The front desk clerk called this gratuity, but because it's required, it doesn't seem like gratuity (that would vary based on the service). My wife and I went there and got our own rooms and me being somewhat new to massage places we both left very happy. We are pleased with how clean and came in for the 60 min but my wife changed it to 90 min during her massage. Massage 5 stars 90 minutes and it was great seeing massage every inch of my body to the point where I had no soreness she stretch my shoulder my neck and my legs and hip!! Business practice I'm giving it to stars when I original arrived I want it a 60 minute massage with shower table included but a combination of Anna deciding to use sugar scrub without telling me that it's going to cost me and saying 60 minutes was not enough time to complete my massage which cost me another $20 I am spending $35 more than I was planning to!!! But table shower five stars she was outstanding she scrubbed every part of my body and for the men that includes that area to when she was done I would extremely refresh and clean! Great massage and very relaxing, but unfortunately I have to leave a negative review for their rude manners and customer service. I had a gift certificate so my service was already paid for and only had $5 cash to tip. They disrespectfully counted my cash and slammed it on the desk in my face and complained it wasn't a minimum of $10. Since when was there a minimum to kindly give tip? At that point, I shouldn't have even tipped at all for how rude that was! But I sucked it up and tipped with card instead, which they add on a $2 fee. Ridiculous. Great pressure on my back and neck, and a bonus was hot rocks massage on my calves and feet all included in the $25 1 hour. Gave them a second chance but WILL NEVER GO BACK! Went in for a massage tonight and everything was fine until it was time to pay. For the record, I've been coming to Massage Eden for more than 10 years maybe 12 times a year on average. I had a problem once before that Ill briefly mention. Somehow, I had never noticed a sign, "minimum tip $10" and I guess I never noticed this because I had always had a massage that I really liked and usually for what I get (90-minute massage) I tip about $20 so well over "their minimum". But one day I got a terrible massage. Though I kept telling the woman "harder" "more pressure", and even demonstrating on her, she did not improve. It's almost like she was being defiant. I told her about 4 times. So, when I went to pay and I was trying to leave a $5 tip (which was $5 over what I wanted to leave), the lady told me the minimum tip was $10 and pointed to the sign. I explained my feeling about mandatory tips how they should be earned or be part of the price. Its not a tip if its mandatory!!!! I refused to leave more than $5, I mean what could they do? So, I leave and get about a mile away and realized I had left my Fitbit. Shoot! Now I had to go back and hope they didn't hide it or worse! So, I went back, and it was where I had left it even though the room had been cleaned. Was it overlooked? Who knows? But I did end up giving the masseuse the other $5 and a hug because you know life's too short and I got my Fitbit back and I didn't feel like being upset about it. And yes I continued to go back. BUT THIS REVIEW IS FOR TODAY AND I WON'T BE GOING BACK! So (again at the pay counter) after my massage, I start to take my cash out (first mistake because I don't usually pay anything with cash) but because my masseuse was standing there, just me and him, I was going to tip him first. Meanwhile, before giving him the $20 he told me the price for the massage was $60 so I changed my mind and instead of giving him the $20 bill I was holding, I handed him a $100 and asked him to just give me $20 back. This should cover the bill plus his $20 tip. So he's fiddling around and I'm waiting for my change still holding the $20 that I initially took out of my wallet. Finally, I asked him for my change, He starts counting back and then counts the $20 bill in my hand as my change. (Nah Bruh!) You didn't give me this $20, I had this in my hand. He insisted he did give it to me, I insisted that he didn't. Our conversation soon drew the attention of other workers and there was I think one customer. So, one of the workers points out the camera which is directly pointed at the counter and would have caught the entire transaction. And this is where I have the problem, THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE CAMERA TO SEE WHO WAS CORRECT. I begged them to play the tape back and that I could be wrong and then we'd all know for sure. They wouldn't. Instead of continuing to argue with them I just left WITHOUT MY $20 letting them know that they had lost a loyal customer. I don't usually Yelp but I felt helpless. Why would I tip the masseuse $20 and then try to jack him for $20? Bottom line is the company had a way of looking at the tape to see what had occurred and REFUSED. In my opinion, If they didn't want to look at the tape then they should have refunded my money if they wanted to maintain a loyal customer. I was willing to overlook the "minimum tip" incident but the handling of this issue was unacceptable. For the record, I usually get a decent massage, but they get no stars for the way they handled this incident. I came here for the second time in hopes maybe that I would have a better experience the second time around. 1) When the lady gets off lunch and gives you a massage but burps in your face. Disgusting! 