Food selection and service were amazing! Erica answered all my questions as a newbie to lobster rolls. She gave details on various types available and favorites. I placed my order for the traditional lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese. The location houses several restaurants in a food court style and included couple bars. My friend and I checked out the other restaurants while we waited for our order, and she was able to get a few other dishes from neighboring restaurants. I got a drink from another place. There were many areas to eat in the dining area shared by the restaurants. We sat and enjoyed our meals. The lobster was well marinated including cajun seasoning and butter sauce. I did get extra to add to the macaroni and cheese. It was also creamy and the lobster was plentiful. The butter just added extra flavor. read more

I like my Lobster Rolls served like my annual physical, fast, friendly, warm and buttery... and Mason's at the Wharf in DC delivered. I wasn't super duper hungry which is the perfect time for a lobster roll as they aren't known for satisfying hunger at a reasonable price. The staff was awesome and helped me decide what to get. The gentleman asked me if I wanted a pickle and I asked him "Why?", he said some people like it after to kind of clear out the palette. Well, he was right. Was walking around the Wharf still hungry after a snack and spotted this place. Figured I had to try it. I got the Connecticut roll, served warm and tossed in butter with a lemon wedge. Plenty of lobster and just the right amount of butter. It did not disappoint. Service was fast and you can eat there or take it to go. Good spot, with pier vibes, check it out if you haven't already. read more

Location was perfect for lobster rolls and I highly recommend eating out of the dining room at the pier for the peak experience. I really appreciated the option of a more "barebones" roll (lobster and butter) as opposed to the more standard mayo lobster roll. Crab roll was great. Service was prompt. Honestly the main down side was portion size to price ratio, where you realistically need two sandwiches and a side for a full dinner. read more

This place is always a good, reliable choice. The staff is very nice and patient. The prices are a little steep for the size of the sandwiches and amount of lobster in each sandwich. The bread is toasted just right. Favor is good. Would have given full stars if the ratio of bread to lobster was a little better. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls is now a staple on my trips to the Wharf. I love the lobster bisque, but I don't recommend adding extra lobster it's expensive and not worth the additional cost. The location is very convenient to the Canopy, and the soup is excellent. Despite the high prices, it's a great spot if you're craving a comforting bowl of bisque. read more

This lobster roll was great! The bread was toasted perfectly. Plenty of lobster. We got the Connecticut style so just with butter. It would have been nice to have been provided just a small side of melted butter to add if we wished. It tasted so good we will want it again. Had a shared bowl it lobster bisque. It was okay. Not a lot of lobster chunks, but still good flavor. read more

Dined in on a friday at 3/21/25 for dinner. Everywhere else was busy except at Mason's lobster rolls. We ordered the lobster rolls that were hot. They tasted delicious! The lobster does taste fresh and having the bread be warm was a nice touch. I just wished we got a little bit more because it was expensive for the lobster rolls. It definitely is a treat if you want some lobster rolls! read more

For a chain, they serve great lobster rolls. We stopped by on a Saturday evening since the rest of the restaurants in the area were packed. The cashier was very helpful with explaining the difference in each menu item. We all ended up getting the Connecticut Roll (hot lobster) since it was a cold day. It came warm but cooled quickly. It was very buttery and delicious, but I will say the bread is nothing special. For the price (a bit cheaper than other places), I'd say that's a reasonable trade off since the lobster meat is the star of the show after all. We also got the gumbo but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a bit lacking in flavor. The lobster bisque isn't bad though. We got our orders shortly after ordering them since there weren't many customers inside. This place is for casual dining. Nothing fancy unlike the restaurants surrounding it. read more

I am not a huge lobster fan and had no intentions of stopping by this place at all. To be honest I had went to nearby restaurant and the wait was too long so I wandered into this spot and decided to give it a try. The ambiance was very cool, it's set up for a grab and go spot but there are a few tables that you can stay and enjoy your meal at. I wasn't sure what to order so I left it up to the guys behind the counter. They pointed me in the perfect direction. I tried the Connecticut roll which is served warm and truly delicious. I could barely stop myself from eating it in two bites it was so good. I have cannot wait to go back and get another. If you can make it anywhere near this spot make sure you give it a try I promise you you will not regret it. read more

I just enjoyed Mason's for dinner tonight. They never miss. They are always consistent and always have fast service. The establishment is always tidy; the staff is continuously friendly and accommodating. This is my guilt free snack I never mind spending money on. The sandwich is always a tease because one won't get you full, but you feel greedy eating two LOL. So I just consider it a nice snack. read more

You can't be on the East Coast and not have their seafood. Because we had trouble deciding at the seafood market down the wharf, so we ended up here for lobster rolls. Mason's have a few other locations in DC. I ended up with a Connecticut roll, with the lobster served warm with butter in a toasted brioche. Supersized it with their Bar Harbor version to get 50% more meat. It was a hell of a meal. Lobster was so juicy, so sweet, not overwhelmed by the butter. The bun was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Bar Harbor made it hard to not make a mess, those lobster meats will fall out for sure. Restroom on site, pretty clean too. Definitely makes the lobster rolls back on the West Coast look crappy. read more

The restaurant was a little hard to find on the Wharf as it was located inside the center of the Oculus building. I did not see any signs on the exterior of the building or maybe missed them. I was the sole customer at that time. Staff was helpful and explained the differences between the lobster roll styles. I decided to go for the larger roll Connecticut style which included 1.5 times the lobster meat plus the tail. Prep work was quick and I was chowing down the roll quickly. The roll was soft and lightly toasted. The lobster meat was tender and mixed with a little mayo and drizzled with warm butter. I squeezed a little bit of lemon but it was fine as prepped. The small spear of pickle was tart and crisp. I am not one who normally just eats pickles on their own but I would eat one of theirs again. Overall good meal to satisfy a lobster roll craving. read more

