Wow...I am so disappointed with this place. After reading all the great reviews and hearing how we "HAD" to make a stop here on our Maine roadtrip...I can honestly say I would not choose to go back. Not only did wait over an hour for our simple order of a burger and side salad, but when we got our food ( we had yo ask our waiter to check on our food 3 times...and finally a totally different waiter brought it to us), but the burger was pretty average and not really hot (meaning it was sitting around for a while)...they charged us $3 for the addition of onion....and the salad that was supposed to have 'goat cheese crostinis' instead just had a sprinkling of feta, plus other had the wrong dressing. I had heard the big pretzels were a must try, but the 'full fixings' were not something I wanted...(I really soft pretzels with mustard or pub cheese...and NEITHER were offered) so I asked if I could just get a plain pretzel..like a 'side of bread' or something. I was told NO, they don't do that...you have to order the whole full fixing plate for $13. Ridiculous. We figured why not, but we're not fans of any of the sides ( pickled cabbage, cheese curds, raspberry jam and some sort of peanuty spread...and SWEET honey mustard only. No spicy mustard or cheese...and the pretzel itself was heavily seasoned with "everything" seasoning so you could barely taste the pretzel at all. Neither of us could eat more than a bite or two. We got the beer flight and were unimpressed with 3 out of the 4 we tried. 2 were flat and the coffee stout just tasted like weak coffee. The hazy IPA was pretty good, but nothing I would want to buy a 4pack of. All-in-all, the whole experience was just blah...and WAITING ( and we arrived at 3pm on a Saturday, post lunch rush and pre Happy hour...many empty tables and a LOT of bored servers standing around or folding napkins...there is NO reason it should have taken an hour to make a burger and a salad. First time visitors. Typically we are at Timber or Sea Dogs; this was a great change and we were not disappointed. Checked out this brewery last night while in town to see Avril Lavigne. From the moment Tucker came up to us at the bar, we knew we would be in good hands. Her personality definitely shows she loves what she does and her knowledge about their beer is phenomenal. We also ordered some food. We had this place on our short list when in the Bangor area. One of the 2 stars is for the location along this river and the cool interior. The last two times we've been there we haven't felt we got our money's worth. We went last night on a Sunday after trail hiking in Acadia. We ordered the 40's Chopped burger, wings, and tuna wontons. The other star were for the dry rub wings which were very good and a decent number for the price. The tuna wontons were very small for $16. A few tiny pieces of tuna chopped up and laid out on 3 wonton chips. Nope. The 40's thing was basically a $16 grilled cheese sandwich with some crumbles of beef in it. Their FB page shows them displaying these large juicy burgers being held by happy people. Ours was definitely not a 8 oz smash burger. It was a 3 oz burger "Smashed" into the diameter of an 8 oz burger. That was a rip off. In all, it was a $45 meal that costed $75 after tip. We went home and had to warm up some leftovers to fill us up. The final part that annoyed me the most was I was angry with myself for leaving the bartender a 15% tip, which I did out of common courtesy. She certainly did not deserve it. I think she spoke to us twice. The first was when we walked in and she blurted out "Do you want menus?", which I think is crummy bartender talk for "Hello" because that's all we got. She never smiled, never asked us if the food she didn't serve us was ok, and she didn't say goodnight, thanks or anything. The only other time she said anything was to ask my wife if she wanted another beer. I've had better service at the Division of Motor Vehicles. We wanted to make it work for us, as there are so few choices in that neck of the woods, but we left annoyed and probably won't go back. I still don't know if I was bothered more by the lack of food, or for leaving the girl behind the bar $10 for treating us like we were the last thing on her mind. read more

