Masons is my favorite brewery in all of Bangor area. Not only do they have their own line of brews, but their food is also outstanding! You cannot go wrong with a single item from their menu. All of their appetizers are super tasty! My favorite is probably the Buffalo cauliflower! Their pizzas are interesting and super flavorful. And any of their burgers/ sandwiches hit the spot. This is a great micropub, having just what you would expect: great beers, great burgers, great riverside view. My daughter is vegetarian, and she really liked the veggie burger. It is always busy, but they seem to turn over fairly quickly. Service has been great whether I've been at the bar or a table. read more

Fantastic service - pleasant, attentive. A great selection of beers on tap (can also do growlers and buy cams to go). Creative menu. Pizza was fantastic, crisp crust. Great lunch spot! It's a cute brewery/ restaurant that has really good food, lots of beer and a nice wait staff. I have really enjoyed their sandwiches and pizza over the years, but I will admit that the cheese pizza isn't as good - toppings are a must! My other complaint is that they are BUSY, which is great to see but the entrance way is so jam packed that it's a bit uncomfortable/ awkward. I would recommend getting there right when they open! read more

We've enjoyed Masons for years since they opened - consistently good food, one of a very few great locations in the Bangor area and the best beer in the area. We often send visiting family, friends and work colleagues here - the best burgers, pizza and beer in the area, we say. Unfortunately we are concerned the food quality has diminished considerably as of late: a month ago we got a pizza that was nearly raw in the middle - likely because it had 2 pounds of pepperoni on it...a couple of weeks later another pizza that was not much better (a bad Truffle Pig? Never before) along with a cucumber caesar that involved completely under ripe and nearly inedible tomatoes....but today was just so unfortunate that I signed up for a Yelp account to write a review. How can you charge $16 for breakfast hash that bad? Cold deep-fried potatoes quickly mixed with effectively raw white onion and a small amount of sausage a hash does not make... with 2 overcooked "over easy" eggs? Shame. I never thought I would say that Dysarts is better than Mason's, but I said this exact thing to my wife today. Sure, maybe brunch is a challenge for a brewery - man did we have FANTASTIC brunch here more than once. Cinnamon toast crunch white russian with an eggs benedict pizza? Indeed....alas that was probably 5 years ago....how times have changed. I really miss Fiddlehead but perhaps the Masons of old even more (maybe the good cooks bailed when they took the flags down from over the bar...) read more

Really popular brewpub in the area with a great selection of beers. The pizza has the potential to be truly great but falls a bit short - this is a case where it seems like they assumed MORE IS MORE (more pepperoni! More cheese!) but in reality....I think less would have been more. The crust on the outside is FANTASTIC but unfortunately the crust in the middle of the pie is stretched way too thin. When you combine that with a simply ridiculous amount of pepperoni, what ends up happening is all the oil pools into the pan when they slice it and the pie turns into a bit of a greasy mess. With less pepperoni and a slightly thicker middle crust, I think this would have had the potential to be really REALLY good but as is, it's just good :) Great service. Great beers. Delicious! Top notch beer and amazing food in a great setting along the river. A must visit when in town

This morning we woke up at 5am to hike Mount Katahdin and by the time we arrived to our hotel in Bangor, we were absolutely famished. After a quick search, we settled on Masons for some celebratory beer and food. We arrived and seated right away by the waterfront with a beautiful view. The brews and food couldn't have been any better! I got a flight with the more ~fruity options~ such as the margarita sour and all three ciders. All were so enjoyable and paired exquisitely with the bacon cheeseburger, dirty sweet potato fries, and Fennel Destination pizza. There's something for everyone here - you won't be disappointed!! read more

5 stars on the gourmet food alone. So many delicious options with thoughtful additions. I wanted to try a little of everything. The beer wasn't for me. The stout was sold out and The highest alcohol on the menu was an IPA in the low 8%. I've never seen so many 3 and 4% options. Give me a good Belgium 8-10% option any day. I did have a pretty good cider. Perhaps a wine or mixed drink next time. I noticed that many people had mixed drinks and non alcoholic drinks. That alone should say volumes about the beer. read more

The Bangor / Brewer area have limited dining so its great to see a microbrewery like Masons in the mix. There is both inside and outside dining and it is on the river which is pretty pleasant. Mason's offers several different burgers and I had the one with the bone marrow. The burger was cooked just right and the combination of flavors delivered. You can also order a few different types of fries including cilantro bacon dust which were good, but I probably would have preferred the regular one. The beers were decent and on a nice day this place rocks. read more

Always a fantastic experience. I live in Chicago and Mason's would have no trouble fitting in in the robust Chicago dining scene. The menu has a nice variety and everything is super well executed. I'm picky about pizzas and I LOVE theirs. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their offerings- from the house-made sour pickles to the interesting dipping sauces, it's all innovative and delicious. It's also really nice that their drink list isn't only focused on their own offerings; there's something for everyone here. I often am stuck with an uninspiring glass of wine when I join my beer loving family for dinner but I know that they'll always have at least one delicious cider or cocktail that suits me. It's an extra nice touch and puts them over the top as a favorite for me. We just went on Sunday for socially distant patio seating and the servers were fantastic. I'm sure learning the new procedures is stressful but they were super friendly, efficient and the restaurant is taking things seriously re: COVID-19. They are lucky to have a beautiful, dog friendly outdoor seating area and we had a great time. read more

Even though Mason's has been in the area for a little bit, my husband, dad, and I decided to try it for the first time yesterday. We were seated next to a window which had a great view of the Penobscot. The waiter was super nice and patient as we'd never been there before. The food was incredible! The Buffalo Chicken fries "snack" is delicious and my husband highly recommends the Buffalo the Vampire Slayer pizza. The service is better than the food and river views and I LOVE the food. One of my favorites is the lemonade with fresh blackberry puree and I always ask for a minuscule amount of sugar. Dining on the back patio was lovely. The river is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The food was decent. We had a wonton- sushi app. It was decent, the wonton was dry, but the topping was pretty good. We had sandwiches, I'll give the food a 6.5-7 out of 10. Only major complaint is the menu. It was 4 separate double sided sheets. I kept sorting through them trying to figure it all out. It would be better to have a regular "book style" menu, with a specials insert. Food was okay but nothing I would go out of my way for. Had a burger. It was over cooked but was ok. Just bland. Sweet potato fries had no flavor. Friends had pizza. Looked good actually. Dirty fries have a lot of seasonings to the point you can't taste anything. No salt or pepper on table. Ketchup was in packets. Refills on drinks took a long time for alcohol. Didn't exist for non alcohol. Parents allowed their kids to run around and climb on the rocks outside. So it was like a McD playground instead of a place for lunch for adults. Atmosphere is great. The waiter had a great personality. Food is very good. So what's the issue? We had to wait an hour and a half for a table, and then once we were seated, we had to wait another hour for our food. The waiter did explain they had a large group there, but it's a little ridiculous to have to wait 2-1/2 hours to eat, in Brewer Maine...especially when you have a toddler with you. At least they could have brought some complimentary chips or something, just to hold us over, but nope. read more
