decals on the windows, I would have no idea it was there & would've thought my GPS was being stupid again. I believe as part of their country farm theme, the windows are boarded up with strips of fence wood. Cute, but had me thinking the place had been closed or something. The door handles are oversized whisks which I thought were a nice touch. And upon entering there are hundreds of mason jars hanging from the blue ceiling. There's a bar plus plenty of dining space with booths, tables & hightops. The food isn't anything I would call innovative or shout "Huzzah!" over. But it was very good & nicely presented. I had the turkey club sandwich & my friend had the turkey burger. The server accidentally rang in the turkey sandwich for my friend so they're was a delay in remaking her plate while mine sat in front of me. But I'm in the serving industry too & I understand that mistakes happen. She apologized profusely, gave my friend a discount on her check AND gave her a free cupcake of her choosing. So that was nice. So in conclusion, the food, service and ambience were all pretty solid on my book. If they just worked on making it more street visible they'd be golden. read more

After church on Sunday the hubs takes me out to eat. It's one of our little luxuries, day of rest and all ;). Today we went to the Mason Jar and wow! I ordered the Pulled Pork Huevos Racheros and I am already planning on going back next weekend! Hubs ordered the simple breakfast and whatever, it was just a plain affair but it satisfied his hunger. We are as different as night and day (and after 25 years of being together I totally accept that :) At the table next to us a breakfast burrito was delivered and devoured and tempted me momentarily. I thought about changing my order. But when my huevos arrived I knew I'd hit the jackpot! A couple just leaving stopped and asked what I'd ordered and I described it and having already taken my first bite, assured them that they MUST try it on their next visit. We did visit two weeks ago during their happy hour and I can recommend that as well. Love the atmosphere, love the decor, love the music, love the food and love being able to pick out one of the cities best cupcakes for dessert. I really wanted to like this place. The concept is cool - I liked the mason jars used as decor and even lighting fixtures throughout the restaurant. Not everything jives aesthetically - the decor is somehow not cohesive, if that is something that matters to you. I give the soundtrack - retro country - an A+. We were there around 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy, but the service was lacking. We ordered a cheese plate as a starter, which was half off for happy hour. The portions and quality of cheese were very good, but we were left to try to figure out what it was we were eating. The server placed it on the table, glanced at us, and then left without describing the cheeses or their accoutrements. I ordered the tater tot hot dish, which was served with exactly 3 tater tots on top of the dish. Maybe it's just me, but what I like about tater tot hot dish is the tater tots. The flavor was good but sadly lacking in tots. Perhaps they were running low that day, or there may have been chopped up tots within the hot dish? The other adult at the table ordered a pulled pork sandwich, which was very dry and the oversize bun that came with it only exacerbated the situation. Also there's the fact that our drinks were only refilled once during our visit, despite the fact that they sat empty on several occasions. Service was not particularly attentive or friendly despite the fact that due to the time of day, there were only three other parties in the restaurant. My friend's son ordered a hamburger which was not good. It tasted like a frozen patty warmed up. The fries were quite tasty however. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things or visited on the wrong day. It was a cute place and the menu had good variety. The happy hour specials are good and the concept is interesting. Moving to the area soon thought we would check out this restaurant since it will be so close. First thing I noticed was the windows needed to be clean. We were greeted by the owner, that was nice. My husband and I both ordered the Quesadilas, we both enjoyed them. Noticed a couple of tables with dirty dishes, they were never bused while we were there. Good music on Tuesday evening. Our food selections varied amongst the 6 of us, and we all quite enjoyed what we selected- ONCE WE FINALLY GOT IT. Service on a Saturday at 1, when the restaurant was not extremely busy, was beyond slow. 90 minutes for the 6 of us to get our lunch and consume it is unacceptable. Our waitress was rude, unapologetic, unaware of what the rotating ice cream flavor was and off put by our 13 year old daughters request to inquire. No evidence of a manager presence. My first and last time to the Mason Jar was a couple days ago. While our server seemed to be trying her best, the service was slow, and my omelet was burned, and my hash browns were under cooked. When I mentioned it to her, she said that's how they cook their eggs, and offered to bring some fried potatoes instead of the hash browns. When the fried potatoes arrived, they were burnt, and over salted - basically the kind of food you'd expect from a soup kitchen. I live near here and have had many lunches and dinners here. Have not been disappointed by anything I've ordered. I've had their salmon entrée and salmon salad. Love the chicken salad with candied walnuts and feta at lunch. Great décor. My daughter and I often have our little date nights here and love ending the night walking across the room to Cupcake for something sweet and fabulous! Very cute, intimate place. It's been a while but we have gone there at night and been pleasantly surprised by live music. Not sure how often they do live music. read more