Great beer! We are in town for the week and have been in twice. Blueberry cream beer is top notch. It is not fruity like you would expect, it's much more earthy in taste, very well rounded brew. I've visited twice. Had the fried tofu and bahnmi lobster roll the first time, which were both fine but nothing to write home about. But had a takeout chicken parm pizza today that was so salty it was inedible (and I like a fair bit of salt in my food, so if I'm saying it was too salty, that really is saying something). I think they literally sprinkled a bunch salt on it after making it, since I could find some large salt bits on it; I don't understand why they would do this. I couldn't eat more than a slice. Excellent food! Really enjoyed the Boursin Mushrooms side, there was a lot of them, they had great flavors. Ahi tuna salad was so good! Love the pepita seeds and seaweed salad, only wish there was more. Dry rub wings were a success! Flavorful with a bit of a kick but not enough to scare. Mason's philly sandwich was a disappointment though, not much meat, was kinda soggy, peppers had a strange taste to them. We visited Mason's at the end of June. I believe they prefer if you make a reservation, due to COVID, but we were able to walk-in and the wait was minimal. Beautiful view of the water and tables were appropriately distanced. The tofu was may favorite. Not spongy or airy. Crispy on the outside, lightly coated with a sweet/savory sauce and still had the creamy tofu texture that one would expect. read more

Grabbed brunch @masonsbrewingco yesterday. Always a delight to visit! The servers are super friendly and the atmosphere is so inviting. The space is relatively loud but it's only because everyone is having a lovely time. The biscuits and gravy (pic 1) is an absolute must get! The gravy is sausage based and is so deep with flavor and is the creamiest I've ever had. Eggs were cooked to perfection and the biscuits hiding underneath didn't get too soggy and remained fluffy. The mimosa flight (pic 2) changes weekly and it's always fun to see what the new flavors are. My favorite of all time are the pineapple and the blood orange. Definitely on the stronger side, so be a little wary if you aren't expecting that. Everything is reasonably priced for the amount you're given. Even though we stayed until just past closing to finish our meals, the waitress and staff were very friendly and helpful and did not rush us out at all. Omg, the food here is actually wonderful! Came with three people, ordered a pizza, quinoa bowl, fries, and buffalo cauliflower and left with basically 1 meal leftover and three very full bellies. Our waiter was so friendly and prompt and made our experience really great. The Best Damn Pepperoni Pie is actually the very best Pepperoni pizza I've ever had. And I don't love pepperoni pizza.... Masons is my favorite brewery in all of Bangor area. Not only do they have their own line of brews, but their food is also outstanding! You cannot go wrong with a single item from their menu. All of their appetizers are super tasty! My favorite is probably the Buffalo cauliflower! Their pizzas are interesting and super flavorful. And any of their burgers/ sandwiches hit the spot. This is a great micropub, having just what you would expect: great beers, great burgers, great riverside view. My daughter is vegetarian, and she really liked the veggie burger. It is always busy, but they seem to turn over fairly quickly. Service has been great whether I've been at the bar or a table. read more

We've enjoyed Masons for years since they opened - consistently good food, one of a very few great locations in the Bangor area and the best beer in the area. We often send visiting family, friends and work colleagues here - the best burgers, pizza and beer in the area, we say. Unfortunately we are concerned the food quality has diminished considerably as of late: a month ago we got a pizza that was nearly raw in the middle - likely because it had 2 pounds of pepperoni on it...a couple of weeks later another pizza that was not much better (a bad Truffle Pig? Never before) along with a cucumber caesar that involved completely under ripe and nearly inedible tomatoes....but today was just so unfortunate that I signed up for a Yelp account to write a review. How can you charge $16 for breakfast hash that bad? Cold deep-fried potatoes quickly mixed with effectively raw white onion and a small amount of sausage a hash does not make... with 2 overcooked "over easy" eggs? Shame. I never thought I would say that Dysarts is better than Mason's, but I said this exact thing to my wife today. Sure, maybe brunch is a challenge for a brewery - man did we have FANTASTIC brunch here more than once. Cinnamon toast crunch white russian with an eggs benedict pizza? Indeed....alas that was probably 5 years ago....how times have changed. I really miss Fiddlehead but perhaps the Masons of old even more (maybe the good cooks bailed when they took the flags down from over the bar...) read more

Great lunch spot! It's a cute brewery/ restaurant that has really good food, lots of beer and a nice wait staff. I have really enjoyed their sandwiches and pizza over the years, but I will admit that the cheese pizza isn't as good - toppings are a must! My other complaint is that they are BUSY, which is great to see but the entrance way is so jam packed that it's a bit uncomfortable/ awkward.