Lukes was better to us. The service wss excellent. The lobster bisque was bland and you had to pay $4 extra for lobster meat. The Connecticut lobster roll was chewy and not worth the $25 price. It was empty when we went on a Saturday afternoon around 3 pm. read more

Connecticut lobster rolls are my favorite - and, in a toasted brioche bun, they're hard to beat. For the price, the lobster rolls were surprisingly tiny and light on meat. Speaking of the lobster meat, it was kind of rubbery, which interfered with the enjoyment of the rolls. I think they microwaved the food. There is no other explanation for the odd texture. Similarly, I expected our tater tots to be fried, air fried, or baked. They were handed to us steaming, but fully wrapped in paper. It was clear that those were also microwaved. For the price, and given that we're talking about potatoes, the portion was unreasonably small. The last item we ordered was the macaroni and cheese, and it was also was minuscule for the price. The macaroni noodles were cooked nicely. The roux was fine but not particularly cheesy. The bread crumbs on top were not necessary - especially if they were just going to microwave it instead of baking. Service was extremely fast and it didn't need to be. This isn't some fast food drive through. Good food takes time. This took no time at all. They have no business charging what they do for what they serve. Seating is limited but sufficient for a largely takeout / grab and go crowd. Parking is plentiful on the street and in the parking lot if you should want to go. read more

True to slogan its 'famously simple' which is exactly the way I like my lobster! It was well cooked, buttery, bread was fluffy and toasted. Honestly I wanted it to a bigger roll but that's only because it was delicious. It's a decent size and they are not stingy with the meat. Service was fast and pleasant and the restaurant is small for eat in but you also finish pretty quickly and most people seem to grab to-go. It's very family friendly and casual ! We stopped in for lunch and ordered 2 lobster rolls (cold) and tater tots. Overall it was good but needed more butter. We ended up stopping in a second time a couple of days later and those rolls were even better, hence the 4 stars. We ordered them to go and when we dug in they were packed with meat, extra butter as requested. The bread was similar to Texas toast and went well with the lobster. Very satisfied with our meal. Bomb and delicious lobster rolls, but definitely on the pricier side. Some co-workers and I popped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food. This location on the wharf is pretty small, with just a smattering of tables and located on a strip where there's a bunch of hotels and restaurants. I tried the Connecticut roll, Bar Harbor style, which included meat from a 1.25lb lobster, including the tail and this thing was stuffed with lobster meat. The roll was perfectly buttered and toasted too. With some mayo on the side, I was ready to devour another one shortly after. The new england clam chowder was also good and helped round out my lunch. After throwing in a perrier, this was a $50 lunch. Probably not an every week thing, but great for a splurge every once in a while! read more

Mason's has a very good lobster roll and the prices are very fair! You order at the counter and pick up your food. Mason's is located at the Wharf area and is tricky to find. GPS will not get you there all the way. Well worth a trip to try the rolls. read more

No frills establishment, however do not let that deter you from coming to masons for a lobster roll. The roll was fresh and the lobster was even better! Cold lobster and a toasty buttery bun is the perfect combo. Lobster bisque is light and hits the spot on a cold day. Highly recommend. read more

Be honest, we are all hesitant about place like these who specializes in lobster rolls because for $20+, how much lobster is there? To my pleasant surprise, a good amount. I ordered the Original with tots. The roll was nicely buttered though I would have preferred it to be a little warmer to contrast the coldness of the lobster. The tots themselves were actually air-fried, which I appreciate but could have been a touch crispier. I would be back to try another roll and their soup. read more

Located at the Wharf, but not on the front of the boardwalk. I would have missed it if I hadn't seen the street sign for Mason's famous lobster rolls. It's lobster roll season and l love them, so I went in and ordered a classic lobster roll. Decent amount of lobster on the roll. It was served with a piece of lemon and dill. It's a good value because it's reasonably priced compared to other lobster rolls. Atmosphere was like a fast food chain, order and pick up at the counter, fast and efficient. The rolls were flavorful without being heavy. The mac and lobster mac were both really good. The lobster wasn't rubbery at all. The tots weren't that great, though. They were a little soggy. Pretty good lobster rolls here. Ended up getting the bar harbor (50% more lobster meat including the tail) with the Connecticut Roll (warm lobster). The price is hefty, like $30, so be prepared to shell out. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Did a great job of explaining the menu to me. Took me about 10 minutes to eat this thing. It's not huge but it's not small either. Enough to finish and not feel overly satiated. The lobster was tender and the bread was buttery. I don't have big complaints about it, but I wasn't blown away by it either. I probably won't be back unless someone else really wants to eat here. read more

Oh my god it was so good. Connecticut roll was lobster warmed with butter, reminded me of the canes style bread. Was so delicious. The lobster roll was tasty and as expected. Price was $22 for the classic lobster roll - not sure how that compares with other lobster roll prices. I ended up eating it after walking back to my hotel (15-20 minutes) so it wasn't as fresh as if I had eaten it freshly made. The pickle was soggy so the walk could've affected that also. read more

it's got to be something wrong with this !? looking for something to eat that I might like I came across Masons Famous Lobter Rolls in NW DC . I love seafood , so when I noticed Lobster Bisque immediately I knew what I was having . Ordering the Lobster Bisque , the guy at the register asked me " Did I want to include the Lobster" ? I said I ordered Lobster Bisque that is what the sign said. He then replied The Lobster doesn't come with the Bisque ! . Wait !What? You get the Bisque , Lobster is separate . I ended up paying for the Lobster separately in my Lobster Bisque. SMH ...I have never heard of such in all my years !!! read more

With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations.