First time here and will never go back! Service was very poor!! I never seen an employee smile the entire time we were there! Tater tot hot dish had maybe 5 tater tots in the whole dish! I have only been here for lunch. My usual is the apple brie sandwich and fries, a tasty option but admittedly hard to screw this up. Service has overall been pretty friendly. Be forewarned, though, if you are thinking about ordering libations be sure to check the happy hour time as they will happily bring you a full-priced beer 3 minutes before happy hour starts (yes really!). My kids shared a cheese pizza and it was good. I'd come back for the pizza. My wife had a breakfast sandwich and she liked it. I had the tomato basil soup and 10000 lakes pot pie. The soup was a winner but I and my wife didn't like the pot pie at all. It first came old cold and we sent it back. After they heated it some more it was now somewhat warm but it should be hot in my opinion. The flavor seemed off if not freezer burnt. The diners in the booth behind us were complaining about theirs as well. The cupcakes are very good but expect to pay a pretty penny for them. In summary, go for the pizza. read more

I've been here a few times and enjoyed the good food at great prices. NEVER AGAIN! After waiting on a hostess for about five minutes, I asked for seating for three. She lead me to a table and I asked for a booth instead. I was told they are only for groups of four or more. I told her that I was recovering from a back injury ( hence the huge back brace I was wearing) and that the wooden chair would be uncomfortable. She said,, "sorry. New policy" and walked away. As I sat waiting for friends and for any service, several parties of three were seated at booths. Finally a waitress came over and I asked if I could be moved. I pointed out other groups of three and she told me that they must have been there before 11 o'clock,but she would move me. The place was half empty! I waited for her to come move me for another 5 minutes and then moved myself. I would have walked out but was still waiting on my friends. Service never got better. We visited The Mason Jar this morning. Knowing we would be a bigger group (7) with small children, I made a reservation in advance and was told the table would be ready when we arrived. The first half of our party arrived a few minutes before 10 and were told that they had "missed" our reservation and thus there was no table ready. However, our reservation was in fact in their book which was seen and acknowledged by both the hostess and server at the host station. So they promised us a table in 20 minutes which we accepted. We were seated in about that amount of time and then proceeded to wait for our server. About ten minutes into our wait, the server who seemed to be serving our area pulled the hostess aside about 5 feet from our table and while looking directly at us said," who is assigned this table because they keep looking at me." Even before we had a chance to taste your food or be greeted warmly, we were already being treated as a burden by your staff. Luckily, we were with close friends who were willing to look beyond this and still enjoy brunch. I hope this was a fluke because this is a cute place with good food. read more

Food & atmosphere: worth the trip & would return. Real bummer about the service ... 9/10/16: we were a group of 3 women friends for the purpose of coffee/Saturday breakfast/catching up. Server reluctantly offered us 1 coffee refill, after that only upon request. After clearing our plates, delivering our bills & stopping back to get payment (clearly unhappy we hadn't loaded our credit cards into the folders yet...) she explained to us they had "reservations" coming in & would like us to leave - suggested a move to the Cupcake/bakery area if we wanted to stay. :( I'm actually very sensitive to overstaying my time in a restaurant and watching whether they are busy, with anyone waiting. Neither of which was the case, always open tables - no lines during our time there. What a complete customer service fail on her part: I will never return. The energy created by this interaction was so unfortunate ... amazing how one exchange can do that. read more
