She was like, we recommend a $10 tip for that massage. I was so surprise that I actually gave them the $10/each. I later talked $#!+ in my car, mainly to myself for getting punked. I have been going to Massage Eden since it opened in the Otay Ranch area. I always enjoyed my massages. My dear husband would buy a GC for my birthday and Christmas (100.00). But the last 2 massages have been terrible. Plus there s always an issue with the GC. Today I had 60 massage and a 30 min foot massage. She was pretty rough as I told her please be gentle. She didn't understand or speak English. But that didn't stop me from going, until now! She was in and out of room. I try to tell her to work on the knots on my shoulders. I went in for the 1 hour foot reflexology (which includes massages on your head, neck, arms and back). I was hoping to relax since my back has been achy these past few weeks. This older masseuse went in the room, did not say a word, but I figured she'll be doing my massage. So she pointed to the bed to make me lay on my back. She started massaging my neck..without lotion or oil. So from that moment on, I knew this would be bad. The pressure is there but her massage is not soothing or relaxing at all. I was raising my head so she can reach down my neck but she pushed my head down with so much force. She then proceeds to work on my head. This lady was pulling my hair really hard that I can feel my hair falling off. She would also glide her thumb roughly on my mid scalp area which is very sensitive. She then continues to push down on my chest to the point that I was on the verge of crying. Then, she proceeded to rub my arms, with minimal amount of lotion. I know I should've stopped her from the moment she started, but in my head, I was hoping it will get better. She then worked on my left leg. Hardly used any lotion. I forgot to mention that my eyes were covered the entire time, which is appropriate during a massage. Then I heard a man come in. They were talking until she finished with my left leg. So time for the right leg, and right away, I felt a difference with the massage. I took off my eye cover and it looks like they switched..which I didn't mind. I thanked him for replacing her and complained to him that she was very rough and harsh. He then proceeded with my back which was my most problematic area. He did a very fantastic job. From the time that he started the massage until he finished, I felt very relaxed and less stressed by the trauma that was caused by the older masseuse. If you want to try this place out, ask for Sam. Beware of that older lady at all cost. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. By the way, it took about 5 days for my scalp to feel better from this lady pulling my hair and roughly rubbing on my scalp. I was hoping to feel rejuvenated but instead, I was very disappointed for this specific masseuse. Thanks to Sam for stepping in and making up for it. The lady at the reception which seemed to be the owner of was harassing me and she walked in my massage multiple times to translate I felt extremely uncomfortable. While I was being taken care of, she had to wait 10 minutes or so, as she finally gets helped, halfway through they switch her out for another person, guy this time. I have been coming here since this particular storefront opened. Over all, okay. Hit or miss depending on the person, but they are usually good enough. Today, the person was not experienced, came in late. I can wait, so that should not have been an issue. But when it ended ten minutes short, that made me felt cheated. I had a knots in my neck and shoulders so I told her before she started. Well, she kept on massaging my buttocks and I had to remind her twice more to get my neck taken care of. I usually upgrade if the person is capable, and I frequently tip $15. After the massage, front desk girl who should know me by now asked me if I want to add a tip. So I told her I want to add $8 (still full 20% by the way.) To my surprise, she told me to make a $10 tip for an hour massage so, I told her it was short and henceforth my tip will be $8. I should say, I come here almost every week, and this was the one time that was awful. You should ask for someone who is experienced. For your info. It is illegal to charge extra $2 for credit card/debit payment, but I try not to make an issue, granted that they usually work hard. Everyone here speaks little to no English, even letting them know the type of massage I wanted was a struggle. I really liked how the massage therapist asked me what intensity level I would like and every few minutes he would ask if I was okay. I also liked that the room was very relaxing with the dim lights and it wasn't too hot or too cold. What I didn't like was how thin the walls are so I can hear people outside of the room. We both got a body massage and my husband got Julie and I ended up with this girl who disappeared plenty of times during our 1hr massage. They do such a great job and at $40 an hour for a full body massage, you can't go wrong. There might be a bit if a language barrier and like other reviewers said there is a thin sheet instead of upper walls but that's a fair trade off for the affordability. Plus you know that nothing unprofessional is going on cause you'd hear it loud and clear if there was. Angel was also my favorite but she left. But the others are great too... Don't hesitate to tell them what you want them to focus on and if you want more or less pressure or if you rather not have them walk on your back. Just don't go too often... What a terrible, terrible place! I thought it would be nice to have a 60-minute massage near my home, and so I called and made a reservation. I requested and confirmed a specific therapist by calling ahead to check availability. Long story short, they confirmed that everything was good to go, but when I arrived, the requested massage therapist was not there and the two ladies running the shop had no idea what it was I was trying to say or communicate. Even worse, the masseur who was trying to push me into the room had a booger hanging out of her nose. After repeating myself a dozen times to try and establish some level of basic communication, I frustratingly walked out.