2) The language barrier is an issue. They don't seem to understand what you want. 3) I always tip. No matter what. Amazing massage for the price! Went in for the first time for a $25 hour long foot massage and it was so much more than that! For $25 they massage your entire body (face, head, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, back, etc) They stretch you out which is amazing when you're sore from working out. They also included hot stones on your feet and calves. I felt like they were going to stop and the massage just kept on going. Will def be going back. I took 2 more people and they absolutely love it as well. Susan was my masseuse and she made sure to ask if the pressure was fine which is awesome & doesn't always happen. For $35 you get an hour long foot scrub. I can only image how amazing that's going to be. They also take walk ins and are open late which is really great. I started getting massages a few years back after having some lower back problems that the chiropractor I went to couldn't really fix or at least was going to take way too long and cost way too much $$$. She wanted me to come in like two times a week for at least a month to get started and my insurance didn't cover it. $400 every 4 weeks. NOT!!! All this chiropractor accomplished was hurting my neck, which didn't hurt before I got there. So I decided to try massage therapy and it worked like a charm. I settled on a really nice liitle place next to my favorite Thai restaurant in Riverside, but that's a whole another Yelp. So when I moved to the Bonita / Eastlake area I needed to find a new place to get my massages from when I felt the need. I found this place and couldn't believe the cost. For only $40 I got a really nice effective therapeutic massage. Not only that, it is very nice inside and smells great from the incense they always have burning. I've now been a few times and have had 2 or 3 different therapists and they all do a very similar method and all do a great job on me. I couldn't be happier. I just wish they spoke better English like the person back in Riverside. But, for $40, that's just fine. We don't really need to talk much. read more

First of all I got a male this time, which IS fine but him dripping his sweat on my shoulder is NOT fine. 2: I did a couples massage and the other lady asked my boyfriend about adding extra 30 min for foot massage. You can barely understand what they say anyway. He agreed. The male never asked me if I wanted extra 30 min YET I came out paying the extra $20 because he did it anyway. Let me preface this by saying that I've been to this location twice in the past and we were quite happy. However, last night, my wife and I went in for a massage and I've never felt so relaxed... no that's not the word... abused in my entire life. The little Asian woman manhandling me had a grip of iron and knuckles made out of Chuck Norris. At one point she kneaded my shoulders so hard I nearly let out a small yelp. I think I actually did. She asked me to "relax" as I was tensed up. But that's like being asked to relax while someone waterboards you. I think the reason why I didn't say anything was because, one, it's hard to speak while you feel like you're being kicked in the head, and two, she told me I had soft skin. Which was nice. Right before she sneezed on my back. The only consolation I had was knowing that my wife was on the bed next to mine, and that the very still man laying on my other side was still alive. I could tell this was so because of his loud snoring. I wasn't really sure if I was at a massage parlor or a concentration camp. I received an excellent massage. As my feet were soaking, I received a head, hands, and an arm massage. After that, my feet were worked on with surgical precision. The masseuse started the massage, then went into the hallway and left the door partially open, in the hallway the masseuse was talking to a man. Then when the masseuse came back in, she didn't close the door fully, and a man came to the door speaking what sounded like Chinese to the masseuse who was massaging my wife. My wife was startled that the door was still open and a man was at it. My wife stated she made a face at the man to indicate that he was not welcome. i HATE BEING ASKED TO TIP!!! I will tip what I want based off of service and you need to know it's RUDE to ask for a tip. But I did tip $20 but almost said no tip because I was asked. I had a full body massage yesterday by Angela. I walked-in around 1:30pm wanting a 60 minute massage, but she was doing such a good job I extended it to 90 minutes. I'm 6'5 235 pounds an she was able get deep in my muscles, almost felt like a sport massage. I didn't like how low the beds are, I like my arms to be able to hang when my lower body is being massage, but wasn't able to let them hang. I came in at 1:30pm and left at 2:55pm she left for almost 10 minutes to get hot stones and 5 minutes to tell the front that I wanted to extend it to 90 minutes. So I paid for 90 minutes but really got 70 minutes. But the massage was so good that I didn't mind, plus I was running later for lunch with friends. read more

I had an unpleasant experience here the past week. I came in with a ton of knots in my upper back. I told Travis, the manager, that was the reason for my visit. He told the lady that was working on me. She did not listen/understand me. I asked her probably about 5-6 times for her to be harder, firmer, deeper. I used all these words thinking that she would increase the intensity. That did not happen. It was one of the most horrible massages I've ever had. She just rubbed me lightly. Put way too much oil on me. The sheet underneath me was drenched as well. It was gross. She did not work out any of the knots. In fact, she was unable to even find them. They are huge, and a lot of them. Yet she kept asking "here?" "here?" How did she not feel it? Then she was working on my shoulders and was scratching me. I stopped her, and told her there was no need to continue. I asked to speak to the manager, Travis. He just repeatedly said "I understand. I understand." No apologies. No offer to make things right. He even was going to charge me the full $40! I was pissed! Also, on the front desk there is a sign requesting at least a $10 tip. That is 25%!! If I tip 25% it will have to be amazing, above and beyond. This massage was The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because I have been here previously, with no real issues.
